I researched rooftop bars that were opened for breakfast to celebrate my birthday. The nest seemed to fit the bill, they opened at 7:00 am. We (a party of 4) got there a little after 9, were told to go ahead and seat ourselves. We choose to sit outside for the view. Our server had absolutely no personality and even less sense of humor. We ordered drinks which were good,The food was decent but nothing to rave about. We were going to have a second drink but decided to go somewhere else. The views overlooking the Savannah River really make the experience feel elevated, especially for brunch or a relaxed afternoon date. I can't fully recommend the food based on what I ordered. The steak tacos were just okay for me, and the dragon fruit mojito leaned much sweeter than I prefer. That said, my date thoroughly enjoyed the mac and cheese topped with pulled pork, and the Old Fashioned cocktail was definitely a win. Our group of friends had a great time at The Nest. We originally chose it because of the atmosphere and the photos we saw online, and we were specifically looking for a rooftop restaurant with outdoor seating. It ended up being the perfect choice! The view from the rooftop was beautiful. We spent the afternoon watching boats and ships pass by while enjoying the gorgeous day on the river. The staff was very kind and even offered to take a group photo for us, which was such a nice touch. Most of our group ordered the wedge salad, and they all said it was great. I decided on the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. My favorite part, though, was the Dragon Berry Mojito. It was not only eye-catching but also incredibly refreshing and tasty. This was a beautiful experience. The view was amazing. The inside feels like you have stepped into a venue to be shared with others. At the same time it's intimate. The service is on par with the environment. The food... I have to admit that when I make modifications to a dish, it sometimes impacts its integrity. This did not happen. When I asked for no gravy or cheese on the grits, you could taste how well seasoned the food was. It was an absolutely delicious dish. Another day, another rooftop. This one is at Cotton Sail Hotel. We had a wonderful lunch there and cocktails. We shared their tasty crab dip. We both had the slider trio with truffle fries. My only regret with the truffles fries was I couldn't eat them all. I had the burger, fried chicken and pulled pork slider combo. The pulled pork was my favorite. Our server was expeditious. You should probably run to the Nest! It will be one of the best things you do in Savannah! Travis took care of us while there and he was wonderful. My best friend had a gluten allergy and he made sure that was taken care of. He brought us sliders wrapped in lettuce and spinach dip. That dip (and the bread it came with---lucky for me!!) were out of this world. I may have put some on my slider. Oops! He brought us cocktails based on what we said we loved. Em had a special of the week (chocolate covered strawberry martini) and I had the dragon berry mojito as the first round. Both were amazing. First impressions, I really like the greenery on the walls. They could still go way out with that and make it more. Our server was attentive, food was speedy. Beer options are limited, but there are specialized cocktails i haven't seen before so thats nice. Prices are more on the higher side for drinks. They have a decent menu for breakfast which im sad to say we missed. Lunch and dinner options were on the smaller side. We settled for the Classic Sliders. The Nest made up for limited choices with the taste of the food. Very happy & thoroughly enjoyed our meal! 2 sliders were very filling. I do want to start off by saying the food was great and the drinks were very good. I got their version of Shrimp and Grits - which had grit cakes instead of traditional grits and bacon gravy to top it off, delicious. My mom had Belgian waffles, and my husband had the breakfast casserole. Both seemed to enjoy their food as well. What we were disappointed in was the very slow inattentive service, and lack of food options at 1:00 in the afternoon. We were told we could ONLY order from the breakfast menu when we came for Lunch, but that the lunch and dinner menus were only served after 3:00 pm?? I'm confused on their definition of "lunch", it really was disappointing and we had to change our order immediately upon being told that we couldn't order what we wanted. The only "lunch" option was the Mother's Day special that was $50 and we didn't want that, my very food specific mother wanted sliders and had to settle for waffles. It just felt a lot to be desired when the lunch options aren't served AT LUNCH TIME. And it took forever to get our server to get anything, we had to ask other servers around us for water and to go boxes. Our night didn't start out great, with our reservation having to wait 40 mins past our time to be seated... but the nest still had some perks. Our waitress was really good, and even made proper adult non-alcoholic cocktails without the sugary kid flair. The kitchen is slow, but the food was excellent once it arrived. The spinach dip is a good option we cleaned the plate, but the calamari was not as enjoyable. Made reservations for a birthday celebration , 9 people. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation to be greeted rudely and told ,"we can seat you but the kitchen is closed". They had been open for 1 hour and 20 mins and had closed the kitchen because they were to busy but yet could not fulfill a reservation that had been made in advance and then was so rude about it! Happy to say that the service was great and I was in and out in about 20 mins which was perfect. My breakfast was just so so. Got the traditional Nest breakfast and didn't finish it all. Don't do it. We walked in and immediately got scolded for outside drinks so we threw them away. Then got Told to sit anywhere and promptly got helped by no one. Went back inside to the bar to get a drink and it took 7-10 business days for the bartender to get to us while he crashed out about other guests. After a few minutes out on the terrace we were approached by the female bartender who asked if I wanted to fill out the receipt. I said I had. She made a face because there was no tip. What bartender harasses people for a tip of $2 when we haven't completed drinking. We may have stayed for food or more drinks but she completely turned us off. She was rude and completely off base. She should focus more on taking better care of colustomers. If she had a good personality and actually spoke to me I may have given her a tip right away.
