We were looking for a quick bite to eat across the street from Tanger Outlet Mall, and ended up stopping at Arandas Tacos for a late afternoon lunch. This is a great place for authentic Mexican food. The tacos and the salsa bar was the highlight of our visit. This is a very casual place, but we had great service and really enjoyed the food. I so wanted good Mexican food. This was not the place for that. They didn't serve chips and salsa. Instead we got a basket of stale oil glistening chicharrones. It was disgusting. My husband ordered a corn cake entree. He couldn't even get a knife through the cake it was so tough. No flavor in the rice or beans. I got nachos and they were ok, but it's kinda hard to screw up nachos. They were just mediocre at best. I make better at home. There was a salsa bar but it didn't look appetizing. Also there were no cups for the salsa so I'm not sure how that is supposed to work. Not good, no ambience. Our waitress was sweet but otherwise, there's no reason to go back here... ever. read more

We come to Branson often, but this is our first time at Arandas Tacos! I wish I discovered this little hole in wall sooner! Best Mexican food in Branson! The space is small, but our party of 4 was seated immediately. I can imagine that it gets busy, but it's definitely worth the wait! We had the burrito California with chicken, and it was fresh and delicious! Huge and covered with queso...it's big enough to share! We also had the house burrito with steak. It was so simple but absolutely perfect! Their salsa bar is a huge bonus and offered a variety of salsas from medium to extra hot. As well as lettuce, radishes, and cilantro. Branson is like my other hometown. I am here all the time and have been for years. There are a lot of Tex-Mex restaurants of varying quality. Arandas is unique. If you want authentic food typical of Mexico, then Arandas is your best choice here. The Al Pastor is fantastic. It's a specialty. Heck, it's on the logo. They serve other Central American specialties that you won't find at other so-called "Mexican restaurants." Don't miss this place - oh and if you sit down and expect chips and salsa. Think again. Aranda's Tacos was not worth our time nor money and I do not recommend it. Service was really slow. Food was subpar. My husband and I each got the carne asada taco plate. The meat was mostly gristle. The rice was bland without any hint of a Mexican or Spanish flair to the taste. Instead of the standard chips and salsa, they brought out a basket of what I learned were pork rinds. Gross. I had hoped for enchiladas, but unfortunately their only sauce choices were a queso sauce or queso sauce with a green salsa on top. Tried this place while visiting Branson. Small spot with good food! I tried the Gorditas plate with some pineapple salsa from their salsa bar. SO GOOD! I chose steak for my protein in my meal. It was juicy and not greasy at all. The fried corn cakes were crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Very flavorful! My husband had the steak burrito dinner. His favorite. Again, the steak was juicy and flavorful and not greasy. Both meals came with rice and refried beans that were also good. Usually at Mexican restaurants, there is complimentary chips and salsa, here they give something else. I'm not entirely sure what they are, they're wheel shaped and puffed. The food was great, my boyfriend got the chorizo fajita burrito and I got the chorizo taco and al pastor taco. I loved that they gave us an appetizer/ snack as well. This place was just ok. I didn't love it but I really haven't had too many (? any) GOOD food experiences in Branson. The food was definitely leaned authentic (Lengua/Tripe) but was tasty. We were served rice wheels instead of chips which was different...so we paid for an order of chips and salsa. The salsa was very thin and tomato saucy. So far so okay. The waitress was not friendly and wasn't unfriendly. She was just there. Except when we needed a water refill. Even my 8 year old said, "Mom, I think this isn't good customer service." I responded that it was a Friday night and she probably would rather be home. Anyway, enough grace was given. We got our own silverware because she forgot it. No check back on food. The other waitress seemed happy and good with her guests so it may just have been our server. The chicken chimichanga was satisfactory. Not bad. Not great. The tacos were quite good. Pork tacos recommended! We ordered the chicken and cheese quesadilla for the kids to split because it had chicken in it and the kids meals only offered cheese quesadillas. They liked it although it had a little spice (we ordered it without onions and peppers). Overall, meh. We may try it again someday in the future. We had the Al Pastor, chorizo and Carne Asada. The tacos were great. The meat was cooked and seasoned well. There's a salsa bar which is where you'll find your toppings for the tacos. Place was packed and had to wait a few minutes. Staff was busy but nice. Pork wheels are complimentary. They have zero taste. Chips and salsa cost, but salsa was with it. Ordered street tacos: ground beef, pollo, al pastor, cabeza (beef check). Daughter ordered nacho fries. Tacos were delicious, al pastor and cabaza were on top. Third time here (tried to come earlier this winter, but they were closed for a bit). Still super happy they exist. This is absolutely an authentic taqueria serving street food just as you'll find in Mexico. While there are several dishes on the menu that'll do for the Tex-Mex crowd, the standout items are the ones you won't typically find in the US but will run across all over Mexico (and at prices not much more than you might find in Mexico to boot!). My favorites are the tacos al pastor and (what I had today) the tortas, which are huge for the price and seriously every bit as good as the ones I walked all over Mexico City for. The salsa bar is also worth mentioning with several different salsas (including an absolutely delicious one that's specifically for al pastor meat) and of course the obligatory onions and cilantro that all street tacos in Mexico come with. To the folks in other reviews complaining about the lack of free chips and salsa: to me, that's a mark of this place's authenticity. Nowhere I ate in Mexico gave me chips and salsa. That practice was invented in the United States. I love chips and salsa as much as the next Americano, but downrating this place because they don't have them is as silly as complaining that a Thai place doesn't have hamburgers or an Italian place doesn't have hot dogs. And honestly, most of us could do without the extra carbs anyway. A note of warning: while two of the three dishes I've ordered were tame (the tacos and tortas come without salsa but can be seasoned to your liking at the salsa bar) the dish I ordered on the first visit (apologies, I forget which it was) was so spicy that even I (and I usually like my food about medium to medium-hot) had trouble eating it. If you're sensitive to spiciness (like most Midwesterners unfortunately seem to be), be sure to confirm the spice level when ordering. I rate restaurants mostly on food quality, hence my 5* rating (because this place is absolutely deserving of moving to the top of Branson's Yelp listings--it's freaking delicious). That said, while I'm not at all sensitive to service quality and food quality is 99% of the reason I eat, if you care about such thingsI'll note that service can be a little slow as there are only one or two servers for the whole room of about 15 or so tables, though it's easy enough to flag someone down if needed. For whatever it's worth, every time I've been in here, it's been jam-packed full and the clientele has been 90+% Latino, and you won't hear much English being spoken. To me, that is a good thing. (Staff speak English fine, so that's not an issue.) The torta was so delicious that if it weren't so big, I'd have considered ordering another one. Now that they're open again for the season, this will return back to my regular rotation of eateries! read more
