I wanted natural nails with varying lace looks across my nails for my wedding day. She hand-painted them absolutely perfectly! I was so impressed, I teared up. They were beautiful, and I received so many compliments, not to mention they stayed on for a month! The vibe at Gold en Fileis is very chill and chic. It feels relaxed but fun. The white-and-gold elements throughout, the gold Buddhas, and the hanging chandeliers create a cohesive brand look and feel. It was clean and inviting. Just got my nails done in NOLA for the first time! I went to Golden File upon my friend's recommendation and I am so glad they did. Unfortunately, I had to choose a green color for my manicure in theme for my friend's bachelorette party but my manicurist Trey did an amazing job by making green look pretty with a cat eye design (extra $15). To book with Golden File, they request you to book online and ask you to pay for a 50% deposit. They also assign you a manicurist at the time of booking so you are guaranteed someone will be working with you during your set appointment. I really appreciate their strong scheduling system as I can't stand when I make an appointment at a nail salon and they don't actually keep the appointment time. The staff is also all so friendly and nice. They offer drinks (water, wine, Viet coffee, etc.) and snacks while you are getting your nails done. There is also a phone stand next to you to keep you phone propped up to doomscroll if you please. It's all the little touches like this that I really appreciated! read more

I booked with Shelly, a senior nail tech. It did take quite a while to get my appointment confirmed--the only downside of my experience. The salon is very clean. I was greeted as I walked in and only had to wait momentarily. I was offered a beverage--they have both adult options and water and soft drinks. My pedicure was outstanding. But... the 2nd time, I was going to a BIG event. I made an appointment, but Nancy was unavailable. They recommended me to someone. I walked in without an appointment and they were able to get me one a few hours later as I was returning home early the following day. I wanted high detail, expressive, and unique nail design, each nail different, and one hand representing the culture of New Orleans and the other, the Mardi Gras season. I had an idea of what I wanted and it was extremely complex and the nail artist was not comfortable attempting it due to the style. since I was more looking for the meaning and intention behind them, I asked her do her own interpretation. she spent 4 hours and finishes with more details and intricate detail then I could have asked for. All in all, it was a great and very positive experience, warm atmosphere, and very easy to work with staff. I really don't have a single negative thing to even find to nitpick even if I wanted to and they even stayed late after closing to finish mine as well as take these pictures! I think the spa was overall clean, and well kept. Staff were friendly. The foot massage could have been better maybe if they added a reflexology aspect to it. The deep tissue massage was much better. They definitely were better with the amount of pressure they applied. Overall I'd return, and try their services again. I didn't have time to get my nails done at home and was on a business trip in New Orleans so made an appointment as it was close to my hotel. They were super accommodating as I was coming straight from the airport. They held onto my luggage and offered me a drink when I arrived. Han did my nails and since I came a bit late, I wasn't sure if I was able to get chrome added on but she happily accommodated. I've been looking to get the glazed donut look for a while now but just didnt really have the time to sit and get my nails done. I went to Golden File Nails on Wednesday, June 15 for a full set. I few minutes into my service, I realized there were some issues. Let me start by saying I didn't/don't have any problems with my nail tech, for that reason, I will not name her. Everything was fine, I was greeted and had a short wait before my service. I'd been conversing with the nail tech via social, so she already knew what I wanted. I requested a long, full set. The nail tech measured the nails and cut them according to what they consider long. The nails were clearly not "long" so I asked her about it. She said, that the owner makes them measure them by a certain guide and she showed me said guide. I was a bit bothered because clearly the nails weren't long, but knew it wasn't her fault or policy. I liked my nails, so that helped a little. I ended up paying 126.50 (including an $11 tip) for a medium length full set, with very simple designs. A week and two days later, my nails are lifting. So, I reached out to the tech and asked if they guaranteed their work because my nails were lifting. She said, the only way they cover repairs is if the nails fall completely off in three days, otherwise I'd have to book a two week refill for nails that are a week old and already lifting. I told her I understood and wasn't upset with her. I called the salon and yes, I was upset and receptionist restated their "policy." I was told that, "Many things can cause nails to lift. Did I have my hands in a lot of water?" I expressed that I've never had nails to lift in a week. He kept going and said, I was taking it a place it didn't need to go. Well, maybe so but if I'm paying $126 for a set of nails (that aren't long or intricately designed) I expect the work to be quality and guaranteed at least for a reasonable amount of time. I'm not cheap by a long shot but after seeing their "length guide," it seemed a bit unreasonable and now to find out they don't guarantee their work, is beyond ridiculous. Then, I was blocked from making online appointments (I only know that because I was calculating the services and seeing how much a refill costs, which is $85). Blocking me wasn't necessary, as I'll never step foot in there again. Again, I don't mind paying for quality services but clearly nails lifting after a week (and no, my hands are not always in water) is not quality. I admit, I could've handled the telephone conversation better and I didn't have to hang up on the man. I was frustrated and it wasn't my finest hour. read more

I received a recommendation from a friend to try Golden File as they'd just opened taking over Dudley DeBossier's space on St Charles and Calliope. I checked out their Instagram, and they looked like the perfect fit for what I was looking for. I walked in on a Wednesday evening, but they were booked for the evening due to being short staffed and asked me to come back, so I booked an appointment for the following day. Upon walking in, the place is super luxe! Chandeliers, wood flooring, full length mirrors, nail polish walls, and their pedi chairs are raised so the techs can stand instead of bending down. Golden File is family owned, and I too feel like family whenever I walk in. They make genuine conversations, and I always look forward to my next service! Poor customer experience! Have been several times with overall good results but today was a flop. We booked mani/pedi appointment for two of us today. Even though we are regulars and appt was just booked yesterday they collected a deposit to confirm. OK. Pedi was good but when finished we waited at the front for the mani and were then told they had no appointment for us. After checking they said they had no options and we could call back to schedule for another day. New staff probably needs more training as the lack of accountability or any effort to make it right were obvious and only made the situation worse. We left disappointed and fortunately NAIL BAR Nola booked us in 45 minutes. NAIL BAR NOLA, just a few blocks away was a totally different experience! Friendly, welcoming and conversational... we immediately felt at home. They did a great job and we will definitely be back. As for Golden File....meh. Mistakes happen. We get that. instead of arguing and being defensive, OWN IT, apologize and FIX IT. Telling us to call back to reschedule when we were standing in front of you is unacceptable. I was able to get a gel pedicure as soon as they opened at 9:30AM on a Friday by adding myself to the waitlist online. Peter took care of me and it was one of the best pedicures I've ever had. I stand 10+ hours a day at work and he gave the best massage with just the right amount of pressure. My feet feel brand new like I'm walking on a cloud. I've followed her from previous spas because she's so good. She's absolutely meticulous. She notices and cares about every detail. Her technical knowledge and mastery of how to correctly apply dip is very thorough. My nails look amazing and last 3+ weeks every time, and look great until my next appointment. Also, the selection of dip colors is bonkers - she has the best selection in NOLA. She's also a talented nail artist if that's your thing too. 2. A serene setting. The spa is set up in a way where the pedicure stations are set back from the front of the shop and the activity happening there, so you can really relax and chill out. The pedicure area is lovely, with luxe and comfortable chairs and natural lighting. 3. Clean and welcoming. Everything is meticulously maintained and everyone always makes me feel welcome and appreciated as a customer. 4. Good location. Right on the edge of the CBD/LGD and right off the highway, the location is really convenient to access from a variety of places and I love that it's easy to fit into my day. This was THE BEST nail experience I've ever had hands down. As someone who is always wanting the latest nail trends, Jane can do it all! She's an artist! I had previously gotten acrylic nails done at a different salon that were horrible, in so many ways, and Jane took her time taking them off properly and pointing out proper techniques along the way to ensure I understood what good products and procedures look like. The edges around my nail beds are perfection, the acrylics are perfection, the design I asked for on my nails are perfection. I can confidently say that my actual nails feel healthy, as well, despite the common opinion that when you have acrylics it destroys your actual nail. Jane made sure of this!
