Applebee's 1057 Route 46 East Parsippany, NJ 07054 I was invited and accepted to go to Applebee's at 1057 Route 46 East in Parsippany, NJ Yes, ok, "Chain Restaurants" can be viewed or clumped-together as "chain restaurants" yeah, sure; i get it. Since some or most-all (???) chains could-be (???) / might be (???) INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND OPERATED and might not be "corporate owned" , I will focus-on, THE EXPERIENCE, rather-than, the 'name'/ 'Brand' or 'chain'. This particular EXPERIENCE, on this particular evening, at THIS specific Applebee's at 1057 Route 46 East in Parsippany, NJ, just 'caught my attention'. First, upon entry, surprisingly, we were quite-warmly-greeted, by a cordial, 'DEDICATED", "GREETER". After "THE GREETER" welcomed-us, AND THEN someone-else seated-us. THAT was quite a surprising pleasant difference and a warmly-received NICE FIRST IMPRESSION. The key difference i enjoyed from this Applebee's was the great, wonderful, attentive, warm, friendly SERVICE within a nice ambiance-atmosphere. Once seated, we got immediate personalized attention by a Table Server who showed up instantly upon being seated. (not the usual "welcome to blah blah...but, rather, nice, warm, friendly, GENUINE HI/ WELCOME/ THANKS FOR COMING/ etc. Our particular Table Server was extra-Pleasant, additionally Attentive, enjoyably-Efficient, charismatic, refreshingly-Competent, and, very-accommodating with ultra-Patience with us as we continually changed our minds and changed the ORDER. The food was enjoyably Tasty Food with enough different cuisines from an array of menu-selection-choices (within each cuisine) at decent prices. ALL-IN-ALL, the EXPERIENCE on this particular visit, at this particular Applebee's at 1057 Route 46 East in Parsippany, NJ was pleasantly different and enjoyable. we were glad we accepted the offer to join others who also-enjoyed this same group experience altogether. we left happy, satisfied, pleased... and definitely will plan to return whenever we are the Parsippany general area. read more

I was visiting New Jersey this weekend and decided to check out Applebee's last night for their late night happy. My two friends and I sat at the bar, and when I ordered a beer the bartender checked my ID (which is completely normal, I look pretty young). So I gave her my DC driver's license, and she said, sorry we can't accept this, it had to be a United States ID. So at first I thought she thought it was a foreign license so I said, oh it's a DC license, it is American. But then she explained that Applebee's only accepts licenses from one of the 50 U.S. States, or a U.S. Passport. I don't know if this was just her being ignorant, this Applebee's location, or all Applebee's in general, but Washington DC is the capital of the United States, so I don't know how much more American you can get. Well, needless to say, the bartender was extremely nice, and I really enjoyed my chocolate milkshake and nachos. Just don't venture to this Applebee's if you're from DC. read more

While this location is nice and clean the food is mediocre. The chicken wonton tacos are good but the baked potato soup is very salty. My son had the kids chicken tenders with broccoli- steamed broccoli was over cooked and mushy. They should be lightly steamed and crunchy. Come for the burgers, not much else. Meh! read more

Like the new menu. Came here for late night half price apps. The bone in wings are great. The little lunch trays they have them on are cute too. The Sriracha shrimp had a bit too much breading on it and it was sliding off. Steak quesasllas were great and had just the right amount of Pico in them. I like that the kitchen hours were til 1am. I don't recall the last time I went to applebees bc it had been so long, but I thought the kitchen closed earlier. The service was quick, we ordered on the tablets for the apps. First off I would like to preface by saying that I'm sure this restaurant employs decent hard working people who deserve to bring home a salary..however, I am sorry to say this has officially ranked as my least favorite eatery on the planet to date. This goes for every Applebees I have ever given the opportunity to prove me wrong, which unfortunately for me, was far too many. If you have been lucky enough to still avoid eating here, don't break your streak and head for the nearest Bonefish Grill or Cheesecake Factory! Seriously, the dinners at Applebees are equivalent to Smart Ones grocery store frozen dinners. They're not even as good as Stouffers or Swansons! I come here sometimes to kill an hour while I wait for daughter's class to be over. Bar tender is talented and consistent. Find the drinks to be of good proportions and consistent in quality. I am in the rocks kinda guy but when I did have mixed drinks, they were good. Plenty of room at the bar and love the abundance of TVs. If they would play European soccer on one at least without request - they will earn my 5 stars. The restaurant potion is always buzzing with people and they seem to consistently pack crowds regardless of the day if the week. Something to be said about that. Have you ever had a craving for something from a particular restaurant and just haven't had the time to get there to take care of it? I had been craving the quesadilla burger from Applebees for weeks, and my wife and I finally made it there for lunch a couple of weekends ago. There's just something about this burger that I really like. I'm pretty sure it's the Mexican-ranch sauce that makes it. We both ordered the same thing, except my wife ordered hers without the ranch sauce (she doesn't eat dairy...other than ice cream, cheese and number of other things). Anyway....she was very specific with the waitress and made sure the ranch dressing would not be on the burger. The waitress assured her it would not be explaining that the cooks could make the burger without the "Ranch" part of the Mexican-ranch sauce. When they arrived however, they looked exactly the same...both oozing with that magical Mexican-ranch sauce. My wife asked her again about the ranch and again was told it had been removed. We ate our burgers, my wife not really enjoying it because she believed the ranch really hadn't been removed and me not really enjoying it because she wasn't happy. Long story short, we come to this Applebees quite often and sometimes leave satisfied and other times not so much. If the waitress had just been up-front regarding the sauce, this could have gone in a much better direction. Still love that burger though. read more

So I thought I give this place a try for lunch and I was so disappointed! I had the half salad half sandwich. The chicken that was on the salad was still pink and super strong dressing! I order the strawberry lemonade quencher and it taste it like pine sol. Manager came by my table and apologize for the meal and offered to give me something else. We used to go to Applebee's as a family for their Buffalo wings. I'm from Buffalo and the wings at Applebee's were always excellent at a good price. After not having been to Applebee's in a while, we went tonight. I was very disappointed that they changed their recipe. The wings were terrible - breaded and loaded with salt. I visit this establishment frequently as I work in the area. The food is decent, but not outstanding... typical bar food. The service is OK, but I feel they can be a little more personable.... although when I sit at the bar, the bartenders are always friendly. I like all the big screen TVs that are positioned throughout the place as it is nice to catch a game while I have my lunch. read more

The food here is better than some of the other chains in the area. The drink menu is fairly extensive, with a few different types of margaritas and sangrias. For me, one of the main reasons to come here is that their kitchen is open late. It also doesn't hurt that they have half price appetizers after 9. read more

I noticed Applebee's has its servers jump through nonsensical hoops. For example, I walked in one night at around 8 pm. The place wasn't busy except for the bar. So why was I seated in the back in a small booth when literally any large, more spacious booth could do? Does each table need to meet a quota? Whatever. Lower tip. read more

Where do I start? Was greeted at the door, sat down at a bar table of our choosing and was waited on quickly. -Awesome right? It went down hill from then on. We were being indecisive of what to order and were intrigued by the new items on the menu(of course it was a "new" menu). Questioned how much meat came with the sirloin over spinach meal. We were informed that it came with 4oz of sirloin. To our surprise, the waitress informed us that for $3 you could add 4oz and for $5 you could add 7oz! My associate and I were exited about the affordable add-on price and we both added extra steak to our orders. (4oz and 7oz respectively). We also ordered spinach artichoke dip. The app came quickly and tasted good as always. After about 20 minutes we both received our steaks. Mine seemed like 8oz and my associate's seemed about 9oz(3 short) - what ever, it tasted good. We both devoured our meals in about 8 minutes. Yes, it tasted good and I enjoyed it. However....my glass of water was empty and was on the edge of the table after about 5 minutes of receiving it. So it was about an hour before she noticed it. After we finished eating it was another 20 before she asked if we needed anything.. YES A WATER ABOUT AN HOUR AGO.. she got us our waters and then took another 15 to give us the check. The steak add-ons were double the price we were originally told that they were. She apologized and said she'd lower it to what she had told us...she lowered it about 25%?! At this point I was frustrated, paid and left. 3 hours to eat, die of thirst, and get overcharged twice read more

I had a terrible experience in this Applebees location.I have been to different location and I never had this problem. At first our server took awhile to take our order and by the time the food arrived we don't have any plates or silverware.I was a bit upset but then when they serve my steak it was really burn and dry.I order my steak medium well but instead I got well done.We order this iced tea but tasted like water.I will never go there again. I have eaten here several times and the food is usually decent. There was one incident where I did get the worst ribs I've ever had-overcooked and hard as a rock, which is a bit disturbing for a place that is supposed to have decent ribs. But that was once - and my replacement meal was free and good. The service staff have always been friendly and attentive. Nothing special, but good for a bite. Applebee's is a corporate chain, so it's the same tasting food at every location. This Applebee's is good when it comes to food coming out quickly and accurately and their drinks are made spot-on too. My only pet-peeve is often times if you request a special cocktail as opposed to one of their fruity mixes, you may get an eye-roll from your server who has no idea what you're talking about. Call me crazy but I just think every bar should have a handy drink-book. For instance: if i ask for a "Snoopy", don't stare at me with a blank expression and say "we don't make that"... If you have a bar, you should be able to look it up in a cocktail-book or on diffordsguide.com I never argue, I just say 'okay' and move on because talking to a kid who only knows Applebee's drink menu is not worth the hassle. This location is very clean, but again, the service is what turns me away at times. These servers just seem way too young to care about anything but being on their phones and hanging out joking around with one another. Again, it's Applebee's. Their theme is "local neighborhood / high schools with a relaxed sports setting" so I never expect to be dazzled by the service anyway. read more

The restaurant itself was a very nice appearance and the servers were cheerful and did a phenomenal job. The food, however, took a long time to be served. I actually went through a whole glass of soda before my meal even came. As for the food, it was pretty good, I had the Double Crunch Shrimp, but it was very salty which really deterred the taste of the food. The price for the food is kind of high, but they have good deals like the 2 for $20. Overall, I might come here again one day, but it's definitely not my first choice. read more

My husband and I come to NJ to visit our kids and during our last visit about 3 weeks ago we decided to all go out to Applebee's to treat the kids to a good dinner. To start off with when we got there the short lady was not very nice when we asked to sit off to ourselves for privacy. She argued with us but finally sat us where we wanted to be seated. I told her take your time not a problem and the waitress walked by and said I will take my time thank you. My husband was like WTF seriously???? So we sat down and ordered $80's worth of food and the whole time was treated like trash. I did complain about the treatment but nothing was done about it. After eating we got the bill and my husband was trying to do the right thing and leave the waitress a tip. The girl she had training was very nice and did most of the waiting on us cause the other waitress did not want to be bothered. We put a $10.00 bill on the table and wanted to leave that as a tip. They did not like we were paying cash and wanted us to pay by a credit card on a computer thing on the tables. We refused so the waitress had to come to the table and take the money. So we got our change and she decided I guess that $10.00 was not enough of a tip and gave us back $20.00's in $1 bills. My husband said what is this? Like she expected us to leave her a bigger tip. I grabbed the $10 off the table and put it in my pocket and did not leave her a damn penny. That night my husband, myself and both my kids got sick from the food there. I was not pleasant. We will never eat here again even if they gave us free food and a $100 bill! Worst experience ever at an Applebee's. The food tasted funny but we do not eat at Applebee's a lot and usually go to Chili's which is much better food and service! Not to mention better in quantity of food and quality. So we figured it was the normal taste of the food. RUN LIKE HELL! Drive the extra miles to Chili's before stopping here!
