I've lived in this area for almost 30 years and had never been in here. My friend kept raving about it so we went for dinner. The spinach pie was pretty good. The serving was huge. The chicken kebab wasn't really a kebab. It was more like a stir fry. It was covered in so much sauce I couldn't taste anything but the sauce. The rice under the chicken and veggies was drowned in it so by the end of the meal it was pretty unpleasant. Don't know if I'd go here again for lunch or dinner, but maybe I'd try their breakfast coz it has a diner-like feel to it. read more

Starters they have anything you can think of when it comes to there menu options for everyone no limitations we were quite surprised that they had so many options and there price ranges and I tried their salmon crispy bacon burrito. Place was very busy. We ordered our food with no issues. Food took a long time for us to get our food. Once we got our food, my potatoes and waffle was cold. We wanted for awhile and never saw our waitress so we told one of the young gentlemen that our food was cold. Instead of giving us a new plate of food, off to the microwave our food went. So of course the waffle was no good after the microwave. My wife had the French toast and the one slice she got was cold along with the potatoes. It tells me that I was sitting foe a while explaining the long wait. Very pricey for breakfast! A cup of orange juice was $5 and each one of our meals were $18. Honestly, a 2.5/5. The atmosphere is nice, although a bit cramped, but they have good lighting and it's fairly clean. The service is not good though. Although I came here on a holiday, and they were supposedly shortstaffed, there didn't seem to be a process in place for the host and waiters. There was a lack of urgency from all employees that I saw, long wait times to take orders/give coffee and food, which either shows lack of care or poor management. The pricing on their menus didn't make much sense either, and their food was both lukewarm and small in portions. I urge management to take a close look at their menu and do a taste testing of their food, along with enact and enforce strict guide guidelines and processes for their employees; this place has potential, but either new management is needed or clear operating procedures. read more

So I know about this place but never went inside. About 7 years a go, at my job, we used to order lunch from them a lot and we loved their food. So this day was my dad's birthday and I was only going to be around in the morning and I had another breakfast place in mind but I remembered Montclair family restaurant and how I never tried breakfast food there before. I am glad we went there because my vegan father, the birthday man, he loved it. He said this is the freshest breakfast he's ever had at a restaurant. My mom loved her food too, she cannot stop talking about how good the food was. I loved my food too. We got the French toast sandwich, the breakfast sampler and some type of vegetarian omelet. They loved the breakfast potatoes. I couldn't eat mine because I forgot to ask if they put onions in the potatoes, I seen onions in there, I don't eat them. It was so many other things on the menu I wanted to try. We got the strawberry lemonade, I like that it wasn't overly sweet. This is a small restaurant, nice ambiance, very clean and cute. The staff there are polite. The food tasted fresh and portions are huge. We ended up taking food home. We don't eat pork and it was nice they were able to substitute for us. Unfortunately they have increased their prices to what I consider unreasonably high. $16 for 4 cups of coffee $4 for a side order of bacon. $99 for 4 to dine on pancakes and eggs just seems ridiculous. The delay in getting our food spanned 45 minutes. They used to be much quicker and cheaper. I guess we're back to WOKE Cracker Barrel where $65 still gets 4 hungry folks a decent breakfast. First time here. I thought the restaurant was surprisingly very clean. Our server I believe her name was Peggy. Very nice lady. The food was well cooked and well seasoned. Everything had good flavor. I especially loved the french fries they were well cooked and crispy. My mother did order a burger, but I forgot to take a picture of it. She said it was very tasty. My Son ordered the bacon mac & cheese. Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but it was very large. So he was able to have the rest of it for lunch the next day. The food at this restaurant is ok, but the service has gone down. First, when I was seated I received a limited menu so I had to ask for a full menu. This BLT really hit the spot for me. It was teeming with savory bacon and the lettuce was so crisp. It was perfect, just the way I like it. The service was good. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant. Only problem I have is the floor was quite slippery (probably from the grease since it was an open kitchen). There were a couple of times when we heard plates crash on the floor and made me wonder if it was due to the slippery floor. Now we know why, friendly faces, generous portions and outstanding food have set them up for success. Desserts galore greet you in a fridge as you walk in to an ole style diner feel. Rude Manager - Cursed at a customer who commented on the food My friend ordered an omelet with home fries and toast. The order arrived and the home fries were cool, the omelet tasted of spring onions and the toast had a huge amount of butter in the center of it that wasn't spread out. My friend could not eat the meal and informed the waitress that she couldn't eat it. My friend handed the plate back to the waitress and told her it was not edible. She asked if she could not be charged for it since she didn't eat it or be given a discount. The waitress asked and was told that she has to pay for it. She said she would pay and leave a bad review. On her way out, she spoke to the gentleman who was at the entrance. She believed him to be the supervisor or manager. Never got a chance to try the food. Arrived at 3pm on a Wednesday, looked around, saw about 6 customers n I figured my food would arrive quickly. Nope, I ordered a meatball parmesan and a glass of water. I got the water and waited, and waited, and waited. After 25 minutes I got up and left, never took a sip of water. On my way out I pass my waitress as she is sitting by the door. I tell her i have to go and she says "your food will be out soon". Are you kidding me. There's no one in here and i still haven't received my one sub and you never came by to tell me when my food was coming. She said she was new when i talked to her when taking my order. Just had the best chicken parm EVER! We sat on the patio with our golden retriever (Oatmeal), and Maria was our server. Maria was fantastic and even brought Oatmeal a few strips of bacon as a treat. The calamari was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all. My date got the half rotisserie chicken and said it was delicious (he made it disappear quickly). We stopped for breakfast one morning while heading south on 95 for a beach vacation. While looking for breakfast places online a lot of people mentioned how great it is. Overall, they weren't wrong. We would definitely go back... just maybe when it's not so busy (if that's possible). We had a short wait to be seated as it was busy inside. Maybe 10 minutes or so. They also have seating outside. It's fairly noisy inside but that gives it more of a small local diner vibe. The waitress took our order pretty quickly and brought our drinks. Then were waited. It took us about 35-40 minutes to get our food. So don't stop here if you're in a hurry (especially if it's busy). She brought mine and my husband's our first (I ordered a pancake breakfast combo and he got steak and eggs) but didn't bring our daughter's eggs Benedict. That took another 5 minutes at least before it came out. I noticed as we waited to start eating until my daughter's arrived that my bacon and home fries (fried potatoes) were not hot. In fact, not even warm. Which is frustrating. And not because of the wait. They can that way. My husband's steak and eggs and home fries were hot though so I suspect it was a timing issue that mine was one before his so it just sat there. When we were done eating it took awhile to get the check. Again, they were busy and we weren't in a huge hurry, but I did have to stand up and flag down our waitress to pay. She was apologetic though. As for the taste of the food, that's why I still have it four stars despite the long wait and mine no longer being hot. It tasted really good! You can tell it's all made right there and fresh. My eggs were re cooked perfectly (over easy) and the pancakes were great (I opted to get chocolate chips in mine): and I loved the home fries! I'm sure they would have been even better hot, haha. My husband also really enjoyed his steak and eggs. It was flavorful and cooked right and not some withered piece of meat you might get at some breakfast places. The eggs Benedict my daughter had were also good. Only minor issue there is the country ham was sliced VERY thick. Which to me throws off the whole ratio of bread to egg to meat. So overall happy with breakfast. I understand why it's so busy. Which is saying a lot with an iHop and its commercial draw right across the street. Just be patient. read more

I usually enjoy my breakfast here however today I was a bit let down. The waffles are normally the best part of my breakfast but not today. I ordered the big breakfast combo( waffle, eggs, bacon and home fries) everything on the plate was slightly warm and my favorite part(the waffle) well did not live up to what I previously knew. It was cold and hard like if sat in the pass bar waiting for the other items to get done and once the entire breakfast was complete; it sat longer. I know this for two reasons; I am a chef and my granddaughters pancakes were coping hot. So, needless to say I did not enjoy y breakfast but I enjoyed my company so I ate. The best part of the breakfast was watching my grand daughter enjoy her food. She said the best part were the chocolate chip pancakes and she felt that the hot chocolate was made especially for her because it had lots of whipped cream like she likes it. It appeared that my server had too many tables or was overwhelmed because she never checked on us as I would have informed her of the issues with my food. And the one server who did come by; just looked at us and said nothing. However, because of the joy that my granddaughter had; I will return again and hopefully be able to enjoy the waffle that has kept me coming back. read more

The Sausage Gravy was good and we both loved the fried potatoes. Portions were generous enough to share. I ordered the Waffle with over easy Eggs and Bacon. All were cooked perfectly! I got the Caramel Apple Cake to go and I was so glad I did! The yellow cake was moist with whipped cream between the layers and a surprise of small pieces of apple. The top and sides were frosted with the whipped cream and topped with a layer of mouth watering caramel! Devine!!! While we waited for our food my husband's coffee cup was never empty or having a chance at getting cold! Our server, Peggy, was very nice, polite, knowledgeable, and checked on us several times to make sure everything was OK or if we needed anything. She is a great server! This place doesn't disappoint whether you've been coming here for years or a recent visit! The staff, the owner and the food are excellent. When I come here, I like to get the Greek food because it taste good. The portion are generous and very filling. This time around I got a fish that I've never seen before at other restaurants and I was very intrigued. It sounds like a mix of spaghetti and tzatziki words in a bowl. When I got it, it did not disappoint. The pita bread came separately and warm. The bowl is huge, it's like having a burrito bowl but filled with Greek food. It had rice, salad, tzatziki, tomatoes, olives and I opted for the gyro. The meat was warm and so was the rice. The sauce, I can eat it in spoonful. Delish! My kids got lasagna, Mac n cheese and wings. They absolutely loved it. I also tried their octopus long time ago and that was tender. I recently visited MontClair Family Restaurant for the first time for breakfast. I sat at a table and waited for a server. They were a bit busy - so it was about 10 minutes before a server took my order. As usual, I inquired about the Corned Beef Hash to find out if it was scratch-made or the canned variety. The odds are it was going to be the canned variety - and so it was. So, I ordered 2 eggs over easy with breakfast potatoes, bacon, and a side of Corned Beef Hash. I inquired as to whether I could have both the breakfast potatoes and Corned Beef Hash crispy - they replied I could. Plus coffee and water. The food took about 20 minutes to come out - the kitchen was pretty busy when I arrived. The eggs were cooked properly, the bacon was crispy and tasty, and both the breakfast potatoes and Corned Beef Hash were crisped up. They gave me one of the larger portions of Corned Beef Hash that I've seen served in a diner. I added the mandatory black pepper and hot sauce to the eggs and Corned Beef Hash. It's your typical diner-style restaurant - serving good ole fashioned diner-grade breakfasts. Paid with Apple Pay. Service was good.
