Took my kids this afternoon for some end of summer fun. Found out they have increased the slide height requirements and they would let me in the water to help my youngest with the snake. So, there was no way to safely have eyes on all three of my kids if any wanted to do the slides with nothing for the youngest in the back half. Then we went to try to tot pool to give the little one a chance to slide. Closed and locked with a zip tie. His admission cost just as much as the others but he couldn't even go to the area specifically for his age group. Also there was a ton of trash around the pool and near the filters - food wrappers, used bandaids etc. very disappointed because Sea Lion used to be a place we loved to go. read more

Here's yet another Heritage Review for a place that I went to a lot when I was small. Of course back in the day it was just one pool and four slides. Now, Sea Lion Aquatic Park is definitely one of the nicest outdoor pools in the area, and I love taking my own kids here. The kids pool dedicated to kids 5 and under is great for keeping toddlers and preschoolers busy and off the streets so they don't join a gang. There's a small fish slide, it's only one foot deep, and there's gates on either side to keep kids from escaping. Opps, I mean wondering off. A large sand pit with plenty of shade, clean sand, and a little water fixture are carefully policed by staff to make sure everyone washes the sand away before returning to the pools. There's also a splash pad area that gets no love from my kids, but it's very cool. For older kids they have a regular pool, 4 crazy slides, and an area that's kind of like a small lazy river. The water sort of propels people in a small circle. Everyone can enjoy the leisure pool with the waterfall this year(it was a "teen pool" last year), the ample seating, and of course the snack bar. Overall, it's just a great pool. It's clean, rarely crowded, the staff and lifeguards are on top of things, and there's plenty to do. read more

More than half of their offerings are not open. The slides the tubes the hot tub the concession stand. And yet they are still charging full price. They're also not giving senior discounts. Even though their concession is closed they will not allow you to bring in food. Would not be back. I guess others agree with me because it's over a hundred heat index when there's probably only 50 people here. read more

Had a lovely experience with my five year old, on a weekday. Bring some water toys and a picnic blanket. They offer free sunscreen but the showers are cold. Food options leave much to be desired. They don't let kids on any of the slides or even the balance snake if they are wearing a life vest - bummer (and probably not a positive way to reinforce safety). But the staff is kind and seems attentive. I did notice that it is highly segregated, with most kids only playing with kids that look like them but that is probably a deeper rooted problem. Make sure you tell your kid where to go to find you if they get lost, as this seemed to be a regular occurrence. Also, make sure they know a parent's name! Overall, we had a great time and would likely return on another weekday but I wouldn't want to go on a weekend when it's probably more crowded. read more

Update: I just want to add that while I'm not particularly impressed with some Life guards, I have found a number of employees who are kind and helpful. Additionally, as mentioned by manager in reply, Monday was a little bit less hectic. Original Post: The park alone is great for smaller children. However, with the summer camps and the pools constant need to close down one small pool or another, it has become a place that I rather not go to unless it's later in the day. Groupons probably did not help the crowdedness. My largest issue with this pool is the lack of organization and leadership when the day camps come. When they arrive and when they leave, they use every single stall and room to change. They should have only one part of the dressing/ restroom stalls available for them. I highly recommend timing your restroom breaks before or after. They arrive at 12:30pm. They leave at about 4pm or so. Another issue aside from the closing down of pools is that there seem to be too many children that act out and life guards either ignore or seem to want to ignore. The camp chaperones are only a little bit better. Overall, there needs to be clear set rules and someone to implement them seriously. Until then or if you can go when there are no camp groups, I don't recommend. read more

Get rid of adult swim time, or at the very least give us a place for our older children to swim. Keeping them out of the pool for adults to have private time is, ironically, childish! Its a public park district, kids have every right to swim in the pool at all times, just as adults do. Especially since they're being charged the same rate as an adult! I have no idea how Lisle managed to get a water park as big and fantastic as this, but they did, and it makes me very happy to know it's only blocks from my house. If you can't swing the trip to Wisconsin Dells for the afternoon, Sea Lion is a fantastic alternative. It's also cleaner and nicer than many of the local Park District pools in the area. Maybe most importantly to a triathlete like myself, they have a lap pool that I can enjoy in the summer months. This place is huge. I don't know how many square feet offhand, but to give you an idea, there's a huge zero-depth pool with fountain, a 6-lane lap pool, 2 huge water slides, 2 drop slides with a 12-foot depth pool, a teen pool for kids 12-18, and a baby pool area. I don't know what the capacity is, but I've never felt crowded in here, even on the busiest days. The staff are terrific. The people working at the admission counter are super polite, and the lifeguards manage to be vigilant without being overzealous. I find that many places the lifeguards have a whistle-blowing fetish. Thank God the ones here are cool, and everyone can have fun responsibly. There are a ton of places to sit. What I really appreciate is there are also a lot of shady/covered spots for those of us with a high risk of skin cancer. There's a nice concession area that is actually reasonably priced. They serve Evviva pizza, and they have popcorn from Naper Nuts and Sweets. I really appreciate the fact that they don't gouge on the concession stand- my kids need to refuel 5x a day when we're here, and I never have to spend more than $20 on concessions. If you do choose to bring your own food, there's a picnic area outside as food from outside the facility is not permitted. Locker rooms are huge and have showers. You can lock your locker provided you bring your own lock. I prefer taking our swim bag to the pool, but if you want to stow yours, there's an option. Overall I'm happy to give this facility 5 stars. They deserve it, and both my kids and I always enjoy our days here. read more

This is my local park district pool and I can't ask for a better pool being so close to home. Lots of options at this place, the only thing it's lacking is a lazy river. It's $7 for residents, and if non-residents visit this pool with a resident they get the resident price (it's usually not hard to find a friend or family member to go at this price!) Though, I've been known to come visit solo a few times. Pass members get in a half hour before but I've NEVER had a problem with seating when the public is allowed in on weekends. Strangely enough though it can start to fill up as the afternoon goes on, into the later afternoon. There are lots of lockers, the locker room is clean and plenty of outdoor seating. There is room in the shade, on the grass, and lots of chairs. There is a snack bar which happens to sell Evviva Pizza (one of the best pizza places in Lisle!) and you can bring your own bottled water in. I saw a family pretty much bring an ENTIRE meal in there last weekend but we won't go there...I didn't snitch and I don't even think anyone noticed. As for the pool, there is a large pool that goes from almost nothing to 5ish feet deep. There is an are for laps, a teen pool where you can just sit and hang out, a few kids areas and a few water slides so really...something for everyone. The water park is wonderful and that's why I'm a pass holder. However I would question some of the choices by management in its daily operation. Specifically, I forever feel like we're being told to exit the pool for things like adult swim and swim lessons. During July 4 weekend, for example, for all practical purposes, only pass holders could reach the water park due to the city's carnival. The pool was mostly empty. And yet, adult swim continued! The shallower portion of the pool had precisely one swimmer for one session, and -- get this -- none in the next. It's simply bizarre. They kept evacuating the pool. And today, on the day of this writing, if you call the daily update line, it says nothing about swim lessons, yet during lessons, you must again leave the pool. (There are lessons today, BTW.) While I understand wanting to give adults some time, it seems downright authoritarian and overbearing sometimes. Why not just close off the deeper section? If you come for a visit with young children, be ready for the blaring whistles and obediently head for your towel. No questions asked. read more

Visited 7-24-15 it was overcrowded because of the kids that attend camp. Every hour the kids exit the pool and it's only adult swim for 15 minutes. People save all the chairs with their belongings so there's nowhere to sit, you either sit on the concrete or the grassy area. Facilities are clean both indoors and outdoors, we exited about 4:00pm and I noticed it was more than half empty because the camp kids exited as well. There's a nice picnic area out by the playground where we had lunch. I suggest visiting the water park after 4PM. They also have a concession stand indoors, but it's hidden to the back where you can't see it. I think they would sell more if it was in the view of patrons. Their lost and found is also to the back by the concession stand. Theirs a long table with belongings on it. I would like to visit once more, but after 4 and it's also less expensive from 5:00pm until closing time. read more

We brought the kids here for a last fun day out before school starts. We were impressed with how clean the park is. And in general the kids here were very well behaved and lifeguards and other staff ensured the rules were followed. We arrived about 15 minutes after they opened and had no problem getting a few chairs in the shade. It did get more crowded later in the day. The main pool starts zero depth, and leads into a lap pool and a small lazy river type pool. There is also a splash structure in the main pool. The kiddie pool has a nice little slide and sprayers. There is a huge splash structure with all kinds of sprayers which the kids can control with wheels. There is a sandy area that the kids enjoyed. Two big water slides plus two plunge water slides and an alligator obstacle course with sprayers. Plenty of things to do for all ages The snack bar was just OK. Food took a long time to come out and the pizza was not very good. My main complaint is they had a country station blasting out of cheap speakers that just had terrible sound. It got really annoying listening to that all day. All in all the kids had fun and we would go back again. read more

The Sea Lion is great to have in Lisle. It's operated by the Lisle Park District and if you're a Lisle resident the fee to get in is pretty reasonable. The snack bar has good prices on most of the items. There's plenty to do here including a big main pool area, drop and flume slides, and a play structure for kids. The people working here are all pretty nice. One of the managers Sean Garvy is great. He went out of his way to be super nice to my group. It's stuff like this that makes people come back. Overall I've had great experiences here and plan on returning! read more

Sea Lion Aquatic Park is a superb water park that is extremely well maintained. It's an especially nice park for families and kids of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. It has a a very nice kiddie pool with a mini-slide, a teen pool, a vortex pool, water slides, diving pool and more than you'd expect for a local, public water park. It's great for the kids and there are always a good deal of very alert life guards. There's also a snack shop if you're in the mood for a quick bite to eat. read more

I love this place, but I did go on days where there were no camp kids and days where it wasn't crowded. I would say this place is geared for younger children and I liked how there are different options for toddlers...a splash pad, baby pool, and the zero depth pool. I thought the pool was clean and there was plenty of lounging chairs but I can see if the place was very crowded it wouldn't be pleasant. I'm not a member and don't live in lisle so it can be a bit of a pricey outing for bigger families but overall it is a great place to spend the hot summer days with a toddler/younger children. read more

Our first time here today. Nieces (5 yrs. and 1 yr.) had a blast! So many different attractions for the kids and adults alike. Plenty of seats and snack bar. Snack bar prices were decent but ice cream prices a little too high. Other then that, great family place and very clean! Came here for the First time today. Overall it was fun. We had a 9 year old that's not a string swimmer so he thoroughly enjoyed the shallow main pool, splash park and relaxation pool. The lifeguards were super on point. The park was very clean and on a Saturday afternoon it was very busy but not overcrowded. Being it's a short distance from home, I'll definitely be back. One star for cleanliness, one star for the lifeguards, one star for location and one star for attractions. read more

My kids and I love this place...I would recommend for families with kids under 10-12...older kids might get bored. I agree with other reviewers about questioning the adult swim time. I could understand an adult swim for the lap swim area, but for most of the adults who are there, it is ten minutes of torture while the kids are whining about not being able to swim. It's is clean and lots to do for little ones. Other reviewer have said it doesn't often get crowded, however if it's a hot sunny day, u may try to get there before noon. It's clean and really fun...had it not been been for the unnecessary adult swim I would give it 5 Stars. read more

Great place for toddlers, we loved the small fish slide in the tot pool. Clean establishment, especially the sand area. Im usually reluctant to go in sand areas but this one was very nice. I wish there was a splash pad for toddlers, the one splash pad is better for kids 7 and up. Otherwise a very nice place. read more

For those complaining about adult swim: It's not just so adults can have a little "me time" in the pool. It also gives lifeguards a bit of a break. Also, some kids are not good about knowing when they are tired, so it ensures they have a few minutes to rest up. read more

I don't even know where to begin. We bought a groupon with friends. To help avoid the park being overcrowded, we checked their website and found out Monday's were "no camp days". We headed over on a Monday and were happy to find it wasn't crowded at all. After swimming for about 15 minutes they had to shut down the main pool due to a child having a bowel movement in the pool. That was fine, though, because there are several other places to swim. While we waited for the poop to be cleaned up, I saw five school buses pull up. All at once the pool became inundated with hundreds of camp kids. I couldn't believe it since they advertise Monday's as being camp free. I decided to do the best we could do to enjoy even though the lines for slides were 30 people deep. After reopening the pool, another child had a bowel movement in the pool. Sadly this time it was diarrhea and it was everywhere. Our chairs were right by where they were trying to clean up. I could hear them trying to figure out how to clean it up since it was so soupy. After much discussion they decided to just dump shock into the pool and reopen the pool. So 2-3 minutes after closing the pool for the diarrhea, they end up reopening without cleaning it. That was about all I could handle. We had only been there for 40 minutes but I was done. I packed up the kids and took them to another (and cleaner) area pool. read more

I love it there, it is most certainly our go to pool!! It is very clean and for the most part a very comfortable swimming temp. I have lived in Lisle for just shy if 13 years and have been a member of Sea Lion for many years. My daughter is 12 (almost 13) now and still loves going and has NEVER complained about the adult swim time so I don't know what everyone is complaining about... The kids are not aloud in ONE pool. There is still SO MANY other things to do in this water park. There are the drop slides, the regular water slides, the Pirate Ship splash area, the leisure pool, the sand area, and the concussion stand. So there is PLENTY of things the kids can do during adult swim. The adults that don't want to listen to their kids whine need to learn to take there kids to other areas of the water park. I mean honestly to say that there is nothing for them to do is just silly.... The staff is great we have never had an issue with anyone being rude. It can be very crowded at times but hey it's a public pool but when you are a member they put on a lot of very fun things that are for members only that are great and not nearly as crowded!! I would recommend this water park to anyone!!! read more

Very disappointing! Last year, I got a season pass and thy did not mail it to me until July and I didn't realize that I could go without the pass. They also lost the first picture they took so both my sister and I had to go to their office twice to get pictures taken. Because of that debacle. I decided not to get a season pass this year. This year I went almost every weekend and when Labor Day weekend came around, I noticed that the big sign said that the pool was open from 11am-6pm. So my friend and I trekked over to the pool to make it a bit after 11am and we were turned away because the first half hour was for season pass holders. Now, the sign didn't say which makes me think that this was complete false advertising. They want to lure people in and make them wait while others were swimming 20 feet away from them. My friend and I had other ideas that will not be mentioned but I think it's rather unprofessional of this organization to act like this, particularly to those who live in Lisle and pay the taxes. They should be able to enjoy the pool just the same. read more
