Visited my local Ace Hardware store in Portsmouth RI to…read morepurchase some items. They did not have prices and the cashier told ME to go get the price. I asked him to because I didn't know exactly what he wanted me to do. The papa bear mgr came over and told me that the customer gets the prices that the employees don't know the prices of everything. I told him how terrible the service was and he told me he deals with "my type" all the time. Not sure what that meant. There was 3 other employees, 2 customers and 1 rep in the paint dept present and observing this unnecessary engagement! I ask the mgr for a district Mgr number so I could escalate. The store manager refused and told me to leave, get out or he would call the police. Dumbfounded I left but came back and returned all my items! I have been in retail customer service and always treat each and every guest with the utmost respect! Regardless if it is a sale or return! This manager should not be in a role to lead anyone. He is disrespectful, combative and very aggressive.

I wanted to get two O Cedar flip mops at Ace Hardware since I had a 25% off coupon. The website…read moresaid that this particular store in Bristol had 19 in inventory so we decided to go and get them. I could not get them online since the maximum was ONE mop per transaction. So we stopped at the store and went to the mop and broom section. No O Cedar flip mop to be found...when I asked one of the staff members about the item, I showed her the item on their Ace mobile app and she went on their system to check for inventory...she said, they had none in the store...but the mobile app said they did.... Confusing... She said, I can order from our warehouse and you might be able to pick up next week, I said, yes...so I can use my coupon. When she went to get the special order entered, the system said that they are no longer getting any more of these mops.... Weird how the mobile app inventory and the store inventories do not seem to talk to each other... Unfortunately we left the store empty handed....

We ordered online for sidewalk service after consulting multiple times with Ben via phone. We then placed three different orders and then called to add more. Ben brought everything out to the car and even took two remotes back in to replace the batteries. He was pleasant and friendly throughout this order process complicated by our repeated updates and changes. He is knowledgeable and helpful. We want to publicly commend Ben for his exemplary work.

This is when I got passed off to someone else. He then passed me off to yet ANOTHER person. By the time I talked to 4 people (It took a half an hour-for a couple of screws!!)I left with whatever I needed...or did I? I realized that by the time I was almost home, they sent me how with one set of nuts not TWO. My head was spinning by the time I left so I didn't notice they forgot the 40MM bolts. And I am still not sure the kid I was talking to wasn't a drug addict...BUT they have always been a pleasant experience in the past, so I gave them two stars. I spoke with the manager and explained the treatment I'd been receiving. I wanted him to talk to her about the way I'm being treated. He said that I must have done something to upset her. I informed him that she has waited on me for years with no problems.. I've been merely making purchases and leaving. He said he felt she was in the right and we agreed I should take my business elsewhere. That said, I recommend One Stop Building Supply.

Every time I've walked in, Newport Hardware had what I needed, could find it in their cornucopia of good stuff and were as courteous as you please. The military discount is another bonus.
