Lunch for four today included a hamburger, prime rib dip, bbq riblets and bbq chicken wings. My prime rib dip was served on an overly soft bun, the prime rib had been overcooked to the well done stage and they added American cheese which was a first (and hopefully last) time I have ever seen that. The jus appeared to be a scoop of their French onion soup. They also added American cheese to the hamburger despite a request that it be omitted. On the plus side, the onion rings were crunchy and flavorful as well as the riblets and chicken. The bbq sauce tasted very similar to KC bbq sauce but was a hit with the two diners. Worst Valentines Day Dinner Ever!!! If I could give it less than one star I would! First I had to sit and wait nearly 15 minutes to be seated. Okay yeah it was a holiday. I get it. That said that should have been my first clue as to how my dining experience was going to end up. So we get to the table we order our drinks and our food. After what seemed like an eternity the nice young lady comes back and said there had been a glitch with the computer and that our meal would be delayed. We had already been waiting about 35 minutes before our appetizer of glorified nacho bell grande chips and beans. Nothing special. Then we wait a quite awhile longer for the main course arrive. My husband ordered his steak medium well with fries it came to the table rare. I order my steak medium and got dried out well I also ordered mashed potatoes and the plate they served my meal on was hotter than the mashed potatoes. Then because I had waited all that time sipping on my 9 dollar cocktail I had nothing to go with my meal so I ordered a ipa. Well the check came before the ipa arrived. Now I realize that this was Valentines Day and of it being a special day many people were taking their loved ones out for what should have been a very special meal and experience that was in our case most certainly not a very positive experience. This was my first time at this location so my review isn't based on possible consistency. Arrived at 1:30pm and it was pretty dead. Took a little while to get a server to come by and order drinks but its okay. Usually that would bug me but we were just killing time so I didn't care. Once she came she was friendly, helpful and professional. Got our order in and that was that. Now, I've visited Applebee's in California, Washington and EVERYtime I order the same dish (bourbon st chicken and shrimp) it comes out cold or not sizzling as advertised. Its pathetic. I have always thought of Applebee's as an OK place to go. Mediocre food and service. But it's good and it's fairly cheap. In the last few months I've noticed a huge change in the quality of the food and the drinks. The menu changes are great and things have been flavorful and very yummy. We made an order to go on my birthday. When we got the order it wasn't what I had ordered. I thought maybe it just was made different. After searching for some fried shrimp in the chicken strips I took my order back. They were great to give me the order I had made first. There must of been some confusion in the phone order. After 30 minutes of waiting for our drinks, Andrew, the manager, comes to the table and sits our appetizer down and leaves without a word. We haven't seen our waitress in at least 10 minutes, and we now assume she was on break. Finally, my husband gets up and goes to the bar where he fi ds our drinks waiting and brings them back. Seconds later, our meal arrived by guess who the manager Andrew, I spoke up and said I was really disappointed that we had to wait half an hour for our drinks and then go get them ourselves. He rudely retorted that they were busy. I looked around, and more than half the tables were empty. When we paid, we noticed we were also charged full price for our drinks even though we didn't have anything to drink until a half hour into happy hour. I hadn't been to an Applebees in years, and went with some friends who picked it as the dinner spot. Yuck... It's just like I remember... Dirty, poor service, and bland food. The menus were visibly filthy and sticky - not appetizing... Spinach dip was almost flavorless. Queso burger was impossible to eat with your hands as it fell apart completely. The first round of drinks we got were basically just soda water since their machine apparently ran out of syrup. Our waitress clearly did not want to be there, as she spent more time standing around talking to co-workers or on her phone than she spent waiting on tables. Any refills we asked for took 30+ minutes and you'd get 2 tiny pieces of meat, making the whole bottomless chicken tenders and fries thing pretty pointless. Overall a miserable experience. We eat here a few times a year, mainly because one of our clients gives us a few hundred dollars in gift cards every Christmas. My review is based on the fact that this is a CHAIN restaurant. A cook is preparing your food, not a chef. If you expect more, you shouldn't eat here. Anyway, some solid, simple dishes like grilled chicken, oriental salad, brew pub pretzel with cheese. We don't care for the "all in" burgers, where they mix toppings in with the meat; we prefer a straight forward burger. Overall, it's a dependable Applebees. There's often a floor manager walking the dining room and checking in with guests. If I have ever had any issue with an order, he has quickly taken care of it. read more

This is by far the most unwelcoming place to go and eat for minorities. The Manager is real quick to treat African Americans very unpleasantly. Her way of doing business doesn't make sense . Then she rushed to the bar area and proceeded to get my drinks and was very surprised to learn from the bar tender that yes I may be black but I also I have a job, a very good good, my intelligence out weights hers by a long shot and yes I'm calling them out. Their food is really good but... when I ordered two meals that both came with 2 sides, I was charged extra for those sides. I got ribs with mac & cheese and onion rings, which was my choice when I asked what I could have but when I picked it up curbside I was charged extra. I'm a regular customer at this Applebees and unfortunately this restaurant in Gresham is going down hill. And fast. Ordered food to go, upon pickup, I requested a price adjustment on my broccoli pasta (managers know as to why) when I ordered over the phone, and it never happened and didn't realized until after they ran my card. My "steamed" broccoli was cold and very hard, barely any BBQ sauce on the boneless wings. Kids meal drink was never provided, so I had to request it at time of paying. And on top of it all, no utensils were given, nor napkins. I was going straight to a football game and definitely needed utensils/napkins for my kids and I. When I noticed this when I left, I had to stop by Wendy's drive through to get some. In my opinion those things should be provided. Whenever I dine in, the hosts/waiters/ waitresses don't look happy and overall look miserable. I get during these covid times, things can be hard in the restaurant biz but don't let it show. But when I asked the waitress, she said they didn't do it. I visited applebee's a couple days ago with my girlfriend and her brother. The staff was very nice, the atmosphere wasn't bad. But for us, that was a sugar coated entrance into a bad dining experience in taste and quality. Our waitress was nice and took our orders quick and when we weren't ready she made sure to check on us frequently, but no too frequently. We started out with appetizers and drinks. Chicken Quesadilla, hot wings, couple sodas and an alcoholic beverage called the "Shark Bowl". Upon receiving the items, the hot wings were not hot what so ever. In fact, they were actually BBQ wings. Order was incorrect, starting on a bad note. The "alcoholic" drink was given in what seemed like an actual half to a fish bowl. Nothing wrong there, considering the drink was $9. But the problem? Almost no alcohol. No sign of it at all. Tasted more like a sweet blue rasberry slushy with a gummy shark in it.The chicken quesadilla, was bland, had many ingredients from peppers, to different types of cheese, to tomatoes, etc... yet, tasted like a microwaved home version, not done well I might add. On to the main course. I myself got the chicken tenders platter. Fries and a drink. My girlfriend got Pasta rigatoni w/ garlic bread. Her brother got Baby back ribs with mac and cheese and french fries. The food arrives, and it all goes from meh, to worse. My chicken tenders. They were OK. No seasoning, needed to salt them myself. Fries accompanied them well, hard to screw up a classic combo. The brother's food, baby back ribs were decent, however, no meat. At least, barely any. Starting with the bread, You get one stick of bread, that's it.. but not like you needed more from here anyway. It was so crunchy and bland it was almost hard to swallow. Store bought texas toast was 10x better than that garbage. The rigatoni, was in-edible. It was rock hard, I'm not exaggerating, and the sauce was like a sloppy joe mixture. I've been coming here for years and the last few visits I have dealt with rude staff, but have been hoping that I would come back and there would be change but no. I have only had a good experience with two servers here one a blonde male and another female named Sam. Once a male server tried to add on different items onto our bill that we didn't even order and then tried to charge us for an appetizer of fries when they came with our daughters (age 3) kids meal. We did not even order an appetizers. Today I came in with my infant and my husband. When we arrived I went to the bathroom to change my daughters diaper. Right after a waitress came into the bathroom and was hitting her "vape" right next to our daughter and was on her phone. As I was finishing changing my daughters diaper an employee came into the bathroom visibly upset so I proceeded to ask her if everything was alright. I talked with her for a moment in the stall about two minutes when another employee came in and yelled at her to come out. Then not more than 30 seconds later the manager came in (I could see through the crack in the stall) and said "I don't know what's wrong with you but you need to get out of here now!" Like woah what happened to human decency. Completely disgusting behavior and treatment by the manager. I wouldn't want to work for her. Thanks Vincent, for ruining my evening tonight. You are seriously not meant to be a bartender or be in any type of service related industry work. I had to write a review this evening in regards to my displeasure with the bartender here for dinner. Vincent, has absolutely no common courtesy, no rapport, no followup, and was too big headed for apologizing for an obvious mistake. If I was a secret shopper and I had to survey this restaurant this evening based on his performance this restaurant would have absolutely failed under his actions. In the beginning he was ok. It was a simple greeting nothing personable at all. He took my order and got my drink. After I received my food from him that was the last he would speak to me until he picked up my plate. Never once did he: *Smile *Ask me how I was doing *Follow up with me *Never offered dessert or additional beverages(no upsale whatsoever) *Offer me the check He seemed to be caught up making drinks for his associates and following up with his regulars that held a precedent over the other patrons here. I had to ask the hostess to tell the manager to get the inattentive bartender to get my check after waiting for 20 minutes. She tells the bartender and even then his other customers were still more important so he chose to serve their drinks first then attend to me. He gets my check and doesn't apologize for his actions or even discuss it to ease the situation. He gives me a dirty look and drops the check off with no thank you. He stuck around a little bit to watch over me as I signed my credit card receipt as if to see whether I was going to tip him or not. I still chose to tip him even though I was disgusted by his service. I tried to give you guys a chance after my last horrible service at your Vancouver location. It seems to me you guys really don't care about your customers here. So I think its time we went our separate ways. I WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN..... Had I did this review a couple of month's ago, this might have been a solid 3 stars. However, the location in Gresham managed to pull them down to a solid 2. I don't mind going to Applebee's for salad and their steak is good for lunch, nothing you'd rush the out of town relatives to eat, but a solid lunch choice. I went in on Thursday and they know us there because I meet my son for lunch a couple times a month. So, I was surprised when the hostess said, let me sit you in the bar, Megan, (yeah, Megan, I am calling you out by name) said she knows you. This game would later be explained to me by my son, that Megan had zero customers and they wanted us to give her some business, ie tips. We go in the bar area and I see one other table in that area with a customer. Okay, fine, she will be on it. Well, really now.. that jinxed me, I should banish those hopeful thoughts. Megan did not know me, or how to bring out anything. My son arrived and we ordered. We got the chicken won ton tacos for an appetizer. Those always come first. Not this time, salad and soup hit the table and about ten minutes later the tacos. She didn't refill drinks or come back. From where I sat I could see out to the rest of Applebee's where the customers were laughing and eating and unicorns pranced and magic fairies were refilling drinks as fast as customers could drink them. Then reality smacks me in the head and my plate comes from the kitchen from somebody else, other than Megan. So, I see bacon and cheese in little cups and think, mmmhhmm what is that? Since I didn't order them, I should have asked, but hey nobody came back. They were on the other side of Applebee's divider wall reveling in the unicorn magic of good service. So, when Megan did drop my check off and ran, I see I am charged $1.50 for the bacon and cheese. I had to wait for her to get done telling the other table about her trip to Mexico, to get her attention and ask what the charge was. She said you asked for EVERYTHING on the side. I said, no I asked for the sour cream on the side. She got a little snippy about it and insisted I asked for it and finally she says,"THIS ONE TIME..". Okay, anytime a server or any other person in the position of power over your final tab utters, THIS ONE TIME.. you know they think they are right and you are an idiot and please crawl out of there grateful for their act of kindness. The highlight of my dinner experience was that the to-go boxes weren't even boxes but more like Tupperware (reusable and free!), and the low point was that the food tasted somewhat microwaved. (Not in a bad way, just in a microwaved way.) I give this place a solid thumbs sideways, my experience was adequate. They're open late and if you're already in the area might as well stop by for some moderately priced appetizers. Greeting and service is hit and miss. Sometimes we come in and wait for someone to notice there are customers, while sometimes we're seated immediately. Sometimes the server takes forever and sometimes they're just perfect. The crap on the TVs is boring, and the decorations are really cliche. At least most of them are pleasing, because who doesn't love those old photographs that are in every place. Food is just sub par, usually alright and cheap enough. I do tend to love the riblets but the amount of meat on them can be disappointing. Taste, though, is good. It's worth upgrading the two for twenty meals and get more, it's still cheap. And their artichoke dip is divine. Sometimes the food is great but I've not had a meal that was utterly awful. A bit charred yes, but not inedible. Really young crowd, can get loud and crowded. Oh well. Good enough for those days you don't want to eat at home and don't want to spend a fortune. read more

The place was nice, clean, and not too loud like other Applebee's; it was however, chilly. They have late night happy hour so their appetizers were half off which was awesome. I ordered the Hot Shot Whiskey Chicken which I really liked because it was savory and really tasty. About my drink, I think it was delicious, but too sweet.
