I went to Applebees cause I like the oriental salad. it came out with chicken cold and on bad lettuce. sent it back and chicken was warm but still old discolored salad. the wait time was extreme. the waiter was great but kitchen food not. it just insults me to get the same salad twice the same way except for warm chicken. ordered what waiter suggested, it was good but we were there for 2 hrs. I guess kitchen help got upset over me returning the salad, twice, but honestly it insulted me to get the salad in the same condition, like I would eat that. I feed tha t kind of lettuce to my chickens. no more Applebees for me in rock hill . By the way that was wed. 25, around 2:00. My boyfriend and I went to Applebee's Rock Hill Sc today we ordered steaks and an app. The wings were hard and old .my boyfriend ordered a steak med well mine was supposed to be med ..they both were well done ,dry,and awful. Nats were everywhere the C.O machine was broke and we couldn't get a soda just overall horrible experience. One of the worst apple bees to go to. I had to wait over 30 mins for my smoothie and when i finally get my smoothie it had chucks of ice in it so i sent it back to get blended more. When i ordered my food i let the waiter know i wanted no mushrooms with my food and it still came with mushrooms which was fine bc i just sent it back to be made again but instead of remaking my food they just gave me the same food just took the mushrooms off and brought it back 5 minutes later. I still saw small pieces of mushrooms on my plate so i got upset since i had been waiting over an hour all together and was the last to get my food at the table. Horrible customer service also. Stopped in last night with two others got seated very quickly which was nice. Our waitress seemed very eager to give us more time even before we said if we needed it or not which I don't guess Is bad. On the the food part, I had bourbon street chicken and shrimp. This was just wow is all I can say. I get a very wimpy bonless chicken breast and a few small shrimp. The garlic mashed taters were pretty good but had some serious garlic which wasn't too bad. My lady got chicken Alfredo which was pretty good. The mozzarella sticks which came with our combo was amazing. Her mother had the bonesless wings and fries both was good. The price on my bill didn't seem in line with the amount of food we got. For a 55$ bill you shouldn't leave a place still hungry. read more

Good food, bad experience.. To start off, they did not have a hostess when we came in, so we waited 5-10 minutes before being helped. The server finally started clearing off a table and while she was doing that we had 5 more employees come up to us and ask how many and if we've been helped. So no communication between employees. We sat down after another 5-10 minutes later. Once seated it took a good 10 minutes to get our waters out. We ordered apps and they forgot to bring one out so we waited for one. But the worst part was probably the waitress who handed us all of our waters by grabbing them from the top and putting her fingers all over the rims of our glasses. That's a huge no-go in the restaurant business. Food was good and the drinks were good too. But the confusion and unprofessionalism could not go unnoticed. Oh this is a sad place. I'm not sure how they can continue to operate under the Applebees name. This was my second visit to the restaurant as I was staying a local hotel on business. I walked in and sat at the bar and the bartender immediately told me how much he hated working there and living in the area. I ordered a drink and food while listening to the bartender and server talk about how much they hated the place and how horrible the manager was. Another customer came in to order food "to go" and have a drink. The bartender complained about having to take his order and go back and cook the food. When I got my food, it looked and tasted okay (but never like the pictures, right?). The bartender asked how it was, which I replied it was "okay" and he said "good, because that usually looks and tastes nasty".. Wow! I won't be back to this location. I paid $18 for a steak with potatoes and veggies. Grilled veggies were an upcharge and they look terrible. They aren't even fully cooked. My steak was severely overcooked! My husband and I stopped here after checking into a hotel following a ten hour drive. We were tired and it was after 8 pm. We've eaten here before pre-pandemic. I saw the low scores on Yelp but decided to try it over other nearby restaurants. There were few cars in the lot which gave me pause. When we entered, there was no one in the neighborhood bar section. This also gave me pause. We were greeted by a friendly young man who seated us promptly. Our server, Miracle, arrived promptly and asked for our drink orders. She came back quickly for our food orders. If it weren't for these two employees I've mentioned, the rating would be lower. I realize restaurants are struggling now to stay staffed and running. But if the quality of the food isn't at least average, stellar employees can't save them. After a long day in the car I was ready for a glass of white wine. Even though they listed four wines, they had none of them. But they did have a sole red wine not listed. I passed on the wine. We were told they'd been out for weeks. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and the strawberry chicken salad topped with grilled chicken. My husband ordered the Bourbon Street steak. The chicken in the soup tasted/looked like it was leftover from other dishes and cut up into the soup, had gristly chunks in it, and the crock wasn't full but was loaded with tortilla strips on the top to fill it up and perhaps hot sauce added. It seemed like they scooped out the last of a pot. The grilled chicken on my salad looked really good, but when I bit into it, I was surprised to find it was ice cold. Cold "grilled" chicken? The lettuce was wilted, bruised and had brown spots. The strawberries were fine. My husband received two six ounce steaks because they were out of eight ounce steaks. That was a bonus. He said they were cooked as he ordered: medium rare. I took a bite but it did not taste as I remembered. It was my Dad's favorite dish he would always order. It was also swimming in greasy garlic butter or oil. Overall, we were highly disappointed with the food but pleased with the servers. They had a large group come in and were honest and told them it would be a 45-69 minute wait because there were only two servers. The group left. I saw an employee showing a new or prospective employee around. I told my husband that with as few customers as there were, the manager should have been checking with the tables and their experience. Very rarely do I find myself at a chain restaurant but every so often I make my way there. And since the food can vary at each chain location (i.e. too much sauce or something of the sort), I figure all in all, it's best to Yelp about each. Anyway... on to the Yelping... I've never been a huge fan of Applebee's but found myself here meeting a friend. We decide to split a spinach dip for an app. Once the dish came out, I was wondering where the rest of our spinach dip went to. The dip itself was hot and creamy but too bad the chips were covered in way too much salt - which is great if you are a deer but I happen to be a human quite close to summer and don't care to retain the water from all the sodium. Anywho, after a bit he ordered the quesadilla burger. As always, I steal a bite. The burger was cooked a perfect medium and was juicy. However, once again just simply too much salt. I decided to partake in the four-cheese grilled cheese and a side of French onion soup. The sandwich wasn't anything to write home about and if that was four cheeses, they probably should have added a fifth as it was a little skimpy. The bread, however, was toasted quite nicely and had a perfect crunch to it. The soup gets a B rating as there was plenty of mozzarella and did the dish justice but could have used a bit more flavor. Any Applebee's I've ever ate at has always been sub par so suppose I should never set my expectations to high here... which is why I rarely dine here. But for me, any eatery is about more than just the food. The atmosphere is also key (and this location is dying for an upgrade) as well as good service. Doesn't matter how good your dishes may be - if your service sucks, I'm blowing this popsicle stand. Can't speak for the servers themselves as I always post up at the bar. Billy is a top notch bartender and deserves your tip - sit at the bar if he's there. And what really saves this location and gives it 3 stars is the drink menu. I appreciate variety and enjoy a cheap, run-of-the-mill margarita every now and again... and again... and again (tequila + Nikki = BFF). The prices are fair and offer up a good selection that should please just about any John or Jane that walks in the place. On this stop, I chose to offer my tongue a SkinnyBee Margarita - skinny drinks have a tendency to lack in taste (well you gotta take something out to make em skinny) but was surprised at the crisp, fresh taste and would get blitzed on those almost any day. read more

Needs a new manager! This place is being managed so poorly I have never seen such a thing. They have one server the night we went... one for an entire restaurant. It wasn't crowded but they were unable to make drinks for the most part. They had ran out of stuff to make Bahama mama, and margaritas. They could only make super basic stuff like vodka and orange juice. What kind of bar doesn't have liquor?? Who's job is it to maintain stock of supplies? This is by far the most Incompetent Applebee's I have ever been to. We have used the to go service and why even bother if you can't get an order right. First time they left out half my meal and dessert ordered. ( my husband picked it up and was assured everything was there). When I called I was hung up on the first time then after having to call back was asked "well what do you want me to do about it" and this was out of the mouth of the manager. How about your job, maybe get the order right the first time. I gave them another chance this past weekend and yet again they left out parts of the order luckily it was caught before driving all the way home especially since they are completely clueless. The hostess may or may not ignore you. Your waitress may or may not check in with you from time to time. Your water glass definitely won't stay full. The food is so hit or miss it's ridiculous...and they'll take something that seems fresh and pair it with something that looks canned. This isn't just the Dave Lyle Applebees, it's every one I've had the misfortune of being invited to by someone else. I have to admit, the ambiance of the crying baby and the guy next to us thinking he was a pimp for taking his lady to such a fine dining establishment as Applebees was beyond amusing.
