I'm not really sure how to feel about this nail salon. I don't hate it, but I'm not in love with it. I got a pedi, an acrylic full set with the coffin shape, and an eyebrow wax. I think overall, I like the look of my nails and my brows. They worked fairly quickly without seeming like they were in a rush. They man that did my nails was pretty funny. They try to up-sale you on everything. I asked for regular polish on my acrylic nails, and they said it would chip. So they convinced me to get the gel. (I usually only use gel when I'm doing my natural nails.) They also charged me extra for the length of my nails. (I didn't think they were long enough to charge an extra fee, but I'm not a nail tech, so.) The man that did my nails did cut the side of my fingers a bit. I walked in for a mani pedi and was blown away with the quality. The salon is clean and the service was incredibly quick and affordable. I started with bright red dip powder and dark green gel, they did a great job removing the previous colors entirely and deep cleaning the area before applying more gel. Dont do it! I thought i was desperate to get my nails done but i should have read reviews and skipped out. First, mom wanted her (dipped) nails to be filed. The guy laughed and said he couldnt do it. I found this comical because every other nail spot she goes to, does it. I insisted and after telling us no several times he agreed. Its jot that they dont do it its that he didnt want to do it. My manicure. $25 for regular nails. The problem is not the coat its his attitude! While the woman owner is nice, he is absolutely horrible. First, he asked me "round or square" so i replied nicely "square but dont worry if they are not even because i know some are broken" - i was barely done with my sentence and he said "i just asked you if square or round" .. he was basically shutting me up because i talked too much to his taste. I answered him, "as i said before, square please". He then began to do my nails and for some reason he did not like the way that my thumb on both hands was positioned so he laughed and tapped it like a child and said "stop it". I said nothing because i preferred to ignore him but he laughed at me again for the second hand. I glared at him and told him "i am not positioning my thumb in any particular way.. its naturally bent that way", he didn't like the response. What was worst was the lack of cleanliness. This place was gross. 13 chairs and two employees both of whom are owners. They use the same nasty files, scissors, etc for everyone.. they are not individually packaged.. they have been used 100 times before. The counters they do nails on have not been cleaned in months. The area where you go to was your hands (because they dont bring you warm wet towels to cleanse hands) is nasty!!! The small towels are stained and look like they are 25 years old. There is also a very disgusting green rug on ground where you can see the dust on it. I didn't even want to dry my hands. The "massage" was two minutes max and did not feel like anything. Overall the owner was rude (not the wife), and the lack of cleanliness makes me want to throw up. Even the chairs we were sitting on, were greasy and so ild they looked like they were going to crumble. read more

Every time you go he will make up a higher price off the top of his head and the price won't even make sense based on the services you get and the prices they have posted in the salon. They got me in quickly, shaped my nails beautifully and did a great job with the dip polish and tips. I've already gotten two compliments and I just got them done tonight. I am staying in NOLA for a conference and I called April Nail and Spa to see if they could accommodate a pedicure, they asked what time and I said I could be there in 10 minutes and they said OK. I walked in and they were ready for me and immediately attended to my feet. The nail tech took gentle care and was provided attention to detail. If I stay nearby again I will definitely come back. Stopped in because I needed to get my nails done before the conference started - this place was walking distance from the Roosevelt Hotel. The hotel recommended this place that was about 5 minutes away walking. We didn't have an appointment and it was 3 of us but they were able to accommodate us all. I had to get a manicure and pedicure a fix and a fill LOL I needed it all. The place was small, it seemed pretty clean. The staff was kind, didn't talk much to any of the customers though. They kinda just did their job and avoided the small talk. I'm used to nail techs talking to me, asking where I'm from, smiling and engaging conversation with their customers. Nonetheless, we needed our nails done BAD so we kept ourselves company with our own conversation. While getting my pedicure done I notice he had kinda scraped the side of my foot when removing the dead skin. He looked at it and put it back in the water. I didn't complain because I honestly didn't feel anything at the time. The water was hot and the bubbles were flowing. Anyway he finished up with my feet and did a great job on my nails including the repair. I was in love with my new color. My total was $70 dollars I was like geesh but I guess I need the works! Whatever, I even left a tip! When putting my shoe on I noticed my foot was a little red from the scrap but didn't seem like much to complain about. We had to head off to our meeting and to add to that it was pouring rain outside. We had no umbrella and we had walked there! OMG right! We had no choice so we had to hit the walk back in the rain! My foot was starting to sting as soon as we got inside the hotel. I took my shoe off a noticed I was bleeding and the little scratch was more like a chunk of skin missing from my foot....No Exaggeration (see photo)! So although my pedicure looked great and my nails looked awesome he never acknowledged that he may have hurt his customer. No bandaid....nothing! I'm going to call them as soon as they open and request to speak to Mike that was the manager and the person who did my pedicure. I will gladly forward the picture if needed. Now where is the Neosporin? Soooo I spoke to the manager and he honestly thought I was ok. He did remember me and he remembered scrapping my foot. He apologized and said thanks for letting him know. Oh Did I mentioned the convenience of the location? It's in the French Quarter, which is the closest walking distance to everything. I can buy a drink down the street on Bourbon and bring it here and enjoy my drink while getting my pedicure done. They recently carried this new organic mani and pedi that I have always heard of. I got married in New Orleans in september and I came to April's Spa & Nails for a wax, pedicure, and manicure. Clean, modern, and pleasant surrounding. I booked an appointment ahead of time since I had 6 brides maids with me! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, not to mention funny! The pedicure was one of the best i've had. They used this green gooey salt scrub on my legs (the lady told me it was for exfoliation) that felt amazinggggg. They have great deals, and the bride also gets a complementary paraffin wax, which left my hands and feet feeling amazingly soft. They took great care of us and everyone left happy with their toes and nails. I especially loved the way they shaped my brows. I'm definitely coming back the next time i'm in town. If you must come here only get a polish change or refill. This was the most painful Mani pedi I've ever had. Not remotely relaxing. I was relieved when my cuticles finally bled because it signaled what my many winces and repeated "that's too hard" comments could not. Is it possible to give a nail salon any more than a single star if you end up leaving with two of your nails bleeding? Well, this is what happened to me at this place during an otherwise wonderfully memorable Thanksgiving week in New Orleans. While the manager who did my pedicure did a meticulous job, she failed to acknowledge the incompetence of one of her staff and to apologize for said incompetence. Instead, she provided a litany of excuses and even attempted to blame me for the mishap. First, it was that my cuticles were difficult to see. Well, I've probably had my nails done 500 times in the last 10 years, and no one has ever made them bleed before. Second, it was that I insisted I was running late and compelled the staff to do my manicure in a poorly lit part of the salon. Again, maybe the problem is that the salon is not equipped to do manicures and pedicures simultaneously, which does not bode well in terms of efficiency. Plus, I had to wait 15 minutes with my feet in lukewarm water before someone finally came over and started working on my nails. Had the manager demonstrated the professionalism and common courtesy inherent in mouthing a simple apology, I may have bumped up the rating or else not written a bad review at all. However, her attitude and response of intentionally not taking responsibility for one of her staff having effectively hurt me and caused me physical pain (my fingers were bleeding, and I have photos to prove it) was just entirely unacceptable. And hence, I would not recommend this place to anyone under any circumstances whatsoever. Sorry ladies, but New Orleans deserves better than this. After all, I went there to have my nails done, not to have surgery performed on my fingers. read more

They butchered my nails! I went to get a color change and asked them to shorten the length a little. The man made my nails were sooooo short, beyond the tips of my fingers....way too short. They were on angles, the polish was is wearing off and its only been 3 days. Didnt use enough of the top coat. They try to apply as thin a coat as possible. I looked on yelp for a reasonably pricined nail salon and found this one (most others were $45, and this place was $27). I came in at 4:30pm on a Saturday and I got seated immediately without an appointment. They were fairly busy though, already 5 technicians were with customers. I got a pedicure here and it took about 40 minutes. It was relaxing and chill. The technician was detailed and meticulous, she used a scrub and gave me a little massage on my feet and lower legs.
