As any parent knows, illnesses and emergencies do not happen on a schedule. Children can become sick at any time, and sometimes there is simply no way to provide additional notice. Despite explaining the situation, I was still charged a $50 cancellation fee. When I spoke with the bookkeeper, Gladys, there was no willingness to consider the circumstances or show any flexibility. I was told that the fee could not be waived or reimbursed, regardless of the reason. What makes this especially disappointing is that this is a facility that works with children, including autistic children. Families caring for children with special needs often face unexpected challenges, illnesses, sensory overload, and meltdowns that cannot always be predicted within a strict cancellation window. I would expect a therapy center serving these families to show more understanding and compassion. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling like the policy mattered more than the well-being of the children and families they serve. Rather than feeling supported, I felt like just another number being charged a fee. As a result, today was my last session with this facility. I will be taking my business elsewhere to a therapy provider that values families, understands real-life circumstances, and prioritizes children over profits. However, my interaction with their administrative staff this morning left me wondering how many other parents/families experience the same interaction I had. I hate to leave businesses these type of reviews, but here my experience goes! I placed my son on the wait list several months ago after reading all of the wonderful Yelp reviews and this being so close to home. As we all know, there is such a high demand for speech services, so I was extremely glad that I was able to even place him on their wait list. Well, today I received a call from their facility. I was given the option of enrolling my son into two sessions (Thursday in the afternoon and Friday at 8am). I do understand that I selected the open availability selection, but seriously, 8am? That's the time I start work. Anyway, I didn't mention that to the admin lady. I asked her if I can give her a call back in five minutes. She proceeds to tell me, "I mean, I'm going down the list of parents who stated they have an open availability spot, so you can call me back, but this is a first come first serve type of spot." Or whatever she said at the end. Then she stated, "Open availability means you can come at anytime." Now, this irritated me because why would you try to be condescending? I also needed to consult the time with my husband given we work two different schedules and needing to confirm Friday at 8am would work for him. I would've also had to notify my supervisor who is extremely supportive. But, after she stated that I gave an attitude back and told her to remove my son from the waitlist then I hung up. I'm very disappointed given I felt this could've worked if she would've allowed me to confirm scheduling with 1. My husband and 2. My employer, however there wasn't much grace there which resulted in how the conversation ended. I hope your experience is better than mine! My nephew is in the Progressive Steps Program, and it has been an amazing experience for our…read morefamily. The program provides therapy for child development, including OT and speech therapy, and it has truly helped my nephew so much. When he first started the program, he didn't speak a single word. Now he is talking a lot more and is able to express himself, which has been incredible to see. The progress he has made shows how much care and effort the team puts into helping every child grow and develop. We also attend a group class once a week, and it's wonderful. It's a great opportunity for the kids to interact, learn together, and continue building their skills in a supportive environment. The teachers, Stephanie and Justin, are the best. They are patient, kind, and truly dedicated to helping the children succeed. I honestly love all the teachers there -- they create such a warm and positive place for the kids. I highly recommend the Progressive Steps Program to any family with children who may be experiencing developmental delays. It's a truly special place that helps children find their voice and reach their potential.

Surgery was so much easier than expected! He did such a great job I felt NO pain afterwards..I didn't even take 1 Tylenol. I had no nausea no bruising..I had tons of energy 3 hours after surgery. The app/portal doesn't list all of my appointments and there's no way to communicate with my doctors (even though they told me to communicate with them through the app/portal). When I leave a message with the front office for the doctor, the doctor doesn't get the message, etc. The front office seems to change personnel frequently and whenever I have to call them because I can't get the information in the system and there's no way to communicate in that app/portal they have, it's a long hold time and a 15-20 minute call. It's extremely frustrating, time-consuming, it seems like the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing over there. I don't understand why they can't get their front office trip together. I tolerate it because I like the doctors I see there...the three I see are all wonderful. But the administrative arm of that practice needs some serious revamping.

At this point, it's almost laughable! Appointments (especially with any specialists) are now booked four months or more out. I scheduled a first-time consultation with Dr. Sofia Avitia for 12/26/2025. I made this appointment back in September! Then, on Wednesday 11/26 I received a call in the afternoon informing me that the doctor would not be available on 12/26 and that I would need call to reschedule. When I called them back on Monday 12/1 after returning home Thanksgiving vacation, I was told the next available appointment was March 6th!!! Keep in mind, I'm seeking this appointment because I'm having swallowing issues. So after scheduling in September, I now cannot be seen until March, which comes out to reaching a six-month window. This is exactly why I say the scheduling situation has almost become laughable and completely unacceptable. I went ahead and grabbed the March 6 appointment just in case I cannot find another doctor sooner, but given my symptoms, I have no choice but to search for someone who can see me within a reasonable amount of time. Considering the inconvenience, I expected at least some level of priority, but instead I felt like I was treated as if I were calling to make an initial appointment all over again. What is really going on at Facey? It is now almost impossible to make any appointment at a reasonable time. I honestly believe they will soon reach a six month scheduling window, which is crazy.

My experience with this office genuinely felt punitive, negligent, and unethical. My therapist…read moremoved here from another office, and I decided to stay with her. To start, I was told that they record every session and use an AI service to take notes, and I felt really uncomfortable by that. I told them how uncomfortable it made me, and they kept pressuring me to accept their AI note taking service. I repeatedly expressed discomfort, but was repeatedly encouraged to consent to it. Then they told me their insane attendance policy. If you have to miss two sessions in a month, they drop you as a client, no exceptions. I was told it doesn't matter if there's an emergency or something urgent, you're dropped. And it only works one way. There were times my therapist would ask me to reschedule my session for something she needed to do, I would say I'm not free at the times she asked, and she would say "oh well that's fine, this just counts as your one per month." So my therapist would need me to adjust my schedule, and I'm the one having it count against me because I can't just drop my entire schedule to accommodate. I once brought this up, and we legitimately spent over HALF a session talking about their billing and attendance practices. I honestly got billed for a session, where we spent a majority of the time talking about their billing practices. I was billed to talk about being billed! But the part that was most galling happened recently. I was working with my therapist through an incredibly unsafe working condition, and she agreed that I am generally unsafe at my workplace and need to find another place to work immediately, since it's impacting my physical health. Only I had job interviews that were scheduled during our sessions. I would reach out proactively to try to reschedule, and would just get a blanket "I don't have any other availabilities." No offer to move things around, no offer to make things up, just nothing. During one of those times, I actually texted her that I could still make my session, only to get NO response. So naturally they count this as my one cancellation per month. Then I had another promising interview reach out, but the only time they were free overlapped just barely with our session. Again, I reached out two days in advance per their policy, only to get told "I don't have any available time." I asked if we can move it, if we can make it up another day, no response until the next morning with another cold "Just let me know I you can make the session." It really felt like my therapist was just doing everything she could to avoid any responsibility for the situation, and trying to put it on me. She texted me back asking me to attend the session and show up late to a JOB INTERVIEW, and said the reason was so they could see me for enough of a session to bill for it. Their admin reached out to me about something and I responded back regarding this, and they just legitimately had no perspective whatsoever. First I spoke to an individual who said "oh well why don't you reschedule?" I said I would love to but my therapist told me she couldn't. Then they said it was "my choice whether to attend the session or not." I told them they're telling me to either skip my job interview or be discharged as a client, and she tried to claim they weren't saying that, but that they would discharge me as a client if I missed the session. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the front desk manager called me. She had the nerve to ask me, at 5:30 in the afternoon on Thursday, if I could call and reschedule my job interview scheduled for Friday morning. What on earth are you smoking that you think this is an appropriate thing to ask someone to do? I asked if there's a way I could attend the session and leave a little early, and she said "no, you need to be there for the full 60 minutes." Which I told her was absolutely news to me, because my therapist would regularly end our sessions at 50 minutes each time. She said she would call me back to see if I could be discharged from my therapist and transferred to another, since she's going on leave next month anyway. And instead I just got an email from my therapist the next day saying I was discharged as a client, and given referrals to mental health clinics that serve the unhoused. I was told to do everything I could to leave an abusive and bad situation, then discharged as a client for taking the EXACT steps to do so! Their practices are entirely punitive, negligent, and unethical. I plan on reporting them to the state licensing board based on their behavior and policies

My most recent therapist Gina Collins encouraged me to try EMDR therapy the last 2 years and this form of care completely transformed my therapy experience and alleviated some deeply rooted trauma, some of which I wasn't aware I was harboring. I'm so grateful for all of the staff and their support with scheduling, rescheduling and matching me with my care team. I cannot not recommend the therapist at Valencia Relationship Institute enough, they are qualified, professional, encouraging and accessible with in person and telehealth.

I truly never knew how much growth I could have going to therapy since I had different experiences outside of VRI .
