This review is about the customer service and the evil scheme that the Owners/Manager/ possibly Apple HQ employ on pitiful and patient customers of Apple. Was at this particular store on Nov 10 2012 waited in line for an iphone5 upgrade for my family. Ridicules wait time of 2 useful hours, which I could have used to actually install a transfer switch and generator at my home due to future hurricane power outages, but family insisted on me to upgrade 3 of our lines to the new iphone5. I understand the iphone5 is a highly in demand, but my critique today is about how inefficient and preposterous excuses the employee in the Apple store can make up to either cover their rear, etc. I am in the customer service field for 9 years, and I know what I am talking about in customer service, since I manage the whole International Customer Service Department, and was awarded with superb reviews from customers and sales associates. The frustration came about via the phone calls I have made to this local store, and some other local neighboring Apple stores. The Apple customer service staff over the phone were either rude or answered in a sarcastic manner, it seems that they have been frustrated of dealing with the customers online or within the store, and were venting out on anybody on the phone.
Now back to the store, here my family, and my 5 year old son was standing in line, and there is one particular store associate, which I think is the oldest lady in the store. She had wavy grey hair; I was struggling to get her name, but failed since Apple name tags are intentionally kept small. This particular sales woman kept on coming out and her actions seems to portray like the people in line were second class citizens. Two hours in line, this lady comes out and signals to everybody that they have ran out of the iphone5. Now, I may be frustrated for not getting the phones, and disappointing my family members, but the biggest frustration is when I realized that this Apple store was actually trying to make use of the people in line as marketing probes, not sure where did this evil scheme originated from; either it is coming straight from Apple HQ or the owner of this store. The line is a short line, approx. 15~20 patient patrons, and if their instructions were that everybody that wants an iphone5 needs to be in line, then with simple arithmetic you can figure out whether you have enough iphones5 in the store. Bestbuy and other big name stores have a ticketing system for hot items say during Black Friday, and the first come first serve policy works great . What is the point of showing off how high tech an Apple store is by integrating the credit card payment systems on the iphone, and with the current POS system in place, would also be able to tell you how many iphone5 you have in that store. So if every patrons were allowed 2 iphone5, then if 15 people in line, it simple meant 30 iphone5 at a minimum are required.
I confronted the wavy grey hair lady and she started to startle, and eventually came up with the same stupid standard response that any Apple associate would say, "You can order the iphone5 online, and if the iphone5 comes into the store, you can pick it up". If that is the case again, why allow all these pitiful souls to stand in line for 2 hours or more, especially on day light saving time, the days are getting shorter. The above incidents definitely tells anybody with basic common sense that this Apple store was indeed using these pitiful customer as marketing probes. Have been an iphone fan for 3 years, how much do I have to be frustrated or pushed before I jumped to an Android phone or a Windows 8 phone, which I do not have to be part of this marketing scheme? read more
