After a management change a few years ago, the J-ville IL Applebee's has improved 10 fold. The waitress staff is spot on, and back each other up during busy times, Wait times have greatly diminished from what it was years ago. One waitress, taking our order, asked if we would like anything to drink before our orders come out. I asked for coffee, She remembered that I did not like the brand of coffee there, mentioned that fact, and asked if I then asked if I would rather have something else. The coffee is fine, but just not my preferred. And just that one time I mentioned my preference, from over a month before, she remembered, and THAT is what customer service is all about. The Food has been very tasty, amount is satisfyingly, and the price is reasonable (competitive with other like franchise restaurants). The food was good and filling; however, the food is incredibly expensive. When I visited about a week ago me and my buddies got a drink, salad, and chicken Alfredo. The waitress didn't fill my drink when it was empty and the total came out to 28 dollars, before tip. That's ridiculous for some pasta lettuce and soda for one person. It should be 20 dollars per person because that's more reasonable not 28 dollars plus a 6 dollar tip. read more

The service was complete garbage. Three waitresses folding silverware at a table and we sat and patiently waited. Then...with 4 adults ( parents) and two young adults (22yo) tried to order cocktails. They only have Nevada ID's which are still vertical, (because they haven't expired yet) we were told NO vertical ID's are accepted. She was so rude about it. I asked for a manager, who explained it was Applebees policy, even though you can read the birthday and it's a REAL ID. They wouldn't accept it. He went and got his policy manual and the waitresses were making the comments about how they can refuse the right to serve anyone. Which I understand but was trying to understand the policy. After all of this I never received my drink , so we left. We will NEVER return to an Applebees... the worst worst service. Happy June Y'all! Aka pride month (my favorite month of the whole entire year) anyway me and my girlfriend Galaxie decided to take a vacation away from our main homeless camps in Kansas. We walked for days in the sun not knowing we would stumble across this awesome village (because we don't have a car). We lived off of livestock in the wild. (Galaxie has a real talent for taking down the wild beasts, and then cooking them on-a open flame). After a few weeks of surviving off of wild animals we came to this village. There we found this restaurant. And we were extremely excited because we had saved up our money for WEEKS and had scraped up enough money to have a romantic dinner. So as we walked in with our matching rainbow jumpsuits. We were greeted by a particularly scronney looking male. (Not trying to assume gender) he looked at my girlfriend with a hungry expression in his eyes (she is sooooo beautiful) he had us sit down in a run-down looking booth next to the bathroom. To my gruesomely large amount of irritation you could pick up the fumes that were REAKING out of the bathroom. As the waiter took our order of 3 mushroom burgers with extra mayo, he had the AUDACITY to ask my BABE for her number!!! So I leaned over and kissed my girlfriend to signal that we were a couple, he didn't even get the MESSAGE! And proceeded to take her number, which to my UPMOST frustration Galaxie decided to give him. As the night went on we inhaled our burgers. As the waiter dropped off our check he gave Galaxie a KISS!!!!! I was UTTERLY DISGUSTED by his intolerable behavior! And I WHIPPED out my BELT and whipped across the back. As the manager approached the scene she asked what was the matter. But how could she not know?! I told her the story and she was very understanding and paid for our meal+dessert+more dessert! It is for that reason I give them a 5 star review. I recommend this place 8/4! If you have time to drop by this place it won't disappoint. read more

Sorry, generally don't like rating anyone at a 1, but this place earns it. I read all the bad reviews, but figured I'd try it anyway. Should have listened! Walked in, there's nobody greeting you, so I find a seat at the bar. Everyone at the bar I had their drinks, but there's only a few people in the whole place with food. I sit at the bar for 5-10 minutes, and never saw anyone behind the bar. Finally just realized the poor ratings were correct, and walked out. read more

The food is what you would expect from an Applebee's but maybe a few notches down. The service however is a different story! My family has decided to avoid this particular restaurant like the plague! The service is terrible, there is no friendly greeting and the staff often sound annoyed that they have to take yOur order. On our last visit my family left promptly afTer our appetizer was served when it was thrown on our table in passing. Our sons chocolate milk was also carelessly thrown onto the table. But once we asked for our main courses to go the staff waS very pleasant. A complaint about service to the manager was impossible. First, I really like Applebee's. I've enjoyed going to various locations in central Illinois since I learned to drive. Second, we've /i/never/i/ had an experience at a restaurant that has caused us to get up and leave. Well, we hadn't before tonight. I ordered the 7oz sirloin rare, and my wife ordered pepper-crusted sirloin and whole grains. We ordered the spinach-artichoke dip as an appetizer. The dip was burnt (the cheese on the rim was black), but we just removed the burnt skin and went with it. No big deal. The chips, however, were stale--like, the-bag-has-been-open-for-days stale--and broken into tiny pieces. Again, no big deal. We politely asked for some new chips. The second batch were the same stale crumbs, so we just asked them to take the app away--a first for us. When the entrees arrived, my wife's plate was a mess. It was supposed to have sautéed mushroom, onions, and rice. It was essentially a boiled stew of beef and overcooked vegetables. My steak was certainly rare, but I'm pretty sure it was microwaved. It wasn't seared, it was tougher than well-done, it was gray, and it was laden with fat. We flagged down our server, and when my wife told him that her food didn't taste good or look anything like the menu, he told her, "Well, it's healthy, so..." We asked for a manager. We explained to her that the entrees were poorly made, and her response to my wife's was, "Yeah, that dish normally tastes like dirt." I showed her my steak, and she said it looked fine. I asked her if our chips came out of the bottom of the bag, and she said, "No, we make our chips fresh every day. In fact, I know they made them today because we ran out last night." That tells me that they're not normally made every day, and they were stale because they had been prepared eight+ hours earlier. So we said we were going to go. We didn't feel like waiting for another entree to be made. She said that she would get our server with our bill. For a brief moment, I thought they were actually planning on charging us. He brought our ticket to us, then said, "You know, I don't think I'm going to make you pay." Not the best experience. We're now at BDubs. We made the right choice. read more

I eat at Applebee's about 10 times a year and I am never dissatisfied with my meal until tonight. I used their carry out service and that will not happen again (if I go back). My sirloin was ordered medium rare and there isn't any pink what so ever and it was as tough as leather. My garlic mashed potatoes had dried crust on top indicating they had been in the container for quite sometime. I received no bread or dinner roll. Very disappointed read more

I have gone here a few times with my family when I home to visit them. Usually there's something wrong with the food or I feel that my meal was not as good as it could have been. The service has, for the most part been fine, though. If you're hanging out on or near Morton, want a sit-down meal, and don't have time/don't want to go to the downtown area, I would say go here only then. read more

Definitely a bad showing from Applebee's. It took 10 min to get a table, not because they were crowded but because they didn't have staff to clear tables. Once we were seated it took the waitress 3 tries to remember our drink order (a beer, jack and coke, rum and coke). 15 minutes to get the beer because they didn't have any clean glasses. The appetizers were pretty solid, wings could've used more sauce though. Our party of three order the steak (medium) and Parmesan shrimp, a grilled chicken breast, and a blazin' Texan burger with sweet potato fries. The steak came out overcooked by about 20 min with no shrimp. Their solution was to bring out a plate of shrimp with the sauce and swap the steak off the plate. The chicken breast was drier than California right now. The burger that came out was the brunch burger with sweet potato fries. Once the correct burger was brought out half of the fries were gone. Needless to say the whole time there were people waiting to sit simply because there was no staff to seat them. We were shocked they didnt comp anything, but I guess that's why it's the lowest of the casual restaurant chains. read more

Very disappointed, service was terrible, took 30 minutes for my order to be taken, when I received my food I had no silverware yet, I waited ten minutes for that, then when I cut into my steak that was to be medium rare, it was more than well done. So then a fresh steak was prepared, and was very good. No one really seemed to care. There were no apologies and no comps. After our experience, we will never be back. The staff there is extremely unprofessional. You could hear all the screaming and profanity coming from the kitchen, no matter where you were in the restaurant. I get it it's work and you try making it fun but not when your guests hear all the disrespect. There were 2 "newbies" complaining about the work when out on the floor. For example, one saying that "he's still on the rag," and complaining about the other staff. Our waitress was amazing, just feel bad she is working in that environment. I did a carside at this location and it was a good meal. the app was easy to use and the food came out super quickly after I pulled in. PARENTS - this is a game changer. We had horrible service. We are a family of 3 and the waitress got all 3 orders wrong. My daughters order for example was a order of boneless buffalo wings. They brought her out boneless BBQ wings. I did lick one to make sure it was indeed incorrect before I would say anything to the waitress. The waitress took it back and brought out her buffalo ones within SECONDS, which made me to believe they were already up there for her to grab which would mean those BBQ ones were someone else's that is why she took them back. Now i don't know about any one else but if my order was given to someone else by accident I wouldn't want it to be taken from them because that means 98% of the time you're bringing it right to me. (Keep in mind I had already tasted it) I've never worked as a waitress but I think the best way to handle a situation like that would be sorry for the confusion, you can keep those at no charge and your other one will be up soon. The steak I ordered tasted good but the loaded baked potato lacked bacon and cheese. The waitress charged me but never gave me a receipt. When I asked for the receipt she had lost it and was looking every where for it until after several minutes just had someone reprint it. Didn't really like the atmosphere. Since Applebee's has been in Jacksonville it has declined in food quality. My family I had stopped dining there some time ago because the food was sub-par. Since then, Applebee's underwent a transformation both in food and in atmosphere. So, we thought we would give it another chance. This was a mistake. It gets one star because the drinks had ice in them and the appetizers were edible. When I recieved my food it was unseasoned and smothered in under cooked onions. The wine sauce on my chicken entree was literally the most bland thing I have ever put in my mouth. My wife and daughter each ordered a sirloin entree and while their sauce was ok, there steaks were not. Both steaks were not done to specified temperature. Both were supposed to be medium. One was well done and one was mid-rare. The steaks were in fact pre-frozen and quick thawed. They had a rubber texture to them. The sides of broccoli that came with their meal was an entire stalk and was literally raw. The only think that could have made this meal worse was bad service. The service was fine and the manager compensated us for ALL of the entrees after asking us if we wanted anything else from the kitchen. Of course, we did not want to eat anything else that had been cooked in that kitchen. There is a reason that there were only 4 tables of seated guests when we arrived at 6:30 pm on a Sunday evening. In fact, there were more staff in the restaurant than guests. I would not recommend this place to anyone and we of course, will not be returning. Side note (my wife and I fell in love with each other while sitting across a booth from one another at Applebee's and it is sad that we have to share that memory with our latest experience.) read more
