I ordered ahead of time for pick up. The Hostess was friendly and greeted me with a big smile. I let her know I was there for pickup. She went in back to check on my order, I was early so I sat at the bar and waited. I would have enjoyed a drink but the bartender basically ignored me. Applebees is Applebees, they all look the same. The food... Two bacon cheeseburgers for National burger day and then an appetizer trio, onion rings, boneless wings and riblets. First NEVER order the riblets! The chemical plastic taste was disgusting. Went to the trash. Boneless wings were nothing but soggy chicken nuggets, went to the trash. Onion rings were great. Even the burgers had a weird flavor and were over cooked (not pink as ordered). The sauces that came with the trio - Beer cheese was okay. We had a group of nine, but only two of us ordered the all-you-can-eat shrimp, riblets and wings. We were all ready to leave by the time the food finally arrived. It didn't come all at once, and some of the food was cold. The food was so late that many of the group needed to snack, pack it to go and leave. The two of us with the all-you-can-eat had to wait a long time between service and the unlimited fries only came with the first dish. The follow up dishes of meat were smaller. We're going to another restaurant for next week's dinner. We arrived at 5:30 but didn't finish until 8:00. To add insult to injury, the men's room was closed for part of the dinner. read more

The meal was half finished and headed for the trash can. The nachos were mostly, tiny broken pieces, bottom of the bag style! They packed the container of chicken and cheese in the tray, which covered them in sour cream, beware if you are picking them up. Better order double jalapeño, they throw 3 or 4 rings in there. Stopped in during the 9pm appetizer special. Ordered the Chicken Wonton Tacos, very good. "E" gave me the recommendation and they were very good. I also ordered the spinach artichoke dip, it was good. No complaints. The place was nice and clean and the Bartender (Courtney) was great. The bathrooms were very clean and your typical restaurant bathroom. The toilet paper was a little rough and thin. Which to me, means you just use more and it ends up costing the company just as much as if they would've spent the $ on good TP. read more

this is at the front Royal Apple bees there is a waitress named dawn and she is very rude and very slow with her job and always has an attitude and usually does not smell the best so it probably not good for her to be in the kitchen because the way she smells i feel like she dosent have the best personal hygiene. Like most Applebees, this location offers typical comfort food. I like their appetizers, and especially like their wings, and they're a good value if you get them at happy hour. Their entrees are ok, nothing special. Their approach to reopening after the first wave of COVID, unfortunately, is a disorganized mess. They are following social distancing guidelines, which is very good, but getting seated in the first place is an ordeal. With reduced seating capacity, you may have to wait. Tonight we were quoted a 10-15 minute wait. No problem. The hostess took our cell phone number to send an automated notification when our table would be ready, then told us we'd have to wait outside. OK, it's a minor inconvenience at this point, but not a big deal. As we waited in our car just outside the entrance, we watched new arrivals put down their names and wait... inside. As first 10, then 15, and then 20 minutes passed we saw couples that came just after us emerge from their cars and go in to their waiting tables. I went inside and asked the hostess where we stood on our wait. After a few awkward moments she stated that she knew we were waiting and that a table would be ready "soon," but with no details. When I mentioned that others had gone before us she had no response. We left. I understand that we're in the midst of some challenging times and am flexible. I know that people make mistakes and am forgiving. To have our time wasted without the least bit of acknowledgement or accommodation was frustrating and unacceptable. We took our business elsewhere, and will continue to do so in the future. read more

Pay attention to the time and specials : I tried to order wings and get it for Happy Hour price ($6) , half off ...I finally got the bartender's attention as she was busy with tables and it was exactly 6:02 pm. She asked me what time I had on my cell phone and I said 6:02 .. she says that I can't get the wings for $6 .. as the Happy Hr is only from 3 to 6 pm M-F. She said that the Applebee's system will block her for offering that deal exactly at 6 pm. There is no grace period so make sure you have your order in before 6 pm. read more

Waitress got the order wrong with cheesy green beans and a salad with chicken and no tomatoes. Saw a family walk in, get seated, talk to the waitress and walk back out. if i could make this a zero stars i would. but the one star is for the cocktails. if you're ever going here go for just the drinks and appetizers. drinks were 1000000% better than the food itself. when we were seated it took about 10 mins to even get asked what we wanted to drink. the four cheese mac and cheese was so watery it was sliding off the pasta. the loaded mashed potatoes were so cold it couldn't even melt the cheese in them. we had two orders of them and i had to wait on mine. didn't get them until i was just about done eating. didn't even touch them. the riblets barely had any bbq sauce. and also waitresses were complaining about their tip right behind us. still left a $9 tip because our waitress was the only one upfront while everyone else was in the kitchen having a convo. but they just need to do better honestly. i'll be going to tgi fridays instead next time. read more

Right when we entered the building a gaggle of servers with their manager stood in the back and stared at us with a glare I've not seen since the time I came home late from Noah's house and my mom was sitting on the living room couch. Upon further inspection to find the reason for their upset appearance, I found that I had the justifiable audacity to be in the establishment 3 hours before close. We were then met with a less than barely enthused host who came 15 minutes after the death glares. Getting seated was probably one of the best experiences of the night because it was self serve. The only person in the establishment willing to helpfully communicate was a server that was filling in because our actual server was too busy doing something else in an empty restaurant. Ordering our drinks and food was an adventure of its own playing ping pong between what order and direction the servers wanted to go. While ordering one of our party asked about vegetarian/dietary restriction options which threw our server for a loop. 5 minutes later she came back with the whole kitchen's allergy binder for him to go through. While the food was being brought out, more than 3 meals were wrong and had to go back. I have never seen a server so flustered and confused than the one we came upon this night. It's almost as if she had just woken up from a fever dream. The food that was correct was aight. After that there were whispers among the staff about our big group that came and and complained about the service. If you are looking for a place where you would like to eat something you didn't order with a piece of burnt food that isn't even represented on your plate, come here (Free incompetence with every purchase). Abby was our waitress, took FOREVER to get our drinks I think we waited 20 minutes then everyone who came in after us got their food and we asked about it and she told us the cook is getting ready to leave for the night....what!! So finally our food came out and as soon as she finished giving out our plates asked if anyone wanted to-go boxes and brought our check.....like are you serious! Long day at our place in West Virginia mowing and doing chores warranted a steak and adult beverage, so we chose Applebee's in Front Royal. Tricia was our server - a real pro. Friendly, engaging, she knew the menu backwards and forwards, and she exuded positivity. We ordered mirror image meals: the 6 ounce sirloin special (medium rare) with potatoes and steamed broccoli. My 20 ounce Blue Moon was delightfully cold while we waited for our meal, and I checked my emails from the day. The meals arrived without fanfare, and looked great. I quickly determined that my cut of steak had a substantial amount of gristle, while my wife's was perfect in color, shape and texture. I meekly complained and Tricia sprung into action. After about ten minutes a whole new meal came out accompanied by the manager. This steak was perfect, and the manager graciously offered to buy my dinner. Any other restaurant manager would not have extended such an offer, and I humbly accepted her offer. To any other reviewers who dis this restaurant, you are whiny malcontents who can never be pleased. As for me and my wife, we WILL be back. A delightful experience. read more

It's Applebee's! Being a large chain, I feel more inspired to comment on what may differentiate this Applebee's from others. (a) It is bright with spacious isles. (b) It has televisions in every direction, which can be a bit distracting. (c) They have portable sound boxes that you can get to bring to your table, so as to be able to hear what is playing on any particular television. Unfortunately, the sound boxes can be turned up FAR TOO LOUD which makes for a bit of disruption if the child at the next table wants to deafen themselves with Spongebob. (d) Try to avoid being seated at the tables around the bar. The bartender is responsible for them and I swear, they overwork that guy. He does his best but it makes for some very slow service. (e) They have the hot bacon dressing that other Applebee's list on their menus but always seem to claim is "out." That stuff is awesome. I always guessed that the other Applebee's were just too lazy to actually heat the stuff. (f) This Applebee's does NOT smell like pee. I really hate to say that, but I've been to some other local Applebee's with some frequency and they have a seriously pungent aroma, like if you went into the restaurant in the dark with a bluelight, you would see all sorts of horrible bright splotches. This Applebee's is SPOTLESS. (If you own the Applebee's at Fair Lakes or Falls Chuch, please steam clean your carpets! Omg!! Do it now!! Rinse and repeat!!) (g) Like many other restaurants, the hostess just loves to seat us adjacent to another group, regardless of how many open seats there are. I know its convenient for waiters to have tables next door to one another, but really, if you have enough space then hostesses should (and in fine dining, do) leave at least one open space between groups. If you're a social butterfly or have really great hearing, this should be fine with you. But I like to have a modicum of privacy in my dining. So, the above being said, you know what you're getting at Applebee's. Decent food, decent prices. Good sweet tea. read more

Now I remember why I don't go to Applebee's. I had the triple play or what not, with 3 appetizers together for a meal. My mini burgers were OK, the mini chicken sandwiches were dry and tasteless, and my spicy thai chicken tenders were a 3 at best. My dad had the Fajitas, and thought they were good. I tried a piece of the meat and found it average with little flavor. The service was great though... however, the food is a bigger deal when I'm rating a place I have only been to once. If you have to stop in Fort Royal like we did... try the Friday's across the street. read more
