The day I was there, it seemed like all the stuff had been HEAVILY picked over, like it had all been there for months on end. The worst of the worst. I methodically looked through every single item (which I always do, because I feel like if I don't look at everything, I'll miss that "magic item"). I usually spend 30-90.00 buying things from every category. Not one thing from any dept worth buying! Are people not donating there any more? We walk in and was immediately greeted. Nice. The store is very open and clearly separated by department. Everything is neatly organized and the store is clean. I didn't see any broken items or messy areas. There is a clothing menu that is priced according to type and not necessarily the brand so that can be hit or miss. While browsing, we had another employee sincerely greet us as well. Very kind. I liked that there was not obnoxious music playing or too loud. It was normal and at a low level. Even though the store was somewhat sparse, we managed to buy 5 items. I assume that since they are new, still waiting for donations. Prices are fair and less than what Goodwill charges. The other ding is that the clothing racks and sizing are non-sensical. Typically you size your racks going left to right or clockwise. The size ring should be in front with the corresponding size to the right of it and THEN it should snake to the other side like a figure 8 until you reach the end. I could not figure out where my size was because it would be on the right of the ring in one aisle but on the left of it on the next aisle. It got so confusing that I gave up. They must not have a real merchandiser on staff? Anyway, it was an overall positive experience and all of the employees was truly pleasant and kind.

Another "Healthy" plant bites the dust…read more This is a follow up to a previous post of my experience at Rail City, which has a horrible return/exchange policy and does not give veterans discounts. I've purchased several $ thousand of plants at the nursery over the past 8 years. I bought 3 potentilla scrubs in April at Rail City. These are sun loving plants that were kept in the shade at the nursery. They were planted in mild weather and consistent with planting instructions provided by the nursery. All dropped their leaves within the first week. One never recovered and a second one died this week, which on examination had no root development despite beginning kept in moist, well drained soil and in full sun for nearly 4 months. I wonder how long these two deceased plants were kept in a 5 gallon container, crammed together in the shade? Some of branches were the diameter of my little finger. I went to another nursery today and bought a second replacement. I didn't even bother calling Rail City, whose owner was so unhelpful with the first dead plant. The replacement is a beautiful plant that has kept in full sun with plenty of room to thrive. It cost about 2/3 of what I paid at Rail City.

He proceeded to tell me that every location carried their own product. (How stupid did he think I was) he then asked me if I had an I number like it was my job to know it!! Got to the cashier- She said because the two went marked she would not do the 50% off-yet I had a photo of the one I purchased last week.. So disappointing as we have never had any problems.. Ended up with one clearance plant.staff needs to be more diligent marking the plants.. Those plants will end up dying and could if went to a good home..

He received all the help he needed, but my experience was completely different. The moment I picked up an item in the camping aisle and handed it to my husband, who was carrying the basket, I noticed employees watching me. One employee kept their eyes on me for over 10 minutes. It got to the point where I had to make eye contact and stare back because I felt so uneasy. As a brown Asian customer shopping with my Caucasian husband, I couldn't help but feel like I was being singled out. The employees were constantly talking on their radios while watching me. They may have thought they were being subtle, but it was obvious. Whether intentional or not, I was left feeling as though I was being treated like I was stealing, and it completely ruined my shopping experience. No customer should leave a store feeling singled out or uncomfortable. This happened roughly 2-3 weeks ago, and I haven't been back since. Even though the store is only about a minute from my house, I refuse to shop there again. There are plenty of other places that know how to treat customers with respect.
