I'm guessing that's due in part to Maverick, the General Manager, who seems genuinely committed to excellence. We actually came back this week because we realized we'd enjoyed our meal so much during our last visit that we forgot to take photos for our review. Believe it or not, we nearly forgot again! I rarely eat bread, but I always make an exception for the Spent Grain Loaf. Paired with the unbelievably fresh butter and flaky sea salt, it's one of my favorite things on the menu. My husband ordered the Prawn Cocktail. I'm allergic to shrimp, so I couldn't try it myself, but he said it was outstanding. I usually order the Koji Ribeye, but this time my husband claimed it first, so I ventured out and ordered the Alaskan Halibut with hash brown crust, orange vinaigrette, and watercress. It was absolutely delicious. My favorite side remains the Roasted Carrots with Leiper's Fork honey and tarragon--they're incredible. We finished with the Carrot Cake. It's less sweet than the version served at another well-known Franklin restaurant, which I actually prefer. The flavors are more nuanced, and the crunchy shredded carrot on top adds the perfect texture. The food was, as always, exceptional. We were fortunate to have Jeff Paul as our server again. He's knowledgeable, attentive, and strikes that perfect balance of being available without ever being intrusive. That said, we've honestly never had anything but excellent service at 1799. Maverick stopped by our table and was warm, engaging, and genuinely interested in making sure every guest had a memorable experience.
