The waitress Crissiana was beyond rude and terrible. She threw plastic silverware on our table. I asked for proper silverware and she said they were all dirty. Got our drink order. Came back approximately 15 minutes later to take our order. Another staff member delivered our food. (And that server was very pleasant) The waitress then proceeded to reach over my food while I was trying to eat to get a plate that wasn't even used yet. She never returned to ask if I needed a drink refill. When given our tickets they were wrong and she sighed at me because I asked her to fix it. The atmosphere is just so very off. The manager was inside yelling at a staff member loud enough for all of the restaurant's occupants to hear. She was actively talking about her weight with another team member(which can be very triggering to someone whom may have an eating disorder). The manager and team were constantly talking very loudly and when our order came out incorrect we could hear them actively saying that, "she has no clue what she was even looking at." We were in a hurry for homecoming and it took an HOUR to get our food. they forgot mayo on our burger, the fries were cold, and they forgot syrup on my passion fruit flavored drink even tho they took it back to put syrup on it. it wasn't even packed so there was absolutely no reason for it to be such a slow week. They also forgot to give my friend his $10. Overall was a crazy wait and wouldnt go again. read more

This is a hard review to write... so I'm going to do the compliment sandwich thing, or at least try. The staff that have stuck around are amazing... they bust their butts and make great efforts to make everyone's meal as enjoyable as possible. It's clear they have a small core of very dedicated folk. The negative is the owners rely on the tipping minimum wage to get rich while stacking 11 restaurants between Wisconsin and Missouri. Champaign Applebees pays $14/hr minimum, the owner of the Savoy establishment has no excuse for robbing their employees like this. Sufficed to say the owners are janky af. The core staff there, in spite of all the negative, still bring their A game and smiles to the table every day; they are truly exceptional. Another positive... every single thing I've eaten there has been stupid delicious. I mean, ridiculous. Worth every penny, and there are a lot of really great deals on the regular. 2-5 PM and 9- closing is the best time for deals. Burgers are 8.99 on Mondays, too. If you can find understanding in your heart and keep in mind the folks that showed up are doing the best they can with what they're given, you will have a great experience. They'd never push you to tip, but I will. Show these awesome folks some love and they will be so grateful. Better yet, if you own a restaurant hire them (you won't regret it). read more

Picked up two apps to share, the sampler and nachos. The nachos were gross and missing most of the toppings. The spinach dip on the sampler was runny and so salty it was inedible. The mozz sticks were hard and the quesadilla was edible but not great and all dips and sauces were missing. So disappointing. read more

Took my grandson to Applebee's. Waited almost ten minutes just to be seated. Sat for another 10 with no staff interaction. Finally the person that seated us took our drink and food orders. We waited another 20 minutes and no drinks or acknowledgement. We walked out and ate elsewhere. read more

Came for burger Monday deal where any burger is 7.99. Sat at the bar area and enjoyed a meal with sports on the TVs. For 7.99 it's quite the deal. The quesadilla burger was different. It comes in a quesadilla shape with a flour tortilla instead of your usual bun. Pretty decent. The bacon burger was a standard burger. The patties are a little thin and smashed but for 7.99 can't really complain. Sides are customizable but the standard is fries if you don't ask for the vegetables or pasta options (there are others too). Service was ok. They forgot us for a bit while sitting at the bar area. We had to get up and find a server to pay so we could leave. The servers tried but just seemed too busy. Most likely understaffed so not entirely their fault. If you're not in a hurry and want a good deal, head on over! read more

Terrible I eat at Applebee's all over the country. The Savoy IL location is in the top 2 worse I've ever been to. All draft beer was out except 3 light beers. My appetizer was cold and my salad was only about 3/4 full. Swimming in dressing. The place looks and smells run down. The smallest bar of ANY of the Applebee's I've visited. The girls on the the staff were nice but it isn't their fault. This review will be on every site. read more

This place is gross.. Went in for the AYCE and they do not have the riblets so all you get is fried shrimp or chicken. Very disappointed. Been this way the handful of times I have gone here.. They can't cook a rare steak without being brown all the way through, because they line their steaks in advance and microwave them to order. One time we went and waited a half hour to get waited on to have our server say .sorry I was cleaning up puke...ya um we left. Sad they are going to close just like north prospect location. When we were sat, it took them almost 20 minutes just to come and take our drink orders then about another 15 minutes for them to be brought to the table. We sat for a little over a half an hour waiting to order. Not once were we checked on. We sat there for an additional 45 minutes waiting for our order of food to come out. We then asked if they could just make it to go instead of bringing it to the table. The waitress told us it would be about another 10 minutes before the food was even done. So we ended up canceling the order after waiting for almost an hour + for our food. I could understand if it was busy but it was fairly empty when we came in. read more

Our waitress was nice but we will never return here. We spent over $100. And my steak was burnt to a crisp when I asked for medium. When i finally recieved my steak back, the outside was burnt but the inside was completely raw. My mashed potatoes tasted really bad and the mac and cheese was made weird but i ate some of it bc i was so hungry. My husband ate his baby back ribs and shared with me but they were so tough. I had to get loud just to get my check. We will never ever go back to this location. The bar area was nasty and the floors had trash where we ate. Probably wont be in business too long at this rate. The wait was incredibly long, my party of 3 had to wait 40 minutes to be sat. The servers looked like they were overwhelmed. The food wasn't worth the price and no one was paying attention to my table. The whole setting was too dim and the booths weren't clean. Do not go to Applebee's in Savoy! We were waiting in line to be seated. A DoorDash person came in to pick up an order. They attempted to wait on him first we advise them we were there first. The hostess proceeds to tell us that he's got to go order and she was advised she could not see any more customers for at least 10 minutes. There are plenty of tables, so we are on our way to another restaurant. So don't waste your time stop in there. read more

I don't usually complain about restaurants, but...My friend and I went to this location to have lunch a few days ago. The waitress was okay, not particularly friendly, but okay and we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered two dishes -- the chicken strips and the fish and chips. The fish filets were overly fishy smelling and bland. I can't personally speak for the chicken strips because I only had one and it was okay (not great, but okay), but my friend said that they were undercooked (heated up from being frozen maybe?). My friend told the waitress and she seemed not to believe him. She said that there wasn't "much we can do since you ate most of it." Well, he had only noticed the undercooked nature of it toward the end, and especially when he bit into the fish that I gave him from my plate. The waitress. seemed to get a little of a defensive attitude. Whatever the case might be with the chicken strips, it was very clear that the bit-into but not finished fish filet sitting on the plate in front of her was not fully cooked. Just that alone should have been enough to earn an apology or discount on the bill. She said she could give us a discount, but then when we got the bill, it was the full price (and was very overpriced for the quality.) I didn't say anything about the bill since I just wanted to get out of there at that point. But wow, $37 for two meals that were very unsatisfying. But the whole thing literally left a bad taste in my mouth. Even had the food not been undercooked, it just didn't taste good -- bland and uninteresting. Go to Red Robin instead. They know how to do fish and chips right. And the meal we had there was cheaper and the waiter far friendlier. read more

Slow, rude waitstaff. Inept, rude management. All for "average at best" food. Oh, and expect to be there for about an hour and a half only to feel completely defeated. Don't waste your time! Update. 04/26/19. Things haven't gotten any better. Maybe worse. Website and Yelp say this location is open till midnight. Arrived to locked door at 10:56 pm on Friday night. When I called asking about the discrepancy, I was told that they've been trying to correct it. When I said in understandable frustration that they needed to get there act together I was told quote "maybe you should quit coming here!" I have filed a complaint with corporate. Okay, Here's the truth: I go to this Applebee's for dinner because my son and I can walk there from the movie theater, where we've been dropped off to see a show. The food is not very good. It's mostly out of a box or a bag that started in the freezer and prepared by someone with limited culinary training or authority. They are reheating and combining. What little comes fresh is often not fresh at all (think two to three item salads, with that one wonky tomato wedge). We once asked for steamed broccoli for my son and were brought a hunk of broccoli that had not even been trimmed -- stalk, leaves, and all. It had been lightly steamed, at least. What's best are things like steaks, burgers, little sliders and other fried appetizers (because, well, fried), dessert shots (like pudding in a glass). The drinks are okay, too. The tables are getting sticky with age. They're wiped off with a communal rag kept in a bucket of disinfectant stuff behind the greeters' podium (it just makes my skin crawl every time it comes out of the gray "water"). The best thing about the place is the staff. They're nice folks and well focused on customer service. We try to leave a good tip every time. read more

My wife & I would stop in here after dance lessons or shopping when we were in this side of town. Never had a problem. Always hot fresh food, clean restaurant, decent service and friendly staff. With the virus going on, it's not often we grab & go. Even before this year, we rarely grabbed & go from most places unless it was pizza or wings from other places. So we tried their online ordering, getting the clubhouse & fries for me with the bacon cheddar grilled chicken w/o onions & fries for my wife. Got there & was greeted quickly by a friendly staff member. Got our order quickly & on our way. Fries were hot & salty, we shared one order of those on are way home. Got home & prepared to eat just to find out that my wife's bacon cheddar grilled chicken had no bacon or cheddar. Let alone no bbq bacon ranch sauce. If it wasn't for my wife's sandwich missing 2 very important items that are in the title of the description of the sandwich, this would have been a 5 star review. read more

Now, I am giving Applebees an additional star because I really enjoyed the meal I had. The service still lacked and my waitress only showed up twice and did not refill my water glass. She was absent so much that I ended up drinking my husbands water. I ordered the Signature Sirloin and Garlic Shrimp off the under 550 calorie menu. It was pretty good and the serving size was just right. It came with herbed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, bruschetta (which was not on my plate when served so I have no idea if it is good) and sliced almonds. The seasonal vegetables was just a big piece of broccoli but it was good. I waited entirely too long for the bill. In fact, I told the people with me to go ahead and leave since they had somewhere to be and I waited for the bill and paid when the waitress decided to show up again. read more

It's certainly not the best food, but it is close to our house, usually prompt, and pretty cheap with the 2 for $20 and kids eat free. So, it was an OK choice on occasional nights when we didn't feel like cooking or just wanted a change of scenery. That is, until last night. After first waiting for 15 minutes for any wait staff to appear, then waiting an additional several minutes for our waters to arrive (not to mention the additional 10 minutes for the single beer to brought out), then waiting for quite some time for our meals to arrive, we discovered that somehow 1 order wasn't placed. At this point it was a full hour from when we were seated. I waited an additional 10-15 minutes for my salad to arrive. The manager stopped by to offer chips and salsa, but we'd already had an app with the 2 for $20, so we declined. At this point, the kids were tired and restless, and ready to head home. I packed my salad in a to go box and asked for the check. They offered a 10% discount, which amounted to less than $3 on the total bill. Unfortunately, at this point we discovered that the restaurant had stopped the kids eat free plan as well. So, all told, the meal took twice as long as we planned, with a lot more hassle than necessary, and we spent more than the quality of food warranted, and certainly more than the overall experience warranted. Since the primary reasons we chose Applebee's on nights like last night were the convenience and relative cheap cost, we won't bother going back in the future. read more

We were only interested in desserts. My husband and I sat in the bar for 5mins and were never acknowledged. They were NOT busy. Then asked the hostess to seat us, we explained the situation regarding the bar. We were seated and again were never greated by a server. 6 more mins pass. Perhaps we we invisible. There was a manager talking business with a couple at the booth behind us...we explained the situation to him, his response was, "were you sitting at the bar or a table in the bar"? Are you kidding me. Who cares which it was. Their service is terrible. The staff is mediocre at best. We were reminded why we don't eat at Applebee's. My wife and I stopped in to grab a quick bite before the Cubs game. We sat in the bar area at a table. Our original server disappeared after taking our order. (didn't get her name) Someone else brought out our food and then we didn't hear from anyone for quite awhile after that. A new waitress came on shift at 5pm and had to deal with everything that the previous person left her. She took care of us and apologized several times about the previous waitress who disappeared. (wasn't her fault!) If someone's shift is ending they need to tell the next person taking over as well as their customers. Communication is very important in this business. The food was ok. We ordered regular burgers with cheese and mine had bacon. I got through about half my burger and then bit into several gristles. I had one good piece of bacon and the rest were not cooked enough. The fries thankfully were very good. We've eaten at this location several times in the past, but this visit was not the greatest. Hopefully future visits will be better. read more

Got some lunch with a friend here last week. When we arrived, we had to wait 5 minutes for someone to seat us. It was dead in there! A couple of servers noticed us but noone came to help us. Finally, after being seated, we had to wait another 15 minutes before being greeted by a server. We were more than ready to order at that point. I ordered a lunch combo, which consisted of a grilled shrimp salad and the California Turkey Club. My friend got the chicken brocolli pasta. We got our food reasonably fast. Anyway, my salad was pretty tasty but the sandwich was BLAND. The portions were tiny. My friend said she liked the pasta but it looked kinda dry to me. i don't usually leave reviews, but we had a horrible experience and had to share. I made this account just for this purpose. I recently came in with my husband for our anniversary dinner. We were seated at a table in the bar. wasn't very busy so I don't know what took so long for the waitress to greet us. After about 10 min, she shows up reeking of cigarette smoke with her pants so tight you could see her whole buttcrack. i ordered a margarita with salt and she brought me one without salt and it also tasted like there was no liquor. Tasted like pure sweet&sour mix. Had no issue with the food. Our ribs were delicious. We weren't asked if we wanted drink refills one time. we both would have ordered more bar drinks if she bothered to check on us! Her name was a strange one like zoey or Zara? Other than that, the food was excellent! But they should not have someone like that representing the Applebee's brand!
