I was shocked to see this had a 2 star rating. I haven't been to an Applebee's in 3 years, it did not live up to my expectations. The chicken tender salad on a bed of mixed greens was about 98% pale iceberg, I literally found 4 tiny pieces of green romaine. Also the shredded cheese was very spare. The breadstick was great. The impossible burger was smaller than the ones at the grocery store which seemed odd. The happy hour is crazy affordable. Go here for happy hour, for sure! read more

What happened to Applebee's? The food used to be good. I had the shrimp special. The shrimp and the fries were hot and fresh. Too greasy and not very tasty. The ketchup tasted odd It didn't taste like any Heinz ketchup that I ever had. The cocktail sauce was also not good. My server was new, he tried. Just probably lacked training. We were greeted and seated upon entry! Our server came over shortly after and introduced herself. Normal neighborhood bar and grill vibes. We ordered an appetizer: 2 orders of Chicken Wonton Taco's and boneless wings. We also ordered the O-M- Cheeseburger because it looked so good on the ad's. The food didn't take very long. Went here twice a year apart and the service still has not changed one bit. This time my family and I waited 35 minutes without being served once before we just got up and left. Mind you it wasn't even busy. No one came to our table to even ask us about drinks or anything. We sat there for over half an hour and got no service while workers were standing around chatting and on their phones. This happened a year ago as well but we had stuck it out and asked for someone. The food was mid back then. This time we left and went to Texas Roadhouse. Its cheaper and the service there is on point. Don't waste your time and money here at this location. Went there tonight to try the O-M Cheeseburger. Looked so good on tv. Took awhile for our server. She apologized. Ordered a double Tito's and cranberry, which I usually don't do but not sure how long it was going to take for another. What a waste of money. Anyways we ordered the pretzels for an app. The came out burnt. Someone from the kitchen said if they remade them, they would be the same. Said it could have been "the lighting." What?? Anyways the boneless wings were overcooked. Couldn't even stiff a fork in them. Burgers came out with burnt buns and burnt meat. We were there almost an hour. At that point we gave up. " Abbey" was our waitress and "Lenard" was the Reservationist/Greeter Reservationist : How many people tonight? Guest(s): 3 Leonard: It will be a 45 minute wait. We decided to wait because by that time we could determine if Applebee's was the right atmosphere for our granddaughter (autism). In addition, it was late and we felt that the food would be good. We only waited around 20 to 25 minutes (again we were patient). Once Abbey seated us, the atmosphere changed dramatically. Abby escorts us to the table - (thinking this might be a good seat- it's quiet in here and not crowded- GREAT! ). After seeing our placement we asked - "can we move to the adjacent table? Because our granddaughter is Autistic. (Abbey goes, away to ask Lenard). Abbey: No Guests: why: Abbey: You will have to wait an additional 45 minutes "we"agreed because we had already been waiting approximately 30 minutes and were hungry). Once observing the seating, we asked-Can we move one table over ? either way it would be the same number of seating/arrangement Abby: No, because we have a party waiting to be seated there and it can't be moved- the seating cannot be changed. Guest: okay! (Lenard enters the room) Guests: ( speaking to Lenard) Can we have a booster seat for our granddaughter? Lenard: No! As Abby explained to you - you cannot change seats! Guests: we are not asking to change seats we said "booster chair" Lenard! Oh! I thought you were asking to change seats Guest: No, just a booster seat Lenard: brings a booster seat Guests: Thank you ( Abbey returns and we order food). Once entrees arrive we asked if can we have some plates and napkins ? Abbey:Yes (Abby goes away and returns and said " I thought she gave you plates") Guests: no Abbey " is there anything else yall need? Guest: can you refill our drinks ( we only received one refill but wanted more. Once the entree's arrived we noticed missing condiments. The food did not look close to what was on the menu. My dish was bland. The alfredo sauce was then and tasteless. The service was super slow. After 15 minutes I had to ask who was our server. It took 60 minutes for us to get our food. We ordered appetizers as part of our meals and said it was our meal. The appetizers came first and our food arrived 25 minutes later, lukewarm. Awful. We ordered and 10 minutes later the server came back to tell us that they were out of the chicken for the chicken sandwich we ordered. My boyfriend ordered something else but they went ahead and brought out my French dip. Server forgot the fries and finally came back with a plate of cold/old fries. He told us that the hamburger would be out in a minute. 15 minutes later I had finished my mediocre French dip and then the hamburger showed up. At least those fries were hot. Aesthetically: the parking lot had trash all over it and both of our sets of silverware were dirty. The staff and management hang out at a table in the bar area. This looks unprofessional. We ate at the Applebees in St Petersburg, Florida for years and really liked it. The manager on duty always walked around to the different tables and checked in. They dropped the ball. The kitchen was overwhelmed in a restaurant that was only at 30%. I was told I may have a 45 minute wait for food but they seated me immediately. I got my order within 10 minutes but it was bad. The ribs had no sauce and were rough and chewy, the potatoes were ice cold- ice cold as in the little scoop was in the fridge and on to the plate and someone forgot to put it in the microwave. The waitress was kind enough to take it off my check. I get that help is hard to find for what ever reason but now is the time to start training local culinary grads or ??? I have been here a few times with my friend Mr. Bill and I got an Impossible Burger and it was very good and it has a good ambiance but their speakers are just too loud. I have complained in the past about it but they say that they are a Franchise and they have to have the music loud like that. I wouldn't come and put up with it but my friend Bill likes it here. The service was super slow. They had a bartender, and one other server working along with the manager. Our chips were so stale you could not bite into them, the second batch tasted and smelled like old oil. The lime chicken with rice was cold and also had a funky taste. The new chicken and cheese was the only meal that was eaten. As was the brownie desert. The server was very polite and friendly, just way overwhelmed. I asked her where her manager was. She indicated that was him heading to our table with our two sandwiches. I walked up right about the time he was putting the food on the table and told him we had been waiting 1/2,hour now. His first excuse was APPLEBEES ran out of plates. I looked at him crazy because there was less than 100 patrons in the entire restaurant. I told him that couldn't be true because the people behind him was just served. He said yes! They got the last of our clean dishes. BS!!! I told him that is why Applebees only had a 2.5 raiting on YELP. They were slow and the service stinks. The manager stated, I don't even read Yelp. The manager started rambling about crediting our bill. Etc. Etc. After the manager brought fresh tea, condiments, etc. he promised he would check in with us soon. Tasted like those bagged chicken pieces for a salad. Not fresh at all. Plus the whole restaurant needed to be cleaned. This was a horrible first visit to this location. First, I walked in the specified area to pick things up and was given no direction by the many staff walking around. I placed a takeout order and my order wasn't ready until over 16 minutes after the stated ready time. Once I received my food it was lukewarm and did not contain anything I asked for on my burger. There were no tomatoes, no pickles and no onions. I had to ask for the proper amount of condiments for each order. She returned with those right away. Once we paid for it we had to wait another 7 minutes just to get change. Although the food was palatable it wasn't warm and that shouldn't have been the case. Out of the ten or so times I've visited, I've been sitting at the table waiting for a little over twenty minutes before a waiter or waitress even acknowledges and puts in a drink order. When you do manage to get a drink order again, and you haven't already left twenty more minutes later, they disappear in the back and forget about you even if there is only two other people in the restaurant. One out of fives times the service will be the polar opposite. Visit at your own risk of time. The lady who works at the bar is constantly amazing if you get seated near her. read more

We had a really good experience here over the weekend. We we're seated and the hostess actually took our drink orders and delivered them to us. Our waitress was very kind, repeated our order and was attentive. Bethany (a manager I'm guessing) checked on us twice to make sure our food came out perfect, and then to check on our dessert, she was very nice and on top of it. Our food was awesome! My burger was cooked perfectly, as well as my fiance's steak. Ive been to this location before and was sceptical about coming back, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was here on a Thursday around 1 pm and I was sat at a table but the bartender was my waitress and she was so funny and made my lunch by myself enjoyable. I enjoy very much the economical cost and the friendly atmosphere whenever I stop at an Applebees for my hunger needs. Driving into the parking lot of this location, I was surprised to see a plea for more workers on their sign. Walking in we encountered the problem first hand. Empty tables yet no one to seat us on arrival. Got a friendly welcome and we will be with you soon at least. About 10 minutes and we get seated and the drink order taken as well as our appetizer. Our waitress introduced herself and then left. Soon we got to order and everything went pretty good feom there. Our plates took only a couple minutes longer than usual to get to us, but everything was fresh and hot. Although there was a shortage of help, this location fulfilled its obligation and we left full and happy. The shortage of help which is a pandemic all around and most likely due to businesses working emloyees part time to avoid certain expenses need to be addressed. For me, I rather have one full time position I can live on with company sponsored benefits than two or three part time positions. This will show employees the company appreciates your hard work and in turn keep turnover minimal. read more

Let me start off by saying: 1. I used to work at Applebee's. I understand how the business runs there. And 2. I am working during COVID and understand it's difficult for everyone trying to get the new processes down. But, I went today with a couple friends. Started off with a margarita that was pure mixer and gave me heartburn immediately. Was given a limited menu with the "oriental wrap" mentioned 2x on the menu. Server comes to take our orders, and I ask for that. "We don't have wraps, but you can get the salad." ... "oh, well it's on the menu." ... "yeah I don't know... we aren't selling it." Okay. Well I didn't want anything else so I will forgo eating. Fine. I'll just get another drink. I ask for an Angry Orchard. They usually have it. It's easily accessible, and most restaurants have it. "We don't have that." ... "Well, what do you have?" ... "we have a limited menu." Yes. It's COVID. But alcohol is easily accessible. You can still go to liquor stores. So I say I'm not sure what I want, and instead of the server giving me similar choices, rambling off beers, she basically just stares at me. Eventually she asks what I want and I said "just a girly drink, I guess, since you don't have a drink menu for me to look at." Nope. No drink menu. Gets me a Bahama mama. Sure. I drank those when I was 18 but I guess it is what it is. My friends food comes out. I take some fries. Cold, mushy. They weren't happy with their food. Go to check out with the tabletop computer. It doesn't work. Gives a million error messages. Server finally comes over and says "I don't know why those haven't been working all day." If you knew they weren't working, wouldn't you just use the normal server computers? When I was a server, we could handle our tables and didn't expect the customers to handle payment themselves. If I could leave ZERO stars I would. One of my first jobs was a hostess at the Applebee's on Mall Blvd. between 97-99. It was such a wonderful place to work! We were literally like family! I have always been loyal to Applebee's. Even years after I worked there. The mall Blvd. location no longer exists so I started going to the Abercorn location. During Covid we tried to support this location. BUT, the quality of the food gets worse and worse each time we pick it up. It should be noted that in the same shopping center there is a B&D Burger, Chick fil a AND an Outback Steakhouse. We have continuously gotten food to go from these establishments and they are still hot and delicious when we get home. It's ONLY when we get food to go from Applebee's that it's pure crap. Today we decided to give it a go. I got a chicken fajita roll up with fries and extra mexi ranch. My husband got bourbon street steak with fries but he was given mashed potatoes. Let's start with the fries. They literally tasted like they were leftover from the night before. I tried to revive them in my air fryer and it did nothing. There wasn't even any seasoning on the fries. My chicken fajita roll up was soggy. Not from grease but a watery liquid. AND the mexi ranch was so watered down it was inedible. I USED TO WORK AT APPLEBEES. I know how the food is supposed to come out! The chicken was scarce in my roll up and it was literally the size of the tip of my finger. My husband's steak was RAW, and his mashed potatoes were ice cold with NO seasoning. And he had literally 3-4 sautéed overcooked onion slivers. NOT ONLY DID WE PAY FOR TERRIBLE FOOD THAT WE HAD TO THROW AWAY, WE HAD TO PAY FOR A SECOND ROUND OF FOOD THAT WAS MORE ACCEPTABLE, EDIBLE AND SATISFYING! I WILL DEFINITELY BE CALLING CORPORATE BECAUSE THIS IS BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE. I have basically wasted so much money on shit food because I was trying to be loyal. WELL IM PISSED OFF NOW! So as far as chain restaurants go, I don't usually write reviews let alone 5-star reviews---BUT this particular Applebee's has amped up their A game and I felt it necessary to give a Yelp :) Today we were greeted promptly and friendly---we chose the 2 go $22 deal and opted for the cedar apple lemon chicken and the three cheese penne chicken with an appetizer. Honestly the food was ideal, tasty, perfectly proportioned and with in particular the cedar chicken was Delicious! Our server Dontrell (sp?) was super friendly and attentive. No problems whatsoever----our trip to Lowes was well worth it by the paired trip to Applebee's. We WILL be back for a yummy deal and healthy options for sure! read more

The service and health protocols are terrible. We waited almost 20 minutes before anyone showed up at our table and then another 20 minutes before our coffee showed up. The mugs were held by the server BY THE RIM, and then plonked down without an offer of cream or sugar. A simple request for some creamer was met with "We don't have any". No offer of an alternative or any offer to take our order. We finally decided not to have the coffee and leave, so we asked for the bill. She mumbled "don't worry about it" and walked out the back door. We were stunned, but after sitting around for a good while waiting for her to come back, we left.
