This was our first time here. It was a Friday afternoon around 430 so we sat right away. The decor was really nice and it was nicely decorated for Christmas. They bring chips and salsa to the table. We ordered sodas and we put in our order. Our teenagers ordered the ACP, husband had the carnitas enchiladas and I had the caldo de pollo. The kids liked their ACP and I loved my caldo. It was full of flavor and it was a big portion that will leave you satisfied. Sadly my husband did not like his dish. The carnitas lacked flavor and it seemed like they just had it on the grill for awhile. I tasted the beans and I didn't even finish the bite. There was no effort in the flavor! Nothing! I felt like a they opened a can of black beans and placed it in a bowl. Overall the place is nice and staff is friendly and they were fast. Hope that it was an over site in the carnitas enchiladas and the beans but they are very basic standard Mexican dishes that is kinda hard to mess up. As soon as you walk in, you know you're going to have an awesome experience. The décor and artwork are amazing and really set the tone for the restaurant. Our server was fantastic--great communication, checked on us often, and kept the table cleared so we could just relax and enjoy our meal. Our server, Pablo, left us sitting at our table for 30 minutes, then left us with no other choice but to ask the hostess to take our order. We were then given a different server who did her best with the situation she was put in. The food proceeded to take an additional 20 minutes to come out, not to mention the two dishes came out 10 minutes apart. After finishing our meal and having both of our dishes collected , we were left at our table for an additional 20 minutes with no one bringing a check. When the check finally arrived we were given no pen and were left for an additional amount of time. We came here on a Sunday early afternoon and we were seated right away. Restaurant is very clean and spacious with very comfortable seats and equipped for large groups. Staff is very friendly and attentive and the decor is beautiful. I ordered the sautéed shrimp with mushrooms and it was delicious and full of flavor. The chips came out warm and crispy and the salsa had just enough kick to it. My 90-year-old dad said it was the best Mexican food he's had. We drive by this location regularly and have been watching for it to open. We noticed it was one day and decided to try them the next evening. The place had previously been another restaurant and has been redone very nicely. Service was quick and our server was very attentive and pleasant. Now for the food - it was outstanding. As typical the brought some nice tortilla chips while we looked over the huge menu. The house made salsa was flavorful and.came in 2 varieties, medium and hot (or hot and extra hot for those whose taste buds aren't burned out). I had the Pollo Al Fogón and was very satisfied. The serving was generous with chicken that was pounded thin and grilled with tasty bell peppers and drizzled with cheese. The rice was delicious and the salad was fresh with a large dollop of guacamole on top. A very delicious dish. Aqui Mero will likely become our go to spot for Mexican cuisine if the quality stays like this. They've only been open a week and we'll certainly be following up by trying other items on their huge menu. I am giving 3 stars as I really liked the atmosphere and hope this new restaurant's food will soon match the decor. It is a renovated O'Charleys, nice and spacious, with lots of roomy booths. The walls and booths are black with colorful murals, the vibe just felt so cool and very clean. For the food it was just okay and on the pricey side. Most of the alcoholic drinks seemed to be $15, so I skipped over those. The chips and salsa were standard fare. I ordered the Cheesy Street Tacos. The menu said they were crispy and filled with cheese. Mine were soft and you can see from the pics, not filled with cheese. But the steak was a good portion and flavorful. I was excited about the street corn that came as a side, but it was oddly luke warm, with one end being kinda warm and the bottom by the stick just cold. My husband got the Burrito California and said it was good. But he was sad that it was just the burrito, no sides. For a $16 burrito you would hope for some sides. He ended up ordering some rice and beans after he was finished as he felt something was missing and he was still hungry and likes a large amount of food. The rice and beans were $6 extra, so his chicken burrito meal was $22 which was a bit much for what it was. Our server was very sweet, but barely spoke English. She knew the basic words, but if you have a question about the menu she had to get someone else to come over to help answer as her English was very limited. I would give this place another try in a few months and be sure to order a menu item that comes with sides. read more

My issue is not with the food or service... it's with the illegal adjustment of my tip to meet (apparently) their target. In pure money terms, it's minor, but it is nonetheless illegal to adjust a bill for anything other than a simple math error. In my case, I had give an even dollar tip, near the 20% level... but they decided they should have gotten a full 20% and so adjusted my tip to be 20%.... not a math error, they simply changed the amount. This is NOT okay behavior and I'm seeing this type of thing in restaurants, where (I'm guessing) the amount is small enough to not be caught or not be worth complaining about. But I'm calling them out... it is WRONG to do this. Suggest you eat elsewhere. read more

I wrote a review when the restaurant first opened and gave it 5 stars all around. After many visits, I only wish I could give more than 5. The food is consistently fantastic -- fast, fresh, and tasty. My favorite is the pollo loco, my son loves the enchiladas, and my husband always picks the burrito bowl. The drinks are amazing -- $5 house margaritas and mojitos, and a fantastic specialty margarita menu. And the service is consistently excellent, friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I also liked the black beans and rice. I did not like the margarita. Way too sweet. Restaurant is very nice and clean. Booths are comfortable. Good service and lots of parking. The makeover of the former O'Charleys into Aqui Mero is extraordinary. New decor, obviously a new menu plus attentive, cordial & efficient wait staff made for a pleasant evening recently. The food was delicious, plentiful & will put AM into our rotation for Mexican fare. I believe this Mexican restaurant is a bit cheaper than other Mexican restaurants close by (Ten Ten Rd., Lassiter Dr., etc.) First timers. Wanted to try a variety of stuff. My wife (not with us) liked ground beef so I tried it out for her via the Aqui Mero Dip ($6.50). I asked them to keep beef and queso separate. Using grocery taco mix as a baseline, this tasted different but good. I could not stop eating it. Also, this with the free tortilla chips (& salsa) could be a meal, you get so much queso. I got a burrito that came with a side of Mexican Street corn. My son got Arroz Con Pollo. Both were great. Burrito was a bit on the small side (smaller than Chipotle, Moe's) but quality ingredients.
