I had my 2 year old MacBook Pro serviced at the Northridge store and I picked it up on Wednesday, Sep 30th in the evening. Long story short Brian replaced it for free with a new one that he opened right in front of us! He also included another 3 year warranty to top it off. I want to personally thank the Genius rep Brian from the Northridge store. He went above and beyond any of my expectations. He was very helpful, polite, professional and understanding with my issues. Brian kept me well informed as to the status of the repair. He is a GREAT asset to your team there. My wife and I cannot fully express the appreciation we have for Brian's assistance in this matter. I could only wish there were more people like Brian that existed in other fields because he gave the most superb customer service I have experienced anywhere in a very long time. If I could give this review no stars I would. This is now my second time with the same Nina that works at the Northridge Apple store. I was in here about a month ago Nina was handling my return in the rudest manner possible, she had nothing but attitude from the get go I couldn't wait to get my return over with and run from the store. Today I returned to the Northridge Apple Store only because the Topanga location is temporary closed. Who walks up to help me but Nina, I said to myself maybe she was just having a bad day, I'll give her a second chance. So I began to tell her I was looking to buy a new laptop and I wanted to know the difference between having a touch bar and not having one. As she was trying to show me, it was clear she had no idea how to access the functions on the touch bar. So she called for help, the guy that was called also had no idea how to access the functions. So I asked her "what are the pros and cons of having a Touch Bar?" Her only answer was if you had some patience I'll answer your question. (First of all I didn't realize I was being impatient I simply had a different question to ask since the Apple technicians were unable to answer my first question because they could access the touch bar) She continued to be rude, so I asked to be helped by someone else she then took it upon herself to give me life lessons.(also extremely rude and unnecessary) My mom was standing right next to me shaking her head at this girl, Nina and her attitude. The manager eventually stepped in... Long story short I left without buying computer and I will not be returning to the Northridge Apple Store. Had an appointment at this store and had to sit and wait for over 30 minutes and I was on a lunch break. All I had to do was drop off a watch for repair that was bought just a week ago at the Thousand Oaks Store. Then, they send my watch in for a hairline repair and I get an email requiring my attention saying I have to pay $69 for accidental damage - fine. Their stupid website does not work to pay and you can't get the store by phone. My watch has been hijacked since Wednesday and if they don't get a response from me by November 6 they are sending back without repair. What kind of customer service is this? By the way, thinking it might have been my computer, I have tried multiple times from different computers and devices with same error message. Gone are the days of being able to walk into the store and get great customer service which is what they were always known for. My Father bought his Macbook from here. The young man who helped us seem disinterested in answering any questions we may have had. In fact he was acting like he was doing us a favor by selling us a macbook. 'Hello' we are the ones paying for the macbook and the least you could do is answer my Father's questions about the laptop. It feels like the employees here expect the products to sell themselves which they do but they don't realize in this economic downturn horrible service like that will make people drive several miles away to another store just to get better service. I had originally bought an iPhone 8 in January and had no problems until a couple months ago, when the phone started power cycling and would have the apple logo appear and then fade several times. When I first came to Apple at the Topanga location, they did not give me a reasoning for the phone being faulty but did replace my phone with either a refurbished or new device (the employee told me they don't know which). After two months my phone developed a crack in the home button whilst charging yet was working completely fine. After a couple days, the power cycling started up again and my phone was and is still inoperable. Today I visited this Apple Store location in order to find out why my home button would crack due to this heat. Instead of receiving any sort of explanation or reasoning as to what was going on, I sat in silence while one of the Geniuses ran the "required tests" as he stated such as a reset and a force restore. Then he claimed that my home button had an impact point on it and therefore they would need to charge me for a display replacement since the home button is not under warranty. I knew that this situation has been occurring with other Apple customers and they have been taken care of with a replacement device since the crack on the home button is not impact but from heat. I did my best to explain that this situation has happened before and is all over the forums and needs to be resolved by the manufacturer. The "genius" said he would go into the back and take a look and see if he has heard of any issues like that and instead he brought his manager over to talk to me. She repeated the exact same words he had said and did not give me any insight onto why the home button would crack from overheating. I went on to say that the impact point is most likely caused from my own thumb since the home button was working fine after the hairline crack and I was using it as it should be used. Still no explanation, the manager and the genius were both just persistent on the impact point/crack in the home button and did not even think to look into my situation even though it is all over the threads on the apple website (which I told them to look at). The one statement I got was that if a post on the Apple website is not coming from an official employee that it is unviable. So, I will be calling Apple Support tomorrow and am going to give a shot at getting help from another store or through Apple directly. Again do not go to this store if you want any clarification or help on your device at the "genius" bar. It seems they are trained to nickel and dime you until they have no other option other than bring a manager out. read more

Just bought myself iPhone 6s Plus in rose gold! So excited! They had great service and everything went smoothly!

I brought my computer in for repair. It started but the screen was very fuzzy. They sent it to a Depot House in Tennessee. It was returned and it would not even start. The screen remained black. WTF? This is not the way it's supposed to work. When you bring a computer in for repair, it should work better when it's returned. It should not not work at all! I'm not sure that I will ever return to this store. I spent 40 minutes on the phone (I got hung up on three times while I was waiting for my call to be "answered"). Then, I set everything up so that my husband could pick up my computer. When my husband go to the store in order to pick up my computer, they had no record of this. He wasn't able to pick it up. What can a person do? I'm on the phone right now, trying to figure what happened... still on hold! As an educator, if I don't do my job, an evaluation gets written... things happen. I went today to purchase a new iphone. This was to be my 6th iphone. I have 2 ipads also. The Apple products are great products, but the sales personnel at the Northridge Apple store was terrible today. I was directed to 3 different sales people to help me out. On Friday I took my Mac Pro into the Northridge Apple Store for service (it will not power up). The guy at the so called "Genius Bar" thinks it is the power supply, which seemed reasonable. He says that because it is an older machine, it can take up to 2 weeks to get the part. He says that the cost would be around 200.00, (same price as Mac Mall) I say that is fine and leave it in with them. Imagine my surprise when two days later, I get a message: that my computer is ready for pick up, come in, and bring my ID. I am stoked, until I get into the store, and after waiting for half an hour, find out that the repair was declined. I tell the service guy that I did not decline anything. He says they left me a message saying that it was not the power supply, and that it will cost a lot of money to fix. I told him I did not get any such message, and that I did not decline any repairs. He says it will cost too much money, and that they will not do the repair. He says take it to a second party repair shop. I then left with my computer. When I got home, I called the Apple store manager, and explained that I was not satisfied with the way I was treated, and that no one made any effort to call and tell me that the Apple Store could not or would not do the repairs. I even played the message they left, telling me that my computer was READY for pick up, (it mentioned nothing about the service not being done). He does not apologize for the lack of communication. He then checks with the service department, comes back and says that my 2007 Mac Pro is "vintage" and they will not work on it. I then ask him where I should take my Mac Pro, since the APPLE STORE will not repair my Apple computer? He says that I should have been given a list of second party authorized Apple repair locations (I was not given a list). He then at least gave me some names of second party repair facilities, and a web address to locate more. To sum it up, if you have a "vintage" mac save yourself some time and aggravation, take it to a second party authorized Apple repair location, because the Apple Store cannot be bothered to repair them. They want you to buy a new 2000.00+ computer every two years. The only way I will take another Mac to the Apple Store for repair, is if it is still under warranty. I gave them 2 stars because at least they only wasted my time, not my money, and some of the employees were helpful. read more

The genius bar is amazing! Juan Fuenes and Oscar Vargas saved me and were so nice. My phone screen died. I went in with my computer for something else and my phone and they were able to save everything backing it up on my computer and then replacing my phone and uploading it. Did not lose one thing. So very thankful. They also helped me with my computer. These guys were so knowledgeable, but most of all very, very, nice guys!!!! Another thing I had no appointment and 5 min. wait time. What a relief it was to have the most amazing girl help me the other day at the Northridge Apple store. Originally I had bought the iPhone 6s at the Glendale Galleria Apple store near my house. Can't say I was given the best advice from some of the employees at the Glendale store when I bought my phone, but that's beside the point, and not the reason I'm writing this review. So anyways about 2 weeks after buying my new phone from Apple, I tried switching out my carriers and moving my service from one carrier to another. (Swapping out sim cards should be fairly simple, right? WRONG! well at least not in my case...it was an absolute nightmare!) To make a long story short... I went from having 2 carriers one minute, to no carriers the next. I was left with no service at all for several days, completely locked out of my phone by the carrier I was trying to leave. As one can imagine, this was incredibly stressful, considering I have no land line to work with while at home. Let's face it, trying to resolve any issue with the slightest bit of complexity using "live chat support" on your computer is almost always a waste of time. So needless to say, I ended up at the Apple store near my work in Northridge, and to my surprise I was handed over to one of the most competent and knowledgeable individuals I've EVER dealt with at an Apple store. Her name is Lauren Timm. I'm pretty sure she is considered an "Expert" at Apple, but I feel like she should be at manager level, the way she straightened out my horrible situation with such ease. My stress level went from a 10 down to 2 in minutes. Lauren must have spent close to 3 hours trying to resolve all my issues. She was relentless, and became the mediator between the 2 carriers and me. God only knows, I needed all the help and patience I could get, because after having no phone service for several days, every other word that came out of my mouth was a swear word. She knew all the right questions to ask the Sprint service workers, and when she didn't get a favorable answer from one person, she'd immediately ask to speak with a supervisor. This went on for quite some time. I think she must have went through a good 3 to 4 tiers of supervisors, before all was said and done. In the end, things turned out way better than I could have ever expected! She not only straightened out the problems with the carriers, but she managed to get me set up in a much better carrier plan than I had before. Honestly, when I walked through the doors that day, I was just hoping someone could help me unlock my phone, so I could at least start using it again. I never anticipated leaving Apple having all my issues resolved, and in a much better carrier plan (paying $40 less/month.) Thanks again Lauren for all your hard work, and extreme patience. You are a true lifesaver! And I hope someday soon, the "Corporate" side of Apple recognizes what a great asset they have with you working for them... You are clearly indispensable in your knowledge and skills of Apple's products, and deserve to be recognized for it! read more

DON'T SHOP HERE. The store is quite busy, but there is no order to the place. Knowlegable and helpful during the sale....all downhill after that. I was warned but went in anyway. Absolutely no follow-up regarding the transfer of information from old computer to new and the management there has a 'like it or leave' attitude. I chose to return my purchase and leave. Steer clear of Apple iphones... Let me tell you why. When something goes wrong, and your backup doesn't work you're just out of luck. The store itself is always super packed with kids that are just busy playing and not buying anything but are in the way of people that do need help. Had so many hardware issues on my iphone. They said it was out of warranty so everything that was wrong would be out of my pockets. After looking at it for hours they gave me a new sim card, which of course didn't fix the problem. Complete waste of money and your crippled because you have to do almost everything through itunes. Not all its cracked up to be. I know they're all the rage right now, but androids work MUCH faster and back up to gmail. Nuff said. read more

When I called I got an enthusiastic sales clerk who could not answer some simple questions. I then made an appointment for the Genius Bar thinking that would help me get to the heart of the matter. Meantime I was on the phone with Apple ordering some new gear. That phone call lasted awhile and when I finally finished with my order I hopped in my car to drive from Valencia to the Northridge Apple Store. My wife called ahead to the Apple Store to let them know I would be delayed by aprox 15 minutes due to being on the phone with Apple. They smugly told her that if I was over 5 minutes late my appointment would be cancelled, no exceptions. I arrived ten minutes after my scheduled appointment and sure enough I was off the appointment list. Sometimes that policy is just plain wrong. I then dropped of my tower for a diagnostic and the clerk advised I would be contacted within aprox 24 hrs. After waiting three days I called on a Wednesday, mid day. After waiting on hold a long time a very smug individual advised me that indeed my logic board was dead and I was out of warranty. The information delivered was not the issue, it was the uber-genious smug employee that I have an issue with. This place is not worth it. I'm buying my new Mac Pro from Mac Connection. It's priced $100 below Apple, there's no $200+ tax, and shipping is free. I purchased a MacBook Pro from Northridge Apple over a year ago, that will be the last major purchase I make there due to poor customer service. Yes, the store is full of window shoppers not buying a thing, browsing the net etc......when I made the trip there I wanted to do business......and was mixed into the masses of non-buyers and marginalized by the employees.... eat my shorts Apple Northridge....I'm outta there! read more

Only if I could give this location 0 stars I would. I always have issues with this location with customer service, or should I say what customer service. The manager BRETT is a joke, I don't know how this guy is even a manager. He is fake, pretentious and will act like he is trying to help you. I had a phone where the vibrate option was not functioning. I was in Hawaii when it happened, mind you my phone was in warranty At the time, but when I got back to LA it was out of warranty by a few days. I made an appointment when I got back and when into the glorious Apple Store in north ridge. First they said its your out of warranty and your vibe motor doesn't work and we would need to replace, $30. I said that's fine, they said it would take 45 min, I waited for 1:45 minutes, first red flag!!! They came back and said its not your vibe motor, and you would need to replace the phone and that it would cost $299. 2nd red flag!!! I asked if they could understand the predicament I was in because I was out of town when my phone stopped working, and if they could work with me. He said it would not be fair to everyone else. Boy I wonder how many people come in every day a few days out of there warranty trying to replace their phones. I asked for a manager and BRETT came to help, or should I say made things worse. I am a manager for a giant retail store and I know when a manager is genuinely trying to help me, or just being completely fake to just pass me over. He didn't offer me any option other then to pay $299 to replace the phone. If I was months out of warranty I would understand, but I was a few days out of warranty. A trillion dollar compNy could help out a loyal customer that's been part of apple for 6 years. But no, not this guy, I was thinking about selling my phone and going with Samsung, I told him this, and he said that's fine go ahead. I was shocked to hear this from a so called manager. I would never do this if a customer said I was going to my competitor. Rule number one in retail, always maintain you loyal customers. Not BRETT, he made this personal. I told him I would call corporate and they will give me an exception and your going to replace the phone anyway, so why not just keep the customer happy and replace the phone. He laughed at me and said "good luck". Strike 3 and I left the Apple Store as bitter as I have ever been with not just the store, but the apple brand itself. I called corporate and after speaking to a gentlemen named Connor for 5 minutes, he was able to help me out and said I could go and pick up my phone from the Apple Store of my choice. So of course I went to the same location where BRETT was. I got the exception from Connor at corporate and wanted to let BRETT know how royally he screwed up, but he gave me the same fake smug look, and I asked him why he wouldn't help me, and he pulled the same BS line about being fair and consistent. I will be going to great legal lengths in making sure BRETT is somehow held accountable for his actions. I will never go to this location ever again because of one managers poor decision making. This is the first time ever I have complained about service, but I feel compelled to because of my horrible treatment at the Northridge Apple Store. I had an appointment at this store and arrived early. The so called "genius" was 20 minutes late. I know they are busy so I was understanding. Theo was the "genius" who was helping me. He had to update my software. While waiting for the updates, he helped another couple, which was fine. After doing the updates he kept talking to the couple, telling me that my phone was fine. I managed to squeeze my next question in asking if I needed a battery, but he said I needed a new screen only. Really, he was only trying to say things to push me away to make time for the other couple--the couple he was helping did not even have an appointment!! I had to keep interrupting Theo and he kept telling me to wait. This went on for 45 minutes. He finally sent me to another person and that employee sent me to a third guy who told me I needed to come back the next day for a new battery because they were closing. If Apple is the only place to update software or fix certain things, I will definitely NOT get another iPhone!!! read more

Let me start of by saying, I normally do not do yelp reviews. The amount of bad customer service I have received from here has caused me to make an account and warn others. The amount of Customer respect they have here is low. I am not going to say the whole store is bad. But, there is a wide majority of workers/managers that will just completely give you the run around. There was only one manager and one employee that truly gave me the respect I expect when I deal with a Business. The manager is Chris and the employee is Luis. They truly tried to help find a resolution for me. Anyone else that I tried to talk to just kept putting me on hold or disrespecting me. The specific managers I am speaking about are Brad and Kevin. It seems to me that they do not care if you come back. They just care about getting more money for their store. They will push you aside just so they can go to another customer to get them to shell out money and the will not approach you unless you call Apple while in the store and complain on the phone. Really? That's how I am supposed to get you to actually come back to me? That doesn't make any sense at all. Brad has no sense of respect for customers. He is a completely arrogant person who could care less if you are satisfied with how you are treated here. Kevin will just avoid you if you have a problem. He will also look for other customers who came in after you and help them first. Avoiding you for as long as he possibly can. This is not how customers should be treated. I would have given this store a higher rating if the rest of them were like Chris and Luis. But, when a majority of the store is a bad bunch, it really hinders the ones who actually try to help customers out. I hope who ever is in charge of this store will read this and actually teach their employees how to properly treat customers. If you are thinking about coming into this store, I hope for you call in first and ask for either Chris or Luis. Iphone 6 Water Damage parameters and replacement issue. Went to Apple Store to get my broken screen and blank black display with still sound and at least responding Siri Friday August 7,2015. Apple "genius" returned my phone dead with $299 bill to get it replace and go on with the reason of water damage and their evidence was rust on the screws with liquid indicator still color white. Walked out and called the apple customer service and spoke to Sean a senior supervisor and found out that the replacement phone was checked out that according to their system was given to me. He said that the system needs to be corrected before I get a replacement and promise to call me back Sunday. Did not receive feedback and have to call them back Monday Aug 10, 2015 and was redirected to a senior supervisor name Wayne. He arranged everything and instructed me to go directly to the store manager name Bryan or Monica. I went then notify their tech about the incident and told me to wait and they made us wait for a long time and still have to deal with the most despicable jerk I've ever encountered in my life. It took me 4 days loads of bullshit before my phone got replaced and to console me from their assholeness they gave me a free case. Made an appointment at the genius bar since the bottom rubbber part of my MacBook was peeling off. I had researched the problem online, turns out it's a common problem the year my MacBook was made. Everyone online said they were able to get it fixed at an apple store in about 15 minutes. I arrive for my appointment. No one greets me or asks if I need help for about five minutes. Violeta finally helps me ten minutes after my appointment time. She doesn't say anything for five minutes looking at the computer and just says well I'm going put in a request for fixing and you can pick it up tomorrow. Normally this wouldn't be a problem except I was going out of town the next day for work and needed my computer. So I said this wouldn't work for me and I could I being it at a later time then all of a sudden the computer can be fixed in 45 minutes. She obviously just didn't want to fix it. I come back later see violata she practically throws the computer at me with the recipect. Luckily my computer got fixed. Took an hour as opposed to the 15 minutes it should have taken. If you ever have to deal with Violeta you will be dealing with a rude person and I suggest you come back when someone else can help you. read more

To anyone that has young children with i pad's. You know how important it is for these things to work properly...i purchased an iPad for my daughter for Christmas. She was having problems with the volume...thank goodness..lol she didn't want to tell me in fear of it being returned and losing her down loaded material..understandable..we took it to the Apple store in the Northridge mall. The wait was an hour, but not bad considering it was only a couple days after Christmas. The customer service there was great...the problem was programing and the inexperience with the new i pad's. The service representative programmed the i pad correctly and explained the steps to take if another problem would a rise. My daughter was so happy to have the problem solved without having to part with it from her hands for more then a few minutes . Walked in at 10am on Thursday to have my iPhone looked at. I had dropped it a week prior and the screen had cracked. I went online to order a screen to try and replace it myself, then an Apple employee from another store tells me that I'm still under warranty. I was not informed that once I try to replace it myself the warranty is void. So I'm thinking, I'll try to save Apple employees sometime and replace it myself, if it doesn't work, I'll bring it in. Turns out the screen that I bought was the wrong screen. So I take it in the Apple store now, and I hear nothing but GREAT customer service from Apple so I expected nothing less. First person that greets me, belittles me and tells me "well if you didn't know that your warranty would be void, you wouldn't have bought the new screen." But I explained to him that I had bought the screen prior to even knowing I could get it replaced easily by Apple. So he sets me up an appointment. The person who helps me with the phone also speaks to me in a demeaning tone. Ok, sorry I effed up trying to save you some time from fixing my problem. I know that I voided my warranty, but no one told me after the fact. Regardless, there is no need to treat me like I'm a stupid idiot, I already know I am. Whatever happened to good customer service?
