My husband and I usually go to the Red Robin across the street from this Applebees because we enjoy the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere there. Saturdays and Sundays are days we love to go out to have lunch. For the first time, we decided to try this Applebee's because it would be nice to have another sit-down restaurant option in the area (we live 5 minutes away). The hostess, was extremely kind and seated us right away. I was genuinely excited while looking through the menu. Unfortunately, the experience changed once our server Hope, came to the table. From the beginning, she seemed very uninterested in serving us and gave off the impression that she did not want to be there. She rarely smiled, dropped off drinks and food without saying anything, and overall did not make us feel welcomed as guests. In this economy, it is imperative that businesses try and keep customers not keep them away. Also, my husband had asked for his steak to be brought out to eat at the restaurant instead of taking it home. Well, she brought it packed and said they had already packed it. How? When he asked about 5 minutes after placing the order to have it served on a plate to eat there and our food didn't come out right away. She couldn't have asked them to put it on a plate instead. We both work in customer service, so we understand that everyone can have difficult days, and we always try to be understanding and respectful. This review is not meant to attack anyone personally, but rather to provide honest feedback because customer interaction plays a huge role in the dining experience. A welcoming attitude, even something as simple as basic friendliness and communication, can completely change how customers feel about returning to an establishment. The food itself was actually great, and the hostess made a great first impression, which is why i left the 3 stars. We are usually great tippers! We love tipping gracefully. Unfortunately this time we were so upset that our lunch was ruined by her attitude that i took most of my food home and left a zero tip. The service from our waitress Hope helped us decide we will not be returning. A side note: An elderly couple behind us asked for the manager right before we left and her response was snarky and rude. Decided to come here with my parents and my bf for a quick casual lunch. We were quickly sat in a booth and given menus. They have a cual family friendly ambiance and also have a bar area that is open seating. My bf ordered a burger and I got the bourbon steak. The food came out relatively quickly and it was good tasting. His burger was good, but didn't have too much flavor. My steak was cooked ok but it is obvious that it is previously frozen as they attempted the medium rare but was more of a medium well. I think for the price, you can't expect too much and I still think it's a good value for money. The meat had good flavor and I enjoyed it. The mashed potatoes were very good. Overall I would be back for a casual budget friendly meal. read more

At least the food was good ... BUT the Host was more of a Host Whisperer with lip reading a mandatory requirement to try and figure out what he was saying. Charades would have been a better experience. Service was super slow and we didn't get our food until a full 45 mins later!! Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. We ordered the all-you-can-eat option and never even got the opportunity to order a second portion. We sat without drinks while eating, and after asking for a manager, she assured us she would make things right. She took our order for drinks, condiments, and our second round of food -- and then never brought any of it out. After waiting 1 hour and 45 minutes, we finally decided to leave. The service was completely unacceptable, and to make matters worse, multiple people around us were also walking out after waiting 30+ minutes just to be acknowledged. This was one of the worst dining experiences we've had. Never again will I return to this restaurant. read more

Great experience overall - Our group of 8 seniors eat dinner out fairly often (especially on weekends) and we usually expect wait times of 45+ minutes and a busy/rushed wait staff. Not so at our recent trip to the La Habra location. We waited apx 30 minutes for a table (very reasonable) and were met by our server, Gilbert, soon after. We asked for separate checks, changes to the standard offerings and split meals (we're retired, so...) and everything was handled perfectly. We all ordered different meals and enjoyed our food, never feeling rushed as sometimes happens on a Saturday night. Gilbert was especially friendly, attentive and made us feel at home. We live in different cities nearby and have visited many other Applebee's but this one stood really stood out, and we all agreed that this is the one we'll go to from now on. read more

For the first time in a long time I'm eating at Applebee's! I rarely go to these restaurants, but something recently caught my eye! AYCE riblets, boneless wings, or fried shrimp for only $14.99 a person. Heck yeah! Never been to this location before, but it was in the neighborhood I was in. Upon arriving there was at least a 20 to 30 minute wait. Once you're seated let's eat! Service here was great! I guess it depends on who your server is for the night. So back to AYCE, definitely get the riblets! It's smothered in good bbq sauce and very tender. There are bones, but the bone to meat ratio is not too bad since it's ribs anyways. Boneless wings were good too; wasn't too fond of the garlic Parmesan though. Overall good food, great company with a group, and nice dining experience. read more

Then we waited at least 30 minutes for our food while others who were seated way after us were getting their food served. We asked for crispy fries but they were not at all. Worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant. Took over an hour twenty minutes for our food to come out. Our waiter avoided thru out our experience. I had to call on a different waiter for a refill on beverage. Place wasn't even busy, and many waiters standing around talking to each other instead of being helpful. I would first like to start by saying that the meal we ordered was very good. I had the Tex Mex Shrimp bowl. It had lots of flavor and was cooked to perfection. My husband had the quesadilla burger and had no complaints with his meal either. What transpired after our meal is the reason I gave only 1 star - I would have given no stars if there was an option. We signed up for the e-club yesterday and the perk for signing up was you get a free appetizer. We got the email about 30 minutes later with the code for the appetizer and an expiration of 15 days for the date the email was received, in our case it was 4/30/26 so the expiration date said 5/14/26. When we placed our order, my husband showed our server, Giselle, the code. She said "no problem" and asked which appetizer we would like. We chose the New Loaded Potato Waves that were $10.99 (one of the least expensive on the menu). We then ordered our entree's. Like I said, the meal and appetizer were exceptional. Giselle came to clean some of our dishes when we were done then turned the little kiosk on the table with the bill towards us and said "take your time" and took off fast. I clicked on "view details" and noticed that the appetizer was not taken off. It took 13 minutes before Giselle was anywhere to be seen so we could inform her. The first thing she said was "I'll get my manager" - obviously knowing it was not taken off the bill. The manager came over and when my husband showed him the code, he proceeded to say that we had to wait 24 hours after we join for the code to be active - say what??? I asked him to show us where it says that and he says "It is in the fine print". NOPE!!! We showed him the website AND the app and the email and NO WHERE does it say you have to wait 24 hours. I again asked him to show me where it states that and he couldn't. He then tried to be nice and offer a free dessert for our troubles - WHAT??? Just take the fricken appetizer off the bill is all we are asking (desserts were more than the cost of the appetizer). He again declined to do so. I then asked for a business card with the number to the corporate office so I could call and get a real answer as to why we were declined the free appetizer (it was only 4pm so the corporate office would have been open). He declined to give me the number. We paid the bill and got up and walked out. I will be contacting the coprporate office to find out about this policy and to ask where I can see it in writing. Needless to say, we WILL NOT be going back to the La Habra Applebees. read more

Our American Legion Post, a group of 10 met at Applebees last night for dinner, but unfortunately the server we had shouldn't even be working as a server. My wife and I had this server once before and had a bad experience with her also, so this was not a one off. She's just not a good server. Her name is Judith. First of all she didn't come around to take our drink orders for about 15 minutes, and then disappeared for another 15 minutes, when she came back with the drinks, usually a server will then begin taking the orders after serving the drinks, but Judith once again disappeared again for about another 15 minutes before coming back to take our orders. The service was ultra slow and the restaurant was not very busy. She's very direct, reminds me of a military drill sergeant. When I asked if I could have a baked potato instead of mashed, she answered in a very gruff way "we don't have baked potatoes". No, I'm sorry, but we don't have baked potatoes. The worse part came when I was paying for my meal. I was using a gift card and was unable to pay at the table with the little instrument they bring to the table, so I went up front to pay at the register. Even though I didn't think she deserved a tip for the lousy service, I left $5 on the table. Now when she ran my gift card at the register, without telling or asking if I wanted to ad a tip, she tipped herself 20%!!! I didn't notice it till I was looking at the receipt when walking back to my car. I had to go back in the restaurant and ask for the manager to reverse the charge. No Apologies were given, and I spent another 15 minutes getting that resolved. I normally have a good experience at this restaurant, but my wife and I always ask who the server will be. That wasn't really possible seating a large group. If you go there, just make sure you ask who the server will be. If they say Judith, just ask for someone else. read more

We ordered takeout here a few weeks ago on a Saturday for lunch. We ordered four usual 2 top sirloin steaks with sides: green beans, rice, & mashed potatoes with side salads. The portions here are always excellent: sides, salads, and steaks are good portions for the value. We tried to order online but it didn't work for the discount, so we had to order at the restaurant and it took a while. A bit inconvenient to save us money. Hopefully, they can give some better deals to those doing takeout since we are not going. read more

Food came out so quick- I've worked at places like Applebees so I'm 99% sure it came out of the microwave but I'm not gunna lie it tasted good. Had a VERY disappointing visit yesterday. Despite making a reservation at 4:30PM for 10 people, when we arrived our table wasn't ready at all. Restaurant was freezing (maybe 65 degrees) and felt like a cave it was so dark. Our server was VERY friendly and nice throughout despite making numerous errors in order entry. And the wrong food/drink were brought 3 times. But I am writing to let you know of VERY disappointing food quality experienced by everyone in our party. It is 100% clear that everything on the table is reheated frozen food with very minimal skill in prep. It all tasted like instant dinners. VERY disappointing for everyone involved. I've had airline food that was MUCH better in economy! I don't really know what to say, NOTHING was fresh, nothing tasted fresh, everything is so salty and processed. You are feeding American's garbage. WHY? You guys used to have good food, and now you are in a spiral decline. You will not survive if you serve crap like this. And when we left at 6:30 the restaurant was only about 40% full. That speaks for itself. Used to love applebees, will NEVER EVER go back. Pay for overpriced frozen garbage? NO WAY! A few days ago, I met my son at Applebees in La Habra for for lunch. We both had the Chinese Chicken salad with boneless wings appetizer. Our server Val was so nice. I think she might be the manager too. Our food was very good but it was her service that really made the dining experience!
