I have friends in Alhambra who absolutely love this place, so they took me here for lunch -- and I'm glad they did, because it's not necessarily the kind of spot that would've stood out to me or that I would've chosen on my own. We had a large party (7 people) but it was easy to get a table and even bring another table over to accommodate us all. The atmosphere inside isn't really anything special, but the service is stellar and the food is good. My ham steak was one of the best I've had in LA -- perfectly cooked, and a nice ratio of meat to fat. My eggs scrambled with cheese were a solid option, though next time I'll probably request french fries instead of the hash browns. And next time I'll ask for my English muffin toasted well done, as it came out warm but not crispy at all. My friend ordered pancakes that looked amazingly fluffy, and another friend enjoyed her churro waffle, which looked spectacular. Diet Coke served in a can rather than fountain -- but that's OK, as it guarantees freshness and fizziness. Cash only. Ample parking. Family run. Give it a try!

LOCATION - Plenty of parking with no time limit. You'll see their large Apple Jacks signage in a bright yellow. You can't miss it. From the outside, the windows are very tinted and it almost looks closed but as soon as you enter, it's a completely different story. The walls are bright "egg yolk" yellow, filled with cute farm house decor. FOOD - I ordered the BREAKFAST BURRITO, which was a nice size! It had hash browns, eggs, bacon, ham, and cheese. I also got their salsa on the side. I do wish the hash browns were a bit more crispy but overall, I give it a 7.4/10. I also got their CHURRO WAFFLE COMBO and the combo plate was comforting and delicious. The Churro Waffle itself was so good! It had a robust flavor, full of cinnamon and cajeta. Sweet but really good! I give that dish a 9/10. SERVICE - Our waitress was super nice, happily helping us the entire time. Everyone who works there moves fast but it doesn't take away from feeling welcomed. I believe it's a mother, daughter duo based on other reviews, so that's a beautiful touch to this Latinx-owned business!

What's up!!! Haven't been to this spot in years! Very glad I came back and had a great experience. I was immediately greeted and seated. Service was amazing and the servers kept the coffee coming! The sirloin steak was delicious. I will definitely be coming back.

Probably one of the best experiences I have had at a restaurant in a very very very long time. The service is very fast, they are constantly attending to our needs or wants, the food is amazing with great big portions. The staff was cheerful and very personalizable. If you are looking for a mom and pop location with amazing food this is it. Don't mind the picture just me enjoying my coffee at this great location. I am not from this area just a passing by and I don't know anyone at this location. I will be coming back.

In an area full of pho and dumplings what find on a rainy Saturday. Lots of locals and regulars. Super friendly staff and patrons. Price point spot on, portions large, but not enormous, food tasty, coffee good, decor fresh and clean, a no nonsense straight forward coffee shop. Cash only. Chicken fried steak with crispy hash browns. Yummy Steak and eggs and pork chops and eggs just as good. Can't wait to return.

I ordered the Mac n' chowder, and it was a perfect mixture of clam chowder and Mac n cheese in a bread bowl. It was definitely a unique dish! The rest of my party ordered the traditional pan roast with assorted seafood, and after tasting it, I wished I had more room in my stomach! While I don't eat oysters, everyone else did and I heard nothing but good things. They even ordered another dozen (for a total of 3 dozen)! Service was fantastic. We were also able to call and get our names down for a reservation, which I'm glad we did since it started getting very crowded with a long wait during dinner time. There's plenty of parking in the lot and below ground parking structure. I would 100% come back here again and recommend it to others!

Because the wait time was too long for that, we decided to try The Dive Oyster Bar -- and man are we sure glad we did. We got a total of five items: a bowl of clam chowder, the soft shell crab appetizer, the roasta, the traditional pan roast with the house speciality protein (with the crab on the side because of my dad's crab allergy), and the jambalaya, which for the last three we ate with medium heat. We shared everything (except for the crab appetizer because, again, crab allergy for dad) and found the food to be delicious, with each entree coming out tasting better than the last. Personally, the roasta was my favorite with the pan roast as a close second. Very flavorful dishes with medium heat being a good level for us (wasn't spicy for our Korean palates). Service was great, our server (unfortunately forgot his name) was attentive and quick with our requests, and although he forgot a side of rice, it was for the best as the food had settled in our stomachs by then and we were content with what we ordered. The restaurant itself is well maintained with ample table space and appropriate lighting, though the music from the evening DJ was a tad bit too loud to hear from across the table. Not a big mood killer for us, though mostly because the good was that good. We're not from this area, so the odds of coming here again are relatively slim -- but should the opportunity present itself, it'll be more than fate this time to take us through these doors once again.

However, I went for a second time yesterday and was deeply disappointed. The owner wasn't there and instead a younger girl took my order and prepared the food. I went back and returned everything. I didn't see a hair in my other sandwich but couldn't even eat it without thinking what could be in each bite. The same girl was there when I returned and a young guy. I spoke with the guy and he gave me a refund right away and apologized. The girl who had made my food was maybe 5 feet away and couldn't even turn around to look at me or apologize. Very disappointing since the owner seemed like a nice guy who probably works extremely hard to build and maintain his business, only to have it ruined by some employee who couldn't even care enough to take 5 sec to put on a hair net. Shame on her.

Also had the lamb chops, which is one of their most popular dishes, and I can see why. The lamb was cooked perfectly, soft juicy, super easy to eat. I loved that there was chimichurri sauce provided on the side and it went well with everything, including the mashed potatoes and vegetables. Seeing the server and an Asian staff coming out from kitchen confirmed that the cooking wasn't fully American taste bud. But that is the reason why it hit me very well. Honestly, whether you have American or fusion or Asian taste bud, the taste quality is better than some average American restaurants. I tried the butter squash soup, lamp chop, and bow tie pasta with chicken. I was enjoying my soup and lamp chop a lot. The pasta was pleasant to me, but it wasn't exceptionally great compared to the lamp chop. My fiancé loved the pasta though, saying that the sauce wasn't overwhelming. It is not a cheap place to come for, but it is because the food and drinks (good white wine) have quality. The wait for the entrees was a little long, even though it wasn't that busy. I believe it was the chef spending time to make sure each dish was done well, unlike the busy restaurant where chefs only follow the restaurant's recipes to make it quick and easy. Lastly, the ambience was okay, but it was more an older fine dining/family owned style. It had some nostalgic vibe if you'd take it that way. Keep it up. I really hope it will be there forever long.

Between the four of us, we ordered the Party Platter ($115), which included a medium Galbijim, Seafood Pancake, and Egg Soufflé. We also added a Cold Noodle Soup ($19.99) and Seafood Tofu Soup ($19.99). The soup portions were huge, so great for sharing. Also, I loved all the banchan, especially this braised potato dish that I found quite unique. While the galbijim was the signature dish, I found it a bit too heavy especially with the ricecakes and cheese we added. It's fun and entertaining when they blowtorch the cheese though, but probably not as needed. The flavor is good with rice, but I wish the meat was a bit more tender. For galbijim, I do think Sun Nong Dan does it better. But for having all the variety and all other Korean cravings, I'd come back to Hanging. They also offer some lunch specials too.
