The tenders are definitely spicier because of the larger surface area. 200 degrees was definitely making me sweat already, and I'd like to think I'm ok with spice. I do love the fact that the spice is more of a back-of-the-throat, delayed spicy. It means you don't feel it as much in your tongue and you can really fully taste the spice blend. Alright y'all - I'm bummed. This place will receive my lowest rating for a Hot Chicken experience during my recent Nashville vacation. I really wanted to like this place a bit more because I heard 400 Degrees Hot Chicken as a recommendation from locals at least 5 times the week I was there. We finally made it over for lunch and there are three main reasons for my 2-star rating -- 1) when we arrived, the power was out. Their electrician walked into the restaurant the same time as we did, and while he did fix the issue -- we waited for over an hour for our food. I would have appreciated it more if they just shut the storefront down until the power was up and running before accepting orders, and having patrons waiting around for 60+ minutes for their food. 2) once we received our order, it was the wrong order. As hungry as we were, we didn't even notice the kitchen threw chicken tenders on to our tray until we sat back down at our table. We ordered two orders of chicken wings, and never did we ask for chicken tenders. We weren't rude about bringing it up to their attention as we understood they were under pressure with so many orders on back order. It's just frustrating that we waited for over an hour for our food only to have it come out incorrectly. Mistakes happen and human error is real. I'm not blaming anyone -- I'm simply sharing our experience. 3) finally, the chicken was overly battered. It took so much time to pick through the breading -- that it took away from the experience. And, it was drenched in way too much grease. I can generally handle grease but not when every bite just squeezes out an abundance of oil into your mouth. Yuck. I hope the owner(s) of this location take all this feedback as learning points. I absolutely love supporting small businesses but need to be honest in my critique so that you all could get better to do better. It will only help the restaurant thrive in the future. On a lighter note - the lady running the front of the house during our visit was very pleasant and remained composed the entire time we were there considering the pressure to getting multiple orders out after a power outage. Awful experience... zero customer service!! This place was absolutely terrible. The management and staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was waiting for my flight with my hands full, so I briefly set my drink on one of their empty tables (the restaurant was nearly empty, with plenty of open seating). Immediately, a female employee came over and told me I couldn't be there. I calmly explained that I was just setting my drink down while organizing my things since all the seats near my gate were taken. She continued to rush me to leave, even as I politely asked her to give me a moment and to please call a manager. The manager, Jami Luna G., came over already defensive and dismissive. I asked if I could at least purchase something so I could sit or keep my drink on the table for a minute. He refused and told me to leave without offering any explanation. I have never been treated with such disrespect in any restaurant. I remained calm and professional the entire time, but both employees spoke down to me, refused service, and even mocked me as I was walking away. The experience felt personal and borderline discriminatory. This type of behavior is unacceptable in any establishment, especially in an airport where travelers simply need a moment to organize or rest. I recently visited 400 Degrees Hot Chicken and tried their Nashville hot chicken at the 200 Degrees spicy level. Even though this wasn't the spiciest option, it packed plenty of heat, and I loved it! The spice didn't taste artificial or like capsaicin powder--it came from real peppers and a flavorful spice blend, which made the chicken both spicy and tasty. While the food was great, the service could've been better. Despite ordering online for DoorDash pickup with an estimated 30-minute wait, it took an hour to get my order, and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy at the time. So first and foremost, I came here because this place was listed on a couple of sides I found as having the best hot chicken in Nashville. On that note, the chicken was very good. I got the 200° and it had some good heat to it, but wasn't crazy hot, then again I'm used to pretty spicy food. I ordered the wings and was pleasantly surprised that the four wings were very large and the chicken was crazy crispy. That being said the three star rating is primarily due to the ridiculously long wait time. I came in at about 1130 on Tuesday and there were a handful of people inside. Unfortunately, after ordering it took a full 45 minutes to get my food. There was another person who had ordered in front of me that was waiting as well and eventually he went to the counter to inquire because he had to get back to work. We could hear people from the back telling the lady upfront that she needs to tell people the food is made fresh so in the future, they should order online in advance. I've worked in food service for about 20 years and quite frankly that's a nonsensical response. If that were the case, they should have a sign on the front door, at the counter, or the person behind the counter should tell you about the long cooked times. The best Hot Chicken in North America is at family-owned 400 Degrees. 400 Degrees is just outside of Nashville, in a non-descript parking lot next to an auto supply shop. It is the best hot chicken I have tasted, out of all of the ninety-five places I've been. Once you bite into it, you're not "you" anymore. You become a new being that never existed in the moments before you tried it. It's every superlative I can think of. The breading, which is a meal in itself, is like a rainbow in breading form. Deep flavor (spicy and sweet) that your taste buds never knew existed. Combination of dry rub and wet rub is outstanding and, as at Prince's, it soaks all the way through the bread, forming a new baked good that shouldn't be allowed to exist but it does. The breading is a meal in itself. You almost thought I was going to forget to talk about the chicken: perfect. Moist, flavorful, excellent. Tenders are exactly the right size. The regular hot level is called "200 Degrees." It's the one I got and it was perfect. ("400 Degrees" is extra hot, but I don't think I could have gone any hotter.) Excellent homemade baked beans, with the perfect amount of sweetness. They also offer Nashville Hot Pork Chops and Nashville Hot Shrimp. Next time. A++++++++++++++++ for 400 Degrees. I have been hearing about 400 Degrees for awhile and decided to head there for lunch. 400 Degrees is located on the northern part of Nashville, so it was a bit of a drive and as I pulled in I guess the kindest description would be that its ambiance is nondescript and unassuming. OK, it is nothing fancy, but there is nothing wrong with that. My introduction to hot chicken was at the old Prince's location and that location brought nondescript and unassuming to a new level. The people working here are friendly and warmly welcomed me and took my order. Hot chicken is made to order, so it will take a bit to get to you, but hot chicken is more than worth the wait. I am more than slightly obsessed with this culinary godsend. I must say that I was intrigued by their hot porkchop and hot shrimp, but I wanted to start this on a level playing field and try a hot chicken breast, prepared their hottest. As much as I would love to say that it was life altering (much like when I first stumbled upon Prince's about seventeen years ago), I found this to be rather run of the mill. I have had worse, but I certainly had better. The potato salad i had was pretty good, but again, i ha e had better. I want to start by saying I hope they were just having an off day because I was looking forward to trying this place out. On arriving we drove past it and had to turn around because it's in a small stand alone building. Parking is very limited so we parked next door in a grave area that we saw other cars in. They prompted us that it would be around 30 minutes, which we were completely fine with. Two groups came in after us, one being a couple who ordered the same thing, and another who sat down. Around 30 mins the couple who came in after us got their food, around 8 minutes later the next group got their food. Finally at 45 minutes, we got our food. Now let me tell you I'm not giving this rating because of the fact that two groups got the food before us, it was the fact that unfortunately I had just felt that the food was not worth it. The seasoning on the breading was great, but underneath the breading and the hotness it was bland. I'd recommend ordering the 200 if you like spice because even our noses were running from that. And I really enjoyed the potato salad! Now the chicken. It was cooked perfectly. The outside was crispy, thick, and crusty and the inside was juicy. But it was the spice/seasoning that threw me off. I'm a pescatarian and LOVE spicy food, so I always find it disappointing when a place has hot chicken but no seafood options. Sometimes white fish lacks flavor, but this place absolutely nails it with seasoning and spice. My whiting fish was juicy, fresh, and full of flavor. I highly HIGHLY recommend getting it (don't forget the mustard, onions, and pickles!) when you come here. My boyfriend is the carnivore of this couple. He tried all 4 spice levels of the wings, as well as the pork chop and leg quarter. He was in love with it all! As we waited for our order, we noticed she called a lot of her customers by name; showing she truly loves the community. First visit to the BNA airport location on Sunday. Waited in line 30 minutes. People constantly cutting, yelling at others bc no one at host stand and conflicting directions from each waiter (sit at bar and get takeout, wait outside and get takeout, wait in line for only sit down bar food). It was chaos, multiple verbal fights broke out. Waitstaff was yelling, multiple things were dropped, glass broke, tables dirty. I eventually squeezed in a bar seat after waiting in line. I ordered pickles and bird sandwich. I wish I took a pic bc the sandwich had two mini chicken nuggets covering 15% of the sandwich. I asked if this was normal and if there was any sauce. They said it was battered and normal. I tried one mini nugget and it was dry and tasteless. And it wasn't even spicy! I ate both and the pickles and closed out the tab totaling $30 and was absolutely still famished afterward. When exiting another waitress said to me "Haha, what a shitshow!" I am a business travel, eat airport sometimes several times/wk but this was worst experience in life. read more

Recommended by two locals, a singer/songwriter and a chef so I had to go. We went with the chicken tenders, 200 degrees and 100 degrees split and also the shrimp at 100 degrees. Spice level is spicy on the 100 and then mouth burning for the 200. Chicken was tender and delicious. Ask for the ranch dressing. The shrimp is amazing! 100 degrees was perfect.
