I do not know why Apple calls this a Genius Bar because their staff are total idiots. Especially Chris some short white guy with a beard straight up lied to me with whoever his "manager" is and told me that if I were to purchase a gift card on the Apple site that it would show up fairly quickly in my email and of course I'm sitting here wasting valuable time, might have to come back, absolute crap. Then the wait when I even came in here was to say the least, time consuming. Then I'm sitting here and they act like some random person on a payroll for a company, told the lady I had conversation with on Apple.com that I would be the one picking up the phone for my boss. You think then they would tell you not to bring my bosses card and organize with my boss differently. They act like I would come here with this lady's card and phone ready to lose my job. The amount of time I have spent in here makes me question my employment standings. Now I'm about to go back to the office and look like I just used her card to purchase an Apple gift card for myself when I'm waiting for an email to save the day. I have been even in the Greenwich branch and it was a much more enjoyable experience. Little do they know, I want an Apple pen, my AirPods are lost and I still have my case, I have two Apple iPads that need replacement and an iPhone 6 Plus that I also want replaced. If they think I am coming in here and purchasing anything besides this transaction for my boss after it is finally complete, they are sadly mistaken. Honestly they should just fire everyone here except a gentleman by the name of Carmine, and start this genius thing over, instead of having me sit here and use my review talents to bring their 2.9 even lower. read more

I don't know why they have so many bad reviews.. My experience is always wonderful, the team is great!

I went into the store due to having issues with the iPhone's headphone jack. En route to the store I experienced some traffic on I-95 and called the store they put me into another appointment time slot to accommodate my delay. If you miss your appointment by more than 5 minutes you are removed out of the queue. The Genius Administrator that I worked with was named Scott and he was very helpful. He listened to my issues and we addressed each issue one at a time. He tested the audio and was able to fix it by cleaning out the headphone jack in the back. He let me use his headphones to hear the music and confirm that this issue was resolved while giving me some advice for maintenance of the headphone jack. (advice was to use compressed air like I use on my PC & keyboard) The store was very crowded, but all of the staff that I interacted with were helpful. I did notice that they went out of their way to speak to anyone who looked like they need help or some input on any of the offerings in the store. For instance, while I waited to be called for support I spoke with a staff member to inquire about the Airport Express products. I had researched these online, so I had a bunch of questions. He provided me with detailed information as well as a hands on demonstration and recommendations on best practice for using the product. The second issue however was not resolved. The phone lags when using some of the apps. I needed to ask them to check this using a system scan utility, because as I figured when I wanted it to not work this behavior was not present. The scan showed that there were some issues, but in order to replace the potentially defective product I needed to restore the phone as if it was brand new and then see if this behavior happened again. If this issue reappears I will have an open support ticket and then may be able to get a new phone. This will mean I will have to drive back down to Stamford to get this issue resolved, which will be a little inconvenient. The fact that this is the closest Apple Store in the area for me isn't the fault of this store, but doesn't help me. read more

This is the worse store I've ever been. Will never buy stupid iPhone again with this kind of service. Last time I came to replace my battery, whose life is only mildly shorter than expected. I waited 1.5 hours even with a reservation. They replaced a battery that dies precisely at 49% every single time! I made another reservation and waited another good 2 hours. I can't understand the low rating here. I've been buying, using, fixing and replacing apple products through this store for years. I've always been treated with respect and generally waited not more than ten minutes past an appointment. Sometimes a product has been damaged by me; sometimes a defect has appeared spontaneously out of nowhere. I pay if it's my fault but the staff concedes and bears the cost when it is theirs. Apple products are ridiculously expensive and their corporate strategy is going to have to change in that regard (evidenced already in new pricing for the current phone AFTER I bought mine). But this is not the Fault of the Stamford store. I'm sure people have bad experiences but my "sample set" of experiences is pretty large with six family members deeply imbedded into these products. read more

I made an appointment online for the Genius Bar to have them diagnose a MacBook Pro that wouldn't start up. I had brought it into Device ER in Westport (an Apple Authorized Service Provider) the day before (the Apple rep I spoke to the phone actually made the appointment for me) Device ER told me it would cost close to $600 to fix it (they said it was a hardware issue). The Genius Bar rep did a hard restart and ran some tests on the laptop, and found nothing wrong with the laptop. It now works fine. She said there was no way it should cost anywhere close to $600 to fix it. So, I paid $0. Had I gone with Device ER, I would have been out $600. I am shocked that Apple considers Device ER an Authorized Service Provider. From now on, I am not taking any chances - bringing my computers to the Apple store if I have a problem. read more

I'm an Apple fan from way back but this store's Genius Bar deserves extra praise, and this isn't the first time I've felt that way. On the eve of July 4th weekend my laptop crashed, I was heading out of town for vacation and work. I live an hour's drive from the shop and ran in frantic. They kindly squeezed me into an appt, assured me they'd repair asap over the holiday weekend and in general were super helpful to a stressed out me. When it was ready,on my way backhome, I was running late and called to say I might not get there till 9:10, (they close at 9) and if i missed them, it'd be an hour drive both ways for me the next day to pick up the laptop.. They very kindly let me run in and bang on the window when I got there, unlocked, had my repair ready to roll, and were gracious about staying late. Genius Bar scheduling process is broken. They sent me an email confirming 2:05 appt. yet when I arrived they said I missed my 1:05. Showed them the email. Got a shrug. They put me at the end of the line. Why bother scheduling an appt. it's like the DMV here wth literally 7 "geniuses" standing around doing nothing. The more I stand around waiting the more I am thinking this is just like the airlines. They have. Rosen things down into such small tasks that no one is actually empowered to help you. I was greeted by one woman, interviewed about the problem by another and referred to a man to replace my battery. The implicit sexism of this store would make an interesting case study. read more

I came here with my mom not too long ago to look at ipads. My mother is one of the most technologically retarded people I know. She still doesn't know how to listen to voice mail on her razor cell phone. Anyway- She flagged down an associate to ask her barrage of questions that I just answered some of the questions were, "can it be used as a phone?" "how does it get internet?" "does it come with a light?" That being said, the associate did not cringe or even roll his eyes. He answered all the questions with as much sincerity as she posed them. I was on the verge of crawling under the display with embarrassment. The thing that really made me happy was he didn't pressure her to buy one. He didn't pressure her to buy anything at all actually. That store is super chaotic but everyone who works there always seems relaxed and knowledgeable. I'm happy to spend my money there, not to mention the products are awesome. read more

Apple contacted me saying my iMac model hard drive was found to be defective. It was working fine but just to be safe I brought it to the Apple Store in Stamford to be replaced for free as part of their replacement program. 3 days later it was ready...so I went to pick it up. When I got home and plugged it in the iMac wouldn't even turn on. So I had to pack it back up and bring it back...they couldn't even turn it on at the store and think that they forgot to plug the power cord inside the computer back in. I'm sitting here while they are taking it apart again...not very happy. Forgot to mention...this store is in a mall so you have to pay for parking each time and lug the 50lb machine through the mall to the store. read more

Eyeroll. This place is hit or miss. I actually dread coming here and have to mentally prepare myself before I set foot in this place. If you need an appointment at the genius bar expect to have to wait a good 15 minutes after your appointment time. The employees at the genius bar are also hit or miss. Some are kind, understanding, helpful and miracle workers. Some are willing to work with your situation and give you a reasonable remedy. Some are smug, disinterested, rude, confused and seem to have no idea what they're talking about. Some can make a stressful situation worse and induce an anxiety attack with their love of delivering bad news with no sympathy. Sometimes I am immediately asked if I need help upon entering the store and at other times it can feel as though I am begging to be heard and chasing employees around hoping they'll turn around to offer help so that I can buy something. I'm used to the crowds in the store. That's a given with most Apple stores, but this location goes beyond the suffocating crowds. This location is constantly inconsistent, frustrating and the customer service is such a let down. read more

There's one thing that really sets this Apple Store apart from most of its brethren, and thats (obviously) the free hot-dogs and beverages they make available to customers. I know Apple is renowned for creating pleasing retail spaces, but I must give them kudos on this touch; where else, in the world of retail electronics, do you have a guy in chef's whites manning a barbecue grill? Nowhere, thats where. The store is otherwise quite similar to any other Apple Store, but the grill makes it worth checking out, if only to appreciate the marketing concept. Pretty cool. I am afraid I have to give these guys 1 star. I love apple products. They have been a godsend to my autistic son for a number of years. But this store just does not know customer service at all. Started on 11/29 when I went into the store to have them look at my headphones during the week about 1/2 hour to close . Kind of late, I get it. The guy at point in front asks me the issue and, as I am about to speak, he asks me to keep it short. That there were people coming in behind me. I turned around and saw no one and asked him if I should leave or go to another store if I was too much of a burden. Instead I make an appointment for 2:10 on 11/30. That meeting goes well. I am able to explain my issue and the associate at the genius bar says they will send out overnight. Will be 3-5 days. I will get an email before they send it back. I go back in today. They just tell me it is in process. 9 DAYS LATER. They claim it was dropped off on 12/4 but I have my email showing the genius bar appointment on 11/30. Did not think about it until I got to my car. Why did 4 days elapse between when I dropped it off and when they allege I dropped it off? What is the issue here with these guys? Where is the transparency? And I can hardly wait to see how they "fix" my headphones with my engraved name on them. That is a $500+ bet I will not make again as I have already replaced them with something better and for a lot less money. read more

I had a reservation! I waited patiently. Horrible people, don't even listen to me. I had to call the Apple's customer service line to confirm my tech problem and they asked me to go back to the store. No one in the store even would even listen to their own technician on my phone. It was crazy. After 2 hours of dealing with this with two kids in tow; I finally put my phone on speaker so they could listen to the Apple support person on the phone tell them it was a hardware issue and they didn't need to run a diagnostic test. I didn't even get an apology at the end when it was clearly their issue. read more

Only good experiences with the Genius Bar. I've had to make appointments a handful of times for my phone or mac book and the process has been great. Easy to schedule, show up, little to no wait, knowledgeable staff for the most part. In general, fixing your computer or phone is a pain and this Apple store makes it slightly more bearable. It's really warm and crowded in here, though, so dress accordingly. read more

The one complain I have about the store is the lack of inventory. It seems when I go in there they dont have the thing Im looking for. Some of the staff there are very incompetent and usually just tell you that your part needs to be replaced without explaining the cause of the computer problem. Luckily I was covered under warranty so I didn't have to pay a thing, but for those who don't have warranty...go somewhere else. You will also avoid long lines, hassle, and crowded spaces. read more

Terrible! Absolutely terrible. I went in to get my I phone x fixed. I had an incident at work where my phone was in my pocket, in an otter box, and I got about as wet as if you were to run through a garden hose. It's not like it was sitting in water. For those who don't know the x is water resistant up to 2 meters,(6 feet!) The phone worked but the screen died. I could still make calls using Siri, I just couldn't use or see the screen. The first technician checked the tab that would turn red if it got wet right in front of me and she said there was no sign of water damage it was still white. The second technician did the same thing but behind the counter and then took my phone in the back. He came back out and told me the phone's main components were fried, that there was still water inside and I would need a new phone for $550. I knew they were going to pull some sh*t like this... I went to the cell doc repair kiosk right down from Apple. They took the screen off right in front of me, right after I left Apple and it was completely dry. They put the new screen on my phone and it worked perfectly. Apple probably didn't even bother to look at my phone,came out after hearing my story, and told me I just needed a new phone trying to take advantage of a situation. They should do the repairs right in front of you so you know what your getting! These guys are lying to you about how your phone cannot be fixed. It's a scam for the naive customer and there should be laws to protect the consumer! Absolutely pathetic that the only way to keep up with the competition is to screw over their own customers. This might be my last iPhone. read more

We went in with to potentially purchase an apple watch, ipad and a comoute, but we were extremely disappointed with the costumer service. No one cared to ask whether we need help or have any questions regarding the product. When we did get some help, they hardly knew anything about the product or gave us completely wrong information. The first hour in the store was horrible, none of the employee seem to be helpful, they were standing by one bench and talking to each other. We were extremely lucky to meet Thomas, who helped us with everything. He was legally blind, but was so helpful and knew everything about the apple product and help us get what we needed. If you ever go into this store, look for Thomas, everyone else there is useless. We walked out buying an apple desktop, sonos speaker, ipad, and pair of beats headphone. And for all these product, Thomas help us understand the pros and cons before purchasing it. Thank you Thomas! read more

The apple store is usually very helpful in helping me with my mac and iphone problems, however the genius bar helper, Dominic, is the rudest, most awful and unhelpful employee that I've encountered thus far. I made a Mac appointment, showed up 10 minutes early, was helped 10 minutes late. He told me he didn't know how to fix my problem within the first two minutes. In addition, I asked him a question about my iPhone (I never asked him to fix it or anything just a simple question because I thought apple employees were somewhat educated in products they sold of popular demand) he told me he couldn't tell me the answer to my question and that I needed to make another appointment. you've got to be kidding me. Bad costumer service in this store also online. In this store they have wrong information and they don't know about their business . Online lousy service !! Order something on February 25 and they said will be delivery in 3 days but on 03/04/2020 someone called from a number unknown from the state of Texas saying they need to conform my order and the call sounds like was from China because the lady who spoke to me had a heavy Chinese accent. I was very upset and disappointed that took them 8 days to confirm my order after l placed the order and everything went thru. I need that phone for a gift and after 7 days was too late because they said l'll had in 3 days. Apple people just wants to make money and they are big and just take advantage of their customer!! I'm sick of apple making me to buy phone when l had one already, twice happened to me that when they have a new phone come up they sent waves to my phone and l have to rush to the store and buy new phone this happening to me twice. This is disrespectful to their customers and Tony's as humain being a big company like Apple doesn't need to be trick because always will be a lot of people ready to buy a new phone. I don't want to buy a new phone because l don't like to waste and why should l buy new phone if l had one that was working? Now l heard that they paying $ 25 for people who bought a new phone when they did that and we must have to subscribe to have the $ 25 back? Oh!?! Really?!? The government should force Apple to give the money we spent to buy a new phone unnecessary. $ 25 dollars don't even pay for one month usage fee from Verizon. I am only giving this place 5 stars is because I love Apple and the employees there that are actually good are the best. When you first walk in most times employees are ready to greet you and help if you need any. Sometimes that's great and it depends on the person. I personally don't like that but I can see how that's better than having to chase someone down for help. The Genius Bar here is pretty good. The people I've dealt with are very nice, helpful, and understanding. But I can see with some other people they aren't as fortunate and get employees who seem a little untrained or don't seem like they want to help. People should work at Apple stores because they want to and because they like Apple not just a way to get money to live because then they don't care about customers and that's wrong.
