I've had a very disappointing experience with this location. I raised concerns multiple times about my son's progress in class, but nothing was done to address the issues or support his improvement. I ultimately decided to cancel, but be aware that cancellations can only be done in person, which is extremely inconvenient. I gave the staff several opportunities to follow up and make things right. After waiting many days with no response from the general manager, I chose to take my business elsewhere. If you're looking for a swim school that communicates effectively and is responsive to your child's needs, I would not recommend this one. read more

We transitioned from gold fish to aqua tots because we saw that the teacher turnover led to stagnant progress with swimming. At first it was great and I saw progress with my son swimming. Over the past 6 months, it's turned into something similar to goldfish where it's a different teacher every week. One teacher came out and said I'm not really sure what he should work on, but I'm not here next week. That was the last straw for me. Too much time and money to not have consistency and see the teachers just standing around talking to each other in the pool or looking disinterested with a Stanley cup. We've been coming to Aqua-Tots for 6 years now. My 6 year old is able to swim independently and be safe in the water. We love it here. All the coaches are wonderful. We have had a great experience with aqua tots since day 1. Our daughter loves her classes and her teachers. They are very encouraging, and it's great the class sizes are small enough to get 1:1 time with the coaches. They also have fun little parties throughout the year and gave our daughter a Christmas card with a unicorn this year. Pricing is very reasonable and they have been very flexible with our constantly changing schedules. We appreciate the small little touches and highly recommend for any parent looking for a quality swim place for their littles. read more

I would have given this place 4-5 stars just a few years ago. We have been customers without a lapse in membership for almost 6 years, but for at least the last year things have gotten much worse at Aqua-Tots. As others have stated, the main issue is the turn over has gotten really bad. The instructors now seem inexperienced and our kids stopped progressing. There are still one or two good instructors left (Andie is one) but we couldn't continue on because it is a lot of money and our older son was stuck in the same level for almost a year. I don't blame this on our son. We moved to another swim class and he started excelling again. Same with our younger son. There are also other little things that have gone down hill. The cleanliness has dropped off. The music and good smelling fragrance when you walk in had stopped. Nothing major but it was clear things were not improving. Also lots of pool closures, and some last minute when we were already there. Instead of refunds, makeup's were issued which I was never able to use all of them. Finally, I requested a credit for all the makeups we could not use in our time there, over $1000 worth, and was basically offered $100 credit for just the lessons they cancelled on us, which I know was there was way more of. But I didn't argue and accepted it as it was something. The catch was it was only an "account" credit, not a credit back to my card on file so I cannot even use the credit. I went round and round for weeks to get to this point and it took over a dozen emails of back and fourth to even realize that I was not getting a refund. What is the point of this? Why would I even be offered an account credit? The girl (Satindar I believe her name was) was very rude about it all and the exchange was not professional. This is ultimately what compelled me to finally write this review and not recommend Aqua-Tots to my friends or anyone. I also attempted to let corporate know about my dissatisfaction, and they just sent my email back to the Wheaton location so I just had to deal with the rude person who clearly did not care about trying to smooth over the issue and do the right thing. Ironically the owner is very nice and we liked him but I'm not sure he knows the type of people now running the day to day and how things are getting worse. We used to see him a lot but in the last year or so he is not around as much. Hopefully he can get things back on track and hold some of his staff accountable for their poor performance. I have two kids in aqua tots and have seen some but very little progression in their swimming in the last 8 months. I think part of the reason is the way that aqua tots does swim lessons. They have up to 4 people in a class and the teacher only spends time with one kid at a time. So for 30 minutes you would think that would be close to 7.5 minutes. However, I timed the amount of time each of my children were swimming for a few lessons and they only had about 2.5-3.5 minutes of actually swimming for each 30 minute lesson. The majority of time is spent sitting on the sidelines. After each lesson, the teacher would tell you things the kids can work on. One teacher told me she didnt know what my kids can work on, but also said my kid wasn't ready to move up and couldn't say what else they needed to do. I don't blame the teachers, they are pretty young, but as a parent paying a lot of money and time to hopefully have your kids learn how to swim it can be frustrating. The lesson spends a set amount of time doing different areas of swimming, so if your kid only needs help in their backstroke, they will only get a small amount (15-20 seconds) on that stroke and will spend other time doing things they are already proficient in. There were a few times where 1 of my kids was the only kid there for a 30 minute lesson. They still only spent 3.5 minutes of their time doing strokes in the water. The other time was spent sitting on the sidelines while the teachers talked to other teachers or spent time messing around with other things when they could have been teaching. You would think this would be a great way for the kids to learn and progress but that is not how they do it at aqua tots. I am not sure if any other place is better as other parents have said that similar places have their kids sit around for the majority of the time and don't learn things specific to their needs. If you have plenty of time and money to spare, then I think this place would be ok. read more

Between the constant turnover of coaches, last minute cancellations, and classes almost always starting 10 minutes late each week we decided that after 2 years we have to move on. My son has taken off since we started going here regularly. They have a clear curriculum which is easy for the parents to follow along, and the kids enjoy earning stars every week towards their progression. The only downside is we had to switch away from coach Abby when my son graduated to level 6 (though I'm sure he'll learn to love his new coach too). The coaches, while young, are very good at keeping the lessons fun and refocusing their energies in a positive way, when needed. read more

I am writing to complain about Aqua-Tots Wheaton's lack of communication,unavailability of coaches,insensitive management,&overall bad customer service. We've been attending Aqua-Tots Wheaton since May 2018.During my pregnancy&after giving birth,our child has not been able to attend his lessons regularly.We also moved to another address during this time period.As soon as we're able to,we tried to schedule make up classes,but availability was limited.This caused the number of our makeup classes to grow to 20 (7 out of 20 cancelled by them-I have emails to prove it).We felt trapped and couldn't leave but we didn't want to waste the money we already paid for. On Feb 8, 2020,my husband&son arrived at Aqua-Tots&was informed that it was cancelled due to the coach calling in sick.The manager said they sent out a cancellation email.The problem is,it was 2hrs before the said schedule.We fully agree that people should prioritize their health.What didn't sit well with us is this -the email was beyond short notice.We didn't receive any phone calls,&when I brought this issue up,I was told that they were "too busy" to call. The manager was not apologetic.She just said that I will receive a call back from the gen. manager,but have not heard from them after 2 days.After calling them multiple times,I was able to talk to the owner Rishi K. I explained to him what happened&told him that it wasn't the first time a sudden cancellation,or a change of schedule happened -without us getting a call,or us agreeing to the change.Instead of offering an apology&asking how he can make things right,he went on&said that he can't make a sick person go to work,that we should be thankful that they taught our child how to swim,&that it was our fault that we had all those makeup classes.Without knowing why we had to cancel classes,he was already judging us.I tried to explain to him our situation,but he said,"No, you listen to me!"He then went on&I couldn't get a word.He hung up after saying "I have to go, I'll call you later." This incident made us think twice of sending our child to an institution that could treat their clients rudely and unprofessionally.Because of this we feel that it's unsafe for our child to continue going to Aqua-Tots Wheaton.We have sent our 30 day withdrawal notice and do not plan on going back. read more

One of my boys is special needs and they have been so accommodating in making sure he had the best instructor and was comfortable. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Beware of their cancellation policy. It takes 30 days to cancel from the time you fill out their cancellation form. So you get billed for a few more sessions being forced to continue to attend the classes. We cancelled because my daughter was placed in the wrong swim level and then was told she needed to be in the parent/tot class. This was not going to work out for me, plus they changed our original swim date. Ending up being a huge inconvenience, waste of our time & money. Make sure that this is the swim school you truly want to attend and read your agreement and policy before signing anything. read more

Aqua-Tots Swim School is an amazzzzing place to bring your children for swim lessons! I love Mr. Richey!! He was very patient with me from day One and eased all of the concerns I had being a new mom. I think we I talked to him on the phone for approximately 50 minutes asking various questions. Not once did he ever seem annoyed by my silly questions. In addition, I was not pressured to sign my daughter up. Mr. Richey genuinely cares about the family's and wants what's best for each student.This has been a great experience for my husband and I. My daughter cried during her first three lessons and now looks forward to coming to swim and seeing her coaches! We received encouragement during the first 3 lessons although they were difficult for us. Coach Danny and Ms. Kim are her two favorite people now! In any case, they are all great! We love Ms. Vesna, she is always welcoming and patient. One of the greatest things is that the school focuses on water safety first while still making learning to swim fun! All three of my children go to Aqua Tots ranging in age from 4-9. The steady improvement and fun that they experience here is awesome to see. Aqua Tots management and staff go above the call of duty to accommodate changes in schedule, development needs, and strive to be the ultimate family experience. Wonderful Staff and a great learning environment. My kids are progressing nicely. The owner is always there, ready to assist, super friendly and willing to make any customer and child happy.
