I first saw signs for this store on the side of 244th ST at Firdale Village about 6 months ago and thought, an aquarium store in my area? So naturally I had to check it out as freshwater tropical fish has been a long time hobby of mine. I walked in not knowing what to expect, and was surprised to find that it was an all freshwater aquarium shop. I thought to my self, "it's a store, built just for people like me!". I couldn't believe it given I didn't know anyone in the area that kept tropical aquariums anymore. Since, through this place I quickly learned there were many in the area still into this hobby and have met many people in the hobby such as my self. The aquarium co-op has become a new favorite! After months of searching for a good aquarium shop to no avail it was great news that the Aquarium Co-Op was opening. They have a great selection of fish, and the tanks are well maintained. Also a wonderful source for aquatic plants! The owner is also very nice and helpful and always has new stuff to show! They are so helpful...great healthy fish... clean everything and when I've had to email them, I get a response immediately....tonight I emailed them after hours (they close at 8) ...I got a response within 5 minutes (@ 9:30 !!) I love this store. The owner, Cory and his employees were very helpful and knowledgable. I have always had a good experience here. This is the only fish store I have found with pristine tanks and no dead fish. Cory has a custom built water changing system that changes 10% of the tank water daily. I am an experienced fish keeper so I was surprised about the 1 star review. I think Cory and his staff go out of their way to educate and inform - so maybe Forrest happened in on a bad day. The staff gave me a very sick black molly when I was not on sight when he was capturing the fish. Making sure you are staring at them for the fish you want. Once they are in bags, it is hard to see the fish in details because the bags are printed instructions. Since the fish itself was not expensive, I give two starts to them. read more

This store has changed a lot in the last year. Once my go to fish store has since become second rate for me. Pricing is higher (10-30%) than established LFS's such as Denny's Pet and Bridges. Plant quality has dropped considerably, customer service struggles. I hope management reads this and gets things back on track. read more

Great online store. The owner Cory is VERY VERY helpful and has a great youtube channel named after the store where you can learn a lot and he doesnt push his products on you. I STRONGLY recommend the Aquarium CO-OP fertilizer and his consulting. I was having major issues with my tank and almost over night his advice improved the situation. read more

I have been using the plant tabs for about 3 weeks now. IMMEDIATELY I saw a huge improvement! Well maybe not immediately, but at least by the third day. My corkscrew vals have really taken off. This is the best freshwater fish store in Seattle. All their fish stock are healthy and the staff are experienced in the hobby. The Facebook and websites are updated often with new fish and plants in the Store and interesting videos and articles. They even have a smartphone App. It is pleasure to support a business that is in the hobby. You will regret going to the big chain stores as mega-store fish are unhealthy, stressed and amped-up on hormones and dyes for a quick sale. read more

I can definitely get a sense of others' comments about the customer service. The greeting wasn't the warmest and the help wasn't the friendliest. However, the store is nice, local, and I feel that I can trust both the advice and quality of the fish a lot more than you can at the large chain stores. Not just another fish store. I just stumbled upon the Aquarium Co-Op in the last month when a more well know Fish Store did not have any stock of three types of fish that I was looking for for my newly setup micro aquarium. The Aquarium Co-Op did have all three. The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable and will help guide you to make good decisions in your hobby if that is your true desire. They are obviously a business but do not appear to be profit driven. For example the free videos that they provide on their website are incredible and often include tips on DIY projects and ways to save money in this hobby. They buy locally whenever possible and this will most certainly provide you with a more healthy fish, plant, etc.. read more

Just bought one of the new potted plant holders, looks really good in the tank, I like how they textured it to look like a real rock. Cory (the owner) shipped it to me, as I am close to an hr away. Saw the sign outside Firdale village quite a while ago, but only stopped by within the last month. Immediately got me more interested in the aquarium hobby, owing to both the interesting new things for sale and also the knowledge of the owner and his willingness to share that knowledge. Bought my first live plants here, which have all turned out spectacularly, and plan on getting any new additions to my tanks here in the future. They have a great selection of both fish and aquatic plants, and any equipment you might need to help them thrive is there or can be ordered for you. Their fish also seem much healthier and happier than the stock at the big box pet stores, probably owing to the higher level of personal care given each day and attention to the different fish's needs. Same for his plants, very vivid and healthy (and already acclimatized to submerged growth, unlike cultured plants) compared to other stores in the area. Will certainly be a loyal customer into the future. read more

Excellent store for beginners to enthusiastic hobbyists. Knowledgeable owner and well organized setup. The selections of fishes are from basic to rare, which will serve a wide array of clienteles. Finally found a place that carried manzanita wood! The plant selection is outstanding. The price selection may be slightly higher, but the health of the fish and selections (hard to find) are not comparable. Was introduced to microworms as a food source for my fishes (they took to them immediately). If you are looking for a store to feed your fish hobby addiction or get ideas to start this hobby, then this is a must place to check out. Have already visited 3 plus times. What a fantastic fish store and such an enjoyable place to visit. Fish and plants here are healthy and well cared for. I recently went to a very expensive planted tank store in SF because my son took me there and came home with dirt to start my planted tank. I am so impressed with Cory the owner who helped me know exactly what else I needed to get my tank going and all of the fish that I will be adding in the future. He answered all of my questions and figured out what I was talking about when I was calling the regulator a "thing-a-magig" :) He's super knowledgeable and really helpful. I even called back a few days later and reminded him of who I was (how could he forget) and asked him the names of the three different kinds of fish that I was focused on so I could call my son up and tell him the names and of course he knew all of the ones I was talking about. So excited I found this place. It's worth the 40 minute drive for me to get to Edmonds! read more
