Ordered online, only for them to call me right before pickup time and tell me something wasn't available. I asked for it to be removed from the order, they said ok. Date night on a budget? The 2 for something meals are a decent way to go. If you have a bigger budget, you really need to try the skillet meals. Tonight we were on the budget menu and the food was good but just...blah. Waitstaff was friendly and efficient. We sat in the bar area so we can see all the TVs. Had a great experience! Avery, the hostess was really sweet. She let us know there was only one waitress and then set us down promptly. Tammie, our waitress was exceptional! We called the restaurant as we were leaving a baseball game twenty minutes away. We asked to be added to the waitlist. The lady on the phone was so nice and reassured me that we were on the list and wouldn't have a wait. My husband and I stopped in for a quick meal. Took a while to get waited on and when placing my order for grilled chicken Caesar salad I asked for some extra dressing on the side. 'Ok, no problem' My husband ordered a drink from the bar. Our meals were delivered by someone other than our waitress (I think it was the manager) and i again asked for a side of dressing. 'Sure, no problem ' I wait again and ask our waitress for the side of dressing and my husband asks for his drink. Came here with 5-6 others in my extended family. It was very nice, & we even upgraded to a bigger table when more people came (we weren't all arriving at the same time). They do have some kid-friendly options on a colorable kids menu. There may not be a lot of vegetarian choices, but I just ordered a pasta dish without the chicken. It was really good! Only our second visit to this location. Food was really poor. I had grilled chicken, flat, poorly seasoned; green beans---literally looked like they had been rehydrated and reheated---tasted that way too; blop of mashed potatoes----looked really funny and had virtually no taste. The "bacon" that was visible in the potatoes had no flavor. Really disappointed as this is a convenient location for us. Won't be going back. We eat at this Applebee's when we take my parents out to dinner. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. Generally speaking I never eat at 'chain' restaurants because they all seem the same, but the main reason is that I like to support family owned businesses. We had to ask for plates when the fajitas we ordered finally came out after waiting over a hr on food. Ordered a brownie bite and they served it frozen. Today 2 friends and I visited the Applebee's to have a little reunion and have a few drinks. We got the bill and realized the bartender, Heather S., had charged us for top shelf drinks. Heather never asked if we wanted house or top shelf, but felt she had the opportunity to up-charge us. We spoke to the manager, Josh Cooke, who stated there was nothing he could do about besides make this a "training moment". After realizing the cost difference between house and top shelf, which was $5 EACH, we asked to speak to the manager again. Placed an order to go. Soup & appetizer, 1/2 hour wait. Back to hotel I booked for my parents, with no plastic ware, crackers or napkins. Pretty sad for a to go order to be so poorly prepared. First of all I've been coming to Athens for over 12 years and this place is the only place to really eat. I took a business associate of mine in for dinner tonight after being there just 2 days ago and spending over $150 with no problems. We walked in the front door talked to a half a dozen ppl in the restaurant that knew my associate and then we took a seat. We sat for about 3 minutes before we were approached by what seemed to be a dressed up billy goat that "told" my associate "we" had to leave in a very disrespectful tone. I interjected and told him this was my dinner guest and that he was here under my pretense. The guy looked at me and told me I did not matter and that I wasn't welcome there either!!! Now I have know clue who this random 12" beard goat thinks he is. But I run a very lucrative company that operates all over the country and I have never been met with a more disrespectful attitude from any restaurant much less a reputable, national chain. So I'm not sure what the GM Clint Kitchens is promoting with the people that he is hiring at this location but it seems to be running amuck. I call for an audit of this particular location by their cooperate franchise because this is not being run to the regulations outlined in there agreement. I would warrant anyone thinking of going to grab a bite to eat to steer clear of this place bc of the type of people that are hired to work at this establish, the people that work here are not indicative of the population that lives and works around Athens. From this point on my company nor I will set foot in another Applebee's location again and I will also do my best to spread the word of this experience to every cooperate company representative that we contract to weekly that this is not a place that cares about your business. read more

So I said I can't eat this, ordered something else and the second thing I ordered tasted like those nasty diet frozen TV dinners I used to eat. We've been going to Applebee's for years in both Cali and Texas. Always great service fast friendly and courteous. Food is always hot and served in a timely manner.
