At age 4, he spent his Pre-K year in the 40hour/week ABC Inc program that we were fortunate to have my daughter's insurance cover the majority of the cost. From day one, he loved attending everyday and never complained about participation in all the 1:1 and group activities with his Behavioral Technicians. He not only benefitted from the individually-designed behavioral ABA approach of ABC Inc but all four of us adults met monthly for two hour training sessions led by Laura Bourgeois, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst BCBA Supervisor, who helped us learn and practice behavioral strategies designed to meet the very specific needs of our grandson. She also reviewed his progress at each meeting since the last one. Part of the program is a "mock school," which helps the kids learn to prepare for Kindergarten. After his first year at ABC, Inc. he was ready to attend a mainstream public school Kindergarten class. His second year at ABC, Inc consisted of a part-time ABA after school program (daily 2-4:30pm) which was a continuation of his previous year's program with the additional focus of teaching strategies for success in public kindergarten. As part-time caretakers, my husband and I (along with our grandson's parents) benefitted from the insights of the BCBA Supervisor (Laura) and were able to discuss our personal concerns in a safe and supportive environment. After two years we have seen our grandson make great strides in his social and communication skills. At the end of the second year, Laura acquainted us with local community support services and resources we could tap into so that his growth can continue as he moves into a summer program, First grade, and beyond. As another reviewer noted, this program's staff are honest, caring and knowledgeable about ABA practice and armed us with the skills we need to continue to help him meet his evolving behavioral goals.
