Wow! Second time here since relocating back to Rock Hill after a 15 year absence. We've been nothing but impressed with the food, drinks and cleanliness of this restaurant. The staff has been overwhelmingly positive and kind...just can't say enough good things. Live pretty close so we will be regulars moving forward! We stopped here on a recommendation. Our server (Tyler I think?) was great! Friendly, recommended items and very attentive. Food was good! I had the hickory burger (didn't realize it was a double patty!) and my husband had the reuben sandwich. First time to this location. I wanted to watch the Packers vs Viking. Party of one so I sat at the bar. The staffs were all accommodating and attentive. As far as the food. I ordered 6 wings garlic Parmesan and roasted Brussels sprouts with balsamic and bacon. The wings didn't have garlic at all and very little Parmesan. So I would give it a 3/5. Same with the Brussels. I finally got my food and got up to pay and they threw all my food away. I started crying and a guy who worked there said, "our servers get a bad rep.", and then said, " never mind". Went in for dinner last night and ordered lemon pepper wings as an appetizer. I had to ask my server if he forgot to say LEMON PEPPER because the wings tasted plain and void of any LEMON or PEPPER! Despite informing staff of my severe egg allergy, my blackened chicken tacos and tavern chips were contaminated with ranch dressing, while they took the time to "remake" it an allergic reaction still occurred. I had a late meeting, that didn't include food ; therefore I was on the hunt. Kudos to Hickory Tavern for being open until 11pm. Hobos, Tavern on Tracks, etc all close at 10pm. I could have walked in those places at 9:44 and ordered but I wouldn't appreciate it so I don't do it. Shannon, the bartender, suggested a great Cabernet not the most expensive to increase her tip. Shannon helped me select the fish and chips (actual house made chips & ranch) and it was spot on! Either I was hungry or it was quite appetizing! Sorry no photo but I'm sure the 9oz pour and the freshly made fish were reorder-worthy. & order your rolls and 1st cause trying to order them at 11pm was a negative. If I were working kitchen would be closed as well. read more

We ordered food to go- showed up at the pickup time just to wait 5-10 more minutes because it wasn't ready. Respectfully, this was the worst meal. Fries were cold and tasted like they were just thrown in the microwave. Burgers were soggy and toppings were scarce- even though we paid for extra. I didn't have trouble parking, but it was around 12:30 on a Wednesday and the lot and nearby street parking were both pretty full, so I could see it being tighter during busier times. I also noticed this location used to be called Sweet Tea back around 2020 when they served chicken and waffles, so it was interesting to see how the space has changed. The menu overall isn't very large, and since I mainly came for the cheesesteak and it didn't meet my expectations, I don't see myself returning. Yet, lo and behold, on this fateful day, they tempted us with an irresistible offer of 75 cent chicken wings! Alas, I wrestled with the dilemma of choosing a healthier option, but the allure of such a deal was too mighty to resist. Alas, misfortune struck! The wings were overcooked, tough, and devoid of flavor, akin to the fiery breath of a dragon without its might! We sampled the medium, red dragon, and dry rub, but alas, they danced in a monotonous harmony of blandness, causing unanimous dismay amongst our fellowship. Verily, those wings were the foulest to cross my palate in ages. It is a riddle unsolved, for the food here usually pleases. Thankfully, my wife's chicken sandwich brought solace to the realm of her taste buds. A saving grace amidst the winged misfortune. However, let me share yet another grievance that plagues this tavern of hickory. Their craft beer list, bereft of novelty, lacked the adventurous spirit I sought. Just keeps getting worse every time I give it a try. Food quality down. Service is either obnoxious or poor. Managers attack you with this supposed customer service or servers look unhappy. I e said it before, not everyone wants a manager to come to your table. I don't need you unless I ask for you. If I need a refill don't yell at my server, just get it. The manager with the rainbow hair is ridiculous. What an embarrassment to reflex your company. I'm done with Hickory Tavern. I used to buy my staff gift cards to get the holiday deal but no more. I'm contacting them about getting my money back. I use gift cards as incentives and the Hickory Tavern ones are collecting dust. I ordered the honey glazed salmon with a side of Mac and cheese and Spanish rice. I ended up getting a call from the restaurant who informed me that they were out of Spanish rice so I opted for plain white rice. About 25 minutes later my food was dropped off. I opened the container and for the price I paid, the portion size was small. I could also see that the rice was not fresh and had a clump of hardness. I just pushed that aside and the meal was fine. The food is good but expensive!

We ordered the smoked wings and the fried Texas Pete pickles (should include more per order), and everything was fresh, organized, and exactly what we were hoping for. Service was smooth, and the whole place had a great atmosphere. The happy hour drink prices are hard to beat, and whoever designed the parking lot deserves some credit...there's plenty of parking, which makes getting in and out so easy. We'll definitely be back.

The parking lot is massive, and I was told another restaurant, South Bound, will eventually open next door. For now, though, it's all about Mac's Speed Shop. Arriving on a Thursday around 5:00 p.m., I was surprised to hear the wait was already 45 minutes to an hour. One hostess initially told me it would only be about two minutes before we were seated, but another hostess quickly corrected that to a 45-minute wait. A little annoyed by the mixed information, we decided to grab two seats at the bar instead. That turned out to be the best decision because our bartender, Dana, was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations throughout the meal. I ordered my usual--the half rack of baby back ribs with fried okra. As expected with a brand-new location, they're still working through a few growing pains. The food wasn't quite as well seasoned as the Steele Creek location, but it was still very enjoyable. To finish the evening, Dana convinced us to try dessert, and I'm glad she did. We ordered the fried apple pie egg rolls topped with vanilla ice cream, and they were absolutely delicious. The Steele Creek Mac's Speed Shop is still my favorite location, but having this one much closer to home is definitely a welcome addition. I'll happily be back.

So when this location opened we waited a little bit for the dust to settle before we went. We ordered our typical pizza (2 Brothers) was very good and the service was excellent. This location is a fraction of the size of their other locations so during tournaments across the street there will likely be a wait to get in.
