For the 1st time in a long while We decided to try applebee's for lunch today. A big mistake. The menu has shrunk significantly since the last time we were in. My wife had a Caesar salad which was all right but nothing to write home about. I had the chicken dinner lunch special. The 5 small chicken tenders (nuggets?) We're overcooked and overly seasoned yet overly seasoned. They tasted like the frozen no name brand you would get at the supermarket. The tenders were accompanied by a very small portion of French fried potatoes which also tasted like the no name brand from the supermarket. It is now over an hour later and I still have a bad aftertaste in my mouth from the chicken. Based on my experience I can see why at lunchtime there were less than a 3rd of the tables filled. The most disgusting Tex-mex, I don't even know what it is. Kids were turning their plates upside down and rice and beans stuck. It was so gross. Rice tasted like too much cumin.. My it took forever for use to get out food and there was barley anyone in here when I got my food it came out cold and I sent it back and the brought me out someone's dish and then left it there then came back grabbed the dish from me then gave it to another guy and then brought my dish out dry and everything the gave use are check and tried to charge use 60 more dollars for a whole meal we didn't order and charged use three times for one meal I do not recommend this place and the worker there that messed all of this up his names Nathan and good luck if you get him. We stopped in Applebee's for happy hour while visiting Gulfport. We sat at the bar and ordered the specials. I took one sip of my mixed drink and told the bartender that it was way too sweet. She poured it out and replaced it with a beer. We visited with the locals and enjoyed our drinks. We ordered the half price cheese sticks, which were cold by the time they were brought out. We were finishing up when (I honestly don't even know how to describe what occurred) a young man came up to us from behind the bar. He started saying how it was illegal to not pay for a drink whether you liked to or not and muttering about the ABC and us costing them their license. We, as well as everyone sitting around us at the bar, had no idea what was going on. After this interchange kept going on, we realized he was talking about the drink that I ordered and didn't drink from when we first sat down, the one the bartender poured out and replaced. We still had no clue who this kid was. Finally he said something about being the manager and how he would give us the half priced appetizer free. Now, I was in the food service for a long time and my wife also works in a public position and a person should never approach a customer like that. The manager of a restaurant should always introduce himself as the manager first before talking to a guest and most certainly should never embarrass them and accuse them of illegal activity. I will never go back to this Applebee's and possibly no other Applebee's. Corporate needs to train their managers, especially Casey at Applebee's on HWY 49 in Gulfport. read more

I would never recommend anyone to ever come here. when I first got here it was around 4 o'clock. Could tell service was going to be terrible just by the hostesses at the door I finally got a table after no clean ones were readily available and I waited there with my child it didn't seem too busy maybe they were short staffed. I wasn't sure. 15 minutes gone but I still hadn't received any service so I found someone who is cleaning tables if I could get a server as she comes back and apologizes saying that they're in the middle of a shift change, was still so many other staff walking by no one could at least say hey maybe we can get you drinks while u wait. Waited forever for the hostess to seat us, mind you it was lunch and the restaurant was only 1/4 full. Then proceeded to get the wrong orders and poor service. The waiter said she normally hosts but they were short on servers and it showed. The manager should have addressed this as she didn't fill drinks, spilt (and left) food on the floor, and in general seemed very overwhelmed / upset. I go to Applebee's in Slidell, LA all the time and this time we decided to go the one in Gulfport, MS and I have to say I have never been more disappointed in my life, after being seated and we received our drinks and appetizer and at that point we had to ask for silverware and napkins. We then received our food and I was enjoying my steak and broccoli and I went to start on my baked potatoe and when I went to cut my potatoe I found a hair in it. Manager came to see if I i wanted anything else, now why would I want anything else after being throughly disgusted after seeing that. Lousy service. We asked for an appetizer and when the waitress brought our main course, I asked about the appetizer. She said that she forgot. She also forgot our silverware, that we were drinking unsweet tea, (although she never did offer a refill, we had to ask), and part of my meal. Dessert was a disaster! Horrible. This is the worse Applebee's I have ever experienced. French onion soup was loaded with brown sugar! Ick!!! Blackberry tea was sweet tea with a tiny bit of flavoring . And the mgr Wayne is about as useless as a fly on a rock. He never so much as made an attempt to come and apologize for the terrible experience. Best part about the whole visit. I have not been to Applebees in a long time and I will say that I was pleasantly surprised at the great service and excellent food. I ordered the standard 9oz steak and baked potato with steamed veggies. The steak was very tender and cooked to perfection as I requested medium done. The only thing with the meal is that I asked the waiter to substitute my veggies for a side salad. He said yes but it would cost $1.49 extra, I said ok. Well I still received my steamed veggies along with the side salad. In other words, no substitutions. Overall, I enjoyed the evening without having to worry about how much or whether I should even tip the service. read more

I am giving two stars because the servers we had encountered were amazing. We literally could not order 1/3 of the menu because they were out of it. We watched all the tables around us have them be told after they ordered "oh sorry we ran out of this too". To top it off they even ran out of Togo boxes. I visited Applebee's last night to celebrate my husband's birthday with my 5 year old daughter. When we arrived we waited about 5 minutes before anyone greeted us. When the hostess arrived she stated it will be about 10 to 15 minute wait, I said okay. When I looked over to the left side. I noticed 3 Caucasian families spaced apart, I thought cool they are still social distancing. Finally, the hostess said follow me, she took us to the right-side, which didn't make any sense, b/c I just watch you clean two tables on the left side. We walk up the steps where there was no social distancing, all African American very crowded. We left immediately!! What can you say to your 5 year old daughter why we can't stay... she was upset, we all were upset...I spoke with the shift manager (Sarah) that day and today I spoke with the store manager(cindy) . I explained what happened, she stated she would look into it...I stated the hostess should be fired on the spot! To separate guest by their race is unbelievable! What we are going through and have been through people still trying to divide. My husband and I both have served in the military, how much we have sacrifice and still get mistreated b/c of the color of our skin!! read more

Absolute worst place to go. They were not busy and we still waited 1 hour for drinks that had sat at the bar and not brought to us, and food that was wrong. Waitress was ridiculously rude. Never said anything to us but what's your order. After only 2 things out of 5 of our order were served, 1 was wrong and the other 2 never even came out and we only ordered appetizers, we decided to leave. Along with another couple there who left angry and another family who's food wasn't right. Manager offered to fix all for free. Not acceptable as we had been there over an hour and had the rudest waitress ever. She needs to go along with the whole place being closed down until they can get their act together. I usually LOVE this location, but my experience tonight was HORRIBLE. Maybe don't go on a Monday night? I went around 8:00, and there were 3 tables in the restaurant, including us. Somehow our service was still painfully slow, and by the time my bourbon street chicken and shrimp came out, I found the consistency of both the chicken and shrimp to be rubbery, basically inedible. This is an pretty standard Applebee's. We always sit at the bar, and the bartenders always provide good service. We've learned what to order and what not to order (both food and drinks) and usually have a good experience if we stay within what we've learned. We both wish there were more options on the menu (not sure why Applebee's is trying to be. I've had so many bad food experiences with this chain that I quit going for years. But since gulfport is incredibly lacking in decent restaurants with edible food, we decided to be adventurous and try this location. Surprise surprise! It was actually pretty good! I had a mudslide that was huge and tasted the way it should. Not too sweet and not too milk heavy. For an appetizer we had the sweet potato fries with 3 different sauces. Two were good. The cream cheese one? Uhh not so much. For entree I had the shrimp n parmesan steak with veggies n garlic mashed potatoes. I ordered my steak medium rare-I got my steak medium rare! Very tender. Lots of flavor. Shrimp n parmesan was very good. Veggies were crisp and brightly colored with good flavor as well. Garlic mashed potatoes were ok too. Overall it was a nice dining experience. Waitress was pleasant. Not over attentive and not MIA which is how we prefer. We'll be back. I loved that mudslide! read more
