I just had oral surgery, which I explained when I placed the order for my chicken tortilla soup. I cannot chew. I asked for no chicken , no tortilla strips. Avocado and cheese on the side. What did I get, chicken in my soup along with no avocado and no cheese. My daughter split the chicken fried chicken and had more than enough to eat . We had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and queso Blanco with Piccadillo. It was good. I had a house salad and it was not bland. It had tomatoes and cucumbers and cheese and candidied pecans. We were very happy with everything. I was flying home to LAX from Newark and since I have a good friend who lives in Dallas, I booked a flight that gave me a 5 hour layover at DFW so I could have dinner with said friend. DFW is massive. My friend was 30 mins late, but I wasn't trippin. I used that time to charge my phone and get a little work done. We didn't have a resy, but were seated right away. First of all, this place is massive. We both started with the espresso martini before realizing they had a happy hour menu. Our second drink was from the hh menu even though we had no business having a second cocktail. To start, we shared the fried green tomatoes. For whatever reason, we both ended up getting the western burger. Food was great. There was so much of it that I was only able to finish half and ended up taking the rest home. Great service as well. While in town for work, I came in with a reservation for 3 on a weekday night and this place was PACKED. We had to line up just to get our reserved table on a weekday night. Clearly a popular spot. We shared an appetizer, a steak, sides, and a dessert between us 3. - Fried Tomatoes (appetizer): not bad! Light, not greasy at all, and that savory sauce on top was yummy: - Wagyu Tomahawk: the star of the show. Loved the peppered crust which was full of flavor. Not a true "Japanese wagyu" texture, but still an excellent steak overall. - Sides (mashed potatoes, fries, broccolini, cornbread): All pretty good across the board. I liked the cornbread the most and wished there was more of it. Usually a side of cornbread is much more substantial and comes with honey butter. - Steak sauce: we ask for a side of this. Whatever they had was unique and great. Fruity and tangy, a great complement to the tomahawk. - Pecan Pie: look at the photo! A huge, tall slice. No notes. Loved the dense ice cream on top. We ordered the Cowboy Feast. It came with a 33 oz Wagyu Tomahawk Ribeye, an 8 oz garlic stuffed filet, a 12 oz New York strip, and mesquite grilled Gulf shrimp. For sides, I chose the mac and cheese, cornbread, tallow fries, and Brussels sprouts. This is the kind of meal you remember for a while. The Wagyu tomahawk ribeye was the star of the table. Tender, flavorful, and packed with that rich beefy taste you'd expect from a steak of that caliber. The garlic stuffed filet was incredibly tender and added another layer of flavor, while the New York strip had a great texture and a perfect mesquite grilled finish. The Gulf shrimp were cooked well and added a nice contrast to all the steak. Smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides were excellent across the board. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, the cornbread was warm and comforting, the tallow fries were crispy and addictive, and the Brussels sprouts provided a nice balance to the feast. The restaurant itself has a true Texas atmosphere with a rustic upscale feel. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel special. This wasn't just dinner. Staying close to fly out of DFW super early and wanted some thing good. Settled on this spot because the reviews were good. We arrived and there was a 30 minute wait. They got us in a little quicker but still a solid 20 minutes wait. The server was attentive and kept the glasses filled, our app of fried green tomatoes came out pretty fast too. She had the Cobb salad and I had chicken fried chicken for entrees. She said her salad was pretty good, nothing over the top. My chicken fried chicken was just okay. I've been in the Dallas area for the past week and I'm giving up beef when I get back home. We came here on a Thursday evening and I ordered the prime rib with fries and asparagus. Food was amazing!!! I washed that down with two old fashioned. Drinks were good!! The service was great, our waiter continuously check on us without being overbearing and kept our drinks flowing. I am definitely updating my review after our positive experience last Sunday (6/28/26) Our initial greeting from the hostesses was lackluster, at best. Three females, all in their early twenties, all acting as if they don't want to be there. Same as my last experience. Then, a lovely woman showed us to our table. If I am not mistaken, she used to work at Fish City Grill before they closed. She was so welcoming and sweet! Our server, Kristen (sp?) was STELLAR! Met at front desk by well trained greeters who immediately entered my name and phone number into the cue system. Less than 3 minutes later my name was called by America . She asked our preference in seating and escorted us to the table. She introduced us to our servers Edgar and Sarah. I can't say enough about the care and meticulous service the provided. One of the best teams I have ever had. Chef Jorge Rivera provided us with his outstanding queso and chips . Wow what a start! Walked in for a last minute dinner for 2 without a reservation and they were happy to seat us. We started off with drinks, the Bourbon Smash and the Front Porch Swing. I also wish there had been more grits in the bowl--especially for $19. It was a large bowl but pretty minimal on the actual portion. I originally came for the bread pudding, so it was disappointing that they didn't have any available. Saw an ad for The Cowgirl Dinner so I rounded up 5 of us to have a Girls Night Out. Food was delicious and each of our steaks cooked to the correct temperature. Victoria was one of the best servers I've had: friendly, attentive and our glasses never went dry. Angel was good assisting during busy dinner hour. We sat on The Porch which is my favorite area as it's a bit brighter and just the right atmosphere for GNO. And I can't end the review without mentioning the phenomenal dessert platter! We were all full but found room for a few bites each of the deliciousness. My favorites were the decadent chocolate cake and dessert filled empanadas. I would not go back to this place even if they offered a 200$ credit! Not sure what happened to this place over the last 5 years (maybe covid?), but we use to love The Ranch. Burger had absolutely no flavor to the meat, chicken fried steak was a thin slice like you would see in a small diner and bland! corn bread had absolutely no hint of "corn bread flavor". The ribs tasted ok but they were average at best. Very overpriced, average food now. Stood at the bar for 5 min being ignored by the bartender even after we made eye contact several times and he knew I had a question (not busy at all). Instead he continued to talk to the couple in front of him and straight up dismissed my presence. I Finally walked over directly in front of the bar tender and asked for a price menu. They had a great selection but everything was marked up 200% on a pour, and that's 200% on TOP of what most restaurants already mark up. It's a shame.
