We chanced upon this restaurant while driving around Savannah deciding on dinner and we were very impressed. Lovely place. Very good and friendly service staff. We ordered the Shrimp Po boy sandwich and Shrimp and grits. Absolutely delicious. Our server was Vaux and such a pleasant young man to talk to. He came by several times to make sure we were fine. Went for lunch. Also got the collard and bacon dip but forgot to snap a pic, but it was my favorite. On the po'boy, the shrimp were fried very well, bread toasted nicely, with the tomatoes were whole sliced versus decided, and something was a tad too salty but I don't know if it was the shrimp or the sauce on them. Good fries. Fair prices. Great customer service. Clean restaurant, though it smelled a tad bit like cleaning chemicals. Fast seating with ample parking. read more

I've always wanted to try the 5 Spot and I'm so glad we were able to try it today! Located in the Habersham Village- there's a lot of parking available. It wasn't busy for a Saturday afternoon. The employees were all very kind. The hostess didn't bring us a high chair for our toddler, but luckily they were within viewing distance where we could grab one. The restaurant is pretty spacious. The menu has a great mix of different tavern-like foods. We opted for some sandwiches and our toddler got Mac n cheese and the tenders. The food was delicious. We all ate everything off of our plates! I got a margarita and it was $10 for a good-sized drink. For a family of 3 we spent about $60 with tip. Final Verdict: I do think we will be back! They seem to have a lot of happy hour deals and the brunch plates look like a good deal! read more

We stopped in on a Tuesday and it wasn't too busy. The hostess was friendly but seemed wiped! Our server was great at upselling but the food doesn't match the price. It felt like a diner that charged too much. I tried my first Fried Green Tomato Sandwich and it didn't make me want another. My daughter liked her Salmon sandwich but it wasn't easy to eat. Service didn't include a manager visit and when I pointed out I was charged too little for the wrong bill again, no visit. I also didn't get a void receipt and when I called was treated with a dismissive tone from management. As a former Catering Manager and Wedding Planner, you can and will mess up but how you handle it will keep people coming back or at least overlooking mistakes. Stopped by The 5 Spot while in town with some friends. We had a reservation and were seated upon arrival. The ambiance is cute and trendy. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the white wine parmesan bowtie pasta with blackened salmon and a side caesar salad. Others in my group ordered the Buddha bowl with blackened salmon, the fried shrimp platter, and the chicken fried chicken. The pasta dish was very flavorful and the salmon was cooked well. The side caesar had a nice balance and wasn't overdressed with salad dressing. The gravy on the chicken needed a little more seasoning to balance the flavors as well as the collard greens. Overall we were satisfied with our food. I would definitely come back for brunch when back in town. read more

I returned to this restaurant 5 years later when back in the area and was disappointed in the changes to service, flavor & cost. I couldn't get over that a simple meal like low country shrimp & grits was $20. I chose the fried green tomatoes appetizer for my meal at about $14. While it was a crunchy crust, it hit the flavor of the tomatoe slices. The menu did not note that the "remoulade" was "nose-running spicy". I also chose a blueberry bread pudding, filled with blueberries and flavorful under a nice vanilla ice cream. It was not evenly warm tho, with cold spots. The biggest disappointment was the ten minutes it took to get service and a simple glass of water. There were ample (3) servers socializing in the small register area, and 2 socializing at the hostess stand, it just didn't seem anyone was there to work. the place was relatively empty at a meal time. Hoping for a great meal but that was not the case! My husband ordered a beer, pours it into a glass with something black in the bottom that's floating in the beer. Yuck. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap and the chicken was crunchy!! So I ended up eating the fries and a small side salad. My husband got grilled shrimp and only got 8 one bite/tiny shrimp!! Then another couple came in and were wanting dessert. I guess they weren't impressed and they left. The hostess cleared the menus and said out loud "good riddance ". We were actually on our way to another restaurant on Saturday morning for breakfast/brunch, spotted The 5 Spot and remembered seeing good reviews on it, so decided to stop here instead. It was clean, bright with lots of natural light, and had more of a calm and quiet vibe than many of the other restaurants we've visited in the area for breakfast. It has, in my opinion, more of an adult vibe rather than a "bring the kids" place, so maybe that plays in to the reduced noise level and relaxed atmosphere. The hosts/greeters and servers were all friendly. We were seated at a booth and, don't know if they're all like this but, we could have used a few more inches between us and the table, though the padded seats were comfortable. We started with iced coffee and I got a bloody mary as well. The bloody mary was very good (came with a couple of green olives and a piece of okra... yum!), but I didn't care for the dry consistency of the spice mix along the rim of the glass. Bypassed the rim spice by using a straw, so no big deal. Husband got "The Classic Five" (two eggs any style, sausage gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuit, cheese grits with choice of bacon or sausage) and selected over-medium for the eggs and crispy bacon. The bacon was crispy but unfortunately, so were the eggs. He ended up having to send the well-overcooked eggs back and having them replaced with some over-medium eggs that still were still kind of unappealing to me due to the brown crunchy stuff on the edges and bottom (yolks were perfect, though). The rest of his meal was great, as was mine. I got the "The Village Scramble" (Two eggs scrambled, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, grilled peppers & onions over crispy potatoes, topped with sausage gravy & green onions, with a homemade biscuit) and it was absolutely delicious. Both of our meals were too much to finish and had we not been traveling we'd have gladly taken the leftovers with us. Their sausage gravy is really, really good. One thing that made my dish particularly yummy was a mix of different sizes/shapes of the potato pieces. Some pieces were like home fries and others were super thin and crispy, almost like homemade potato chips, which added a really nice mix of textures. One negative I need to mention, though. A pet peeve of ours with restaurants is when we see a host/server/busser wipe off the tables and the seats with the same cleaning cloth, and I observed this here as well, unfortunately. I don't care how much solution you have on your cleaning cloth, it grosses me out a bit to have food areas wiped with the same cloth that's cleaned areas where people have had their bottoms and, at least on Saturday, their dog carrier. We'll go back here again, but hope this practice will have changed. read more

I completed a to go order of fried green tomato BLT with sweet potato fries about 30 minutes before closing. Unfortunately, the sandwich came with bacon bits instead of full slices like I've had in past times, and the fries were cold--as if they were the last of a batch no one wanted to remake. I completely understand it was close to closing time, but if orders that late can't be prepared with the same quality, it might be worth reconsidering online ordering availability during that final window. This time I tried the truckin' burger-- two smashed patties, cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomato and special sauce. The beef patties weren't really smashed, just two smaller patties stacked. This missed the mark. The special sauce is good, but not really popping with flavor. I upgraded to the truffle fries - which is some sort of truffle salt seasoning sprinkled on top. The reason for 3 stars is that the portions were extremely disappointing. Another yelper mentioned that this is kind of like elevated cafeteria food, and I see that. The tenders were so small, and the same small tenders were in the hot honey chicken sandwich. When we asked our waiter about the size, he said that even he was a little taken aback but how small the portions were. This rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps I'm used to waiters being a bit more forthcoming with things like that? The price of each dish wasn't too bad, about $14 for both. But again, the portions were disrespectful. I don't think there's a chicken tender shortage right now, right? I would probably go back, if I'm being honest. Because again, the flavors were really good. The portion of this building was once occupied by Clary's here in Habersham Village on Habersham Street, which, now taken over by Gas Light Group, has given us a new great place to enjoy Clary's that once occupied this, here spot on the corner will be missed. First visit and it was awesome from beginning to end. I ordered a few beers, but their beer gas was out so it wasnt draft. No biggie. Our server, Amber, was amazing and I really liked her. Service was fantastic. She was friendly. It was not busy but there was a decent crowd. I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were tasty. The fish was excellent but a little greasy. I'm not a big fan of broccoli and they serve everything with a broccoli slaw. It wasn't bad, just not my favorite thing.
