I have had a boatload of problems with my MBP 2017 (seriously, it was not uncommon to spend 1-2 hours or more on the phone with a senior advisor at Apple Care, a few times a week when it got bad). This was when the MBP was less than three years old. I had so many problems with processor speed moving so slowly the MBP was pretty much non-functional. A competent Apple Care senior advisor made an appointment for me to go into the store March 2020. Then COVID happened and the store closed. I finally ended up going into the Apple Store in late summer/fall. I was taken aback by the not-so-helpful advisor, Thunder, who took my MBP, ran a diagnostic that took about 30 seconds and told me "there is nothing wrong with it." I explained the many hours I'd spent on Apple Care and how a senior advisor and I had just spent HOURS on diagnostics. The advisor was the one who told me to go to the store. "There's nothing wrong with it," said Thunder, again. Exhausted from fighting with my Mac, I asked for senior advisor and Mr. Attitude stepped aside. The MBP was repaired (though the next day when I picked it up, no one could tell me what was done besides telling me, "it's fixed now!") and when I got home, I could see no difference in performance. More of the same sluggish behavior. More hours on the phone with Apple Care for me. I use my MBP for work and Zoom, so this situation was not workable. Another Apple Care senior advisor made yet another appointment for me to go to the Apple Store in CM (less than a month since I last went to the store and I was told nothing is wrong). This time a technician happened to check me in, he listened to me and although I had to pay $100, the display assembly AND the "Logic Board, 2.3 GHz..." was REPLACED. Hear that Thunder? There was SOMETHING wrong or they wouldn't have replaced the logic board, would they? I used to love the Apple Store, I used to rave about Apple Care, but lately I've been met with incompetence and surly reps. Ugh. I don't remember the technician's name, but he was a GREAT employee who gave me the kind of customer service I used to get from Apple all of the time... Rating of first rep - 0 stars, rating of the technician - 5 stars minus all of those lost hours on the phone with Apple Care = 2 stars. read more

We ended up here because my wife's brand new phone broke while we were on vacation in Vegas. Although we were told by the employee who sold us the phone, that the phone would be covered under Apple's warranty for a year, we were never educated about the difference between the warranty and Apple Care, so we never bought into Apple Care. After the phone broke, we were told it would not be covered under the warranty (even though we originally told it would be) and we would have to purchase a new phone for $600...fine. We bit the bullet and bought the phone with Apple Care to ensure that if anything did happen, we would be covered. Fast forward a week, and my wife notices that the employee who sold us the replacement, used the serial number of her old phone to register for Apple Care!!! It must be a miracle, because the way these so called geniuses explained things to us, is that Apple Care could not be applied to the old phone; that it would be impossible to do...Obviously it's not impossible if they were able to make the mistake. We spent the next week trying to figure out what went wrong with Apple over the phone, to save ourselves a trip to back to the Apple Store. No luck. The final gentleman we spoke to working the phone for Apple, told us the only way the problem would be fixed, would be for us to head back to the store we bought the phone from...more time wasted, after already having been assured by at least 3 other customer service agents that the problem could be resolved simply over the phone...I guess they're just as incompetent over the phone as they are in person. Bringing things back to the interactions we had in the store, I can't stress enough, the disrespect and blame the employees put on their consumer. This has been our experience with EVERY EMPLOYEE. Have it be in the store or over the phone, Apple employees (I refuse to call these people geniuses when basic knowledge of customer service can't even be implemented) never take responsibility for their own mistake and somehow place the blame on the consumer. Apple is a scam. The sheep who choose to work for this company are brainwashed and attempt to brainwash their consumers in the same way. Strong willed people don't use Apple products. Let's go back to the professionalism of their so called management team...instead of referring to customers as 'sir' or 'miss,' I was referred to as bro. My experience with Apple is no where close to positive; I'm not sure where he got the idea he would be able to call me bro without me saying something about it...I'm not your bro, and never will be. He also continued to escalate the issue instead of trying to fix the problem. Why would you fixate on my laughter as a way of dealing with the stress your team has only perpetuated for my wife and I? Take the blame, compensate the consumer for the time, energy and stress you have caused and move on...these are very basic practices successfully managers use to ensure their consumers return...let's just say, that I have a Pixel instead of an iPhone for a reason. read more

I had the pleasure of being helped out by Cole on Mother's Day. I had been struggling and debating on whether or not I "needed" an iPad considering I had recently purchased a MacBook Air. Cole had walked me through the pros and cons of my needs and wants and he went above and beyond to help me reach a decision I was happy with. I really appreciate that he truly knows what he's talking about and knows the ins and outs of the products you sell, and wasn't trying to convince me to buy the most expensive thing, but lead me to what I actually needed to enhance my job performance. This store is pretty awful. My last couple of experiences have been awful. The first recent bad experience is when my iPhone needed to be replaced because of a speaker malfunction . They replaced with a refurbished phone. This part was my fault but I forgot my passwords to get in because it was a long password vault generated one. Long story short with this is that it turned out to be a disaster because now I couldn't access anything including my car. I went back into the store and asked for help. They seem to not know what they were talking about. They said the only thing I could do is to wipe the phone and restart everything but that still wouldn't solve my problem. I called apple and didn't have success with time on the phone the first time. I went back into the store flustered and tried to get help. I made eye contact with an employee and he pretended to not see me and walked away. I could tell the staff was avoiding me at this point because they didn't want to deal with me or a complicated problem. I saw them talking to each other casually and ignoring me. I eventually got the answer from the second time I called apple. And the answer was so simple. I just needed to go to a website and reset my Apple ID through a process. It took minutes but this store's employees never told me about it cost me over an hour of frustration. The most recent experience was when I needed to return two items. Should take a couple minutes right? They have 30 shirts walking around! Now, it seems apple basically has a bouncer at the front now. They step in front of you and make you register before you can go in the store. I told him I just needed to return something. He said "Well, you still have to check in to do that." What? No, I just need to return something and you should get someone for me. Whatever so I "register" with him to do something that already should have been taken care of. He said, "it looks like it will be 30 minutes." Haha are you kidding me? 30 minutes to return something? They have a 14 day return policy so I said I have to return these devices because it's almost 14 days. They didn't care. This is insane. Apple needs to step their game way way up. Stop having a bouncer at your door. Hire people who care and actually have knowledge. Do not tell someone it's 30 minutes to return something. Ridiculous. This company is a multi TRILLION dollar company and they have a crap store at least this location. read more

Bought a MacBook Pro here in summer of 2019 and the touchscreen stopped working! I've hardly used this laptop - they charged me over $600 for a repair because it was past warranty, which is an excuse since they've been closed for 3 months during the pandemic and we've had awful fires. Came in to get my phone fixed, when I first came in I was helped immediately got checked in and was told to wait about 5-10min for assistance and someone would be right with me, which was great the store was practically empty there was not many customers. I walked around for a little bit checking out the inventory and then sat down at the table to wait. NOT ONE of the about 15 employees standing around chatting with each other came to check on me or ask if I needed help or was being helped. I waited for about 40min before walking out, again without anyone asking if I needed anything. The customer service was absolutely AWFUL. Coming from someone who has worked in the service industry for about 15yrs, I was expecting better. It was very sad to see so many employees not doing their job. read more

We've being buying apple computers, phones and watches for 35 years. I've made every one of those purchases through the Apple Corte Madera store literally since the first day it opened. I will never, ever shop in that store again. We made an appointment, answered their covid questions, had our temperatures scanned and we granted access. Then the upsell bait and switch games began. Oh no, we don't have the iMac 27" you want that was in stock at this store 20 minutes ago, but we can sell you one today with a 2tb drive right now. Oh no, we don't have the MacBook Pro in silver that was in stock at this store 20 minutes ago, but you can wait a month to get it or you can get it in space gray right now with a larger hard disk... You need to have your apple watch fixed? No problem. But you'll have to wait an hour before our tech has time for you, and you'll have to book another appointment to pick it up. So when did COVID-19 become an excuse for shitty service? For selling tactics I'd expect in a used car lot, not In an Apple store. The associate called over their manager - I guess they could tell though our masks how utterly angered and shocked by slimy and "un-Apple" "service" we both were. We listened to his excuses, told them what we thought of there upsells and no's, what was a great experience and now is a trap for the unwary. We went home, bought exactly what we wanted online, got help via an online sales associate that answered our questions and will have it in about ten days at exactly the same price. I bought a new Mac mini 80 days ago. The logic board failed. I called Apple Support and they sent me to Mobile Kangaroo in San Rafael Ca for diagnosis and repair. Almost 2 weeks later, Apple can't replace the logic board and they have no timeline for the replacement part being available. So my computer which i use for work is defective and I need it replaced. Online support CANNOT help at all. I am not certain if the Corte Madera CA store where i purchased it will even let me in due to COVID and if they did, a manager would have to approve a replacement. I WILL NOT allow it to be shipped anywhere as it's been out of my hands for 2 weeks and there are no spare parts. I will NOT wait another week to have it replaced by mail. So what do I do? I will begin the Credit Card Dispute immediately and then go buy a new one at Best Buy. I am SO sick of APPLE's continued unwillingness to support it's brand new products when the machine breaks within weeks of purchase. Steve Jobs would be turning over in his grave at this. I just bought the new iphone there and really disappointed by the quality of service and unwillingness of the staff to help you to migrate your data from your old phone to new one. I spent about 1 hour with no result of migrating the data to new phone, also store Wi-Fi was slow, and the staff just kept suggesting that I should wait more. I did it at home for less than 15 minutes. Very disappointing! read more

Poor customer service. I stopped in Weds morning for help with my laptop and iPhone. No appts until the next morning so I cancelled my morning work appts for the following day and took a 10:30am for my laptop and a 11:15am for my iPhone at the Genius Bar. My laptop seemed fine that evening so I cancelled my first appt. I arrived Thursday (today) early at 11am and checked in with the curly, silver-haired store manager. I told him I needed the restroom and would be right back. I returned at 11:10am for my 11:15am appt and checked in with him again. He told me Ricardo would be over to help me. I sat at a table in the middle of the store twiddling my thumbs for 45 minutes while everyone buzzed and swirled around me, never asking me if I needed help or whom I was waiting for, etc. Finally at 12noon, I got up and informed the manager I had to leave for an appt in Novato. He apologized and admitted that I just slipped through the cracks and was left waiting for no apparent reason. What a waste of my time and money (lost income). I'll stick to the Union Square location for future service. I've never had a problem there and they at least have their s*it together. read more

I went to the Corte Madera Apple Store with an appointment to purchase a new phone. While waiting for a sales rep, I wasn't feeling well, told the staff I needed to sit down on something solid - not the uncomfortable, precarious stools within the store. I went outside to sit on a bench. Within moments, the sales rep located me, understood my issue, and began to help me with obtaining a new phone. His name is Nate, and he is truly great. He ran back and forth, in and out of the store while I remained outside. He made sure we had the right phone, that it was set up correctly, that everything transferred from my old dead phone to the new one. There was a glitch in the transfer, and Nate found a way around it. If Nate's amazing customer service and support weren't enough, he brought me water after I'd said I was dehydrated. His care and compassion for my personal health - along with my new working iPhone - OMG? Wow. Amazing. I LOVE YOU, NATE! I understand safety during Covid, but when I made the appointment for repair, I was not aware it was a drop Off only. In the past someone looked at it to give an idea of what's wrong immediately. Now, it's just drop off and at the mercy. There is a middle ground on how to handle repairs during Covid. This is not it. I don't like apple products. I stopped using an apple computer about 20 years ago because I was the only appleite in the corporate team I was with at the time, and half the documents didn't work for me. After I got my mind right I became much happier with windoze pcs. My main problem with apple is the company somehow still owns everything you buy or do with their products. A portion of the purchased music in my library is useless (but maybe not now?) because it's coded in that single sourced apple m4p format. This is not to say that Google and microsoft don't have a dossier on all of us, which is why I use duckduckgo for a lot of searches. But these last, unfortunately, tend not to be as focused as is Google for my needs and interests. But after all that's what's really the problem with Google: its overwhelming awareness of me, you and everyone we know. But on to my reason for wandering one recent day into this store: I felt it was time to give up trying to adapt to my latest android phone. Fortunately I knew exactly which iphone I wanted, and told the greeter as much the minute he said "Welcome to apple, sir, how may I help you?" Me: "I wanta buy an iphone xx." Not so fast, according to the greeter, "Let me get a sales person to help you with your needs." I suspected where this was headed, to a requisite intereview scripted by the marketing department, and I was in no mood for it. "I don't need any 'help' because I know exactly what I want. So how do I buy one?" The greeter seemed a bit alarmed with such unaccustomed directness, but he continued to recite his lines. "The iphone you want is on that table over there, please wait and someone will be over in a minute." OK OK so I waited, and finally here comes another young guy who seemed intent on helping me. "So, sir, are you upgrading to a new iphone?" No. "So have you had an iphone before?" No and I'm ready to buy this one right here, here's my card. "Look," he says, "I'm just trying to make sure you have chosen the iphone that's right..." Now I'm getting very impatient as there were other things more pressing for my day than being interviewed by this salesguy, so... Can you just sell me the damn phone or do I need to speak to another sales person? "You don't have to use profanity, sir, I'm just trying to help, now if you'll just calm down." One last time I looked him in the eye and said, look if you can't just make this sale now let's find your manager and see if he'll resolve your communication problem. At that point he relented and asked if I wanted to include applecare+ which I didn't. After all that, and after paying for the iphone, it unfortunately turned out the product wasn't in stock and wouldn't be for weeks. Probably even more unfortunate is that I gave apple my real name and contact information. Now the marketing department won't be leaving me alone. I can only hope that this phone, when I finally get it, is more user-friendly than buying it has been. I would say go anywhere else than the Corte Madera store, but something tells me these guys are all the same, everywhere. read more

The Watch setting wasn't fixed so will have to call Apple Care but the shopping center is beautifully done with incredible landscaping and so clean . The whole town. Apparently, one line is where you have an audience with Saint Peter (dude with a beard and mask) who will review everything you have done in life up until that point, and determine if you are worthy to enter the store to shop. Line two, similar, but as far as anyone could tell, was for Genius Bar appointments. I knelt before Saint Peter, and said I have only but one question. Can you confirm how much money I have on my Apple Card? Lighting, thunder from the heavens. "We are THE Apple Store, NOT online Apple. Those are very different things!" Yes, I'm aware I replied. Can't you simply scan my Iphone wallet and let me know? "I only have a normal Iphone, I dont have the 'special' attachment. Those are inside.The soonest appointment is in 5 hours". After much back and forth, St. Pete relinquished and or was bored with me, and allowed me to enter the Temple of Mac and was directed to the pew at the back, where I was assisted by a kind associate who answered my question in less than 15 seconds. When I wanted to credit the cost for the newest model less than 24 hours later, they refused. My son went in to buy air tags. This Apple store is always busy, but that should not give the employees the right to be rude. He was ignore again and again while I watched him wait patiently. Very bad customer service. I came in the store once for a screen replacement and they told me I can come anytime I have an hour and I didn't need an appointment. Today I walked in and they told me that I needed an appointment and needed to come back. I'm very busy and I hate wasting time. The customer service person didn't care at all so I had to walk away. That is not the way to treat customers especially when they were the once giving weong info in the first time. Stay away from this store if you value time! read more

My daughter's MacBook Pro had some glitches. We made an appointment, turns out it was a "swollen battery" due her charging it 24/7. She's always on her laptop; they're inseparable. She'll literally freak out without her laptop like the commercial where the girl holds onto her laptop for dear life! Thank goodness for the Apple Store, we finally have some peace in the house ~ phew! It was pure insanity, Linda Blair moment (insert scene from The Exorcist)! She thought I had to buy a brand new laptop. Not sure why she assumes I would buy another one; I'd make her buy it...she has a job. The cost to fix this "swollen battery" was $150. She freaked out for nothing - teenagers! Tip: Always make an appointment. read more

Always busy and crowded that I had to keep making eye contact and repeatedly said "Excuse me" just so I could ask them a question or buy accessories and be out the door. Once you got their attention, it was pretty fast. If you could get their attention... Most of time, I just left and ordered online. 80% of the time I had to deal with the sales' attitude when I made a small purchase AKA buying accessories, not a new phone, Apple Watch or laptop etc. People would still buy here, I'm sure. One of my better Apple Store experiences. Was able to check into both my Genius Bar appointments via the Apple Store app, very cool. From there and like magic, both Geniuses managed to find me in a crowded store, how do they do that?! Both Geniuses were super nice and very personable. They got down to business fairly quickly and sent me on my way within about 30 minutes. Ends up there were several hardware failures, screen and audio, so Apple replaced my iPhone with a new one. Yay! It's only a few months old and still under Apple Care. They're also replacing the screen on my out of warranty MBP/r free of charge, the reflective coating was coming off. Instead of me having to trek all the way back to Corte Madera to pick up my MBP, they're mailing it to my house instead, what service. On a side note, the location of the store is in the middle of a fortress style shopping center. So be sure to give yourself extra time to make your appointment. All in all, awesome! read more
