I usually like Applebee's, but this one was extremely horrible. First, my table ordered boneless hot chicken wings. The order was that came out was medium. After informing the server, the wings were taken to the kitchen. Then, the same incorrect order came out. It was taken back again. The manager then informed us the wings were to be comped. They were not. The incorrect order that was taken back was comped and not the one we actually ate. I informed the server at pointed it out on the charge. He said it was comped when it wasn't. At this point I didn't have the energy to argue as the following also took place: - Served a plate with rice in a bag (I did not know the rice was cooked in a small bag) - Really really slow service read more

The food is decent bar type food. It's too salty, not really hot or all that good. The part that kills it for me about this Applebee's, is the service. We went to a really early dinner around 4:45 and there was literally two other families there. Waitresses and the bartender saw us and we stood at the door for over 5 minutes before they could be bothered to greet us and get us seated. Then it took forever between each task; drinks, ordering, getting our meal and finally our check. It felt like we were there forever. I had to ask for three things more than once, to have the table wiped (because it was sticky), a drink refill and a bag for our leftovers. I finally went to the bar and asked for a bag. We arrived at Applebee's for dinner and were seated. We have not eaten dinner in Applebee's for many years. We ordered cocktails and dinner. The dinner arrived and I was immediately put off by the presentation of my husband's order. He ordered pepper crusted sirloin and it hardly looked similar to the picture in the menu. He asked for medium steak and received medium well. I ordered the bourbon steak sirloin and it was the worst piece of steak I have ever eaten. Our server stopped by to ask how the food was and my husband politely said his was fine. As the server began to walk away, she stepped back to ask about my food and I said the steak tasted rubbery. Her reply was "good, good." She obliviously was not listening and already had prepared her canned response. A few minutes later, Shane the manager, came over to ask about our meal. I told Shane that I had rubbery chicken before, but never rubbery steak. He apologized and stated that we could have received a poor cut of meat. He asked was there anything else on the menu we would like, and I replied no thank you. I told Shane that I doubt that I would return to Applebee's for anything more than appetizers and drinks. My husband chimed in and stated he doubted we would have drinks because the drinks were either watered down or short poured. We ordered Patron Margaritas, which tasted much like water. Telling us that the ice could have melted making it taste weak was not an appropriate reply because the drinks came to the table tasting watered down from the onset. This is by far THE WORSE MEAL I have eaten in Stafford VA in SIX YEARS!! Having the manager ask about the meal and get honest feedback from the customer only to do nothing about the bill only added insult to injury. I realize that Applebee's is not five star restaurant quality, but it should at least be edible. Drenching the steak in A-1 was the only way to mask the horrible cut of meat and even worse preparation! Shame on Applebee's! Now we know why half of the tables were empty when we walked in. I have been here with my family at least 5 times, and every time there's a problem. The last experience was classic. We went to try their new pub diet menu. After ordering, we watched multiple customers order, then get their food. Our waiter remained silent. Finally, after an hour, I had to ask him what was up...THEN he decides to tell me that their was an error with the computer that lost our order. But, he assured me, the manager would be by to talk and offer a free dessert (hah, exactly what 2 people ordering off the new lighter menu want!). 10 minutes later, no food, no waiter, no manager (he was aimlessly wandering around the bar area)...I finally convinced my better half to drop $5 for our sodas and walk out. Our other experiences have been similar...food wrong, bad service, etc. I added 1 star solely because the bartenders have been much better when we went in only for a drink. Buyer beware. read more

My wife and three kids eat out often. Tonight was our first night to this Applebee's. Normally we go to the Dumfries one, but we were down here and thought we would try it. Ten minutes after being seated, I finally got the eye of a manager, intending to tell him we have not yet seen our server. I get out the words "Excuse me sir, we have not yet seen our waitress for" before he turned and walked quickly away, without a word, seemingly trying to escape. We wish we took his cue and did the same... A very nice waitress then took our drink order within a minute, promising our server would show soon. Five minutes later our server appeared with drinks. Better late than never. We ordered. Fifteen minutes later (felt like long wait), appetizers showed up and were great. Five minutes after we finished, dinner arrived. My wife's salad was the wrong kind, and my ribs were barely above fridge temperature. I have NEVER sent a plate back to the kitchen but I had to tonight. When my wife told the server her food came out wrong, he asked whether she had eaten any of it. After it had been on the table at least two minutes. Really!? Are you going to serve it yo someone else!?! I got a replacement plate of ribs that were dry but at least not cold. The rest of the evening was uneventful thankfully. We will not be going back. Sorry Applebee's. We will be spending the rest of our gift card money elsewhere. I think you need more training at this location. read more

Service is usually pretty crappy. The menu is misleading. They have drinks on there that are "free refills", but they'll then tell you that you cannot get free refills on that drink. I try giving Applebee's another chance, but they always disappoint. read more

Visited Applebee's yesterday and it has gone down hill. The chips for the spinach dip were soggy and stale. The ribs came out cold and looked like a McRib from McDonalds. We are never going back. The waitress felt so bad and we told her it is not her fault. They adjusted the bill, however we gave the waitress a 50% tip on the check because she very pleasant and professional. My experience here wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great. I went to Applebee's this past Sunday with my dad. We were looking for something fast to eat because we were so hungry. I think our waitress's name was Morgan, she was very friendly. Not the annoying "too perky" friendly, she was the perfect amount of perkiness/friendliness. She was very attentive and kind, not to mention she was always around when I needed her :) Anyway, I ordered the peppercorn steak with asiago cheese and the white peach sangria. The sangria was okay I've had better for much cheaper. The steak was "meh". I felt that they put too much peppercorn on the steak, I could hardly taste the meat. The outside was charred, but the inside was too bloody, how the hell is that possible? My last drink was gin & tonic (beefeaters) and that was deeelish, but the bar tender forgot to give me a lime. Overall the food was okay, I kept eating my dad's french fries. (Which were yuuum!) Overall the food didn't impress me, neither did my first drink. The service was excellent! I would give the food and drinks 2 stars, only because the gin and tonic was good. Chili's is right next door and I'd prefer to go there, but Applebee's makes mudslides and they're delicious! The last time I was there we were with a group of about 12 people. They had two servers help us and half our group was helped sooner than the other half so we didn't all get our food at the same time. We ordered the 2 for $20 meal and we never given our desert, or even asked what desert comes with it. We were definitely disappointed in the services that day. Ordered for pickup. Order was late. No problem, Saturday night, I understand. Order was missing LOTS of items, and much of the order was completely wrong. Sent most of it back to fix. Waited ANOTHER half hour, while the remaining food was getting cold in my car... they bring everything out, and I trust everything was okay (I mean it was a half hour later), MISTAKE!!! I got home, and they didn't give me one of my two missing kids meals... so one of my kids had no food. And we live 30 minutes away, so I wasn't going back. 12/22/18 Worst dining experience I've ever had. Waited 15 minutes before we had a waitress ask if we needed help. She took our drink order and our dinner order. Ten minutes later our drinks arrived, forty minutes later we still hadn't seen our food, 2 sandwiches and fries. by the time the food got there the sauce on my chicken sandwich had soaked into the bottom bun making it impossible to eat, my wife order a club sandwich that turned out to be just a plain turkey and bacon sandwich. So after an hour and 15 minutes the only thing they got right was the drinks. At 5:45 the place was not that busy, in face there seem to be more wait staff then customers, and all they seemed to doing is walking around ignoring people. Needless to say my wife and I will never go back to this so called restaurant, and I would advise anyone to go someplace else. So we were hungry and decided to try this place on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the same location and boy did they let us down ONCE AGAIN!!! We got seated at 2:45p and waited to order our food as we were hungry like dogs... the waiter finally came to our table (after bullshitting around) so we placed our order at 3:03p (notice how long it took him to come back to our table to take our order). After waiting for so long to place our order, we waited, we waited and we waited. My husband and I sat there looking at each other like, " did he forget our order?" And we waited...we then began to get upset because he never came back around to tell us if our food was eaten by the cooks or what the deal was. So we waited and decided we'd had enough so we looked at the time and it was 3:40p when we noticed him taking his time and bringing our food. We were so upset that we wasn't even hungry anymore and decided to leave. Yes, we left after waiting that long for our food. What really made us upset was because the place had no customers there. It was empty!! We left and WILL NEVER RETURN EVER AGAIN!! We called and spoke to the Manager who seemed to be nonchalant about our complaint. So we will be calling the Corporate office because this was not the first time. Their service is horrible and this place needs a complete. The food took forever to get to my table and when it did arrive it was undercooked, over seasoned, drowned in sauce and cold. Pretty disappointed with this place. I never go to chains but decided to give some a try during happy hours. Place wasn't overalls busy but the bartender Amber was handling everything. (Only good thing about my visit) She was serving the entire bar, service station for the tables orders, washing glassware, cleaning off the bar, answering phones, even saw her running food out to cars outside. My husband and I had 40 minutes to spare one weekend and decided to stop and grab a bite before picking the kids up from the sitter. We went to Applebee's and we both ordered the Cedar Salmon. It took more than 20 minutes for us to get our food, which isn't necessarily a problem, but that fact matters because of what happens next. Well, my cedar salmon was clearly, obviously topped with an entirely different topping than my husband's. His had the lemon/wine artichoke topping. Mine had a pile of greasy cheese. My waitress was obviously slammed and overwhelmed so I flagged down someone else and asked for a manager. An extremely young, rude man then dropped a tiny plastic cup off and said "your artichoke topping". I hadn't asked to have the topping replaced so I stopped the rude young fella and told him I didn't ask for that, I'd asked for a manager. He asked what was the problem. I briefly explained and then again asked for a manager. He shocked me and said he was a manager. He said he had brought me a replacement sauce so there shouldn't be an problem and he quickly walked away. My husband and I were shocked. I then flagged down another waitress again and asked for another manager. This time a more polite and professional man came by and I explained the whole thing. He offered to make me another salmon but by this time we had spent our entire 40 minutes dealing with this and we had to go. I told him I wasn't going to pay for the salmon as I hadn't gotten what I ordered and hadn't eaten anything and he reluctantly (though politely) comped our meal and we left. I have never gone back to this restaurant and I never will. Chili's is right next door so if I'm in a hurry and need a quick, chain restaurant meal and a beer, I go to chili's. read more

I got HORRIBLE food poisoning from the chicken pasta. I woke up in the middle of the night and was horribly sick.. when it came time for us to pack up and leave in the early AM I could not leave the bathroom. Little did I know that the one in Stafford would toast my sandwich bun using the "Satan's Inferno" setting on their grill. But I wasn't alone as everyone at my table who got a sandwich had their bun burnt to a crisp (though mine would have doubled nicely as a hockey puck and/or a weapon). After sitting for over 20 minutes our server (Daniel P) finally shows up to take our order. Not surprised that one of our appetizers was missing;the service was horrible. When the server returned, it was only to report that the bartender refused to offer a replacement for the August happy hour so I would have to order something else off of the menu. Using a happy hour drink special to motivate and entice customers to patronize your restaurant and then telling them they can't get what was advertised is so shady! It's like the old bait and switch! So I order something off the menu and told him not to bother with the missing appetizer. The entire service was aweful... no plates, no silverware... we kept looking up trying to get the servers attention so we could get a fork! By the time I was 1/2 way through my food, I finally got my drink. Sigh... if you are thinking about going to the happy hour at Applebee's, you may be better off sitting directly at the bar. I don't recall Applebee's having terrible quality food but this one does. The blackened chicken penne was terrible. You get a small piece of chicken that is cut up and the alfredo sauce is runny and very bland. It tasted like I was just eating the noodles. The chips they serve are chewy rather than crunchy and everything tastes like it was frozen and all they did was heat it up. Not to mention they have a terrible beer selection. I guess it's hard to please a beer connoisseur. The only reason why I went there was because I had a $5 off coupon. Possibly the worst steak I've ever had. We chose Applebee's because we have always had great meals at the one near South Pointe in Fredericksburg. This one, just off the Garrisonville VA exit of I95, was nearly empty at lunch time, yet we waited 30 minutes for our food. The waitress got us our drinks right away, but was invisible while our food took forever. We would have appreciated some explanation or an apology. When it did arrive, it was the toughest steak I've eaten. If I had not been so hungry and in need of protein, I would not have bothered. Tough as old leather. The presentation was awful -- boiled pieces of potato scattered on the plate, with a truly disgusting portabello mushroom cap covered with some mystery sauce, supposed to be artichoke. Got my steak order wrong . Me & my brother both got steak but he likes Med Rare while I like mine Well done (no pink). Waiter even repeated the order. So finally got our food after a long wait & as soon as I cut into that steak, it was all pink. My brother cut his & no pink at all. Waiter was like "what would you like". Now we have to wait again for meal. They had to cook a new steak for us but the rest of meal was probably put under warmer or microwaved coz it was same pasta (I took a piece of shrimp & whole thing looks same). Had to call waiter for refill on drinks even though he brought food & noticed they were really low. So now manager comes & offers us appetizer or dessert & says she would comp our meal for long wait. We declined on appetizer. Bill comes & we got comped 20%of meal & paid for our dessert. I am just passing thru but I think I would avoid this Applebee's. It didn't seem super busy compared to the Woodbridge location, but it took ten minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, then another ten minutes before we got our waters to the table, at which time we told the waitress what we wanted. I really hate chain restaurants, but when we have family in town for the day, we didn't want to risk going on 95 and getting stuck in traffic. We live here and have never eaten at this Applebees, but have eaten at several other ones. The foods usually always the same, salty and blends together. Tonight, we had party of 7, to include 3 children. We sat down and the tv above us was deafeningly loud! So loud, that we had to speak loudly to one another. We had to scoot around to let the several servers attempt to turn it down. Finally it got turned down and we settled in to look at the menu. Waiter took our drink orders, which came out rather swiftly. He came back around and took our dinner orders. The place was practically EMPTY! While we waited, my husband decided he wanted a beer and ordered one. 15 minutes after he ordered the beer, our server came around to check on us. We had to remind him about the beer. By the time the beer came it had been about 35 minutes since we had ordered. We didn't say anything and continued to wait. About an hour into waiting, we waved down our server and asked what was up. He said he'd check on our food and "light a fire" under the cooks. About an hour 15 minutes our food arrived. Meanwhile, we had been nursing or had finished our drinks, without refills. Mid-meal, our server came by and said "How are we doing on drinks? Good, ok" and walked off. Then my daughter handed me her plate, for me to find a hair in her food!
