They also sprayed ant treatment around the house. There were ants on the trees, so he applied ant treatment to the trees. My technician was Jordan J and he completed my home's first ever pest control treatment. I never had pest control done for my home before, and Jordan explained in detail what services will be rendered and how he will render them. Since it was my home's first treatment, I asked to follow Jordan from a safe distance and asked many questions throughout the service. He took his time to answer all my questions and pointed out a few things about my home. I also have a relatively large garden, and he was careful and attentive about the products being used even though they are safe for gardens. I live by the hills and I get many roaches and ants, but after the first day of treatment, I have already seen a massive reduction in activity. The company provides anytime follow ups for no additional charge if the treatment isn't effective, but the general schedule is treatment every 2 months. A full list of used products is provided with your service. Pest control in general is not cheap, but I highly recommend HomeShield if you are considering pest control services. They will do their best to honour their scheduled time window, but services in the area have been in high demand, so the window they provide for you may be wide. Overall, the company shows up, but doesn't really solve problems. I won't be returning. I've been a customer of HomeShield Pest Control for about three years, and unfortunately my overall experience has been disappointing. To be fair, the technicians generally arrived on time and did come out when I called about issues. The problem, however, is that the service always felt transactional rather than solution-oriented. The call center and field staff seemed to follow a checklist, but not truly understand or care about whether the pest problem was actually resolved. Last year I had a persistent pest issue and contacted them multiple times. Although visits were scheduled, no one followed up to confirm whether the problem was fixed -- and it wasn't. I ultimately had to figure out the solution myself while still paying a $170 service charge of quarterly payments. There are also strict limitations on what they will or won't treat, which makes the service feel expensive for the value provided. Customer support appears heavily focused on billing rather than outcomes. I never felt like anyone owned my case or tried to make sure the pests were actually gone -- just that a visit happened. My experience with HomeShield has been excellent so far. We hired them for an initial extermination and ongoing quarterly maintenance. Jonathan P., our technician, was incredibly knowledgeable and patient during the first appointment--he took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly. Living next to a large field, we deal with a lot of bugs. Jonathan suggested a follow-up visit with stronger outdoor pesticides, which I wouldn't have thought to request on my own. He also left glue traps and ant traps for me to place around the house, which was very helpful. At the follow-up appointment, he thoroughly treated all the outdoor areas with the stronger pesticide. Since the first visit, we've noticed a lot of dead bugs--gross to clean up, but a clear sign that the treatment is working. Kind of pricey but with so many feral cats my garden was infested with fleas during summer. I don't like using poison except as a last resort. I was carrying them inside the house on my clothes.
