I cannot say enough positive things about William. He is extremely knowledgeable and can tell you more about rats and any type of insect their habits. We have used his pest control service for many years now and I continue to be impressed every single time with his willingness to fit a service call in, even very late notice. We apparently have a "rat's paradise" of a backyard (fruit, pool, etc.) he says so we attract them every couple years it seems. He takes care of the issue immediately. We used Apple Tree Pest Service for a while at our old house. The first bag sign is as my husband was signing us up, I asked to see the MSDSs/SDSs and the owner acted like my concerns about what chemicals he would be applying to oue yard was unreasonable and that I should take his word that they were "safe" but he did provide them for my review. And that gets to the crux of the issue I have with the owner - he was always dismissive of me and wanted to do business with the man of the house, but this is so not okay this day in age. (I can't wait for his response to this post, looking through his past responses, and he always responds, he is always defensive... and its not his fault...not ever! You can learn a lot about how a business owner responds to yelp reviews and this guy is no exception, take a peak before deciding to do business with him.) I signed up for quarterly (4x per year) service with William at ATPC on 6/9/2020, after being referred to him by friends. I have been a client, always paying in full and on time, for over 2 years. Today, William arrived (at my request) to perform a retreat of my property in addition to the multiple re-treats he has had to do since my normal quarterly spray that was conducted on 6/1/22. We had been experiencing overwhelming ant infestations both inside and outside of our home for months. Every time I contact William for a re-treat I always describe where it is I am seeing or experiencing the ants, and have also offered to physically show him (at which time I was cut short and interrupted by him with the response that he needs to get going, as he has other houses on his route to tend to). His "bedside manner" during conversations with me, both in person and over the phone, have never been overly friendly but, I've tried to overlook that in these past two years knowing I didn't contract with him for his personality but rather for his pest services. Today, when he arrived and began his normal spraying, I approached him from the side door and explained that I had additionally observed an ant trail along the wall of our home in our courtyard. He acknowledged me in his normal manner (with little-to-no conversation and through sunglasses) as I also tried to make small-talk as a means of saying hello and being friendly. Within an hour after he left, I observed a substantial trail of ants around our outdoor fireplace and at our fencing where our garbage cans reside in our backyard. I then found a sealed letter on our front door basically stating that "it has been determined that we will not be able to achieve satisfactory pest control at your property" and that my service with them has been cancelled as of TODAY! The notice included a $50 check for reimbursement of the portion of my quarterly agreement I had already paid for and yet had still to receive. I was taken aback at the contents of this letter mainly because I had spoke to William directly over the phone two days ago when I reported to him for the second time this week (the first time he did NOT return my call and said he didn't get my voicemail...I should mention this is not the first time he has made this claim in the last couple of months either) that we were having continuous ant issues since his quarterly treatment at which time he did not mention anything about no longer wishing to service the property, nor did he mention anything to me this morning directly when we spoke face to face after his arrival to our home. I called him immediately to inquire why I was receiving this notice and also why he didn't address this with me this morning, directly, when he was here. His response was basically that the notice was self explanatory, that he is losing money having to repeatedly retreat our house, and that most times when he arrives he sees little to no ant activity. He was matter of fact and somewhat rude in his answers. All I can say is this man needs a better set of eyeglasses, because there were steady streams of ants in multiple places in my yard just an hour after he left today. I don't think he is making an honest effort to look, perhaps in order to cut his "visit short so he can get to the other people on his route" today? It is interesting to me that my service contract requires I give ATPC a 30 day written notice to cancel, yet ATPC can cancel servicing my property without any written prior warning. I also find it interesting that item #3 of my service contract states "the customer has the right to request RE-SERVICE AT ANY TIME, provided at least 10 days have passed since last treatment", when clearly this is NOT THE CASE, because IF YOU DO, he loses money and will cancel your contract. I wish to also add that as I was discussing the nature of his notice left on my door this morning concerning them no longer wishing to service our property...*HE *HUNG *UP *ON *ME!!!!!! YES, you read that correctly. He hung up the phone while I was mid-sentence!!!! HOW UNPROFESSIONAL I FIND THIS!!!! WHAT GOOD BUSINESS WOULD ALLOW THAT???? Ultimately, this made me realize it WAS best that we part ways and I am grateful for him quitting on his contract with us...because this is not the proper way to treat customers or just people in general. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you have a serious pest problem and want professional service...you WON'T get it here!!!!!!!!!!!! This owner could have taken a true interest in his business and his reputation by taking the time to walk our property with me if he didn't see the infestations for himself and recognize where the issues were. Instead, he blamed it on the heavily infested surrounding properties as to why he could not properly eradicate the property of pests. I blame it on his negative attitude. When you truly care about your business it shows--that's clearly not the case here. read more

After a year of attempting DIY methods for our inside ant infections, we got fed up and researched a local pest control partner. After several calls, we were so happy to find William! So summer here in the Tri Valley has arrived. Searing heat. Maybe not quite Vegas or Phoenix, but pretty dang hot by my standards. I try to spend a much time in the air conditioned confines of my home. And you know what? It seems as these ants have the same idea. It was a coincidence that a Terminix rep stopped by the house. But i felt pressured and didnt care about their sales tactics. The next day, its like the ants were mocking me. They came in droves. Eating the tuna juice that i forgot to clean up. There were more ants in my home than at a WNBA game. After noticing an AppleTree truck outside my neighbor's home the other week, I turned to trusty Yelp for reviews of the place, and turns out it was pretty good. I give William a call, and he seemed very knowledgable and offered a $90 per quarter maintenance package. Terminix was $99 per quarter, but had such horrible reviews in my area. What's great about AppleTree is William is the owner/operator, so he really takes pride in his work. If he didn't, then there goes his customers. Give this guy a call, my neighbor already did, and so will my other neighbors. Once, the ants from my place figure out they can't get in. read more

We have been using Apple Tree since the beginning of the year and we have been completely satisfied with the service and customer service. The owner is very easy to work with and very accommodating to housewives (like me) who are terrified of black widows, earwigs, aphids and other undesirable bugs outdoors or indoors. They come every 3 months but if you see bugs before then, the owner is happy to come back and exterminate them - FREE of charge. Our backyard backs to a vineyard so you can imagine the amount of bugs that are coming to our property. Apple Tree service price is very reasonable and if I may, probably the cheapest available. After using William in the past and having a good experience I decided to call on him again. I found a dropping in my living room. I called him for help. He told me to text him a photo of the dropping I found. I did. He text me back the next day saying he got the picture 4 times ( on accident, my iPhone kept giving me a message failed warning) and it was definitely a rat dropping. Ok great. We know the problem. I texted him back " ok, now what do we do " and here it has been four days and no response. I got the impression he doesn't want my repeat business by him brushing me off. Not great business ethic if you ask me. I ended up calling a competitor in the area. The technician showed up at my house, on time, the very next day. That is what I call service. read more

Just had the unfortunate pleasure of having them over to help me out. From the voicemail left, to the home visit, completely rude and dismissive. He constantly said "I can't treat something that doesn't exist." He told us to go to another company several times. Very disappointing and I'm starting to believe the other reviews. I'm sure they will reply with an attempt to minimize our review, but bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. You just can't treat people like this in this day of age with online reviews. It's a shame to see unhappy posts, so I wanted to share our experience. We've been contracted with Apple Tree for almost 3 years and have always been happy. He's knowledgeable, in our experience dependable, and has gone the extra mile- at no cost- when we needed additional services (such as a problem in our garage). He offers reasonable pricing (much less than his competitors) and doesn't aggressively try to up sell us into monthly service (as we experienced with other local companies). The only thing I would change is his reminder system. The postcards only have 90% accuracy of reaching you, and a text or email would be much more efficient (not to mention less expensive on his end). He is a little old school in that way, but for the price- I don't think you can beat his service in the Livermore city limits. read more

We've been using Apple Tree for about 4 years in East Dublin with quarterly treatments around our home perimeter. I foolishly thought we could manage any ant/spider issues ourselves when we moved to the area. We learned that eventually the critters will infiltrate your house and do so quickly and aggressively! I am soooo impressed with William and Apple Tree Pest Control. So wonderful in ALL areas! Of course I found Apple Tree through Yelp. As usual, you yelpers steered me right! So, I heard loud scratching noises in the vent above my bathroom downstairs a few days ago. Boy did I freak out...I knew it wasn't a mouse (too loud) and I was a mess! Quite literally, could not sleep for 3 days I was sooo distraught with even a thought a a creepy crawler in beautifull lil' home. Figured I'd best handle it quickly (and get out of denial!) and call around to deal with it. I called a few local pest control places but the minute I talked with William I just knew he was the one to handle the matter. He was very punctual, polite, knowledgeable, kind and super thoughtful about how he approached the situation -- he was so kind to my mom and son too, kindly repeating to them what he had explained to me earlier. He determined I had a roof rat that had sneaked in through an upstairs tile and was nesting in between floors. He thought it might just be one trying to nest. He also kindly took time to look around my home and explain how I can stop rodents from entering my garage, too, on my own. William took care of business, laid the trap + bait, and predicted we would catch it quickly. He was right! It was caught the same night! When notified, William came right out and scooped up the dead critter and left more bait - just in case. He will be back next week (or sooner if I call) and kindly offered to patch the point of entry for me. His expertise and honesty and knowledge of rodent behavior was amazing and so right on! 2 nights ago I found beetles and spiders in my garage at night. I called late yesterday afternoon to ask for pest control service. He came out first thing today and it was a great experience. His speedy service, years of experience and knowledge is the main reason I will use him over and over. Honestly the best part was he took the time to explain my pests to me and did not pressure me into a contact. All pest company's put so much pressure on their customers to sign a contract for continuous service and I don't rally appreciate that. The no pressure made this a quick resolution to my problems. Can't get better than William for pest control; he is thorough, beyond knowledgable, always on time, and his pricing is as good as it gets. Our initial call to him was regarding a rodent problem, but we also just had him out to spray for spiders as I saw a few black widows in our back yard and garage area. He's a bit 'old school', which is exactly the reason why I like him and want to give him our business. I would never go with a company who agressively solicits mid afternoon at my doorstep. I have a rental in Livermore and was told there were signs of termites in a side shed next to the house and possibly in the house, so going on line looking for a company to address the problem I saw that apple tree pest control had good reviews and gave him a call and he responded back in a half hour, after explaining the problem he said I would need to contact a termite company not knowing there was a difference between pest control and termite control. Then asking him if there was anyone he would recommend he spent the next 10 to 15 minutes to explain what to ask and look for in picking a good company to do the work, in a world were time is money I found it very courteous that he took the time to explain in great detail the best steps to follow. I am very glad he was the first company I called giving me a wealth of knowledge and appreciate the time he took in explaining it all to me without anything for his benefit. My comments are limited to Apple Tree's business ethics and customer service. I walked out my front door today to find that the owner of Apple Tree was filling his 100 gallon plus tank on his truck using my garden hose. When I asked why he would do that his response was that he's been doing that for 42 years. He then offered to credit me $0.30 cents because he claims that's all the water he was using. It's not the cost of the water its more about the principle. Why would you show up to a customer's house and use his water to fill your tank? Why wouldn't you show up prepared to do the job? He never asked to use the hose or the water just assumed it would be OK. I would have preferred if he would have asked. It's a good business if you can go around and fill you tanks with water and not pay for it. Apple Tree's response to my post is a lie. I am the person who contracted with the service, I confronted him about using our water and he never had permission to use it. He responds to the post with a complete lie. read more

So far so good. Same day service, gave me a good thorough walk around of all the spots where a rodent could enter my home (and we found the likely spot). I didn't feel pushed to go with his services, that being said I opted to go for the trapping, and then after a few weeks knowing I'm all clear I'll seal up the holes. We had argentine ant infestation in our bathroom around Thanksgiving and decided to call Apple Tree when the OTC pesticide and bail proofed failed after a week of use. He responded within a day of my call, and was able to come out the very next day. He even asked me to sent a few pictures for the ants so he can take a look it them. On the day of visit, after seeing we have a tiny house he recommended us to do our own outdoor spray (he was being honest and try not to ripe us off I believe). He did not enter into our house to look at the issue, but I showed him an example of the ant sample on a piece of tape, since he said he would only do the exterior first, and if it doesn't work he would come back and do the inside treatment. With a small kid and my husband's leg being injured, we asked him to perform the outdoor spray, and we wanted to observe the result and his customer service/reliability before committing the quarterly program (make sure we are paying the service that works effectively). He told us to leave the bait there and we followed his advice. After a week, the outdoor spray in combination to the indoor bait, a nest is down; At day 9 (this morning) another new group of ants start coming out from the hole of our bathtub, and this morning I already seeing ant in our kitchen. Out of frustration, I called and left him a message, but haven't heard back from him yet. I don't want to bombard him but due to our one-time service is warrantied for 1 month, we really hope things work out as we really would like to support local business. Will update the post once hearing back from him. He called back on day 9 (same day mentioned above), came out for a respray on the same day, and told me to continue to bait as the ant activity I've continued seeing are nests within the house. It appear that the outdoor spraying did not really help, likely there are colonies already built inside the property, as we have had 2 major kitchen invasion (into our goodies of our cabinet on one occasion!) and some scouter ants appearing here and there in the random area of kitchen, the problematic bathroom, and a single incident in my child's bathroom (forbidden!). Out of frustration (and exhaustion) my husband left the bait out at different locations and purchase some expensive spray particularly for the argentine ant and spot treated the suspicious areas. It has already been a month, and I still see ants here and there, some live and some dead. Two days ago, I've seen a queen ant scouting around and a couple ants trying to come out from a tiny hole in the master bathroom again. According to the web info, this is either the ant colony is under huge stress and trying to relocate (colony collapsing?) or the colony has expanded and the queen is trying to find a new place to expand (pessimistically realistic?). My hubby suggest the latter so that we are mentally prepared. Overall, he seems to be a nice guy and most importantly he kept his warranty promise; but it appears that our argentine ant issue is more challenging than an outdoor spraying. We've had and we have been keeping a VERY clean house, and already running out of options on these argentine ants. With only a few more days toward the end of the warranty period, we will continue monitoring and hope for the best. read more

I have to apologize for my delayed review. I have to say this is one of the best experiences with a pest control company I've had. I had a swarm of ants in my kitchen about a week before Thanksgiving. I tried ant baits but they kept coming. I finally broke down and called Apple Tree Pest Control and Bill was able to come out promptly! He left me some baits after spraying the exterior and warned me, "leave the baits and let the ants feast and leave them alone". He warned me it wouldn't be easy but that they would take it back to the colony and they would be all gone in a few days. Darn if he wasn't right! I must say I cannot attest to the quality of Apple Tree's services since I have not hired them, but I can speak to the quality of the owner William's character for the free consultation he has given me (which by extension likely speaks volumes about the level of service). I called and left a message inquiring about termite control, and William called me back even though he does not do termite inspections. Yet he did take nearly 15 minutes on the phone to enlighten me about the nature of subterranean termites, how to shop for termite services and most helpfully, how to potentially remedy the problem myself with termite-baiting systems that can be bought at Lowe's or Home Depot for about $80. Most amazingly (having done termite work himself in the past), he suggested I send him the official inspection reports from the companies that give me estimates and he would be glad to look them over "to turn them into layman's language" for me. I am a veteran financial journalist schooled in good and crooked business practices,and from this I can't help but think that Apple Tree is a most honest and ethical company. read more

He showed up when he said he would, walked me through what he would do and described why the ants do what they do. He pointed out an exterior duct/vent that had been pulled back and said it was likely a racoon, possum, etc. was making their home beneath our house.
