We both ordered the $6.99 lunch combo. We have the tortilla soup and the half chicken club. The tortilla soup was OK, nothing special. I probably would not order it again. The chicken club was very good and tasty. Lots of good seasoning and a good sauce on it. They also ordered a very small perfect size Brownie with a little scoop of ice cream for a dollar. This was absolutely delicious and hit the spot. The brownie was gooey and gooey and had walnuts in it with just a little bit of ice cream. I would definitely recommend the dollar dessert. I wanted to try the new O-M-Cheese burger in the 2 for $25 meal but wanted to switch the meat to the impossible patty. My server comes back and tells me the computer isn't letting me change the meat for the 2 for $25. I told her I'll pay the up charge I just don't eat meat. She tells me I'll go talk to my manager. She comes back shortly and tells me it can't be done per her manager. We ended up getting a separate meal and two appetizers totaling almost $50. No manager ever came to explain anything to us and even though the meals were good it wasn't what we wanted and ended up spending double. read more

Our server was very nice. However it took forever to receive our food. 54 minutes for a cheese burger and a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was adequate, the onion rings were soft and soggy. My husband's cheeseburger was ok. Nothing special about it. The French fries were supposed to be well done and they were also soft. No church to them at all. The woman's bathroom was dirty. But it always is. There was paper on the floor in the bathroom stall. There was trash on counters and floors in dining room. We sat at the bar and we were talking to an another couple sitting also at the bar. They said they were regulars and they expect it to take a long time to get their food. The hostess seated us and we waited, waited and finally after 15 min of no one coming over, believe me the hostess who seated us knew, we left. Stopped here for dinner in Harlingen (TX) last Friday. The restaurant had a few customers already. A male waiter took us to a table adjacent to a large group of people. At our request, the server directed us to another table. He took our drink order (Coke and a water), announced he would be our waiter and disappeared for about 10-15 minutes. When he returned with our drinks, we gave him our order and he left again. About 25 minutes later, we hadn't seen him and our food hadn't arrived. The two guests at the next table were also searching for their waiter. We inquired of a female waiter and she said she would notify our waiter. Five minutes later our waiter appeared and said in a rushed manner, "You haven't gotten your food?" We said we hadn't and he literally ran off. Meanwhile, the customers next to us chose to leave. We patiently waited another 10 minutes to give our waiter the benefit of the doubt. Then we left. We waited a total of 45 minutes. This is poor service and unlike the service we normally receive at our local (Brownsville) Applebee's. We will not return to this Harlingen Applebee's location and will warn others to stay away. read more

My husband ordered the chicken and shrimp. Chicken so hard he couldn't cut it and only one little lonely shrimp. I don't drink and his margarita had so little alcohol I couldn't of drank it. My one lady friend was so upset she went to the manager and he removed the charge for the ranch dressing. I felt he really didn't give a blank. My ice tea was ok...that's it. I had a $44 ticket that he did change to $33. But I truly felt it was grudgingly. Please do not waste your money. Second chance and the 4 of us will NEVER try it again. This place was Loud, it's not what I was expecting. It looks like it's been around since the 70's. The carpet was so worn and sticky. The Tables certainly needed to be restored or replaced. It was just horrible. The Ceasar salad was nothing like I've ever experienced, the dressing was literally poured on top of some sort of greens. It didn't take long to get soggy. The Grille Club, was served on what looked like white toast. It was not appealing to look at. The fries were pale and tasted like nothing. I will never return to this dirty dive again. The karaoke was fun but I really feel you all need to train your hostess better. We were a party of 7 and were told there would be an hour wait. There was a big empty table in the back and the hostess said that "some lady" was sitting there but "she left and said she would be right back"! The hostess said if "the lady" doesn't come back in half an hour she would let us sit there! What the hell?! This is ridiculous! She was holding a table for an invisible lady??!! The service was fine, I know a lot of reviews slammed it but my waitress was attentive. The cleanliness was EXTREMELY lacking; I ordered a coffee, when I finished dressing it I removed the stir spoon and found a giant glob of green vegetable on it. Which means it was in my coffee. I then inspected my water cup, and found lots of black flakes suspended in it. The sides to my meal were very good, but my salmon was over cooked probably by at least 4 or 5 minutes. Really impressed. And I avoid chains like the plague. I was pleasantly surprised! Great blue cheese and bacon wedge salad. Delish quesadilla hamburger. Nice hot tasty fries. Club sandwich was good. Server was super nice and attentive. We wound up there because EVERY other yelp restaurant we tried to go to on a Sunday afternoon was closed! I know, 3 pm is an odd time to eat. But we were hungry, so there you have it. So we were pleasantly surprised by how good it actually was. We always choose local over chain, but if that's all there is, then we'll succumb. The day started with a ten minute wait, no big deal, but it just got worse. The appetizer came out pretty quick about 10 or 15 minutes. The main took around another 45 minutes. I had a steak that I asked for medium rare, it came out very well done. I wondered why this place was practically empty, at 12:45 pm, for lunch, on a weekday. Poor service! I ordered what I always order, because it's usually a safe bet, and it wasn't! The Bourbon Street Steak was not sizzling when it was brought to my table. I had to almost yell to the waiter, when he asked if everything was fine. He re-plated it and blamed the cook. I shouldn't really expect much from a chain restaurant. The food is good but not near amazing. One thing that I did love was the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. I had one of their new dishes, the Shrimp Fettuccine. The shrimp were soggy and not crunchy like the menu had said. They had absolutely no flavor. The bread was so-so but I wish it would of been softer and warm. The waitress took a little while to return for our order but she did pretty good. Horrible service. We had a group of six adults and the restaurant was not full. The server brought out our plates two at a time, taking about ten min between each two. Brought out my plate which was wrong. And never even brought out my cousins entree after being reminded several times, only to be told "it is almost out". By that time we all finished our food and just canceled his order. Other people have also mentioned that this restaurant has the worst service and they will only go there as a last resort if Chili's (across the street) is full, which it almost always is. Normally I really enjoy coming to this Applebee's. Although I haven't been in a while. This time around I had a pretty bad experience. My boyfriend and I decided to sit at the bar to watch the Cowboys game and order a few drinks but upon sitting down I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to I asked the bartender for a minute. It took about 20 minutes and then my boyfriend decided to just flag the bar tender down so I could place my order for my drink. This was just the first thing that we noticed. The next thing was that the bar tender had her hair down. Now this may initially seem like it isn't a big issue but her hair was very long and every time she reached into the ice bin to get ice or the bin to get glasses her hair would fall into the bins and touch the contents bellow; she would also constantly touch her hair and then go back to touching the contents of the food and drinks she was working with. As someone who once worked in the food industry this is just unacceptable and grossed me out. Applebee's needs to reevaluate their dress code and demand that their employees pin their hair back and are not touching their hair and then coming in to contact with customers food or drinks. read more

On this night, management and staff were very unprofessional and degrading. (My party and I arrived at 10:10, and was cash out at 12:45 05.18.2019, check 9068-1329174) The server, who was apparently taking care of 8-10 tables, finally approached our table and I asked for another beer. She stated " you've already had five and I can only bring you the check" I agreed and cashed out. Still in the establishment with my party last call was announced, I then approached the bar and paid for my drink in full. Management then approached me stating that I had been cut off. However, I never told that I could not drink in the establishment for the remainder of the night. He continued to raise his voice and became verbally aggressive. I explain I was never told I was cut off and that paid for my drink in full, I then asked for a refund as he attempted to grab my drink. I asked again for a refund, he then yelled " I'm not giving you a fucken refund" loud enough to have the entire establishment turn to our table. At this point the server in question opened her folder and throw money at our table while she was standing on top of a short staircase. My partner then stood up and stated " do not be taking to boy that way" management then said "ma'am sit down" clearly make a homophonic pun, causing the manager and the staff to laugh. After the unprofessionalism and Childishness that was displayed by the servers in question and manger involved, I nor my loved ones will be dinning at this establishment. My experience at this particular Applebee's was not a pleasant one. My girlfriend and I were out looking for nice place to dine later at night and Applebee's was the only restaurant open. We were seated quickly since there was only about other 8 people in the restaurant. However, the food took way to long. The server was not curteous and seem more like she wanted to go rather than work. We ordered some wings that never arrived and on top of that, they were charging it. It took about 10 minutes to solve the mistake. For anyone looking to experience Applebee's I recommend Applebee's at McAllen which has much better service. read more
