The genius bar is much less good than formerly. I went in recently looking for help and got a very rude and condescending "genius." He wouldn't listen to me, or to the colleagues from the front of the store who'd tried to help, and disparaged the abilities of the people at the Woodcliff Lake store. Went to this store for a simple battery replacement on my iphone, after running diagnostics the technician told me that there was some sort of outage that had effected my phone and which case the battery replacement was free, sort of like a recall for your car. Which was great for me. I ended up spending around 2.5 hrs there dealing with other tech issues, password issues, backup issues etc. Ended up needing to come back, partly my fault partly theirs. What really annoyed me was when I returned a few days later I ended up working with a diff technician, the same one was there but working with a different customer. I told him who i worked with last time and my previous issues that should be resolved now but that the previous tech told me the battery replacement was free. He looked at me dumbfounded when I tried to explain it to him. So he called over the tech that i worked with earlier and asked why he told me it was free. He preceded to look me dead in the eye and say he doesnt remember working with me and has never heard of this. I was just there 3 days ago and spent hours working with him, I had bizarre tech issues that hes never had before. So he clearly lied to force me to pay. I was originally expecting to spend the 30 bucks anyways so i didnt argue and let it go. They replaced the and i got my phone back. But thankfully this was only 30 bucks, if this was 1000 dollar item I would have been furious. Its one thing to not remember telling me its free but to not remember not even working with me 3 days earlier is ridiculous and extremely suspicious. For me this makes this staff very untrustworthy and unorganized, it should have been very easy to look up my name and see who i worked with 3 days ago. I personally will never be back, i warn everyone if you do work with these people to be very careful and double and triple check every transaction before leaving. read more

I had an appointment for service on a fairly new iPhone, the speakers were not working properly. The gentleman who helped me went to arrange for parts to be fixed and also found that the camera for face recognition had failed. The phone was replaced without issues. Everyone I dealt with in the store was helpful and pleasant however Steven , the tech who helped me was an absolute gem. So kind and helpful, and it wasn't an effort for him... I'm trying to purchase a laptop. Can't decide if I should go with the Pro or Air. Went to this store hoping to get some info from a sales person as to which would be better for me, what were the differences etc. I got ZERO information. Basically the guy just pointed me in the direction of the laptops and stood there while I looked at both of them. No explanations no consult no input nothing. This is the second Apple store I've been to about this, same thing. What happened to this company! It's like they are mute! After spending 10 minutes finding parking, I got to this store and waited 15 minutes to get help. I clearly told the my "Apple Helper" that I was looking for an Ipad Air 2 16gb. She tried selling me the Ipad Pro and I once again stated i wanted the Ipad Air 2 16gb. When she got another employee to grab it for her, she did not let me see the box. I gave the workers the benefit of the doubt that I can trust them. It turned out I was charged and sold the Ipad Air 2 64gb. I was suspicious of the higher price than I had expected so I asked how much the Ipad Air 2 16gb costs and she assured me it was $499. I know I am partially to blame for not double-checking but honestly this has been a waste of my time. I have to go all the way back to this store and get it exchanged and a refund. I whish I could post a lower rating. I took in a practically new iPhone 12 Pro max which was having problems. After 3 calls lasting many hours, the diagnostician said the phone should be replaced ,however I did not have enough on my debit card to cover tbis so went to the store to have this done. The manager and another rep, said there was no notes from the apple support lady about replacement. Upon there doing a slapdash repair I called apple support and they said that she DID authorize the replacement. The manager acted like a prick to the point where after 30 years and 10s of thousands of dollars of purchases I will never purchase another. Mac product, with lots of money,, the quality and care that used to set Macintosh apart , is gone. Now it is a bunch of brainless thugs, whose main objective is not to help you , and somehow waste as much of your time as possible and lie to your face Believe me when I say I will get my attorney involved. Visited the Nanuet store today at 3pm. I came in as a walk in with full knowledge it could be potentially a two and half hour wait. Around 5pm I was approached by a genius specialist named Davidan. I explained to him I spent countless numerous hours and days trying to export my photos to my external hard drive but it either stopped midway or file was corrupt. I wasn't going to leave until this issue was resolved hence the reason why I went to the Apple Store and waited so long to see a genius. Davidan matter of factly proceeded to copy and paste the photos which took about an hour to transfer. When it was finally transferred we could not open it so then without further investigation he decided to delete and re- export again which again took another hour. By this time it was 7pm and the export was unsuccessful the second time. Frustrated after two unsuccessful attempts, I pointed out to Davidan the pop up sign " time machine backup failed" and it was only until then he realized the seagate hard drive was incompatible with his way of exporting. Mind you I was able to sucessfully export photos using seagate external hard drive which came with mac compatible software a couple of months prior with no problems. He then consulted with his coworker Dave who seemed more knowledgeable and it was then simply decided best to purchase Apple supported external hardware at the store. By this time it was 8pm. Finally at 9:15 pm the export was successfully completed while the cleaning ladies were working hard around me. Kudos to both managers and other genius specialists who were sympathetic to my unusually long wait. Had the problem been more properly investigated then it would've saved me a significant amount of time. It was no fun spending time all Sat afternoon and evening at the Apple Store. When I decided to complain to the very nice female manager regarding his work, Davidan went so far to even lie claiming I told him to ignore the "time machine backup failed" pop up sign. I said no such thing, I never mentioned anything to him because I thought he was quite simply a genius and he knew what to do. I didn't read all the other reviews, but I think the apple employees here are like a box of chocolate (HI Forrest!) Sometimes you get one who might not be helpful and sometimes you get one who is. Having said that I do want to share my two experiences here, which are both positive. 1) A while back I had an issue with changing the alarm ringtones level and had to get help here. One employee was very nice and helped me within 5 min and I was on my way. I could not believe it! Awesome! 2) Last week I had to bring in my iphone 7 for repair. My initial visit took like 20 minutes and I have to admit the lady checking me in wasn't the friendliest in the world but the tech I got was AWESOME! He got me on my way within a few minutes while providing me with a loaner iphone 6. My iphone 7 was repaired timely (within a week as promised) and it only took me like 5 minutes to pick it up. I think the key was that I went during off peak hours. So yeah! I was very pleased with the customer service I got at this place. I was expecting the worst, but nope, I was pleasantly surprised. Damn I feel like an apple fan boy now lol. read more

Very disappointed.. I spend a lot of money on Apple products as I have a business account... I had called the Nanuet location at about 7:30 PM wanting to schedule an appointment to come in and have one of my phones look that.. The tech advised me to just come and I might have to wait a little bit as they did not have any appointments because it was very late in the day, I arrived at the store 10 minutes later... there was maybe eight employees standing around doing absolutely nothing.. I will send away because they were closing their tech-support in about 10 minutes.. spending so much money the rap that help me instead of sending away she could've asked me I see your phone maybe I could check it out being a professional and working at the Apple store for so long... Went into the store to make a mega purchase of 3 iMacs. I needed to make the order through the website (but using Apple Pay) which normally cannot be done. The manager as well as the salesperson TJ did a very innovative way of processing the order so that my needs could be met (yes, this order had to be done a special way that went above and beyond what a normal or even helpful person could do). I came in with a crack screen no one told me that if they open up my phone that they would destroy the phone completely and force me to buy a new phone!! I walked in to buy a Macbook, asked number of guys in blue Apple shirts to get one so I can pay for it, but everyone was pointing at someone else to get one. After I was directed to a forth blue shirt, I walked out of the store. Jobs is no longer with Apple, so is their concern for customer service and innovative products. So I had an appointment for 440 and I got stuck in traffic due to the fact that I live an hour away.. when I arrive I was greater by an Apple tech who tried to diagnose the problem, at this time he checked me in on the iPad and asked me to sit and wait to be called. After waiting about 20 minutes I was called and was helped by a gentleman named Frank I believe. He diagnosed the problem and came up with a solution quickly. Unfortunately due to the time he was unable to solve my problem.. however he referred me to the manager and quickly took care of my needs I am extremely happy with the service and look forward to future purchases here. Completely unexceptional and disgusting experience. Came early (15 minutes ) and was told I was to early to check in and had to wait at a table and after the 15 minutia passed I'd be automatically singed in... 45 minutes latter and after that same Apple employee walked past me a good 10 times making eye contact I asked when I would be seen.... a different employee told me I was never checked in! Fine.... a "technician" came over who told me my issue was 100% fixable and took my Phone to the back room... my issue is that a crumb is stuck in my volume on and off button... This "technician" came out less then 2 minutes latter and told me that my issue is "unfixable" and suggested spending a thousand dollars to purchase the same Phone I already own..... I had made a appointment for 11:50 three days prior. Arrived at the store at 11:45 was greeted at the door and told them my name and appointment time. The young lady looked up my name and pointed to the back table and told me a tech would be with me shortly. I sat there watching employees standing around talking to each other and than saw four people who had come in after me getting help. They all had cell phones so I figured maybe because my problem was with a laptop I was waiting on a "special tech". Finally at 12:15 I had enough and went to a employee and asked for the manager. She ask is there a problem. Well I was furious and told her how I had come in and was still waiting to be helped. She checked her iPad and found that the first employee never checked me in so they did not know I was even there. So here is my first advice. Make sure they check you in if you have a appointment !!!!! I was going to just walk out I was so angry but this manager couldn't be nicer and got me a tech immediately. His name is Tyler and he was the BEST! He was very knowledgeable and so understanding. He spent a lot of time with me explaining every thing. Tyler should be commended by Apple. Because of him my experience went from giving one star to four. Also the manager was able to turn a horrible experience into a satisfied customer. So make sure they check you in, stand there and watch them. Also I hope you get Tyler to help you. He really is top notch. read more

So after my horrible experience almost a week ago, I wrote the awful review here, did some social network bashing and contacted corporate headquarters. I have to say they really tried to make up for the awful experience! I do not have enough nice things to say about the young salesman Eric and the absolutely wonderful Manager Susan. This is how every sale/repair should go. I explained calmly all that had happened, she apologized (and you could tell she was genuine). I am surprised to see the number of one-star reviews of this excellent shop and its friendly, helpful and competent personnel. But then I suppose i shouldn't be, because those reviews are nearly all written by self-important, entitled people who seem to think you can just walk in to an Apple store and demand service. No, you jerks, you have to make an appointment, just as you would at your doctor's or the service facility of your automobile dealer. It's no wonder they have to tell you there will be a five-hour wait...because 50 people smarter than you are actually made appointments. I made a 1:15 appointment today, arrived 15 minutes early, and my session began at exactly 1:16. Within 10 minutes, the tech had identified my problem--failed hard drive on an iMac--and arranged a repair for what I felt was a very fair price ($185 including labor). I was really impressed with the appointment set up which was punctual to the minute and apple care plus process for a cracked screen on my IPhone 6 Plus which ultimately resulted in a quick replacement unit which took about 15 minutes to set up.
