In a word: Meh. Of the 2,375 places you can get fried chicken in the Nashville-metro/burb area, Waldos is certainly one of them. That's about as much as I can say. Sure the little chicken pieces were good. Not stellar, not memorable, not amazing, but serviceable. The sides were just meh. Again, nothing offensive, but nothing that wow'ed us. The little bread bite things they're known for are SWEET in flavor. I wish we'd have known that, because I am (perhaps in the minority) of folks who detest sweet breads with savory foods. It's very off-putting and reminds me of the one time I went to Jim & Nicks back in college when they had sweet rolls they served before their meal. Not my taste. Overall, it was not a terrible experience, but for the price paid, nothing we'd write home about, and no where we'd go again. read more

There truly isn't a better salad than the chicken scratch salad with honey mustard dressing. It is the closest thing to a bennigan's kilkenny salad that I can ever find. I liked this location of Waldo's because the staff was so friendly, but it does feel more like a fast food restaurant than their location in Germantown. read more

Today we tried Waldo's and they made a great first impression. First of all, the lady behind the counter was friendly, and so I asked for her recommendations. She said her favorite was the fried chicken, but the most popular was probably the chicken tenders, so we got one of each. Now this was not Nashville hot chicken, so it was more of a southern fried chicken. My husband and I shared our meals so we each got to try a variety. After trying both the fried and the tenders, I will say that I liked the fried chicken the best. It had a great crispy skin and it was nice and juicy on the inside. The tenders weren't too large and they weren't seasoned as well as the fried chicken was. I also enjoyed the tomato and cucumber salad (it was a little tangy and very fresh) and the slaw. The fries were good, too, and my husband liked the white beans. I was glad to see they offered some healthy sides, as well as salads, on the menu. I would love to return and give some of these a try. Overall I would recommend Waldo's and I hope to return again soon. read more

THE BEST chicken tenders I've ever had. Perfect in every way. Truly tender. Selection of sauce to boot! Variety of sides?!? The chop chop salad with rotisserie chicken was perfect portion with fresh mixed greens and strong blue cheese! This particular spot is extra great b/c of their staff. Everyone I've encountered here is dang delightful and great customer service. The set up is a blend of fast & casual dining, but the food is true quality. They have a bunch of TVs and a nice bar set up that seems perfect for game watching; and the bar is full service of beer and liquor with great selection. Omg!!!!! I'm so in love with Waldo's! First of all, I'm lucky enough to live in almost walking distance of this one. I came here on a whim after leaving the airport because I didn't feel like cooking and because, again, it's close. The customer service was one on Al as this place closes kind of early so the lady taking my order (now on a first name basis *Veronica*) was patient and kind enough to explain to me the options and asked me what I was i had a taste for since they were about to close and options may have been limited. The chicken sandwich is what I opted for and I chose a side of the Mac and cheese for it. While I was waiting at the window for my order, Veronica informed me that everything was made in house, fresh daily and the coleslaw was more of a sweet, creamy slaw than vinegary, which is what I like. I told her I'd have to try it next time I stopped by. So it was a pleasant surprise when I got home I saw my order was loaded up with extra corn muffins, coleslaw! And she even threw in a cookie (Christie's cookies) in there for me. I could only assume she let me try these things since they were closing and throwing out product they didn't use for the day and since it was my first time visiting. But man oh man was I happy!!! The sandwich was BUSSIN!! (Iykyk) perfect amount of sauce and protein and the wonderful coleslaw complimented it perfectly. It wasn't too saucy, but just creamy enough and the perfect balance of sweetness. The Mac and cheese has just the right amount of seasons and cheese to keep me coming back. The corn muffins are to die for. Their honestly super addictive and I cringe every time I make the excuse to get them despite claiming to watch my carb intake. The chicken tenders were seasoned well, Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy, and the white beans were ok (they weren't grandma's white beans) but they had a good taste. I visited this location on June 21st. It was not very busy, so I expected my food to be really good. I order the exact same thing every time I go. This particular day, my chicken was not cooked thoroughly & my banana pudding was runny (this has NEVER happened before!) I did not bring it to anyone's attention, as everyone was in the kitchen laughing during my visit. Possibly the most underrated fried chicken place in Nashville for their awesome sides, cornbread muffin that comes with the plates, and sauces. I've only been to this Waldo's location, and the cashier seems to be the same woman each time I've gone. She is the sweetest and kindest person, and just a joy to interact with at any point in the day. I always order a dark plate with mac and cheese and fries, but their potato wedges and white beans are also great sides. The plate comes with a sauce, and I love getting the jalapeño ranch, but they have a variety of tasty sauces. The hit of the plate is the little complimentary cornbread muffin; great texture and a tad cheesy in the best way. I love the quirky art on the walls and sitting in the cozy booths! The fowl mouth chicken sandwich captures every essence and tone that a hardy spicy chicken sandwich should. I was in the area for a morning appointment and hungry at lunch and saw a new place to try, Waldo's. Based on my one visit so far, this is a pretty cool addition to the area. I feel it is still fast food, in the sense that you can get drive through and service is very quick, but it feels more upscale than, say, Zaxby's and the like (especially since you can get a quality draft beer). I had the tenders, collard greens, and fries. The tenders were crispy and fresh and the greens were awesome, by far the best at a fast-food style restaurant I've ever had. Most meals come with one side, so I added one of my sides. I later learned, while typing up this review and referencing my receipt, that they did not charge me for the second side (I think the cashier thought I was changing my mind when I stated a second side, e.g. that I wanted fries then changed my mind to greens; which explains why they didn't initially bring me the fries but graciously did when I asked about them, apparently without charge--so I owe another tip or bigger order next time I'm in!). Fries are shoestring and taste like they are fried in peanut oil, not sure if that is the case. Not as crispy as some may prefer, but I dug them. Given that it prompts you for a tip when you check out and initially feels like a "sit-down" restaurant when you dine in, it does feel a tad pricey at checkout but food prices have certainly gone up due to inflation so it's probably consistent with the market area. The ingredients taste fresh and good, so it warrants that. The comeback sauce was okay, I'd probably try a different sauce next time. Service is really friendly. I aim to come back sometime and try the sandwiches, biscuits, and bone-in chicken. read more

I was so excited to see this new Waldo's location open on charlotte pike! We went on their third day open. The inside is cute and clean and service was good. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I ordered a beer, 3 tender meal, and our group shared an order of cheddar biscuits. I didn't realize it was happy hour and beers were 2 for 1 so I ended up with 2 beers. I wish they had posted the happy hour deal so I would have known! My favorite part of the meal was the chicken. The tenders were so good! I got comeback sauce which was also excellent but very small. The fries and biscuits were only okay and the biscuits were smaller than I expected. I've gone to Waldo's twice, and have only ordered through the drive-thru. The first time I ordered the chicken tender plate with the tomato cucumber salad & collard greens. The tenders were fresh and crispy, and the greens had the perfect amount of vinegar (which I like) and tang. The tomato cucumber salad was a bit bland, and I didn't really get much of either (mostly liquid). I recently stopped by to grab a quick lunch - ordered the chicken scratch salad (with fried chicken). I think I may have gotten 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 1/2 slices of cucumber, and I only counted 3 pieces of almond (bacon was non-existent). Lots of cheese (which I don't care for). The chicken was soggy (it was wrapped in foil so it steamed while I was driving home), and it was ridiculously salty - it was inedible so I ended up throwing out the chicken and added some extra veggies that I had in my fridge. Each time my order cost around $20 (extremely high for so-so food). The service on my first visit was exceptional, but not so much on my 2nd visit. I was really wanting to like this place, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. There are a few other restaurants that offer similar options for less, and the food & service are consistently better. I may have visited on an off day for Waldo's, but I don't think I'll be going back. read more

The biscuits are delicious. Best collard greens I've ever had(and I'm picky af about my greens). Plus the customer service of the drive thru was superb. This sandwich is one you will like if you like the heat! The Mac and cheese was also very creamy and tasty. I like that everything is made daily from scratch, so it doesn't make you feel AS bad about eating fried chicken.
