    Decided to look at some new fruit stuff. This location is towards the S end of the mall. Parking can get a bit crowded, especially since they tore down the old Sears parkade. Try parking on the W (Minoru) side if the E (No.3) side is full. Becuase it was that time of year, the store was pretty packed. The place seemed a bit short staffed. With that said, I saw some staff members fiddling with their devices (didn't look like they were working) but also not helping anybody, despite there being a crowd around them. Even tried making eye contact with them. No dice. Not too impressed. Finally managed to find a staff member to talk with and he was able to answer my questions and send me on my way.

    I came to the Apple store in Richmond Centre and I definitely think that there is room for improvement in organization. I wanted to get my Apple IPad looked at because it wasn't working and I always feel like I'm going through a Disneyland line up with no ride at the end. I made an appointment and I came back and still some confusion with line up. I always wondered why there is a lot of Apple service providers inside standing around and yet few customers inside, but a long line outside. Hope to come back to see some improvement in this store.

    Should you ever find yourself in a mall in this part of Vancouver, rest easy that they do have a big ol' Apple Store. Actually, I think the way it works with them is that should you ever need to go to the Apple Store, you should find yourself in this big ol' mall. Will this Apple Store experience be any different than any of the others? I know for me it wasn't. It's the same old Apple Store experience--minimalist, IKEA-esque, lots of semi-aloof employees, tons of gadgets, and people pawing all over them. I poke fun at the look but I actually don't love store that are too "busy" visually, so I like that it's broken up into different tables/counters and that you can touch the things that you're about to drop tons of dough on, before you actually spend that dough. I don't, however, want to go into the boondoggle that is setting up an appointment with a genius, or trying to deal with them on a weird phone issue, so let's just skim over that. It's enough to say that I don't love it--but I think of that as more of an Apple corporate thing, and not so much a thing with retail stores. Honestly, I think most sales are made before people even walk in the door. So I'm glad there's an internet showroom where we can test drive things, but for me, I'm probably still more apt to buy them online.

    It's hard to write a review for a store, with a multinational, iconic brand behind it. The theory is that every store is the same, no matter where you are in the world. This doesn't give much for Yelpers to write about. Since this store is newly opened (2 days as of the time I'm writing this review), the Genius bar seems to be not as booked as the Oakridge Centre location, here in the Lower Mainland. So if you're looking for some help, and Oakridge seems full all the time, try this location instead.

I don't write negative reviews often, but this has been one of the worst consumer experiences I've had ever. Event: I brought a 6 month old phone with a cracked screen for them to repair; they promised multiple times that it was an original screen. In my rush to get it fixed, I did not verify. What I received afterwards was a screen with strong yellow tinge and streaks, with major heating issues and a battery that no longer worked - it discharges very fast and cannot last more than half an hour. The fingerprint unlock function also disappeared - not disabled, but disappeared. I went back to them, of course. I even went to BestBuy to compare it with the new phones on display to make sure I wasn't crazy. While I was liaising with Angel this whole time, who is always friendly, I was received by a man who they called the technician. He was rude, aggressive, and utterly dismissive; when I told him about the issue, he interrupted and told me that I had to get it verified that there was an issue. Then he asked me to take it up with the manufacturer, and say that they will refund only if the manufacturer refunds them (???). He refused to contact them for me, and told me that I can go to court if I wanted to. He completed denied responsibility. I was infinitely perplexed by this interaction, especially by the way the employee was trying to intimidate me. The story progresses over the next few days when the manufacturer denied that anything was wrong and a Google-authorized repair shop confirmed my findings. They offered to refund $60 of the $330 I paid for a service that was not rendered and a broken phone. When asked further about the authenticity of the screen, Angel denied that she ever said the screen was an original, even though I had screen shots of her words (she said it multiple times). Angel asked me to not contact her anymore and said they are only willing to settle this in court. It was an ugly incident. I have since paid another $500+ to have the screen replaced by an official repair shop AND the damaged battery, so I can actually just have a functioning phone. I have not received a refund to date. It was truly my mistake to have trusted them. They didn't even charge that much cheaper than the Google-authorized store - BEWARE!

Parking is a bit limited in this section of the mall, but there are plenty of spots elsewhere. I was actually recommended here because they do custom hydrogel screen protectors. Personally I never liked the conventional plastic (scratch too easily and accumulate dirt underneath) or tempered glass (chips easily, then cracks spread like crazy) protectors, so this place offered a nice 3rd option. Yes it's not cheap, but the material is very good. Service is nice and quick. The guy just asks for the device model, and has all the templates readily available. He feeds a sheet in, and the machine does all the cutting magic. Worth mentioning is the fact that he actually had 2 options for my screen (one is slightly larger than the other, depending how much bezel one wants to cover). There was even an option to cut a hole for the front facing camera. Fit and finish are excellent. Application was perfectly centred and flawless. This guy knows what he's doing. My only regret is not coming here earlier and wasting money on glass screen protectors that didn't last. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Recommended.
