We had my dad's birthday dinner at Applebee's and it was such a great experience. Our waitress, Lucky, took amazing care of us she was attentive, friendly, and made the night feel special. The manager was also so kind and welcoming, which we really appreciated. The food was great, the interior is cozy, the prices were reasonable, and the drinks were on point. I have a love hate relationship with Applebees. I have great memories here. The drinks are great and yummy. And it's a really good place for a casual meet up with friends. The service is always excellent and you can tell the servers are hard working. But the food always falls short. It generally lacks flavor and the quality is missing. You definitely get what you pay for here. I wish they would revamp the menu, reduce the number of items, add more great tasting entrees and just charge a bit more for them. Red Robin is a similar chain in the same genre in my opinion and their food is almost always great. Definitely better than Applebees. The dining room doesn't need to be changed and the vibe is decent. But pretty please get better quality food!!!! read more

I tried the trio they are advertised and it was a disappointment. It took way too long to prepare. When it did arrive the so called riblets were globs of mystery meat. 50 percent of what was served was fat, gristle and bone. It didn't look or taste like the Applebees riblets of the past. Everything else was okay but lukewarm. They had held it while they waited on the riblets. My advice is skip the riblets forever. read more

Anna gave us a terrible experience tonight. The place was almost empty, but we still had to wait forever for simple things like drink refills. She almost never came to check on us, seemed irritated the whole time, and was very unfriendly. not big on franchise places, but it was the quick choice. Staff is friendly but only somewhat present. This said, it is at the lull time before dinner rush. They always have specials on drinks and appetizers (half off happy hour) and for football they have a pretty huge appetizer tray on sale; and who doesn't like pretzel sticks and cheese? Also the have shots, Twisted Tea, beer and a "Mucho Bahama Mama" for $5!!!!The setting is always casual and a pretty good price on steaks. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the recent management decisions at the Covington Applebee's. Steven and Ange have been doing an excellent job, especially with Ange stepping in during Ron's absence. In my opinion, keeping Ange as a permanent manager would be a great decision for this location. She is highly involved with both customers and staff, consistently helpful, and creates a positive environment that makes employees want to come to work. Unfortunately, I have not observed the same level of engagement from Jay. From what I've seen, he is far less involved with staff and operations, and the overall atmosphere noticeably declines when he is on duty. Morale, energy, and teamwork seem significantly stronger when Ange is present. I understand the goal of placing strong managers in lower-performing locations, but I believe the better approach would be to elevate Covington from a 3.5-star restaurant into a 5-star one by retaining the managers who are already succeeding here. Keeping strong leadership in place builds consistency, improves staff retention, and ultimately enhances the guest experience. I hope you will seriously consider retaining Ange as a manager at the Covington location. Her presence clearly makes a positive difference for both employees and customers. Applebees was one of those restaurants that was nearby, but I never got around to trying it out. The food: I got an appetizer of mozzarella cheese sticks and a version of a French dip sandwich and an Oreo milkshake. While the milkshake was mediocre, the sandwich and cheese sticks were delicious. The service: The staff was all really nice and helpful. I got my food in roughly 10-20 minutes (can't remember the exact time). Its Applebee's. Food is consistent and typically good. We sat in the bar this time, around 4:30pm, and service was good. They almost deserve 5 stars right now because of the wonton chicken tacos. Unfortunate experience here last night. Short wait for table around 6pm no big deal then got seated with my sister and 9 year old nephew. The waitress was kind and funny at first. Got our little chicken won ton tacos appetizer then waited for a while. Finally got our order waited then food came and she brought wrong order for the 9 year old asked him if it was ok if they just scraped the shrimp sauce off his steak. I wasn't surprised he said no thanks and we asked if they could bring him the correct order. After another wait a different waitress came back with his order. Very odd experience. Then they acted like they were doing us a favor not charging us for the wrong order-they actually were going to bill us for that!? Really poor management at this establishment. Not blaming the waitress but the manager here last night needs to learn some basic customer service. read more

My wife and I were doing chores until dinner time; we had to go out. My wife wanted to try a new place (where we hadn't been). We chose Applebees in Covington because it's been a long time since we were there. So, I used the Applebees App, what a challenge that was! But I got an order in and I used ApplePay to pay. Then we headed out to pick it up. Braving Covington rush-hour, winding around through parking lots, we finally made it. The app sends a text to click "when you arrive." When I clicked, I got a message that said "Order cannot be found." We parked and went inside. The restaurant did have our order and were working on it; so, we waited in our car. Finally, a pleasant young woman came out and we signed a tablet for our order. Later I was relieved that I was charged only once and correctly... So, we got our order home; yes, it was cold. We had ordered a couple items we wouldn't normally order because we were trying them out. The food turned out well as far as takeout orders go. Chicken Wings, Oriental Chicken Salad, Ribs, and Cinnamon Knots. My wife was initially suspicious that the salad was not what she ordered but it was, and apparently, good! I enjoyed the Ribs and the Chicken Wings. We both enjoyed the Cinnamon Knots. Well done! I should explain that we haven't been to Applebees mostly because of it's location; that's why we tried the App; that's the reason for four stars out of five. The food was good, the curbside service was good. The App was a source of confusion, anxiety and mistrust. We use other Apps for other restaurants without a hitch. The exception of the one manager/bartender with glasses, I've had nothing but terrible experiences with this establishment in this particular location. First we're standing there waiting for our order, come to find out it has been ready for 10 minutes and still not given to us. Finally get our order, get all the way to the hotel, not only is food cold but there's zero utensils. We're staying in a hotel, now I had to go back and get utensils. Takes the 15 mote minutes to give me utensils now my food is even more cold. Customer service was terrible except for that one bartender/manager with glasses. Don't ever go to this Applebee's. Unless you want sub par food, overpriced, and probably going to get your order wrong anyways. They're apologies? Scripted. February 19, 2025 9 pm-ish Just got back from skiing and we were hungry ! Sat in the bar area, so the bartender was our server and this wasn't her fault in any way we felt !?!? So we place our order and I felt it might have been 5-10 minutes later, two plates of food come, my buddy order a steak and when the food came, I said the steak goes to him and the other plate would come to me ! Well I was on my phone and went back to my phone, my buddy said to me, does this look like a 12 oz steak, so I look up and he's HOLDING IT WITH HIS HAND, this tiny steak ! I tell him I don't know ? Then he said, didn't you order a CLUB, I looked and it was a pasta dish, I took my fork and stirred it up, yeah its PASTA ! So we called our server and told her, this isn't our food ! So she takes it to the back and a minute later, here comes those two plates over to another table, WTF !!! We said to ourselves, those should have been redone, those plates should have gone into the trash ! I even asked my buddy, did you even wash your hands ? To be honest, I don't remember him going to the bathroom to wash up, I hope he was joking but he's not making my food, so whatever ! We talked about going over to the other table and say something but it was to late, those guys already finished their food, why stir up trouble for anyone, still think APPLEBEE'S did them wrong !!! I will never return to the Covington one I have been going there for years and the staff is really nice and have worked there forvever. The red headed bartender ignored us and my African American husband and served the 2 people next to us. We waited 20 min for no one to help us. When we left no one said a word to us. Not good. Visited on 4/20/24. Starter of boneless chicken wings was very good. Main course was dire. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger with no lettuce and ordered the burger to be well done as I have a delicate stomach. Meal was received. Burger was underdone and pink inside. There was also lettuce inside it. This was pointed out to the waitress who said she would bring it to the Manager's attention. Fries were not very good either and were overdone. After spending most of the day helping my nephew work on his car, both of us had worked up an appetite. Since I was the visitor, and didn't know the area, I asked him where he wanted to enjoy dinner tonight. Since he's a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy, he suggested Applebee's in nearby Covington, Washington, which sounded like a great idea to me, as I'd been thinking about how good a steak dinner would taste... As you walk in the restaurant, there is a friendly greeter who will greet you and seat you. This lighting is on the subdued side - that's an understatement - which doesn't make for good photos. I didn't want to use flash, as that is obtrusive to other people who are trying to enjoy their dinner. I went with the "Create Your Grill Masterpiece," menu selection, albeit on the modest side, with a 6-oz steak, baked potato, along with fire-grilled vegetables. The vegetables and backed potato were cooked perfectly and were "as good as it gets." The steak, which I ordered cooked medium, nearly melted in my mouth, and the knife merely served for decoration. I've always enjoyed a perfectly cooked meal at Applebee's, and the Covington location is no exception to that fine tradition. Bruce enjoyed a 8-oz steak, no potato, but a double order of broccoli. Hey, nephew, whatever floats your boat. In keeping with the core values of the Applebee's chain of restaurants, the Covington, Washington location offers delicious food, friendly service, reasonable prices in a comfortable, family-friendly dining room. There is an old woman that is a manager there. She is unhealthy and rude! I put a review on Google two weeks ago when she was standing at the bar coughing openly. Not even trying to cover her cough. Today she was not on duty yet. But she pushed me out of my chair at the bar while I was watching the game. I asked her if she was a manager, she responded with. "Why, are you going to complain?" I came back again since it was close to where I live in Covington. This visit was much better even though I ordered just a burger and some onion rings. The food was served promptly and the service was pretty good all the way through. If I had only one criticism, it is for the pay terminal at the table. They seldom work right and today was no exception. My waiter had to help me twice enter the card and get a remote receipt. Sometimes, just handing them the card is a better idea. Decided to give Applebee's a try as everything else in the area was closed or of the fast food variety. I ended up ordering the 2 for $2X deal online. I got the boneless wings, whisky bacon burger, and... a salad. Everything was good for the price and portion size as I was able to have dinner and some leftovers for a late(r) night snack. Celery was a bit sad and squishy, but the wings were coated nicely with a flavorful sauce. The burger was cooked a decent medium rare (as ordered), was juicy, and tasted like... BBQ sauce; the onion rings were soggy and quite meh. The oriental chicken salad was fresh, but the chicken was a bit dry as was the breadstick; it did come with two containers of dressing though; yum, rabbit food. =P read more

I got the prime rib sandwich. Do not order. Asked for green beans instead of fries. The green beans tasted like out of can or frozen extremely overcooked. I couldn't eat them. The sandwich..... Okay, this Applebee's seriously needs to step it up. I placed a "Carside To Go" order for one dessert item at 6:35 pm. I left the house immediately and got to the restaurant around 6:55 pm, according to Google maps. When I got to the restaurant, every single "Carside To Go" space was taken (by Door Dash drivers, incidentally - I know this because the hostess said, "Are you guys all waiting for Door Dash orders?" to the three other individuals waiting in the foyer area, and they all nodded.) Anyway, I parked and went inside to grab my food, sure it wouldn't take that long. Well, I was wrong. All of the Door Dash drivers that were seated in the foyer, even one guy who arrived after me, received their much larger orders before I did. I did make my displeasure politely known to the hostess and the manager (?) who seemed to be running around getting the orders together. The hostess tried to explain that maybe my order was placed later than the other orders that were picked up - well, that is possible, but 20-plus minutes to get one dessert item together seems unreasonable to me. It's not a question of staffing - there were plenty of employees visibly doing incidental tasks (as I've noticed the last couple of times I've been there). Needless to say, when I got home and discovered that the one of the main ingredients in my dessert was missing, I was NOT happy. Why call it a "Butter Pecan Blondie" if you're not going to include the maple-butter topping. To add insult to injury, I did receive a menu, a flyer with special offers, and a napkin/silverware packet in the bag with my incomplete dessert item. Get your stuff together, Applebee's. read more

Live close to this Applebees, so super convenient. Food is okay, for the price. The half price appetizers are a good deal for us, gets us out, and love the big screen TV's. The wait staff have favorites, and caters to them and ignores others. It doesn't appear right that there making this decision and making some customers feel like they are not as welcomed as others are. They are losing customers for the restaurant. On Saturday June 25th, my sons father went back to Applebees for a second interview, after having an initial interview with the hiring manager Keelan. After arriving, he discovered Keelan wasn't present, but instead the manager Jay, and Kitchen manager Paulo were present, after a short discussion, both managers asked my Sons Father to do a working interview working on the line. He ended up working for 4 hours. For those of you who are familiar with the restaurant industry, you would know that working interviews are very common, and that they are legally required to be paid. The general procedure for these is that immediately after working, you are paid in cash. Because of the major miscommunication between the managers(Keelan didn't tell them he wasn't supposed to do an working interview) , he was not paid after his working interview. My sons father, ended up deciding not to take the position, due mainly to a handful of miscommunications(he went to two interviews and they never explained his wage, didn't ask for his food handlers permit, literally put him on the line with no training in recipes etc) and didn't return. He has reached out a handful of times, after healing from a dental surgery, attempting to receive pay for the time he worked. After reaching out today, the hiring manager Keelan , claimed that it was "in the past" and because my sons father didn't decide to go with the position(and thus call back) it was "too late." He then proceeded to hang up on him THREE times. My sons father has since reached out to Applebees HR, left a handful of voicemails, has left a few reviews etc. I'm just actually flabbergasted that a franchise company has chosen to go against the law, and not pay a temporary employee. Keelan, the hiring manager has told my sons father if he shows up, to attempt to work this out in person, that he would call the police on him for "harassment." Because they never told him a wage, we can assume that it would just be minimum wage, meaning this insanely successful franchise is avoiding paying someone $57.96. If this is how a company chooses to treat its prospective employees, I would just caution anyone from going to work, or eat there. read more

It's very clean! This business follows all rules in reference to health and safety with Covid. Every single person I've come in contact with has been so awesome, kind, accommodating, and overall amazing. Our server Michael has gone above and beyond in every aspect. He is truly amazing I would come in again and ask specifically for him. Michael is genuine, sincere, and truly hilarious. He doesn't over do it and he makes sure that he does it all. He stays on top of every refill and extra napkin that you'll ever need. I recommend this location 100%! Thank you for the experience, I will definitely be back! We've ordered take out orders here since the start of the pandemic, and the orders are never ready at the time I've selected. Tonight was the worst. And we ordered almost 90 minutes in advance. The first employee couldn't find the order and didn't exactly seem "on it" (got my name wrong twice, even after asking the second time) so I asked a second employee to check. I got the order, again late, and then drove several miles home. That's when we found the desserts were missing. The melting ice cream was there (we thought it was butter in the little containers), but no brownies!!! Hope whoever got our brownies enjoyed them. It was not worth the traffic and gas to drive back to the restaurant. I always tip well (20%, before I even got our meals or know how the service will be), so my tip to Covington Applebee's is this: get it right.
