So, of course, when the freezer complained this morning, I called them again to gentle my old beauty into more service. Mike made the same argument -- we can fix it. No need to replace it. Mike being Russian put a philosophical spin on the POV while solving the problem . It was not inexpensive--just shy of $1,000. Compared to the cost and uproar of replacing a fridge, I have to see this as good fortune. A muscular Petros Appliance tech at first gently replaced the filter, BUT upon repeating the filter insertion appear to use so much force that it caused water filter connection to break - spilling water all over on the floor. The technician blamed me-a weak 5-foot women who knew forcing this filter would cause an expensive break. After the technician broke our Sub-Zero filter connection, this incompetent tech charged $599 on 2nd visit for this repair. He messed up this repair- as the ice machine stopped working (water did not enter the filter). He blamed the Sub-Zero supplier for sending the wrong part. He ordered another part, and the ice maker was still broken. Finally, upon being asked to refund $599 for a failed repair, he sabotaged the filter (stripping all parts leaving things empty).
