Canceling Aptive has been way harder than dealing with the ants. I've been a customer for several years and tried to cancel about a month ago. The agent told me my card was removed (it wasn't) and said I couldn't cancel yet because I was on auto-renew -- I was told to call back at the beginning of the year. So I did. And that's when the fun really started. I emailed the address they list for support -- turns out it's no longer monitored. I was told to send "written notice" to another email, which then replied that they don't handle cancellations. I was told to call instead... except live agents were out for the New Year holiday. All this while I'm getting texts about a future service appointment that I'm actively trying to cancel. Every path leads to a dead end. Email says call. Call says no one's available. Another email says they don't do cancellations. Meanwhile, service is still scheduled. If you're thinking about Aptive, just know that signing up is easy -- getting out is not. At this point, I'm honestly not sure who the bigger pest is: Aptive or the ants. read more

Good luck trying to cancel, I've been trying to for months. I don't even live at the property anymore!!!!! They came to my house on 12/10, charged my card on 12/18 $116.60 for the next service and then never came. Charged my card last night, 1/16 $116.60 even though they never came after 12/18. I called this morning to try and cancel AGAIN and he basically told me no, and that they'll give me 2 free services. So I paid $233.50 for a random family in my old home to have two free services. Now I have to go into my bank today and close the account so these people can't steal more money from me. I'd rather have ants than deal with these bottom feeder people. He also said I'm paying for a 24 month service, 3 visits/year when they've been coming monthly since June. read more

Young sales guy riding on a Segway has been harassing our whole Polo Fields neighborhood through this weekend. Doesn't take no for an answer even after I delivered my wife from his clutches and then tried to flatter me to get around it. Absolutely unprofessional, and I'm starting to think it's the company policy. He hasn't shown his permit when asked and has ignored "No Soliciting" signs and is in breach of the city ordinance. He exposed the company's objectives when I refused and he offered a new price. Instead of the $180 times 7 treatments per year totaling $1,260 turned into a new offer of $500 for the whole year. I just cancelled my contract with them, and was glad to do it. About a year ago, a sales rep from Aptive was going door to door, and they must have caught us at just the right moment, with perfect timing, because my wife and me agreed to sign a pest control contract with them. The first couple of times an Aptive rep came by, they did wonderful work. They were careful and methodical, they sprayed inside and out of the home, they let us know well in advance they would be there, and we were very happy. Over time, the notifications they were going to be there got closer and closer to their arrival. . .going from saying they'd be there on "X" day a few days from now, to saying they'd be there in a few minutes, and then just not calling and showing up. Then the work started getting worse and worse. Once the COVID lockdowns were over and my wife and me were back to work at the office instead of at home every day, and they were coming by when we weren't home, they started definitely doing a poor job once we weren't watching. Of course, if we weren't home they couldn't come inside to spray either. However, we do have security cameras. The cameras would catch Aptive reps doing poor jobs like only spraying the front yard and not bothering to go into the back yard, or just ringing our doorbell and when they realize we aren't home just driving away and billing us anyway. They thought they could get away with anything if we weren't home, and didn't notice all the cameras we had watching what they WEREN'T doing. When I would call to complain, they'd offer to have the place re-sprayed "as a courtesy", but when I would insist it would have to be on a day I was at home (working from home several days a week), they'd always say they were never available on any of those days. . .not just this week or next week, NEVER available on any of those days of the week, they could ONLY come by and spray on the days I wasn't home. That was VERY suspicious. Eventually I got fed up with this and called to cancel. The service rep asked if there was a specific reason I was cancelling, and I explained all of the above. The rep said they'd waive the cancellation fee and put in a request to refund the fees for the times they didn't spray my house but billed us for it. They were at least fast about processing that refund. The only time their customer service was decent was when calling to cancel, if you're just calling to complain then they'll blow you off. Don't go with these guys. For the cost they charge for a single spraying you can go to a home improvement store and buy a large spray bottle of pesticide and use it yourself, and save hundreds of dollars, and you'll probably do a much better job than them in the process. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. 1) This company is ridiculously expensive. 2) What you get for the money is not worth it. Imagine paying for a Ribeye and getting a McDonald's Happy meal. See #1 3) The service technician will not communicate with you even after you make numerous calls asking for a window of time when they will be at your house. Example: More than once I have tried to reschedule the visit because I needed to be at work and the company said no. In this case my dogs have to be outside. I asked for a window of time so that I can go home and put the dogs inside. I get nothing except for an emails that says "Tech could not service backyard due to dogs." No kidding. I could have told you that. Oh wait, I did, again and again and again. I'm just asking for the same courtesy the plumber or the HVAC person or just about any person would give. You can rest assured that I still got charged the full amount. 4) Did I mention expensive? Around $180 each time they come and spray around my 1500 square foot house. It's even $180 when they just spray the front part. 5) I still have bugs. I pay extra for mosquito protection, mosquitoes everywhere. 6) You can get in touch with them. When I call customer service I get a call center in Texas. The company is in Louisville, KY but their customer service is in Texas. You can't speak to anyone at the Louisville office. Ever. 7) Overall this place sucks. Do not use them. Don't believe the one or two 5 star reviews and look at the hundreds of 1 star reviews. I wish I could get out of the contract. read more

I signed up with a door salesman. His pitch and flyer had different prices than my card being charged. Come to find out my partner signed the contract agreeing to different prices(you know how it is sometimes guys don't read what they are signing and they do it fast). Not knowing it is a legal contract. Well after the charge goes through we go to cancel and there is a $200 cancellation fee! I wouldn't even cancel if they didn't lie about the prices. After the Scouter Kid or Segway Kid came up and refused to take no for an answer, I had to communicate clearer for him to leave my property. In our subdivision, multiple home owners said they had the SAME experience with his refusal to accept no. The "local" number for Louisville is a call center, and the local number they give you is not so local either. I am not sure about their actual service, but I refuse to do business with a company with people pushing hard, no local or real phone number, and rudeness. Had to call the Sheriff. read more

An Aptive rep knocked on our door last Summer. Very pushy, but we decided to try out the lawn service due to an ant issue we were having. After they sprayed my herbs in hanging baskets, then the next time sprayed during a downpour, we called to cancel the service. They still came back the following month. We sent them away saying the service had been canceled. Little did we know that hidden in the contract was a cancelation fee for $199. We called to dispute since we were not at all satisfied with their service. Today, we received a collections letter for the $199. Unbelievable. I have never in my life been harassed or disrespected the way I was by a young man selling door to door for this business. I answered the door because of ongoing next door construction, thinking it was related. I was holding my toddler and informed the young man it was my child's bedtime and please come back another time. He would not take no for an answer and even said he'd "meet me around back" on my deck to give me a price. Mind you I'm holding my son and it's nearly dark outside as it's almost 8pm. I couldn't even believe it. Again I say no. Again I inform him we have Terminix and it's cheaper. He bashes Terminix and offers me 5 different prices inside of 5 minutes, also names some neighbors I've never heard of and says he can put me as their referral and make it even cheaper. WHAT IS HAPPENING?? I was a step away from calling the cops. What a dangerous and harassing situation to be hounded like this while I'm holding my small child and repeatedly politely saying no thank you. I didn't invite you to my home! My husband, along with our neighbors, all opted to sign up for Aptive environmental services. We have only ever experienced honest, and quality service. After our first appointment we immediately noticed a difference. No more spider mites, less ants, and no more wasps! After a couple of weeks we noticed the ants return and contacted aptive customer service. My experience was fantastic. Customer service was polite, enthusiastic, and scheduled a technician the NEXT DAY for a complimentary treatment. Aptive Environmental has great employees who take the time to be thorough and polite. My husband and I are very happy with our Aptive services and will continue to do business with this company. I'll also add that every technician who has treated our home, has been fantastic. This company knocked on my door. Told the man I was not interested. I do not open my door for men when I'm home alone. He proceeded to knock. I opened the door leaving the screen locked. He said the home owners association called him to service our court. We do not have an HOA. He said that our area has had high reports of brown recluse spiders by the HOA, again we don't have one. I told him again we're not interested at this time. We were just charged $169 for a service at a property we rented and moved away from a year ago. We were not aware that a service was going to be provided. No text, email, or letter was sent informing us that a service would be provided. I received the invoice in the mail TODAY saying that payment was late... This was the first notice I received. Customer support was not helpful at all. Do not work with this company. They put services and fees in the fine print that they don't tell you about. No refund was provided. It's amazing to me that they would just show up at a property and perform a service without confirming if the clients even still live there or not. He kept pushing for my information, even volunteered to check out my property without my permission, even telling me my neighbors took his service and referred me, but I have actually spoken to several of my neighbors to verify if what he said was true and they declined his services as well. I'm baffled by the lengths these iffy salesmen will go, if the priority is the customer I'm pretty sure you would respect their final answer and continue on with their day, but no!!! I live in Charlestown Indiana. A salesman by the name of James stopped by approximately a month ago and said that they were doing a special in the neighborhood for a $49 first time treatment. We decided to take advantage of that and even specifically asked if there was a contract or an obligation and were told no. So we wrote a check for $49 they treated the house and we thought that was it. James told us there was a 100% guarantee And that they would come and service the house as many times as needed at no charge until the problem was solved. We allowed two weeks for the treatment to take affect and spent 5 minutes outside with our seven-month-old and she got bit twice by mosquitoes in that very short amount of time and had an allergic reaction, for which I have pictures and a doctors record for. We called Aptive and James and they have since stated they they've come out once to try to remedy the issue that we are still having. Because essentially their treatment did nothing. And today we woke up to a $169 charge in our bank account from Aptive. My husband placed a call to active and not only was there not a resolution but the manager hung up on him and refused to refund our money. As this was a fraudulent charge since we did not authorize this charge our bank is taking care of it. However that is not a position any business should put their customers in. This company and James are liars and scammers. Do not accept services from them. Not only do their services not work, but they also charge your payment method without your consent.
