We installed our first walk on cover for our pool 30 years ago when we moved into our house. At that time our children were three years old, 18 months old and a newborn. We have now replaced the cover for the second time. A new cover every 15 years has been well worth the price. It has kept our children and now grandchildren safe and helped keep the pool clean and avoid too much water evaporation. The company was originally installed our cover and gave us the first replacement is no longer in business. It took a while to find Aquamatic. We shopped around and got three estimates. Jeff came out and has part of his estimate took a video which he texted to us explaining the work that would be done. Although they were not the least expensive, the description of their services and product sounded like the best for us. We upgraded from a manual cover which had to be crying to open to an automatic with a key. Installation took two days. Unfortunately when they came the first day they did not have all of the equipment necessary to install the cover. The cover looks wonderful. The system is run by hydraulics. It takes up far less room than the last cover. So far opening and closing it is simple. It was getting harder and harder to open the old cover manually because of both its and my age. Before they left they explain to us how to open and close the cover as well as what to do to maintain it. I had a great experience with Aquamatic. I ordered a cover for my 10' x 20' pool. the majority of the system came per-assembled for me. I was very impressed with the quality of the system. very heavy duty and well made. the box that contained the cover was 18' long and weighed 539 pounds. Nothing cheap about it. I installed the system myself. degree of difficulty was probably a 6-7 out of 10. not easy but if you take your time and break down the install into segments it is very managable. I was going to use a security fence but am so happy that I chose this cover. one of the reasons I chose this cover was that it uses hydraulics to open and close the cover. you do not install any electric motors near the pool or water. Their customer service is awful. They replaced the pool cover and put a temporary part instead of the actual part. I happened to find out about it because happened to be outside the house and spoke the technicians as they were leaving. They charged my card for the install and there was no mention of the incomplete job in writing. They only scheduled the permanent part install when I called them a month later. I received no reply. Called the company on installation day and was informed my scheduled date is actually 3 weeks from the date scheduled. After leaving a message for Gavryl, he called and said he's been sick and they dropped the ball as my order was never submitted to manufacturing. Absolute worst service from Gavryl - I would stay clear of him and ask for another rep if using them. My cover failed after 13 years with a tear allowing water through. I called the company, that installed the original. They scheduled a site visit, took measurements, and provided an email quote with credit card authorization. The quote was detailed, and the price seemed reasonable. An installation was scheduled about 2 weeks later. On the day before, I got calls and messages reminding me and providing a 2-hour window for installation. On the day I got a text message when they were en route, they actually arrived over an hour early. Jose and Mike worked like a well oiled machine, you could tell they know to do this in their sleep, very confident. They ensured I had no questions or concerns, kept everything neat, and left information on maintenance. Would give less than a star if I could. Wouldn't recommend this company to someone I didn't like. Here's my honest review: The product itself seems great and it's been year since I purchased. The service and install is complete trash. I had an old pool deck that they installed the cover on. This costs just over 10k. They didn't use all of the holes in the track to attach it to the deck so that looked weird and made it seem like something was missing. The cover was getting hung up on part of the pool deck and probably should have been addressed with the initial install. I decided to have the pool deck re done so I took the cover off. I coordinated with aquamatic and they said it would be 300 dollars to reinstall and they were 6 weeks out. They sent me an email 1 week before the appointment and asked me to sign an estimate for 1300 dollars with no explanation. I respond back and they wait till the day before the appointment to get back to me. After a terrible experience on the phone they ended up telling me they are going to have to reschedule because they already have 5 appointments. So I waited 6 weeks to get burned. Of course it's after I already paid them over 10k. I personally reinstalled the pool cover the next day in 4hours. I just hope I don't have any warranty issues because I can only imagine how that will go. Good luck and be careful who you give your money to. read more

Round pool = rectangular cover. Aquamatic pool covers was an interesting experience. They are so busy right now that they can't come out to your property for weeks So, when you are redoing the pool, the coping and installing a cover with a motor in the ground - timing is everything (masons, electrician, pool repair people, etc) and sometimes you have to wait a week or two before they are available. The salesman, Jeff, was a good salesman but once the contract is signed you are basically working with the office to try and get things scheduled and the office staff left a bit to be desired, maybe overworked? Our 1st cover installer was horrible (long story), but after complaining, they replaced him with Julio and he was great (request him because he knows what he's doing). I guess the thing to know is that they sell you the cover and install it, but you are expected to lay the tracks based on their schematics, so if it isn't perfect, it isn't going to work. As a layman, I wish they did everything - built the vault for the cover, laid the tracks, installed the cover, etc. But they don't so you have to coordinate different contractors and they are all BUSY right now, which slows the entire project down. read more

We were initially happy with the pool cover installation, and have since been very unhappy with the service. The service people can't show up quickly and don't know what to do once they are here. Most recently they came for the required annual service, did not replace the motor even though we were to be billed for it, and now today, the motor has failed. In order to book the service appt, they require a credit card, which they will bill as they please! Even though I pay by check when they show up. They are holding us hostage! Very upsetting. When the product works, it's great. We bought a house with a pool and wanted a better cover. The HydraLux was the perfect product that allowed us to add a cover without renovating the pool, which had just been done by the previous owner. The solar cover was worth the extra cost since it does increase the temperature of the pool. The sales manager we worked with was great but we've had multiple service issues. When they first installed the cover, they cut the cover incorrectly. It was an honest mistake since our pool shape is a bit unique. But it took them over a year to fix it after reminding them multiple times. When they did fix it, they replaced it with the wrong slats so the new slats didn't match the old ones. It took them another few months to install the correct replacement slats. We also had challenges with the motor and switch. Multiple times we've had a similar pattern: After the cover opens or closes it started tripping the circuit breaker every time. They came out and said it was operating correctly. I hired an electrician to inspect and test it and they could show it was failing. Eventually it stopped operating completely. They came out to repair it but it still didn't work. They had to come out a second time (6 weeks later) to replace a different component. I had to remind them to return. When they failed to fix it the first time, they didn't reach out to me to explain. This year it failed again. Same pattern. Since I had had a bad experience of them coming out to our remote site without all of the proper parts, I asked them explicitly to reach out to our electrician to determine what they may need to bring. When they came, they determined that the controller board was completely rusted (I got the information from my electrician because after multiple calls they didn't provide an explanation) but they didn't have a replacement part with them so now we have to wait another few weeks for them to return! Throughout this process, there's been no explanation on why it keeps failing. Once when they said it was the switch, I realized that was probably our fault. We were in the middle of construction so the switch was not properly mounted and water got in it. But why is the controller board completely rusted? It should be able to be outside. Otherwise, they shouldn't have installed it outside. The sales person, the only person who is responsive and provides information, told me that they had a set of units that had seals that failed and maybe that was the issue. But when there's been a manufacturing defect like that, I've often had companies reach out to me and replace it before it becomes an issue for free. Aquamatic makes me pay for labor to come out to repair it, not to mention the additional cost to have my electrician help troubleshoot it. On top of that, it takes multiple trips for them to fix the issue. I realize now is a challenging time with COVID. But the service issues and the poor response time has been an issue since the installation. Even in these more challenging times, I still expect a clear explanation and next steps from Aquamatic. read more

We purchased this cover a year ago for a bean type pool which is not easy to cover. So far, we had to replace the oil cover motor pump once, a circuit breaker once, a piece of the cover once since the front bare was not originally set correctly so dragging onto the mesh/screen, and now the water pump once. It looks quite a lot of startup problems so why am rating them a 4 stars: because, each time we called them, they always responded and reacted very fast. The last was the water top cover evacuation pump: I sent an email Monday AM, got a reply same Day PM, and received a new water pump on Tuesday. For us, we understand startups problems. I had a faulty drive motor (20 year warranty) - after 7 years of use - initially customer service refused to replace the part / reimburse Cover pro for the part. We have been utilizing Aquamatic Cover Systems for a little over 12 years now. They install their units in our pools and have had great customer service thru-out the years. Their scheduling and staff have always been very informative and great communicators. Having this system installed in my own personal home, I have not had one single issue, in the 8 years I've had it. Having toddlers, that are now older, its been a peace of mind having the cover. (Especially when they think its a big waterbed). As far as safety and support.. they work great! I've had a customer call me at 8 am. asking to come over and help get a cow out and off of her pool, that wandered in from their neighbor. It was like a 2000 lb cow. Quite the sight to see. Aquamatic is one of those companies you enjoy working with. You know the product your going to get and you know you'll have technical support, with on site help if needed. I was just looking for a contact number for Aquamatic and stumbled on this Yelp site and saw a lot of bad reviews. Mine was installed in 2009 and has worked perfectly ever since. Prior to Aquamatic, I had an under-deck track that kept falling off...a real mess. Aquamatic has had none of those problems (maybe because I paid close attention to how the track was installed at the time). Also the pneumatic motor system is so strong that I can open the cove with a significant amount of water on it ( no that you should be doing this!). The reason I am getting in touch with them now is because I need the cover replace. After six years, it has developed some small holes. I consider it normal wear and tear though. I my opinion this is a great system. However, I highly suggest that you really pay attention to how the tracks are mounted. read more

Once again I have the pleasure of recommending Aquamatic. As part of a pool remodel this Fall, I replaced the undermount track with the in-wall design and love the look of that. The company was very responsive in terms of coming out to measure and producing my new cover in less than 10 days. The two guys that re-installed all the equipment replaced all the pulleys and other wear parts. They, like the factory personnel I dealt with, were great people. And when I got my quote, I was pleased to see a warranty credit due to it having been 5 years since the last replacement cover vs the warranted 7. Also a winter discount was applied without asking. I am impressed with the people at this company and also the engineering that goes into their products. Quality materials used throughout. Yes, my covers tend to last closer to 5-6 years rather than 7, but that still works out to about $350 per year which is well worth it for the safety and vastly reduced maintenance costs. Updating my earlier review, and responding to the comments of AMCS owner Tom D. In the years since my initial review our pool cover has not been as problematic, and Aquamatic customer service has improved. They do a good job setting expectations on time and cost of service calls. The biggest recurring issue with the cover now is rope breakage, which is a $750 service call for repai. I believe we have replaced the rope two or three times in 8 years. We would be more than willing to pay for an upgrade to a stainless steel cable or whatever could be more reliable. On at least one occasion the rope breakage was attributed to rodents - we are on 33 acres in the country and rodents will ALWAYS be an issue. With respect to Tom D.'s points: 1. Opening the cover before guests arrive and closing it when they leave is a complete non-starter. Many guests bring small children and the cover is an important safety feature. The pool is not fenced - local ordinance allows a cover or a fence for safety. I am not a lawyer, but my guess is that we would carry uncapped liability for any issue that would arise with a guest when the cover is inoperable and open. 2. Design issues, such as location of the power pack, were never raised with us prior to installation. If the pool builder did not follow Aquamatic's recommendations then that is on him and it is not fair for us to blame Aquamatic. That said - after the last upgrades several years ago (biggest motor and leading edge bar) the system has never appeared to be short on power to do its job. The cover closes and opens nicely UNLESS the sliders or ropes are compromised. 3. With respect to the "Service Queue", many businesses have a mechanism to prioritize response time which are very fair to their customers. Nobody wants the Comcast experience. Once a service date/time are committed they should be honored and Aquamatic has always done so with us. For that they should be commended. The issue is when there are "emergency" situations - in our case a non-working pool cover creates a drowning hazard for renters with small children - and leaving a cover open for two to three weeks while waiting for a tech is a huge liability. I don't know the inner workings of Aquamatic's service department, but would bet that some of their techs would not mind getting paid double or triple time to handle these cases on an overtime basis, and I would be completely willing to pay it if the situation ever comes up again. I applaud Tom's commitment to treat all customers fairly but hope the company can find a way to create some spare service capacity to handle these situations. read more

NO STARS. I called for service on my pool cover two times, one week apart, and received no return call. On the third try someone answered the phone and told me she needed some information before we could proceed. Then she transferred me to someone else who asked for the exact same information before she could proceed. Then the second woman put me on hold for almost 15 minutes. When she came back on the line she told me that the soonest someone would be available to service my pool cover would be September 11th! It's June 29th! This is an update to my previous review. After having additional conversation with Tom I am downgrading my opinion. The metal pieces are already rusting, they will not provide and integral tension pulley to keep the ropes tight and prevent the cover from skewing. I was never told that since I purchased the EZ manual system that I did not get so called "up grades" like integral pulleys and a method to bail water ie the mesh screen on the canvas. What I did get is a condescending remark from Tom in which he said if I was purchasing a car and paid for the base model I would not get the premium upgrades. This is hardly a fair statement since these items are basic to the operation of the cover. A better statement might be do you really think you deserve brakes on your basic model car. Also he blames the pricing of the product on the company location in NoCal and made some off handed remark about not running the company from some little town in TX where everything is cheap. There one size fits all measurement scheme is flawed. It should be a combination of track to track width and a measurement from the top of the pool deck to the water level in order to minimize wrinkles and yet keep the canvas riding on the top of the water. In my case if the cover was 3-4" shorter it would make a huge difference. I have even considered taking it to a local canvas shop and see if they can fix the issue. I wish I had never purchased this product and I hate to think about ever dealing with a warranty issue. Since they like to compare themselves to a car dealer I say....you give car dealers a bad name. read more

We bought a house with one of these covers installed with the rails under the coping (the bricks around the side of the pool), it is about five years old now and still works great. We have the local dealer come and service it every year or so. The cover does get quite dirty and is difficult to clean well, I use a power washer on a low setting, but I think if we ever needed to build a pool elsewhere we would absolutely get one installed. It keeps the pool clean, retains the heat from our pool heater over night, and gives us peace of mind with our kids - our three year old son has fallen on it a few times, no problems! read more

FRAUDS!! NEVER BUY A COVER FROM THIS COMPANY!! We purchased this cover 3 years ago and recently had a snag in the fabric. When sold this cover we were told there was a 7-year Warranty on the fabric so I called Aquamatic immediately. They couldn't set up an appt any sooner than 2 weeks using the excuse it is "busy up season". Um, okay then hire more people. Are you NOT selling a safety product?? In addition, the service call will be $100. If this wasn't enough I had to request a copy of the Warranty since it was conveniently omitted from the paperwork at point of purchase. When clarifying the nature of the issue it was brought to my attention EVEN IF this is a manufacturer defect (the only thing covered under their warranty) I will still need to pay for a new cover at a pro-rated cost. So after spending $8,000.00 just three years ago I will need to spend another $2,200 +labor+ shipping to fix something under their warranty. What a terrible company. They sell a crappy product and make residuals off of repairs under a fictional warranty. This isn't the last they will hear from me. Merely the beginning. As a born and raised local (Morgan Hill) I will ensure that everyone I know and come into contact with does not make a purchase from them. I have had an aquamatic pool cover since I bought (pre-existing cover) in 2010. The cover is great and works as described, I have always felt safe with my kids in the backyard when it is covered, no way of getting in the pool. That being said, unfortunately, I am currently dealing with my 3rd pool cover replacement, last one being in May of 2014. This cover has lasted 2 1/2 years. They have worked with me to an extent but am told it's not a full warranty. I have tried everything and even had Aquamatic come out for a yearly maintenance call (at my expense, no problem) because I wanted more than two years out of my cover. I am told by staff that my current replacement will cost $1,000.00. Like I said, great product but very costly product when it has to be replaced almost every other year. read more

I had my Aquamatic cover installed my pool by my pool builder in 1998. He did an incompetent job as the pulley was mis aligned and the rope lines frayed and the system failed in the second year. I have no authorized dealers here in Kansas which is a blessing. I worked with Aquamatic directly and learned to work on the pool cover myself. I replaced ropes and realigned the pulleys. Several years later the pulleys burned up as the roller bearings are exposed and do wear out over time. I rebuilt the system of ropes and pulleys again several years ago. I have also over the years replaced the motor to the pump only once. (The out of production motor was found as new old stock on Ebay while Aquamatic can supply a different compatible motor.) The hydraulic reservoir finally rusted out and Aquamatic sold me an appropriate replacement unit. My original cover is now finally at the end of its life and has some cracking where it has developed its folds and will likely be replaced this spring. It has lasted much longer than Aquamatic ever expected it would. Overall the design had met my expectations. It is a device always working in a harsh location of being outside and exposed to water, sun, temperature variation and chlorine and has held up well. Support from Aquamatic has been consistently good. If you are dealing with a poor install and/or are stuck with marginal support staff locally and cannot do the work yourself then I can understand some of the distress expressed by other reviewers. I have been a happy customer overall. read more

I agree with the homeowner who wrote in 2012: Go Elsewhere!!! I only give it one star because I do not know how to give zero! We recently put in a pool and used the aquamatic cover system. Trying to communicate with the office was awful no one returns calls or communicates. We were charged expedited shipping but no one communicated that it had been delivered to the warehouse. The owner said he would reimburse me for this charge and after three calls he sent me a letter in the mail saying he would not reimburse because it was delivered to the right place which was not even my compliant. The lid that covers the cover is very flimsy and does not match the cover and I am sure it will break soon. This is my real concern because if you get terrible service while spending 8K I cannot imagine how bad it will be when we need parts! PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE there are better ratings out there and I should have investigated this myself....Learn from my mistakes! read more

Aquamatic sold us pool cover replacement SAFETY covers for our pool and hot tub but won't give us pool pumps that they state on their FAQ's on their own website are included with any cover that does not have a way to drain the rainwater... If not included, they are a drowning risk when the rains begin and they admit this also. They won't even respond to BBB and are not endorsed by BBB. In 2009, we also had to fight to get a pump for our separate hot tub cover which is at a different elevation and hence requires a second one. They eventually did, but this time are refusing both. We had many complaints in 2009, ... inadequate cover over the unit by the pool...flimsy, a tripping hazard, and open to the elements; hydraulic pump not enclosed, prior grommet holes not filled in as promised ...all which I had to fight about. They charged our card before we authorized it and until I declined this, they would not resolve issues... I wish I had not chosen to use them this time!!! I want everyone to know about the required pool pumps that can save lives... If you are concerned enough to put on the cover, make sure you have the pumps required by ASTM F1346-91. They are standing behind their product only to get the money as they are not concerned about children's safety obviously. They are a very unethical company. read more

I had nearly the same experience w/ this company as the previous reviewer. Our pool cover had two large tears in the fabric after just three years. The fabric has also become brittle and pulled away at the edges. When we purchased the product i was under the impression that the warranty would fully cover us for seven years. The customer service rep was curt when explaining that the warranty actually only covers the stitching/welds in the fabric. She also told me that we shouldn't be using chlorine tablets because it causes the fabric dry out more quickly. This was never mentioned to us before. Okay, perhaps i should have read the paperwork more carefully or pinned them down as to what exactly was covered before installing their system (which cost $6000 by the way). You sort of figure though that a pool cover will be built to hold up to a harsh environment. They now want $2500 to install a new cover. Ridiculous. read more
