My Uncle comes from San Diego every year for his birthday. His choice of place to eat is always Applebee's. This is the second year in a row that the staff here has forgotten even after being reminded. Last year at the last minute after a 3rd reminder they brought him a little dessert. Tonight we left with no acknowledgement even after letting the person who seated us know who said she would tell our server. She didn't tell our server but we reminded him 2 times. i rarely complain when i go to places like applebee's or chilis, because i know what i am getting myself into when i choose a chain restaurant like those. usually you just go for the atmosphere - the people are always friendly, the prices are okay, the food is good if not especially memorable... well for once an applebees really left an impression on me, and not a good one. some friends from out of town came to visit me and we went out to eat at applebees. our server basically acted like we were bothering her when we chose to eat in the bar where she was serving. when we called her over to ask if they could sub veggie burgers instead of beef, since we couldnt find it on the menu, she looked like she *resented* us calling her over to ask a question. the only time she smiled was when she brought me the wrong food item- i told her it wasn't what i ordered and she said "oops sorry!!" and was saccharin-sweet for one measly moment as she took away the wrong item. later, as i was catching up with these friends that i havent seen in half a year, she interrupted us to ask us if she could take our checks since she "wanted to enter her money and go home", so i stopped my conversation with my friend to pull out my wallet and remove my card and give it to her, the whole time thinking that she was the rudest waitress i have had in years. both my friends (who have both served for years) and i talked about how rude she was all the way to the car. i should add that i dont require a lot from a server for me to consider service good. i recognize that many servers are overworked, under paid, and a lot of stuff that can go wrong in a restaurant is out of there hands. literally, all i ask for is a good attitude. in this case, the restaurant was MORE than half empty, we were one of like two tables she had, and she still managed to make us feel totally ignored. No matter where you go for an Applebee's experience, it's going to be pretty much the same thing, same high calorie, fattening food. I came here because my mom chose it and it was convenient. I found the menu a little complicated with their lunch combo choices. I asked the server for some clarification which he did explain well but he got some of the details wrong on certain menu items. For example, the cajun shrimp pasta doesn't come with a heavy, creamy white sauce like he said it did. It made me glad to see that my entree came with a lighter sauce than what I expected. There are only 4 entree choices for the lunch combo and 2 of them are pasta, the other is fried chicken tenders (unless the server got that wrong too). Unless you go with a salad, just expect your lunch to be a high calorie and high fat meal. Between my mom and I, our bill for the 2 lunch combos came out to just under $20. The price isn't too bad. The service was mediocre. The food was average, not that much flavor. read more

It's very rare that I yelp and compliment good customer service. I'm a cancer survivor. I've had radiation to my face and neck. My speech is compelled and I'm hard of hearing. Our server brought over that manager, Nicole, to help us. She was the most patient and kind person... I have now gone 3x in past 2 years, I keep hoping that it gets better. But have decided that food is NOT very good. As others have said not much is healthy but also just doesn't taste that great unless fried(fish & Chips). We ordered a Long island ice tea & strawberry lemonade and we couldn't even tell which was which. We ordered only because it said 'TOP SHELVE" so this makes me think they are using top quality liquor to make this drink but couldn't even taste alcohol. We called our server & she told us she couldn't do anything about it that she had to get manager to approve her returning to bar for re-make. We were really shocked for her to say because it sounded like this wasn't possibly without mgr approval. She did come back & said her mgr was going to remake it herself. We'll 2nd drink was better but it was definitely not a "Top Shelf" drink. Even though they have a bar it just doesn't have a good bartender. This was on a Sat. evening you would think they would have a good bartender. But all said server was pretty good, she did come back several times. But that will be it for us both my husband & I think that we have given them 3 times & we still were not happy with the food. read more

So all those that know me know that I have NEVER complained about any of the Applebee's that I have ever gone to no matter where they are. Well there's a first for everything. Last night a friend and I went there to have those Mucho Margaritas and dinner. I had the Garlic Shrimp Caesar Salad and my friend had the new Garlic Spinach Salad. When the salads arrived the looked fine except that my friend's looked like a half of a half. It was a tiny serving. Then when I was enjoying my meal, I found a price tag/sticker in my salad. I told the server, who was actually really good and polite. She quickly told her manager but when he came over he didn't do anything about it. He actually made it seem as though this happens a lot. WTF? I'm used to the managers being embarrassed and buying the meal or at least offering something for free......here, nothing. I went here last night with my sister and my boyfriend and we had horrible service and they made my food wrong twice. My sister's food was wrong and after our waiter Carlos ignored use and then gave us dirty looks the manager had to wait on us the rest of the evening. Should have know better when they sat us at the back on a VERY small table near the bathrooms and when we asked the hostess to move us to a different table she froze and did not know what to do. Then when we received the plates for the appetizers they were dirty. Then we got one of the two ordered salads and the fork provided was dirty. Never did get the second salad ordered before the main course came out and we had not even started on appetizers. Will not go there again. read more

Beware: They call themselves a Neighborhood Bar & Grill but the price we paid for 3 appetizers and 2 Cocktails each, you would have thought we were in a Fine dining facility in Paris. We had what they call a long pour or a double Crown Royal with tea, a regular drink is 1.25 oz of liquor and the long pour is 2.00 oz so it's not even a double! Yet they charged us double the amount for each drink, $7.25 x 2 = $14.50 per drink. We have been to many locations in several different states and have never been billed that way. I really wished she mentioned their rip off pricing strategy first. We would have went to Costco and bought 2 of the 1.75 ltrs. and stayed home and flavored our wings better than they do, the Buffalo Bone in Wings were not traditional at all, someone had a hayday with the garlic and spices and forgot the Buffalo part. $ 100.00 lunch. I am a wife of three time war veteran. which has been diagnosed with level 5 PTSD. Has a hard time being around a lot of people which if you know of a vet which such disorder understand. well doing baby steps for years to try to overcome his fears. He wanted to go out to where he enjoys his favorite place applebees in turlock ca. and what best on veterans day, which I always have to get his food to go because he can't indure a lot of people around him without having an episode. which he is trying very hard to overcome. and knowing that he has to go in to get his veteran day meal, was very hard for him. so being the proud wife of my vet we went there. as we walked in he signed the board,which I was proud of him, as we we're waiting he just couldn't stay. so we wanted to just take his order to go. the young lady Ashli I believe was her name was said that it was dine in only, but she was gonna check with the manager. proud of my vet waiting at the entrance, starting to have slight panic attack but handling it very well. Ashli then came back and stated that manager said that it was dine in only no exceptions. But, Ashli apologized and said that she would pay for it for him. which was very sweet. but the point is how can a manager not allow a vet, with these issues not allow them to just take it to go! It wasn't the point about paying for a 12.00 meal. it was that my vet came along way to be able to walk in to order, show his vet I'd, and sign the board! To this manager at applebees in turlock ca you have no clue what a lot of these vets out there really go thru !! The issues that they have to overcome!! I came in 2 nights ago on the 21st of October, and I had a great time here. I sat in the bar where Frenchy was our waiter and he was amazing and the food was amazing. I would give it 5 stars, but I did have one problem with one of the managers. The tall blonde one with the black shirt and khakis was not helpful at all. She was constantly yelling at all of her employees in front of the customers and was allowing some man (who I would assume was her boyfriend) grope her inappropriately in front of everybody. There is a time and place for that, and while on the job is not that time. The restaurant was busy and while I constantly saw the other manager with the brown hair and light blue shirt helping everybody, the blonde one was constantly talking to the man whether it was arguing or what. After reading through several shocking reviews, I decided that it is absolutely necessary to enlighten fellow yelpies, and abolish any misconception that might arise while viewing statements made by a few obviously unfortunate individuals. My friends and I come to Applebee's at least 2-3 times per week, and our visit is ALWAYS nothing short of exceptional. From the food, ( buffalo wings, wonton tacos, or shrimp steak are my top choices) to the staff and cleanliness of the restaurant, this place is impeccable. We will continue to come back because this is a place where we can drink, relax, and joke around. Some of the WAITRESSES ( since most of the educated world knows that a female should definitely not be referred to as a WAITER) even know our names and what we like to order. My friends and I are involved in sales and customer service, and there is nothing that infuriates me more than a negative remark made by some underground fool trying to get something for free. Knowing that the public relies on recommendations made by recent patrons, I will openly and honestly declare that no one has ever been "rude" to us here. It could possibly be to due to the fact that we do not treat the staff like dumb animals. I see so many other customers yelling, and belittling these fantastic and hardworking people. To them I say shame on your parents for letting you slip through the cracks of teaching you basic social values, such as being courteous and polite. We appreciate your dull excuses for your shabby word vomit about this great place, and everyone has had a good laugh over your stupidity. We recommend that you kindly return yourselves back to the zoo or barnyard you emerged from. In closing, thank you to Applebees for being my favorite spot in this side of the 209. Great food for a chain. The service was excellent. Never had to ask for a refill. Every time we come to this Applebee's it's pretty good. I went to have dinner. The hostess said it would be a 10 to 15 min wait. Waited 40 plus mins , she called a person that was after us. Then was cleaning a table stating to a bus boy she was stressed there, hated it and couldn't wait for someone else to offer her a job at Starbucks because they have good benefits. After finally being called she said sorry for the wait and I said, well it's been about 40mins, not the 15mins you said to begins with. After waiting for even menus we were told by our waiter he would be right with us (no problem). But as we waited I noticed the same hostess taking to another bus boy and as she spoke they kept looking at my date and I. They finally noticed I was watching a immediately stopped talking and split up. Once I got in touch with a manager he did, to my knowledge handle the situation. At then end of it all, that hostess apologized, but admitted to speaking ill of us, but she was more-so sorry she got caught. read more

this may well could be the best restaurant in Turlock right now... the food is consistently good, the service is consistently friendly and helpful... the managers are on top of everything... last visit was this past weekend... mother in law hasn't been eating much since last hospital visit, and she wanted to go here (her favorite restaurant)... she ate very well, and had a great time laughing and tasting some really good food... the tomato basil soup is very good... the French onion soup is fantastic!!!... I had a burger with some variations, and they were happy to make the changes, and it was perfect!!!... the three of us will definitely go back, probably before the end of the month, simply because it's such a great experience to go to this restaurant... thank you for all the staff, that strives so hard to make our experience great!!! read more

Horrible customer service. The server brought out the wrong drinks twice. He apologized and corrected it which was acceptable. We then waited 30 minutes after finishing our drinks just for the server to pass by our table to check if we were ok. We ordered different drinks and I was brought out orange juice instead of a peach sangria. The server took it back and said he'd contact a manager. The manager asked what was wrong and I simply let him know the drink that was brought out to me was wrong. Instead of apologizing and taking it off my tab he decided to antagonize me and say it was correct and that they follow a recipe so it had to have been right. I let it go and just didn't order anything else that night. My party then had to wait another hour before we were able to pay our bill. I've had bad customer service before and this by far has been the worst. The bald manager with the orange facial hair should be fired. I won't be returning. read more
