I accidentally chipped my front tooth and decided to finally get porcelain veneers. I was very nervous because I am a new patient who did not know the practice or the dentists and the out of pocket costs are expensive because the veneers are considered cosmetic. Dr. Scott, Linda and the veneer technician did an amazing job! I'm super happy with my new smile. Dr. Scott was meticulous and careful. The front desk receptionists are so nice, friendly, and explains the billing very thoroughly prior to the procedure. I've been coming here with my whole family for years, and Dr. Scott Watanabe and his whole staff are amazing! I've had to take multiple trips to the dental office during the pandemic, and I notice how careful they are. They take temps and screen each patient before every visit. Haven't had any issues and felt safe during all of my visits. I've had to get a few crowns replaced and Dr. Scott was super gentle and made sure I was always comfortable. No need to look any further! Dr. Biagan & Dr. Scott (Watanabe) are absolutely amazing dentists and the kindest, most genuinely caring of souls. I inherited my mother's terrible teeth (y'know, the Swiss cheese variety) so I have been receiving consistent and major dental treatments for decades. Having very high anxiety during all dental procedures has made me a tricky patient, but Dr. Biagan has spent many years now paying careful attention to the ins and outs of my needs and catering to them with ease, calm, patience, and grace. After experiencing a plethora of dentists across various states and cities, I couldn't be more grateful for having found her! I no longer get nervous prior to appointments or panic during them, because I know and trust in Dr. Biagan's unique and unparalleled ability to take perfect care of my teeth while making things as comfortable and relaxed as possible. She even noticed last month that I seemed preoccupied, so she asked if I was ok-- I wasn't. My family and I were enduring a terrifying crisis. Several days after this appointment, I received a beautiful greeting card with a handwritten, compassionate message inside, from Dr. Biagan's heart to our home. I've now been coming to Arbor Dental for a handful of years, and Dr. Biagan and Dr. Watanabe (also amazingly compassionate, patient, and genuinely caring) have been hands down the best dentists I've ever had. I give this place 5 stars for the incredible service and professionalism this place offers. My husband raved about this office so I booked an appointment when my back tooth started to hurt. Now I can attest that the 170+ 5 Star reviews are on point.. Service: 5 stars.. 10 if I could! From the moment you walk into the office, you're immediately greeted by receptionists who are so friendly and kind. When I mean friendly.. I mean extremely friendly. It was like they won the lottery or something by meeting you! Not once did I feel rushed and always knew what steps were next when the doctor was operating. The doctor's touch was so, so, gentle and light at times that I didn't even notice he was working. I had a tough location for the tooth in question and I appreciated that he was upfront about needing to refer me to an Endodontist. I wish I had listened to his advice because later I went to a general dentist who struggled with the location and caused me a ton of pain ..(don't skip steps)!! Wait time: 5 stars! scheduled my appointment early in the morning and had no wait time other than filling out my initial patient forms. Quick and easy! Location 4 stars My only qualm is that I wish they had better wayfinding signage to direct someone to their office. It took me a hot minute to find this place as it is buried in the busy plaza with Taiko. When parking, try to park close to where Lollicup or Taiko is located. You'll need to walk upstairs one of the buildings and through a precarious hallway to get to the office. Pricing: I appreciate that the receptionists were upfront with the costs and helped me figure out my cost relative to my benefits. Another dentist in Irvine once gave me BS that I had to pay full cost and be refunded 2 weeks later. There was no BS like that and they were happy with accepting my payment portion after verifying insurance. Overall, I'll be back because though this office may not have the latest equipment and gadgets, I know they are professional and will do their best to accommodate my well being even if it means they don't necessarily get the sale. read more

I've been coming here for about a year and a half now for my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Pierson. I've been more than pleased with my experiences here throughout my treatment. Dr. Pierson is very knowledgeable and thorough with my case. My monthly checkups were very quick and they were always ready for me at my scheduled time. They are also open early, which accomodates my early work hours. Renee was very responsive and helpful when it came to pricing, insurance, and scheduling appointments. The rest of the support staff were also very helpful, professional, and accommodating. Overall the Invisalign process was very smooth and I'm happy with the end results. read more

Absolutely the best dentist in OC:) I'm a patient of Dr. Scott Watanabe. I had the most terrible experience with our previous family dentist, and Dr, Scott has been most understanding and kind about that past experience and managed to make me trust dentists again. He is respectful of my conservative approach and all the work he's performed has been great :) He finished my invisalign treatment (left over from the previous dentist), did a root canal and two crowns. All with no issues:) Phuong is our hygienist and I can't imagine having anyone else clean my teeth. I believe it's a consensus among all his patients since getting an appointment with Phuong is tough! He is very kind as a person and excellent in what he does. EDIT: I should mention Renee too! She is a very bright, happy person. She greets you like you're her best friend and I suspect that she either has super-memory or keeps tabs on the patients since she will remember the little details you tell her and then four months later ask: "Well, and how did this story end?" :) She makes the visit to the dentist a positive experience the minute you walk through the door. read more

I have been to quite a few dentists and haven't had exceptional service that would make me want to go out of my way to visit. Now, I can't imagine any other dentists to visit regularly! I moved further away and still make the drive here! You really feel the care they put into their services and they get to know you well enough to hold a conversation. Been coming here for a few years now. Sorry to say but I hate going to the dentist. That being said, I don't mind coming here because they are so friendly and REALLY GOOD! It's been a while since I was last here due to Covid and turns out I had some cavities to fill, oh no! It actually turned out to be a pretty painless procedure after the numbing shots and it was over before I knew it with the TV show running on the screen. I've been a patient here for as long as I can remember so honestly I can't relate to those who don't like going to the dentist. For 22+ years I've been consistently treated with incredible kindness. To deal with the teeth of a little kid who loved all things sugar (and an adult who still does now) can't be easy. However many cavities, wisdom teeth, etc. later and I've still never had a bad experience here. Each time I go in I can count on a warm welcome from Renee, a thorough cleaning from Phuong, and an informative check up from Dr. Scott. They have this great dynamic with their customers because they work hard to make you feel comfortable (TV's in each room are a plus) while providing amazing service. I might not know any different but I'm confident that a dentistry like this is unparalleled based off of talking to friends and family who have had problematic experiences elsewhere. I've been a patient of Arbor Dental for over 12 years now. I've had nothing but positive experiences here during this timeframe. The administrative staff is always friendly and efficient. I've had all of the staff dentists work on me at one point or another. All have done great work. The staff are nice. But They are very careful at what they disclose and not disclose. When things should be very open and upfront about all the charges. I whet in for a routine cleaning, and was told everything was covered at 100%. Later to find out they're out of network AND they charge a $25 cleaning fee which they failed to mentioned. When questioned, they told me that is what every dentist is charging. Which is not true. Because my dental plan cover to cleaning a year. They were even trying to schedule both cleanings in the same week. All before billing will come out. The hygienist was also very sneaky, asking a lot of personal question and trying to sell me a lot of stuff. All in all I'm very very very disappointed in my experience.. read more

After switching dental insurance, I was hesitant about going to a new dentist. I searched the Yelp reviews and saw that there were only a few reviews at first, but solid. I think there was less than 20 when I first started going here! I have been going here for over a year now, maybe even 2. Arbor Dental and its staff is the reason why I keep coming back for these past 10+ years. And now having moved to Riverside county, I still gladly make my regular dental checkups with Dr Scott and regular cleanings with Phuong. Dr Scott has done an amazing job making my smile what is it today. And takes great care and concern with the health of my teeth every checkup. Phuong is very diligent when it comes to my teeth cleaning, I always leave with very clean feeling teeth. (Plus he was the one that FINALLY got me to floss every night! - because you know everyone hates flossing). Linda is great, very friendly she makes me feel at home, even if I am sitting in the dental chair getting X-rays with that heavy lead vest crushing me. She has a very calming persona, which is a plus when there are patients who are deathly afraid of going to the dentist. Also, every time I walk right in for an appointment, I am always greeted with a smile from Renee. She knows her insurances and is great at explaining payments and coverages. Dentists have had it pretty bad in recent history. Perhaps it all started with Steve Martin's characterization of a sadistic dentist in "Little Shop of Horrors." Several years later, Seinfeld labeled those who harbored dental bigotry as being an Anti-Dentite. Then, of course, there is the Corbin Bernson movie, "The Dentist," where his patients are dentally tortured! Ha! I could go on, but I need to get to the important stuff. I found an amazing dentist. His name is Dr. Ronald Watanabe of the Arbor Dental Group in Irvine. The office is modern, sleek, and, dare I say, chic? There are dental gadgets in there that I have never seen the likes of before. The staff is all so warm and friendly and they make you feel like you're at home, but with teeth drills and stuff. On your first visit, the Dr. and his staff are incredibly thorough. They will check every nook and cranny of your mouth. And, the best part is, you get to see it all happen on the big screen in front of you. You will see and hear things about your mouth that you never knew before. It's simply fascinating...for at least a few minutes or so. Then, you can simply slip on the headphones they provide for you and zone out. But, all the while, you can still look deep inside your mouth. It's best to floss really, really, really well before you come here. If you're in the Irvine area, or are willing to drive for the best, then go see Dr. Watanabe. Dr. Scott is awesome! He has the best bedside manner I have ever encountered at a dentist office. You can barely even feel it when he is examining you, a definite plus if you have a hard time at the dentist. Gentle, attentive, helpful...all great ways to describe Dr. Scott. Beyond the physical care provided, the practice is extremely upfront, honest, and transparent about what is going on and what your options are. I found Arbor Dental because of a bad experience at a different dentist office. I had never needed any dental work prior to few years ago which coincided with starting to go to that other dentist. I ended up following the dentists recommendations and spent an excessive amount of time and money doing what he said was necessary. Regardless of what he fixed there was always something else that "had" to be fixed. I felt very taken advantage of and stopped going there, unsure of how I would trust another dentist. Enter Arbor Dental and Dr. Scott! On my first visit, i asked a ton of questions and they put me at ease telling me that they would always provide me with all my options and explain fully what was going on. Tucked behind Taiko and Shik Do Rak is Arbor Dental. You would have never guessed that it was there, judging by it's semi-run down exterior. It's behind the pond, on the 2nd floor, across the hallway from the Driving School. I received a recommendation to Arbor Dental from my oral surgeon when I had my wisdom teeth removed. If an oral surgeon goes there, it's GOT to legit! The staff is friendly, personable and professional. I am baffled that there isn't a sign-in sheet, however, they always know who I am. I agree with Aimee G's comments on how chic the place is. I've even converted the FI to come here. I never have qualms about going to the dentist now, but I wish they would invent something better than those scraping tools for deep cleanings! read more

I'm at a perplexing moment in my Yelp life. How do you rate a dentist experience? I mean, even at the best of times, a trip to the dentist is still bothersome, painful, scary, and/or tiresome. It's one of those things you know have to do, but no one really says, "Hey guys, let's all go to the dentist together next Saturday!" Normally, five star reviews are for those restaurants that tickle my taste buds, massage my muscles, or somehow impart pleasure into my seemingly hedonistic life. That said, I'd have to give this place 5 stars for making a rather distasteful event into a pleasant and comfortable experience. ----- The Scheduling ----- My appointments had to be made weeks/months in advance due to their lack of availability. A lot of reviews for dentists, doctor's office, and optometrists revolve around scheduling, billing, or other administrative work. While this is important in any experience, I believe the quality and workmanship of the doctor far outweighs anything else. Waiting a few weeks is not a problem if the service is great. You wouldn't complain that Boulevard in SF had no reservations open for the coming weekend, would you? The ladies up front were great. They scheduled me properly, called and emailed to confirm, and went over all my insurance information. So many places will just do, and expect you to figure things out on your own, or get slapped with an unexpectedly high amount of copay. Not here. Anything that came out of pocket was explicitly discussed prior to any work. This part of the experience is kind of like the offensive line in football. No one really notices their work until it's gone, then you can't really do anything at all. ----- The Dental Work ----- Dr. Rica Biagan did my cleaning, fillings, and deep cleaning. She is thorough, meticulous, and goes out of her way to explain the details of the procedures. I was offered to watch TV on the LCDTV above the patient chair while the dental work went on, but I refused. I didn't want to laugh, sigh, or fall asleep whilst a DRILL plows through my skull. Also, it's very fancy that they took xrays and pictures of my teeth and reviewed them on the LCD TV. Last note: I may have a latex allergy, and I informed the dentist and rda. They made sure to use vinyl gloves, and marked it on my profile. The next visit, I was greeted to the room and noticed a box of vinyl gloves with a post it stating "No LATEX for this patient!". My family and I have been going to Arbor dental for probably the last 25 years now. Wonderful group of dental hygienists and dentists. They provide not only professional and exceptional care but over a very personal one as well. I only go twice a year for cleanings but the staff will remember conversations and inquire about family etc. You aren't just some random client. They've always been prompt with appointments and even if they have a back up to an emergency or something else unexpected they'll inform you. I also love that they'll send reminders for upcoming appointments either via email, mail or phone. I highly recommend them as you have a sense of this place being a family practice.
