Me and my fiance walked in on 7/11 at about 7pm ready to spend some money on dinner. No employees were at the front but there was a female waitress that walked by and looked straight at us, no greeting at all, didn't say, we'll be right with you or anything. She walked straight to the back without acknoleging us what so ever. We waited for a few more minutes and no one came up to seat us, so we decided to leave and spend our money at Josie's where the employees realize that the reason they have a job is because of their customers. I decided to order to go since it was around 11pm and just wasn't in the mood to be out... I placed my order online for the first time and was a little annoyed with the way the online system is set up. It doesn't give you the option to add comments to make modifications on your order. For example you'd like a burger without onions, well there is no choice or space to Make that clear. I didn't realize it until the end and the order was placed . I ordered the 2 for $20 the bourbon street chicken and shrimp and the American all in burger. Appetizer was boneless buffalo wings with ranch. The American all in burger was a disappointment. I added cheddar cheese and bacon for an additional charge when I got the burger all there was in the "ALL IN AMERICAN " burger was a patty cheese and bacon wth happened to lettuce and tomato and pickles ? I received an email stating the order would be done at 11:39 pm I got there about 5 min after that and was made to wait an additional 20 min to be helped. My order was messy and the boneless wings dry the staff was not helpful and they were so unfriendly and didn't seem to care much. I'd definitely understand when a restaurant is super full and everyone is running around but this was not the case there were about 5 tables that weren't really being waited on (food wise ) it was mainly drinks and ppl that were already done and about to leave . The fact that I still waited 20 after the time promised was ridiculous and the fact that I wasn't even offered and apology and had to ask for condiments and utensils mean they plain don't really care. Merced seems to have much better service and it's sad that a new restaurant in town has no sense of customer service... As well as its so inconvenient to allow only ONE person to take care of take out orders and if they are no where to be found or busy u have to wait around on them instead of giving permission to others that are not doing anything. As for placing the orders online that system needs work because after the order was placed I called the restaurant and let them know of the modifications I needed and was given this exact answer " ummm we can't modify the order or change anything for you, if I happen to catch it coming outta of the kitchen I'll try to let them know " when simply there's one solution the kitchen staff gets the order ticket you can go back there and let the cooks know there was a modification prior to them completing the order ... I'm very overall disappointed in the taste and service... And I was really looking forward to this meal but it was definitely not worth $27 read more

So we arrived late; just after 9 on a Saturday night since we had spent the evening at the Nickle arcade... We sat in the designated bar seating and waited about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and get us menus... Our server was more intent on teaching me to use the self serve tablet to order than actually "serving"... We ordered drinks and an appetizer (through the tablet on the table) and just as our food arrived they announced we were gonna play bingo! Okay, my daughter was thrilled!!! We stayed longer than we normally would have because she was Having fun playing bingo... It was fun but there were two groups of guys who kept posturing loudly and rudely across the entire bar... It eventually escalated to one young punk standing and taking steps towards the other group with his hands thrown up like bring it!!! No wonder someone got stabbed here 2 weeks ago!!! Management needs to handle disruptive guests appropriately. Currently they pamper them and laugh it up like nobody is gonna get hurt... The manager even told me they were just playing!!! You would think they'd have learned since one of their patrons was recently STABBED by another patron of their establishment!!! Totally disgusted and I will not go back. Ever. I'd rather drive to Turlock than go to Atwater's new Applebees. Total fail. read more

Rude and unprofessional staff. I have been in this establishment multiple times and it is always the same result. They always seem to be out of EVERYTHING and what food they do have takes an hour or more to receive. This applebees is a dump compared to Turlock and Merced. First time coming to Applebee's In Atwater (birthday invitation), since the beginning they didnt seem excited to have our business. Our waitress Alisa came out and was moping about us because we had 15+people. The host Jeff also seemed bothered about a huge party. Alisa SIGHED the entire time we were there. We ordered at 7:45pm, got our "Cold" wings 1 hour after ordering. Sent them back to get remade and NEVER came back out. 2 hours later, the waitress Alisa still was bothered, sighing, seemed lost, had a bad attitude came out and asked if we needed anything. At this point I'm over it, lost my appetite. We had to ask for refills. My husband spoke to the manager Andrew and told him what happened. The only reason I'm giving a "1 star" is because the manager was nice. Mind you, there was only 15 people max (other then us in the restaurant), this is the worse service I've ever had at a Applebee's. I will never be back to the Atwater location. read more

Hands down, the worst service I have ever had going to an Applebee's! It did start out ok. We were seated right away, it was not even half full in there, and a waiter came to take our drink order. I only asked for water with lemon but was only given plain water, another water had to be sent back because it had something floating in it. Then he took our food order and that's when the problems began. It took approx. 40 min before our food came out. Prior to that we hardly had a glance of our waiter or a manger to ask what was taking so long. Once we finally got our food our waiter was MIA again. Never came to check on us or refill our drink. We even hit the "call server" on the tablet and it never got answered. Food was now done and we were sitting there waiting on dessert that was supposed to come with our 3 course meals. Several minutes passed and still no one came to check on us. My dad finally stopped a waitress and asked for the manager. When the manager came out we told her all of our issues. She seemed to just gloss over them and didn't seem like she genuinely cared about the customers. At that point we were so frustrated we just asked for the dessert and boxes. It was probably another 10 min to get a sliver of a brownie and scoop of ice cream. When he dropped it off he asked if we needed anything else and we just asked for the check. After all that they still had the nerve to charge full price. Didn't even give a discount or knock off one of the meals. read more

The coffee and iced tea was very good -expensive though $2.75 and #3.00 respectively. The onion sour was great always, could be served with some crackers. I had the chicken and maccaroni. The chicken was sparse and white cheese on the mac, not to my liking. The ladies had salads. They had the common complaint nowadays which is that the lettuce should be cut smaller so you could eat it sensibly. Both of them had part of their salads on the table just trying to cut the lettuce up so they could. I rarely order salads in restaurants because of this and the fact that I prefer Iceberg lettuce over what is commonly served. This is a new restaurant servers were driving us crazy asking if we needed anything.Could hardly take bit without some one asking again. The pay-at-table device is defaulting at a 20% tip. Having never received tips in my life I think 15% is enough. They had guest Wifi that was locked unless you asked for the code. Rather irritating since this is a separate stand alone restaurant with no other business close enough to interfere with it. read more

We went to Applebee's in Atwater this evening, and we weren't overly impressed. The food was mediocre, the menu wasn't very good either. The prices were high too. Our server was very good, as were the other server's but other staff had poor attitudes, or complaints concerning the busy amount of customers previously this evening. The shrimp and the steak were overdone. For the money, you can do better. Applebee's survives on being trendy, and they are no bargain. Edible but not outstanding. read more

Got there at 7:30-ish, sunday evening. Was told that there would be a 10-15 min.wait for a table. Not unreasonable as there were several people waiting before us. We were told that there were 2 lg groups waiting ahead of us. No sweat. However... There were only 2 of us and when my boyfriend got back from the restroom, he saw at least 6 2 person tables empty. After saying something, we were promptly seated. We ordered drinks which took a while because apparently the bartender didn't know what a kamikaze was and didn't know how to make one. Then... The shrimp was overcooked on one dish and the Spanish rice had corn kernels. Personal preference... No! Corn doesn't belong in Spanish rice! Ew. After waiting some time with our dishes stacked at the edge of the table, our check was brought to us. No offer of drink refills during the meal, no dessert offer after. It used to be the hostess seating you, a waiter/waitress taking the order, bringing it, taking it away, bringing the check getting a tip... Now, hostess, waitress, bartender, server,someone bringing the check, someone else clearing the table! The big annoying things... Waiting for no reason, over cooked food, no dessert, no refills, teaching the bartender how to make an age-old drink, and the long wait for someone to pick up the check so we could leave. Saving grace and the reason there are 2 stars instead of 1... The meal was comped. Sorry atwater applebees, we won't be dining in again at your location. First off, I would like to say that it is nice when I visit my mother that there is an Applebee's locally to eat at. With that being said, I've been a server before and know what it feels like on both ends as a server and a guest. Yelp is a place for people to come and complain to. Especially for new industries. This generation is full of nothing but people who want FREE anything and will walk into a place with intentions of looking for any reason to get something for free no matter how nice the server can be... And let alone getting everything they want and leaving no tip! I visited Applebee's on Mothers Day with my family for lunch and the place was packed! (Which was expected being that it was Mother's Day). I will say the host probably need some more training only because they seemed lost and unsure what to do to help however, they were all very young so my family and I were understanding. My server was extremely kind, I forgot her name but she was blonde and a few other servers checked on us from time to time as well which was very surprising being how busy it was. Anyway, our appetizers came in good timing and our meals took a little long. As we got our food we overheard the table next to us complain about how we got our food before they did and they were there first and they had 7 people at the table and mine had 3.. They then went on about how they were going to complain, their server was horrible and said "there goes his tip". I honestly felt like turning around and telling that table that we got our food first probably because there was less food ordered and second of all your server doesn't cook the food so that shouldn't reflect their tip and not to mention the cooks have orders coming in for the entire damn restaurant have some damn patience. These people are working and serving YOU on Mothers Day instead of spending time with their family. How rude can you possibly be!!! If you were that hungry and wanted food sooner cook your own food. Half the time, the people hat are always complaining are the people who have probably never worked in a restaurant. I understand if everyone is a place is rude to you, it's obviously uncalled for. But when people are genuinely trying they're best especially when they are overwhelmed and trying to care for not only their actual tables but everyone else's as well snapping their fingers because they need something, I mean really? You're that horrible of a person to now try and get someone in trouble because you wanted YOUR day to be perfect. Now that I'm done ranting about the rude people that eat here, my family and I are grateful that Applebee's is in Atwater providing more jobs for people in a place with such a high unemployment rate and that I've came across nothing but employees trying THEIR BEST. My food has came out cold before and I was given apologies and it was corrected. I've waited long to be seated and I've waited a while for carside orders but I didn't look to get anyone in trouble for it because everyone was always so nice and tried their best to make sure I was happy. read more

My steak came out still bleeding after ordering it well done. our server Morgan was extremely apologetic and took it back to the kitchen to get fixed. A manger (Randy) hand delivered my new steak and apologized making sure it was now correct and making sure everything else was ok. I was still a little upset being as this wasn't the first time this happened but when I got my check I seen that the manager had discounted our check. I was very appreciative that not only the mistake was fixed that the manager went a step further to make sure we were leaving happy! will definitely be back! read more

My wife and finally went into the Atwater Applebees and experienced first hand what all our friends are saying. MANAGEMENT is bad. Their managers needs to take responsibility for cold food, steaks that taste like rubber, running their waiters and then making the customers wait 30 minutes before we can speak to a manager. When we finally got a manager named Tina, she blamed everyone and took no responsibility. WE told her we were waiting 30 minutes to talk so someone, she said there's no excuse for that. We explained we waited 30 minutes for HER and then she had all kinds of excuses. She had attitude and even made a face gestures. My wife is in customer service and told me on the way home that she was certain that the manager only cared about herself. No team work whatsoever. We will drive to Merced next time. read more

Never have i bitten into meat so pink and raw especially when i asked for it well done! Makes me sick! Taylor the manager tried very hard to turn the experience around but was no longer hungry! Five star for waitress and managers! The one star is for the food and cooks in back! If I could have given no stars I would have. We came in as a large group, first thing was the service was slow and staff was not very excited or overly enthusiastic. Yes there's some things that need some fixing but I feel as though they are working out the kinks that it takes to start a new resturant in such a small town. I've lived in atwater my whole life and word gets around quick here. So, ide like to start by saying tonight I was in atwater applebees enjoying a FANTASTIC dinner when a woman who either took food to go or ordered to go came in and I heard her talking to some people I assume she knew. All I heard was something about a steak not being cooked correctly. A young female manager was talking to the woman, mind you she already had the new stake working for her and some sort of discount or something she could use for another day for the inconvenience! I thought it was amazing how taken care of this woman was for a steak that was cooked wrong which happens EVERYWHERE! And this woman still had the nerve to ask for a free margarita. Those are the kind of people writing these reviews on yelp. I've gotta say 5 starts for this manager and the others if they practice this same approach. read more

I came with my two sisters and didn't have a great experience at all. They came and got our drink order and my sisters got their drink before I did. When my waitress came back I asked about my drink and she said oh it's taking awhile because something about the bar being full and having lots of drinks. I didn't get my drink until after I got my food. When I did finally get my food they forgot the other half. I finally got ahold of someone and told them to just forget the drink and if they could take it off. They waitress I had got ahold of, didn't catch and name, but she took the drink off and still brought it to me. She apologize and everything. She made it a bit better. I definitely was not pleased with the service. My little sister order a burger and she asked if she could have additional condiments for her burger such as lettuce, tomatoes etc. they took 15-30 mins to bring it to her. Which her burger was already cold by then. I usually don't write reviews or anything, but I was highly upset. I probably won't be coming back. I went there today with two of my children and I have to say the experience was ok. And I mean just okay. Upon arriving the floors were not kept clean, it's not like there was much of a lunch rush, and the hostess was not in a particularly cheerful mood I expect to encounter at the threshold of a customer driven establishment. We were not even acknowledged till we were ready to be seated, in the neighborhood of ten minutes after our arrival( and I can understand as she was bussing a table prior to seating another party, though there were tables ready to go in other sections). Upon arriving at our table we had two servers for some reason, but we were very well taken care of by Jeanne I believe her name is, the other server we had with blonde hair was also very good, though I don't recall her name. There was a hiccup in getting one of our shakes, but we did order 2 drinks each 2 appetizers, and 4 entrees, so it's not too unreasonable to have a small delay. I have to say we really enjoyed the servers, the food was okay, but my first impression upon entering really had me thinking of walking away initially. As a side note, since I did use the restroom I have to mention that it looked very well maintained, minus the floor, which was sticky for some reason. read more
