Extremely Disappointed -- $8,000 Sauna Disaster & Zero Support [[HIGHLIGHT]]I paid nearly $8,000 for a sauna from this company, and it's been one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First, the sauna was assembled incorrectly, which caused severe heat damage to my hardwood floor (see photos). If your hot tub breaks down don't expect to use it for a very, very, very long time. We have been waiting for months now for them to order a part and come back out to fix (btw they charge a huge fee just to come to your house so you feel like you need to continue with them - you're invested). They are now trying to schedule me for over a month from now to come back out - I have already been waiting months without a hot tub. Either hire more technicians or don't have a "service" department because 3-4 months is way too long to wait. read more

Salesmen are liars about "best price of the year". Bought my tub and saw it for sale cheaper a month later. Emailed the sales person about it and never replied. Service also terrible. Don't reply, cleaning service doesn't even try to get out all the water before dumping in new, and then adds all the chemicals at once despite instructions to add them sequentially. I found parking easily, as they've got a lot and was impressed with their showroom, I saw that they also had some nice gas fires which would be great on our back patio. I waited around a bit and there was really only one sales guy, who was obviously deeply involved with a customer. Regency fireplace repair - blower not blowing. Same story as others: Called wanting service, set up an appointment and on the day of, person called saying didn't have any part so appt would be rescheduled. Month later, no info so call repair and Rose was very helpful: they don't have a part on order but can get it and when the part comes in, get me scheduled. Part replaced and it doesn't work but service person unable to troubleshoot any further. Put another call into repair to figure out what to do next. I'm quite perplexed that he couldn't tell me if there was power to the blower or an electrical problem or something that I have not diagnosed myself so far...Don't use them for Regency repairs and although the fireplace has been really reliable, they are happy leaving me with a non-operational fireplace. Oh, no receipt left behind and a service timeframe of 10am to 4pm. Really! read more

We purchased a Fireplace insert 3 years ago. This year we fired up the fireplace when the weather started getting cold and the fan went out. Called service. 2 month wait to hear from them. We got the appointment and they showed up without parts. Rescheduled.On the day of, I was rescheduled again. Each time given a 10-4 window. The service tech fixed the fan but broke something else. He left and the scheduled another service. On the afternoon of the day of the appointment, I get a call. No parts were ordered again! Rerscheduled a month out. Each time I adjusted my schedule, canceled appointments. Had people wait for the tech and still no repair and summer is coming. We bought a Nordic Hot Tub back in July. JASON CHURCHWARD, the sales rep told us it would be delivered ready to fill up and plug in (to a regular AC outlet). He was full of shit and has been very unhelpful throughout this process. First, tub was delivered falling apart. The bottom was coming off as well as the siding. The delivery people made us pay the remaining balance and promised the maintenance people would be out to fix it. Then, radio silence. When someone did finally come out they just said don't worry about it, it's fine. Without even trying to fix the problem. Later, we find out that no one had installed the GFI plug so again we had to call maintenance to come out. We waited another couple weeks. And then finally after 2 months of lies from Jason and incompetent service staff we went to fill up the tub and plug it in only to find out that the GFI plug does NOT fit in a regular AC outside outlet that we had already paid an electrician to put on the house! Jason says we are on the hook to fix this ourselves now and takes no responsibility that he told us a normal AC outlet was all we needed. That we could buy this tub, it would show up and we can plug it in and go. Of course now he says we are unable to return the tub as well for refund. So basically Aqua Quip got their money and did squat to help their customer. I have never been more unhappy with a company and its service. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM AQUA QUIP. I bought my Aqua Quip hot tub about three years ago. It ALWAYS break down. A never ending sequence of sensor malfunctions make it unusable. For each malfunction I have to wait a week just to schedule service. Then there is about a 6 week waiting time before a service person comes out. My strong recommendation is that Aqua Quip should be avoided. I have never experienced a lower quality product and worse service. read more

I'm happy that it's fixed and I can finally enjoy the pool. I will say that the store staff (most of the Stars go to them) are really nice but still really unhappy with the maintenance service department. ORIGINAL POST: The Service Department (not store staff) is HORRIBLE!!!! I love my Swim/spa but in the last two years we have not been able to enjoy it as much as we should have. This year we have only been able to use it once since the pool has been broken for 2 months. The service department sends one guy (three times) even though they tell us the work should be done with 2 people. The tech guy shows up, says he doesn't know what needs to done, makes a big mess then leaves with out notice other than a note that says "need to come back" I have called so many times with no help making the situation better. Now I have an expensive broken pool just sitting half full with stagnate water and dealing with a company that doesn't care about its clients. I'm so frustrated!!!! read more

My husband needed to get help with our fireplace. Lady on phone was very rude and unhelpful:( she hang up my husband!!!!!

My husband called many pool companies to get quotes for installation of a pool heat pump. He ended up negotiating a price with Aquaquip, got the official quote, paid it and was told we'd have someone reach out to schedule the install the next day. When that didn't happen, he followed up only to then be told it couldn't be scheduled because it would cost $500 more to do the electrical for the installation and the company was no longer honoring the quote and the services they agreed to provide for the price my husband had already paid them. My husband asked to speak with the individual who had given my husband the initial quote and was told he'd call back that day. That never happened. My husband then called to speak to a manager and was put on hold and then eventually told a manager couldn't speak with him but they would refund the money he'd paid. My husband at this point said fine because he didn't want to ever deal with this company again. If it's $500 extra now, who is to say it won't be another $500 extra down the road. We asked for confirmation the funds had been refunded and are still trying to get the company to provide that so that we can book someone else to install a heat pump. Still have yet to have a manager call us and explain what happened or apologize. We've been long time Aquaquip customers, but this experience has led us to never want to do business there again and even to seek out reporting these practices to the Better Business Bureau. UPDATE: We did finally get a call back from the individual who gave us the initial quote (who was not the one who added on the $500 and apparently shouldn't have). Unfortunately, while we do appreciate the call, it shouldn't take multiple calls to try to speak to a manager and a bad yelp review to get a call and get someone to acknowledge that they could in fact do it to for the amount they'd originally agreed to do it for. read more

I almost bought a swim spa at one of those weekend "spa shows". After asking lots of questions about the install and reading reviews I decided to buy locally and I'm so glad I did. Getting my enormous swim spa in my back yard was a challenge (putting it mildly). After some initial issues and working very closely with the Aquaquip team I am now LOVING my swim spa. They really made sure everything got handled. I am confident I can manage the maintenance with how easy they make the process for all customers. The electrical dept was great to work with and taking water samples in is quick helps me make sure I'm doing everything right. Life is short, buy the spa :) read more

So far everything but a pleasant experience... Purchased a $12k Sundance hot tub to replace our old one for our rental cabin, so we would be sure that everything would run smoothly (due to the price) and it has been everything but that. It has been trouble since day one. The hot tub was delivered dirty, scratched on all sides with dented panels, with 12 out of 60 jets coming off the tub upon starting it, with error messages from the first start up and coming back out of the blue every few days, and difficulties keeping the temperature. Now after only three weeks of mild use the hot tub is inoperable and unusable with constant error messages and jets and pumps not working. This situation has already costed us $500 in lost income due to the discounts and refunds we had to give my guests as they could not enjoy the hot tub during their stays. The assistance I have received from the people at this location has been non existent this far, with them blaming the delivery company for the issues (which they contract with and for which we had to pay $350 for), unapologetic about the situation and making it seem as a normal occurrence to experience something like this. It is pretty shocking to spend over 10k at this business and receive this lack of service and consideration. Our preview hot tub was only 4K and we didn't have any issues for over 4 years of heavy use. At this point we are seriously considering contesting the charge on our credit card and physically returning the tub to the retail location. I will be happy to update this review if and when we will get the proper attention and assistance we deserve. read more

Small family-owned businesses are still the backbone of our economy. I try to frequent these businesses as often as possible, and Aqua Quip is one of my favorites. According to their website, Aqua Quip has been around for over 50 years, and my family has been doing business with them, on and off, for probably close to 40 years. It may be one of the longest relationships that I have with a locally owned small business. I have fond memories from when I was a kid of visiting the original Seattle branch (still at the same SODO location) with my dad, pool water in hand. The staff would test the water using a process that wasn't all that different from the kits I would later learn to use in high school chemistry. We would leave the store with all sorts of supplies in hand: chlorine, calcium, baking soda. If I was lucky, maybe we'd leave with a new pool toy. During college, when I needed a job, I immediately thought of Aqua Quip and was actually lucky enough to get hired. I worked in the Seattle, Bellevue and Lynnwood stores for a couple of years and found Aqua Quip to be a great place to work. The owner, Brian, was a smart and personable guy and the work (even though it was retail) was fun and interesting. Who knows how much pool and spa water I tested over those years? What seemed so complicated when I was a kid became routine, but no less interesting. (I know this isn't directly relevant to the review, but I'm including it because I think it speaks to Aqua Quip's integrity. I have found the company to be highly ethical, both as an employee and customer.) After my college years and into my thirties I didn't have much opportunity to do business with Aqua Quip. Still, we always stopped by their booth when attending the Puyallup Fair or Seattle Home Show. We'd admire the hot tubs and imagine which one we'd purchase if we ever had the opportunity. After enough time we decided to make that opportunity happen, opening a special "hot tub" savings account and having $25 from each paycheck deposited into it. When the time came and we finally had enough money saved up, there was simply no question who we would buy our tub from: Aqua Quip. The shopping experience was a genuine pleasure. The salesman we worked with was extremely knowledgeable and patient. It's not always easy for me to pull the trigger on big ticket items, even when I have the money in hand, so it took several weeks, a few repeat visits, questions, phone calls and even an in-store test drive. That's right. One night after work my wife and I went for a dip in a working hot tub in the middle of the store. Awesome! Years later we continue to use Aqua Quip for maintaining our hot tub. They still test water for free--although it's computerized now. The one time that I had to have the hot tub serviced, the technician was there on time and completed the job in a reasonable amount of time. A hot tub is a big purchase, an investment really, and it's great to still be enjoying ours. As the Aqua Quip song goes, "The best things in life, right in your own backyard" and that is so true. read more

Bought a 2nd Regency gas insert a year after the first from this vendor. Last month the remote control failed. Have to remove the heavy faceplate to gain access to the manual operation toggle switch to turn unit on and off. Only works on high fire which cooks us out of the rec room in 10 minutes, which we have to then switch it off. A real nuisance. Aqua Quip, considered an "essential" operation by the State refuses to perform a warranty repair due to covid19, but is making sales calls and new installs since May 1st. They won't even give an approximation date when they will fix the unit other than to say to check with them in July. Readying a complaint to the A.G.'s office and have complained to Regency in Canada. read more

When Aquaquip came out I was told by the Aquaquip tech that I had a faulty valve that couldn't be ordered, repaired or replaced. As a result of this information I went to my real estate agent and we began to pursue the previous owner of the home in court for dishonesty about the condition of the fireplace. I then asked Aquaquip for a quote on a new unit and was quoted for a $3,000 solution to our problem. For a second opinion I then contacted RTS and their tech came out and started the fire place with no problem. He confirmed the valve was in perfect condition and the fireplace had no problems at all. It just needed the pilot light lit. The Aquaquip tech either committed fraud or was utterly incompetent. The worst part is that Aquaquip management have not returned emails documenting their error. They sent the $200 service fee to collections. Watch out for Aquaquip they are not trustworthy or responsible. read more

Please avoid this place if you want to get your job done on time. We wanted to get a new Fireplace installed on dry wall in our new house and we made a deposit of $500 for the same. We were told that final estimation of effort and money would be made after a guy come from their store would inspect the target location for installation. On the scheduled date no one showed up in time (even after we called and got confirmation about the visit an hour ago before the scheduled visit time slot). We followed up by calling the store and we were promised that they would look in to getting someone on the site ASAP and we would be updated about any change in plan. We waited for another hour for someone to show up for estimation but we neither got anyone onsite nor did we get any calls/message about it. Finally we had to visit the store again to get our deposit money back. Very poor experience :( read more

We purchased an Jacuzzi spa from Aqua Quip 2 years ago. I love our hot tub.... when it is working. While we have only had two issues, the time frame to repair is ridiculous. First time was a faulty temperature gauge which caused the safety switch to turn off thinking the tub was two hot. Took 4 weeks from the time I called for someone to come out and diagnose the problem, then they had to order the part. We waited 3 weeks for them to get the part, then another month before they could install it. We heard many excuses, but it was fixed after 3 months. One year later it trips circuit and won't stay on. Called, and again 3 weeks for someone to come out and diagnose, 3 weeks to get part, and earliest date to come replace bad heater is 1.5 months. Currently waiting for this period to pass until they can swap heater. Their people are great, but 3 months for each repair is stupid. Hot tubs parts fail, under warranty, but tub down 6 months in 2 years is not acceptable. 3 months each time to swap parts that takes about 20 minutes. read more

We got our hot tub through AquaQuip a year ago. From installation to everyday use, all the staff have been 100% helpful. I go to the store on 4th Avenue for water testing and supplies. Every person explains every step carefully and thoroughly for me. I recently switched from the chlorine based system to the hydrogen peroxide system because of a skin hive-like reaction to the chlorine. Buyer beware! Don't give them your credit card. They keep it on file and charge it without billing you! They don't stand behind the products they sell and it takes about two months to get a service appointment. So, if you're trying to get something like a fireplace, you purchased from them, serviced and you call in February, chances are it won't be fixed until spring. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before we spent $10,000 on a Jacuzzi from Aqua Quip. When they delivered the Jacuzzi they sent the wrong lift cover. They did not come back until I called four times to install it. We purchased this Jacuzzi two months ago. We are using the home as a short-term rental and now I have an error code which my son has gone through all of the trouble shooting. And it still is not working. We called the service department to schedule a technician to come out and they are saying it may take a month to get someone out to look at it. You have got to be kidding me. My wife and I recently purchased a Jacuzzi spa from Aqua Quip to replace our Balboa spa purchased from Black Pine and installed in 2007. I can honestly say that this was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. I'm 50+ yrs old. Much of the positive experience was due to the store manager that I interacted with. Jeff Henderson was great. It started when I wrote a lengthy email to Aqua Quip sales along with other spa stores in the Puget Sound area. The email contained exactly what we were looking for in an upgraded spa. With little delay, Jeff responded to each and every one of my questions while other stores never sent an email back in response. We quickly came to a tentative price for the model we were looking at and after visiting the show room, we purchased the Jacuzzi. The communication and coordination for the install was perfect. Jeff always kept us informed, which is much appreciated. After installation, there were some minor issues that were due to my misunderstanding. I just wanted to get a light replaced... so they gave me a quote for 30grand in repairs that I never wanted.. then I called for the correct estimate taking over two weeks they just send me the wrong quote in the mail. so i finally get the fucking morons at repair and they state oh you dont need estimate for that, just give us a credit card and we'll come and do the work.. so after getting a card on file, it will now be days and a month entirely to get the pool taken care of.. totally unprofessional, pieces of shit. read more

It is very sad that the service department can destroy all the effort a store makes to keep a customer. I visited the Federal Way store and was helped by an excellent female who gave me prices on a gas wood stove, a wood burning stove, sauna and hot tub for a house I am building. I most importantly needed service on an existing FP in a rental close by. The following morning I was given a call from a female from service. I explained I wanted someone to fix the blower on the FP and I if I could talk to the tech, it would expedite the repair. She had model and serial number but wanted the year of the unit. When I told her, I did not know the year, she suggested I call someone who sells the unit. (Even though it is one AquaQuip normally works on). Ridiculously poor customer service. Ordered a new spa cover (and pre-paid a significant deposit). I was told the cover would be ready in 2-3 weeks. Six weeks later, I still haven't heard anything. I've spent an entire week making daily calls to find out what's happening, and no one can tell me. In most cases, I'm told they'll talk to the appropriate people and "call me right back," then I never hear from them. One sympathetic employee finally gave me the direct line to the manager in charge of spa covers. The manager's been out of the office for multiple days; none of the people I've reached have any idea where she is, and there's no backup to handle inquiries in her absence. This isn't my first dance with AquaQuip. I could go on and on. Would love to find a competent alternative in my area. read more
