It was the slowest worst service I've maybe ever had. And the four "cheese" Mac n cheese was legit served with idk what it might've been gravy, but it definitely wasn't cheese. Came here for lunch on a Friday, it was deserted but the waitresses were arguing about which tables they were assigned to, not a good start. The waitress smelled like cigarettes and seemed to ignore us before eventually finding us a table in the empty restaurant. I understand that hiring is tough these days, so we stuck around and she turned out to be very attentive once we got started (refills, napkins, etc.) . We tried the loaded waffle fries and they were quite good, and the only reason this isn't a 1 star review. Later, while we were eating our entrees, the employees started yelling very loudly at each other, it seemed to be a table ownership issue or something. Then someone yelled SHUT UP! So loud! I've always loved "Applebee's Ambiance" and likely always will ! On this visit I met neighbors I had not yet met from my vibrant community plus the bonus of meeting someone from Seattle seated nearby. Service was excellent. I decided to eat here on this particular occasion because parking was easy and knowing full-well that I couldn't stomach reading any potential negative reviews provided by the Allegheny County Health Department past or present before ordering without potentially ruining my appetite, I said to myself, get deep fried fish and the hot grease will sear away (no real science in this) any bad germ-y results that might appear on this Applebees health regulations report. Note: I did not look at the report because I had to eat and didn't want to risk being grossed out and not eating at all. Again, I did not read and have not yet read the latest Allegheny County Health Report for this Applebees. That's up to you, the consumer, if it is important to you. Result...the fish and chips tasty enough...but the breading was grease-laden and after draining as much of the grease I could with stacks of napkins I ended up pulling the breading off to eat the very small portions of fish inside. I'm pretty hard to please these days. The coleslaw was excellent in my opinion. read more

Haven't been to an Applebee's for what seems like forever but I thought I recalled the chain had decent ribs. Maybe I'd still think that if not for the fact I very recently had ribs at TGIF. Such a world of difference and Friday's rule supreme by a landslide. While Friday's were moist, fall-off-the-bone delectable, and served wth a. extra side of sticky sweet red BBQ sauce, Applebee's were drier, had to gnaw meat off the bone, and no extra BBQ sauce provided. Plus service was lacking. Busy (a good thing business-wise) so had about a 10 minute wait. No big deal. The menus are paperless; you scan a QR code for the digital menu. That's a plus health-safety wise. After that, service slid downwards. Had to ask a different server fir extra napkins. Why wouldn't a server just start by providing extras when someone orders ribs? My server wasn't very attentive and I was never offered a refill on my soft drink nor was she ever present to ask for one. At the end you pay electronically with a digital machine that sits the whole time on your table (though I was offered the opportunity to order directly from my server instead) .but, there are no instructions provided, no indictator the machine is ready to accept your payment, even. My server did come by to show me and I did end up paying via the machine. A bonus? A survey to let them know these same thoughts posted here. I still did leave a healthy tip. That is just par for the course COVID-19 era being what it is. Figure servers deserve a lot for being on the front line regardless of anything else. read more

Arrived around 8:45 on a Tuesday. Not busy at all. I watched the waitress sanitize the tables and seats. We ordered Spinach and Artichoke dip which the chips were very salty. The waitress then confirmed that these are not the original chips that comes with the dip, that they ran out of the original chips and had to buy these from the local grocery store. I'm sorry I don't have a better picture of the Strawberry chicken salad as I started chowing in before I took the pic, lol. Salad was tasty, the dressing was a little citrusy(if that's a word). Overall it was good. We also ordered the Double Crunch bone in garlic parm wings. This was the best item we had. Wings were cooked perfect. Nice and crispy but not over cooked. The only reason I found myself getting Applebee's is because my parents got me a gift card for Valentines Day. As expected, the prices were quite affordable for food so my girlfriend and I were able to eat a full dinner with an extra side using a coupon we found online. We ordered our food online for Carside-To-go since it was convenient for us for the evening. Although they said the order would be ready when we arrived, we still had to wait quite some time before receiving our order. I had the bourbon street chicken and shrimp which came with mushrooms and potatoes. It was found it surprisingly delicious and fulfilling. Me and my best friend went to this Apple Bees. Their service is kind of bad. It took a little over 30 mins just to get my drink. So by the time I got it, it was melted. We were not given straws and had to ask the manager for some straws which he then informed us our food was almost done. We waited almost 1 hour after that for our food. Before we even got our food the waitress brought our check so we were a little confused. Finally when our food was brought out it was reheated which meant it sat all that time. The food was amazing, after we left the next day both my best friend and I woke up with the most nastiest cough. Worst Applebee's experience I've had. We were seated and then waited 10 minutes to even be greeted. And then it was only because we flagged someone down. No apologies when we were finally taken care of. I needed to ask for water three times before I finally went up to the bar to ask for some. It was then that our server came over with water. We ordered soup and entrees. He delivered one soup and an appetizer claiming that was what we ordered and there was no way he misheard. About five minutes later a manager came over and said something to the lines of "I understand that you've had some issues" I then proceeded to very calmly explain what our issues had been. You could tell he wasn't very interested in what we had to say and didn't seem to care that his server had issues. His lack of caring was apparent in the fact that while we were waiting to be greeted and during one of the many asks for water, there were several servers and the manager standing behind the bar shooting the breeze. The food (once the order was right) was good, but the wait and the mistakes make it highly unlikely we will never return to this location. read more

My first visit to the chain in years. Not exactly fine dining but this was open until midnight on weekdays. I had roast beef sliders and a bowl of French onion soup. The sandwich buns were mushy otherwise everything was fairly good. Service was very good. Meal clocked in around $15 with tip which I think is 3 or 4 too high. They split half of our table and gave the other half of our table a different waitress. That group received all of their appetizers and food before we received napkins, silverware or any of our orders on our end. Our waitress spent a long time trying to figure out the POS machine we sat there from 730 to about almost 9 and food finally started to come. One guest never was asked for his order after receiving his drink and guests never received their salads. I rarely give 1 star reviews or review chains like Applebee's, however my latest visit was terrible. Applebee's is close to my house so it tends to be my go to late night spot for some half price apps. The staff consists of tweakers & a manager who blatantly belittles & disrespects her staff in front of customers. We sat down at the bar to order some food & drinks. We sat directly in front of the manager who was making drinks and she completely ignored us-I thought if anyone should speak, it would be the manager. It took about 15 minutes to get a drink and another 20 to get the bartender back to order food. It took about 45 minutes to get the 10 boneless wings we ordered which were on special for $.25 each with $.25 dressings on the side. When the food finally came out, the plate looked scarce. We questioned the bartender if there was 10 on the plate, she said yes. We counted, only 8. Also noticed we were charged $.50 for the dressings we ordered. I said, excuse me to the manager & she said "what's up?"....pretty unprofessional from start. I explained we ordered 10 wings and were only giving 8, wanted the dressings on our receipt to be changed, and 10 fresh wings not just two more added to the plate. Thea, the manager, SCOFFED in my face and rolled her eyes. There was no apology or anything from her. This manager is really an issue and I hope they see this review and do something about it. read more

At one point of time we frequented their Carside to Go so much that we didn't have Tupperware we had Applebee's containers. The staff here are friendly and accommodating and this is the perfect spot to watch the game or go to happy hour. I mean it's Applebee's, but as far as chain places go it's the best in my opinion. The happy hour specials are awesome ($3.50 20oz liquor drinks, can't beat that) and half off apps. Four bucks for a huge thing of spinach and artichoke dip is great. The blue agave frozen margarita is delicious, as is their long island. The two for 20 deal is great, I had the quesadilla burger which was quite nice. Get the flavors of Mexican food in a burger and with tortilla for bun you don't have all the extra bread to bog you down. Oh, American fast food chains. How large your portions. How nostalgic you are. We were the proud owners of a gift card to Applebee's (Christmas gift!) and the best part of this gift was my boyfriend's reaction to me later. He has never been to an Applebee's. Or an Olive Garden. Or a Chili's. His first time at a Red Lobster was with me when we were stuck in a strip mall hell for the night. So he's new to these restaurants, which so many of us grew up with. I'd only been to an Applebee's a handful of times, but I was down to go back - it seems like they sort of have everything, no matter what you're hungry for. Since we're spending all our time now packing to move back to Chicago (WOOHOO!), we don't always have time to make dinner. So we busted out the Applebee's gift card and journeyed to Edgewood Towne Center for some chain restaurant foods. When we arrived, this server really awkwardly asked us to sit at the bar. I missed the finer points of the interaction, since he was talking to my boyfriend, but he basically insinuated that he'd just sat some large tables, or something, and it was his turn to have a table in his section but he didn't have the time to serve us, or something, and he didn't want us to wait (for what, I'm not sure) so he was basically like "Can you sit at the bar?" Which was weird because there were like, at least a dozen open tables. But whatevs. The cool kids sit at the bar, and we are the cool kids. Chuck, the bartender, was running this show. Dude. He was on top of everything. Taking orders, serving drinks, answering phones, getting takeout orders, keeping his bar neat and tidy - he was HOPPING! We were both in awe just watching him. That man is earning his tips, for reals. So I'd recommend sitting at the bar if Chuck is working. He's also cute, so bonus there. The Applebee's bar is kind of a hilarious place - random people having drinks as if it's a real bar and not a restaurant, this one lady READING A BOOK WITH A GLASS OF WINE like it was some fancy cafe, some annoying fratty people....and us. A healthy mix. I had a Shock Top and my boyfriend had a Sam Adams - mad props for Shock Top on draft, not expecting that from Applebee's. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip, which I believe was half price (as are all apps) during happy hour. It was served with regular tortilla chips (like from a bag) but the dip itself was pretty tasty. It was served in a really wide but shallow crock, and tasted appropriately spinachy and cheesy. It was served very hot and was pretty satisfying! My side salad arrived shortly thereafter, and it was amusingly huge for a side. Iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, crispy croutons, shredded cheese, tangy bottled Italian dressing on the side. I bought it to balance out my entree, but somehow these iceberg lettuce salads never really feel healthy, you know? Like eating crispy water. With cheese and croutons. YAY HEALTH! Then came the entrees - I got an order of wings (which I think is technically listed as an appetizer) with "Sweet and Spicy Sauce" which was listed as the second-hottest sauce on the menu. They were pretty decent - served hot, juicy chicken, and the sauce was sweet and sticky. It was a little *too* sweet for me - picture gloopy Chinese takeout in sweet sticky sauce, and that's what the wing sauce was like - but it still made a satisfying meal. My boyfriend got one of their "special burgers" from their new New Orleans menu -something like a Bourbon Bacon burger. They asked him "pink or no pink" which we thought was funny. He said "pink," and the burger came out with like, a tiny touch of maybe-pink in the middle. Medium-rare, this ain't! He said it was okay. Not great. Just a burger. I didn't taste it, I just nibble on a few of his fries, which were pretty average. That all came in at around $30, aided greatly by the happy hour appetizer discount. I have no interest in going to Applebee's again because I can get better burgers, pasta, chicken, bar food, everything, etc anywhere else, but if I was road tripping and needed a place to stop, this wouldn't be a bad choice. I have been a huge fan of Applebee's for years, but more specifically clarion Applebee's. I was afraid to go to others as I've not always had the best customer service. I went last night for my birthday dinner with my family and I was super impressed. There was 12 of us and our waitress was so amazing and quick. The establishment adjusted super fast to us coming in. She was on top of everything and very thorough with all of us. I will 100% be back especially if we have the same waitress. I had initially attempted to get in at Cheesecake Factory who refused to make a reservation for our party and told us to take our chance coming in, which was a 3 hour weight. First off, I like family restaurants and avoid chains when possible. Sometimes that's not possible - in the future I'll avoid this one no matter what. Its always a zoo, the servers are not interested in what they are doing, and do it poorly. Food comes out of order or not at all. The managers don't care. We actually had a waitress spill the soup, catch most of it in her hand, and dump it back in right in front of us. Then she gave it to us before thinking to ask if we wanted another. My fiancé and I just ate there today and not only were all our apps (the late night special is awesome) absolutely delicious, but the service was perfect! The host (Raymond) who greeted us was friendly and funny. Our server Diane was so kind, sweet and seemed to sincerely care about making sure we had a good dining experience. Even the management (who's name I was unfortunately unable to catch) was present and checked on us repeatedly to ensure our meals were good and what we wanted. I'm continually perplexed as I drive by the Applebee's in Edgewood Towne Center. The parking lot is always packed no matter what day of the week it is. Maybe it's the location- maybe it's the food or service; I'm just not sure why a chain restaurant has so much business every day of the week. Applebee's is similar to Friday's in many ways- the servers are adorned with matching uniforms, trendy hats, and sometimes buttons to match. The walls are covered with movie and television memorabilia, and there are colored lamps above the tables that add a homey feeling to the atmosphere. It's a kid-friendly atmosphere, evident by the baskets or crayons, and connect-the-dot placemats at the hostess station as you enter. When we arrived during the weekday at 6pm, most of the tables were taken, but we lucked out, and got a booth by a window. I was meeting my Mom and sister for dinner, and since this was the closest restaurant we decided to give it a try. Our waitress arrived immediately after we were seated and took our drink orders. No booze for me- tomorrow was a work day. My sister got a margarita, and my Mom had lemonade. From the look on my sister's face, the drink was packing plenty of tequila. My Mom and sister ordered to share a cheeseburger ($7.99), and I got the Crispy Orange Chicken ($10.99). I always have some greens before my meal, so I also ordered the house salad with bleu cheese. My salad arrived first; the lettuce was fresh, and it was topped with cheese, tomatoes and carrots- the blue cheese dressing was tasty. The burger was next, and arrived with an extra plate for sharing. It was ordered medium rare, and was cooked to the correct temperature. My Crispy Orange Chicken was fried golden-brown, and the orange dipping was a good accompaniment. If you're looking to save money, Applebee's is running a two for $20.00 special right now. That includes an appetizer (to share) two (2) entrees from the allotted menu choices, and a dessert- that's really not a bad deal, and considering the current economic climate, could explain all of the cars in the parking lot. If you're watching your diet, there's also a section with offerings under 550 calories. Applebee's isn't a fancy restaurant by any means. Some of the food is pre-prepared, and not all of the dressings are homemade. Navigating through space on this giant rocked so surely named Terra I find myself utterly confused and nearly constantly hungry. Upon my many travels I have found myself being forced to eat food other bipedal carbonoids have made for me. This place was full of many such creatures. All of those employed by this Earth station were genuinely nice and more than willing to service any such needs as long as they were confined to the ramifications of their rule book or "menu." Where I am from we do not eat mammals, fish, or anything that may have been ripped from their bodies no matter how willing they may have seemed. I order a plain baked potato, steamed broccoli, potatoes fried in the french style and a plain vegetable style burger. I asked if our human service representative would bring them out one at a time in alphabetical order(as is the custom where I am from) and they kindly obliged. All of the food tasted exactly as I remembered learning they would taste. Our human representative checked in on us intermittently while servicing other tables full of flesh bags. They visited our table a total of 9 times which I found to be nearly perfect. The only problem I encountered was with the other "humans" that were visiting this station in search of food. They seemed mostly ruder and totally unkempt. For this I felt what you would call empathy for our service person. Surely they deserve to be treated better during their short time on this space sphere. Perhaps Applebee's should consider giving their future station visitors an I.Q. test before allowing them to enter the establishment. read more
