His crew used a mechanical trenching machine that broke my sewer line, and rather than informing me, they covered it up with bricks, gravel, and dirt, leading to major plumbing failures over time. Upon further investigation, I discovered that The Nashville Handyman is not licensed to perform this type of work, which is illegal in Tennessee under T.C.A. § 62-6-503. The law states that unlicensed contractors may be held liable for treble damages--triple the actual repair costs. Even after being presented with undeniable evidence, they refused to fully take responsibility for the damages they caused. If you care about your home and finances, avoid this company. Always hire a licensed and reputable contractor instead.

I was trying to get someone out ASAP, that's why I failed to heed the negative reviews for this company. Charles Huff was able to go out the next day. He looked at the dryer and called me for payment via credit card that day, as agreed. Literally 2-3 weeks later, I'm camping with my son for his Fall Break. When we get back in cell range I have over a dozen texts and at least 5 calls (all over the course of a holiday weekend). Apparently, Mr. Huff had messed up in charging my card (according to his messages) and now 2-3 weeks later needed to get in contact with me to get my zip code. That in itself was not a problem, but over the course of 48 hours the tone of the calls rapidly disintegrated. From a "need some information" to a screaming "I'm going to sue you and charge you $500 for all the trouble you are putting me through." Complete crazy person! He also wanted to charge me a different amount than he'd originally stated - now it was $60 v. the $50 he originally quoted. I texted him back as soon as I got the messages and reminded him that I needed an invoice for my taxes. I got just an email titled "Here's the invoice you never asked for". I am not even kidding. I paid him as agreed on the day of service. If he forgot to put the card though or had trouble, well that happens. But don't blame it on your customer and literally threaten them and demand $500 because they are not immediately available on a holiday weekend! Also, just don't be crazy, period.
